Marilyn M. Gompf 01/25/2003
Marilyn M. Gompf, age 79, of US Rt. 42 North, Mount Gilead died Saturday afternoon Jan. 25, 2003 in the Morrow Manor Nursing Center. She was born in Morrow County, Harmony Township, on April 30, 1923, to the late Sheldon Carl and Florence Hilda (Keyes) Rice.
Marilyn was a 1941 graduate of Mount Gilead High School. She had worked at North Electric, for Attorney Virgil Guiher and for the Morrow County Court as a secretary. Marilyn was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Rebecca Lodge in Caledonia, was a Girl Scout leader and had been a leader with the Happy Hemstitches 4-H Club for 50 years.
On December 22, 1943, in Larue, Marilyn married Richard D. Gompf and he survives in Mt. Gilead.
Other survivors include 3 sons and their wives, Philip and Brenda Gompf, of Cardington, Christopher and Jan Gompf of Cardington, David Gompf of Mt. Gilead; 2 daughters, Kathy Prince of Mt. Gilead and Kim Meadows of Mansfield; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Betty Derringer, of Larue, Rosemary Latimar of Kenton and Freda Leadman of Crawfordsville, IN.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Rice.
Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Pastor Bruce Hartley will officiate with the burial in Glendale Cemetery.

Lillian M. Kramer 01/24/2003
Lillian M. Kramer, age 91, of Glendora, Calif. and formerly of County Road 66, Edison, died Friday morning January 24, 2003, at The Rowland Nursing Home in Covina, CA. She was born in Richland Township, Marion County on March 25, 1911 to the late Charles M. and Ella C. (Yake) Rengert.
Lillian was a 1929 graduate of Waldo High School and a lifelong member of the Saint John Lutheran Church.
On August 16, 1933, in Delaware she married Emerson J. Kramer and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn (John) Barnhart of Glendora, CA; 3 sons, Dr. Donald E. Kramer of Anchorage, Alaska, William D. Kramer of Powell OH and Pastor Glenn E. Kramer of Clifton, TX, 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lillian was preceded in death by one sister Florence Heacock.
Friends may call Friday, January 31, 2003, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2003, at 11:00 AM in the St. John Lutheran Church. Pastor Donald Pletcher will officiate with the burial in the Saint John Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Cecil E. Haycook 01/23/2003
Cecil E. Haycook, age 84, formerly of South Marion Street in Cardington died Thursday Jan. 23, 2003 at the Woodside Village Care Center. He was born March 11, 1918 in Cardington to the late Charles S. and Iva ( Marshall ) Haycook.
Cecil was a 1937 graduate of Cardington High School and had worked for 41 years at Hydraulic Press Mfg. in Mt. Gilead retiring Nov. 3, 1982. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council; a member of the Cardington Masonic Lodge # 384; Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus; Aladdin Temple Shrinerís Club; and the Marion Shrinerís Club. Cecil was a past member of the Cardington-Lincoln School Board of Education and the school Boosters Club. He was a member of the Morrow County Schools Board of Education for 12 years, serving 6 years as its President.
On March 26, 1942 in Cardington, Cecil married the former Phyllis M. Kreis and she survives. Additional survivors include sons, Charles Haycook of Mount Gilead and Jay Haycook of Cardington; grandchildren, Eric, Aaron, Heather, Annette, and Haley Haycook and Christopher Bowers; a great-granddaughter, Eleanor Jean Haycook; brother, L. Sanford Haycook of Holmesville; and sister Betty Breece Shults of Bucyrus.
In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by a son Kent E. Haycook, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call Saturday Jan. 25, 2003 from noon until 2:00 PM at the Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. The funeral service will begin Saturday at 2:00 PM with Pastor Edward Wahl officiating. The burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery.

Olive G. Rhodebeck 01/19/2003
Olive G. Rhodebeck, age 92, of Mt. Gilead died Sunday evening, January 19, 2003, at Bennington Glen Nursing Care Center. She was born in Morrow County near Mt. Gilead on November 1, 1910, to the late Amza and Belle (James) Boyer.
On October 10, 1930, at Bryn Zion Church she married Merlin F. Rhodebeck and he preceded her in death November 6, 1989.
Olive was a 1928 graduate of Mt. Gilead HS, a member of Bryn Zion Church and the Ladies Mission Circle for over 65 years. She worked 30 years as a bookkeeper. Working at Leland Hotel, Mansfield, and Mt. Gilead Pottery. Olive had lived most of her life in Morrow County. The exception was the 30 years she and her husband lived in Richland County while he worked there.
Survivors include a son and a daughter-in-law, Don and Marilyn Rhodebeck all of Mt. Gilead; 6grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Olive was preceded in death by a son, Dean Rhodebeck; 2 sisters, Virginia Hobson and Sylvia Merriman, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Luther Sims and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sylvia and Gerald Howard.
Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington Wednesday, January 22, 2003, from 5 to 8PM where funeral services will be held Thursday January 23, 2003, at 11AM with Pastor Jerry Mathias officiating. Burial will follow in Bryn Zion Cemetery.

Clara A. Burggraf 01/15/2003
Clara A. Burggraf, age 84, a lifelong resident of Morrow County died from a prolonged illness early Wednesday morning January 15, 2003 in the Extended Care Unit of Morrow County Hospital.
Known to family and friends as "Cokey", she was born April 2, 1918, in Morrow County to the late Homer and Laura (Albright) Hershner. On October 5, 1946, in Mt. Gilead Cokey married Elmer D. Burggraf and he preceded her in death in 1994.
Cokey was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for more than 72 years. She was a well known, loved, and respected neighbor, friend, and community member.
She is survived by a her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Torppa, three nephews, John Clendon Hershner, Jack Long and William Hershner, and a niece Barbara Williamson, all residing in Morrow County, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband; her only child, Donald W. Burggraf; four brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.
Friends may call, Friday, January 17, 2003, from 5 to 8PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington where the funeral services will be held at Saturday, January 18, 2003, at 11AM with Reverend Bruce Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
