Rosella A. Colatruglio

Rosella A. Colatruglio, 79, Kiwanis Manor, 7 W. Market S., Tiffin, Ohio, died Sunday Dec. 9, 2001, in St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.

She was born Aug. 31, 1922, in Fremont, Ohio, to the late Leo and Helen (Ross) Smith. On Feb. 14, 1938, in St. Mary Church, Tiffin, Ohio, she married Daniel A. Colatruglio. He preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1995.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel F. Colatruglio of Tiffin, Ohio and Kenneth A. Colatruglio of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; a brother, Leo Smith of Fremont, Ohio; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Clayton Smith.

A homemaker, Mrs. Colatruglio attended Fremont Ross High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, its Altar-Rosary Society and the Kiwanis Kitchen Band.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday Dec. 13, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank A. Murd officiating. The rosary will be recited at the church at 10:15 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church, St. Mary Scholarship Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.

Armando DeAnda

Armando DeAnda, 48, of Genoa, went home to his maker, Lord Jesus Christ, on Sunday Dec. 9, 2001, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Armando was born in Bono, Ohio on Nov. 16, 1953, to Felix Jr. and Elosia DeAnda. He married Maria Lopez on Oct. 1, 1980. Armando was retired from Daimler Chrysler Corp. after 28 years of service. He was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship, Fremont.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maria "Mary," his children, Amanda (James) Cook of Bowling Green, Laura, Melissa and Sarah DeAnda of Genoa, parents, Felix Jr. and Eloisa DeAnda of Oregon, Ohio; grandson, Noah Cook, mother-in-law, Rosaura Lopez of Genoa; brothers, Arnuflo (Tammy) of Defiance, Agapito (Dolly) of Martin, Ohio; sisters, Alma Rosa (Renny) Worthington of Toledo; Amelia (Mark) Hemsath of Toledo, Alicia (Nick) Martinez of Oregon, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Salome "J.R." (Diane) Lopez of Old Fort, Daniel (Charlotte) Lopez of Graytown, Mario (Jennifer) Lopez of Genoa; sisters-in-law, Rose Lopez of Fenton, Mo., Dora Lopez of Denver, Co., Silvia (John) Schueren of Fremont, Sandra (Gary) Fruchey of Genoa. Also surviving to cherish Armando's memory are many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit at the Eggleston-Meinert Funeral Home, Woodville Road Chapel, 1111 Woodville Road, Millbury, Ohio, from 2-9 p.m. today and Wednesday with a sermonette service to be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Victory Christian Fellowship, 2051 Oak Harbor Road, Fremont, Ohio, where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Clay Township cemetery. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Armando's memory are asked to consider his family.

John K. Hess Sr.

John K. