Mae Weller

Mae Weller, 90, formerly of 4040 N. SR 18 in Republic, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at Arbors at Clyde, in Clyde, Ohio.

She was born May 2, 1911, in Lyme Township, Ohio, to William and Carrie (Bechstein) Seibel. They are deceased She married Ivan D. Weller on Nov. 28, 1935, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue. He preceded her in death Aug. 5, 1995.

Survivors include: a son, Gary R. and wife, Carol S. Weller of Republic, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a son, Daniel Weller Sr. in 2000, and a sister, Irene Sherman in 1982.

Mrs. Weller retired as bookkeeper for Ohio Cultivator. She was a homemaker, and a member of: Zion Lutheran Church in Adams Township, Seneca County Farm Bureau, and Women's Circle of Zion Lutheran Church.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul Long officiating. Burial will be in Block cemetery in Adams Township.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Foos and Son Funeral Home, 311 W. Main St., Bellevue, Ohio.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.

Esthel V. Suber

Esthel V. Suber, 82, of Wharton, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton.

He was born Nov. 30, 1918, in Salem Township, to Clarence V. and Eva Bernice (Tong) Suber. He married Elizabeth J. Shick on Dec. 10, 1939, in Mendon, and she survives.

Survivors also include: three daughters, Carol Ann Whitmeyer of El Mirage, Ariz., Linda Kay Suber-Grubel of Wharton, and Pamela Sue Suber-Shea of Kenton; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Garold Suber of Fostoria and Donald Suber of Carey.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. Burial will be in Wharton-Richland Union cemetery, Wharton.

Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Harry D. Cramer Sr.

Harry D. Cramer Sr., 71, formerly of Fostoria and Columbus Grove, Ohio, died at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Fostoria.

He was born May 8, 1930, in Fostoria to Clarence and Clara (Fillhart) Cramer and they are deceased. He married Anne L. Waldron and they divorced. He later married Kathlene I. Cline on Feb. 4, 1980, in Tiffin. She died Dec. 30, 1988.

Survivors include: four sons, Colonel Daniel Cramer of O'Fallen, Ill., Michael Cramer of Ottawa, Harry Cramer Jr. and Kenny Cramer, both of Edmond, Okla; two daughters, Catherine Ferkel of Tiffin and Paula Cramer of Lima; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Deceased include: three brothers, Harold, Howard, and Carl Cramer; and an infant sister at birth.

Mr. Cramer retired in 1987 from General Dynamics Tank Plant in Lima with 30 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria and attended Fostoria High School Class of 1948. He was a former member of Fostoria VFW and Moose Lodge.

Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Father J. Douglas Garand will be the officiant. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery in Fostoria, where military honors will be conducted by the Joint Veterans Group of Fostoria.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. A Scripture Service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Bridge Hospice of Hancock County.

Roger H. Bacon

Roger H. Bacon, 93, of 260 Riverside Drive in Tiffin, died Oct. 13, 2001, at St. Francis Nursing Home in Tiffin.

He was born March 30, 1908, in Tiffin to the late Frank W. and Lida (Sexton) Bacon. He married Ruth Musgrave on June 4, 1938, in Findlay. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include: a son, Frank L. and wife, Patricia Bacon of Charlotte, N.C., four daughters, Norma Bacon of Tiffin, Mrs. James (Betty) Posta of Maumee, Mrs. James (Becky) Bland of Cincinnati, and Mrs. Douglas (Janet) Greiner of Findlay; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A sister, Cora Bacon preceded him in death.

Mr. Bacon was a graduate of Columbian High School and Ohio State University with a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a mechanical engineer at Webster Mfg., in Tiffin, and was past owner of the Pioneer Mill.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and past member of Tiffin Historical Trust.

Services will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin with the Rev. Richard Mahlmann and the Rev. A. M. Geyh officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.

Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Historic Trust.

Harold Snyder

Harold (Pete) Bruce Snyder, 99, formerly of 55 Ohio Ave. in Tiffin, died at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, in Bethesda Care Center in Fremont.

He was born Oct. 21, 1901, in Elmore to the late William H. and Cora (Waggoner) Snyder. He married Viva Coonrod. She is deceased.

A sister, Vernie Fergison of Livonia, Mich. survives.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin. Burial will be in Parkhurst cemetery.

Visitation is one hour before services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bernice M. Shinn

Bernice M. Shinn, 77, McCutchenville died at 5:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 25, 1923 in Evan, W. Va., to the late Walter and Eulah Belle (Sayre) Hunt. She married Early "Woody" Shinn on Dec. 16, 1950, in W. Va. and he survives.

Survivors include: two sons, Carl W. of McCutchenville and Keith W. of Tiffin; four daughters, Janet Hall-Walter, Mrs. Dan (JoAnn) Adams-Moll, and Mrs. Mike (Hope) Bogard, all of Upper Sandusky, and Mrs. Randy (Donna) McKee of Hardy, Va., 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clair Fisher of Ripley, W. Va., Robert D. Hunt of Evans, W. Va., and E. Camden of Washington, W. Va., and two sisters, Agnes Morrison of Bremen and Nadine Tucker of New Haven, Fla.

Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Otterbein cemetery, in Evans, W. Va.

There will be no visitations.

Kent N. Mestrey

Kent N. Mestrey, 64, of Fremont, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Fremont Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 9, 1937, in Oak Harbor, to Edgar and Evelyn (Heedt) Mestrey, they are deceased. He married Lois Ann Hughes on Sept. 1, 1990, in Fremont and she survives.

Survivors also include: three sons, Kurt, Kent, Jr. and Kreston Mestrey, and a stepson, Brian Shiets, all of Fremont; five grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

He had served in the National Guard at Camp Perry in Port Clinton.

Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home in Fremont.

Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Henry R. Spackey

Henry Roy Spackey, 97, of Republic died at 4:05 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard.

He was born May 10, 1904, to Roy and Mary Louise (Michael) Spackey. Both are deceased. He married Jean Jacobs on Dec. 6, 1956, in Toledo. She died July 4, 1997.

Survivors include: a son, Lee H. Spackey of Van Nuys Calif., two stepsons, John E. Jacobs of Fremont and Robert Jacobs of Montana; a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Lenore) Wise of Attica; a stepdaughter, Martha Collier of Toledo; a brother, Philip M. Sparkey of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene in Willard. Burial will be in McPherson cemetery in Clyde.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home in Bloomville.

Edith Bretz

Edith Evelyn Bretz, 91, of the Wyandot County Nursing Home died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at the Wyandot County Nursing Home.

Arrangements are pending at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore.

Ralph V. Brown Jr.

Ralph V. Brown Jr, 79, of 143 Longfellow Drive, Tiffin, died at 5:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky.

He was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Tiffin to the late Ralph V. and Josephine (Lane) Brown Sr. He married Mary Frances Traunero on Jan. 14, 1943, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin, and she survives in Tiffin.

Survivors also include: three sons, Ralph L. Brown of Seminole, Fla., Michael A. Brown of Granville and James P. Brown of Greenville, Miss.; two daughters, Mrs. James (Jeanne) Crandall of Massena, N.Y., and Kristine L. Brown of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Eugene (Joan) Weber of Findlay and Mrs. Dean (Ann) King of Willard; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death include: a daughter, Kathleen Brown, and a sister, Rosemary Matthews.

Mr. Brown was a 1939 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and retired as a life insurance salesman.

He was a member of: St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin; Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; The Cursillo Movement; and Senior Citizens.

The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to funeral mass at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin. The Rev. Frank Murd will be the officiant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home in Tiffin, with a wake service at 3:45 p.m..

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883.

Virgil Hull

Virgil Hull, 79, 127 Ella St., died at 3:55 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Lucas County, Toledo, where he had been a patient since Saturday.

He was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Bloomville to the late Ralph and Fanny (Firestone) Hull. On July 4, 1948, in Toledo he married Gwendolyn Zoll, who preceded him in death Aug. 9, 1997

Surviving are a son, Michael J. Hull of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. George (Rebecca A.) Shaull of Risingsun; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a half brother, Michael Firestone; and two half sisters, Jeannette Firestone of Fostoria and Mary Thacker.

Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Jane Sours and Marjorie Knepper.

Mr. Hull, a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, retired as a foreman from the Seneca County Highway Department.

He also was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, where he served as a leader for over 30 years and received the Silver Beaver Award.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II, and he received a Purple Heart.

He had lived most of his life in Tiffin.

The Rev. Scott Hayward will be the officiant at the 10 a.m. Wednesday service in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery, with military services held at the graveside.

Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America Troop 473 of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and the Seneca County Kidney Dialysis.

Henry R. Spackey

Henry R. Spackey, 97, of 11734 E. TR 124 in Republic, died Sunday morning, Oct. 14, 2001, at Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard.

He was born May 10, 1904, in Reed Township, Seneca County, to Roy and Mary Louise (Michael) Spackey. He married Mabel E. Tomilson and they divorced. He later married Jean (Hill) Jacobs on Dec. 6, 1956, in Toledo. She died July 4, 1997.

Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Lenore) Wise of Attica; a son, Lee Spackey of Van Nuys, Calif., a stepdaughter, Martha Collier of Toledo; two stepsons, John E. Jacobs of Fremont and Robert Jacobs of Montana; a brother, Philip Spackey of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death include: a daughter, Phyllis Mattix; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Mr. Spackey was a farmer and worked as a custodian at Thomas Steel in Bellevue. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Willard.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene, 4414 Townline #12 in Willard. Pastor Robert Burrows and the Rev. Richard Barrell will officiate. Burial will be in McPherson cemetery in Clyde.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19 in Bloomville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the church.

Ona Mae Stahl

Ona Mae "Stubby" Stahl, 81, of St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria, died at 4:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at the care center.

She was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Toledo, to the late Laura Davis. She married Frank Kraske, Sr., and they were divorced and later married William C. Jeakle who preceded her in death. She later married Harold Morgan who preceded her in death, and George Stahl, who also is deceased.

Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, with an Eagles Memorial Service at 7 p.m.
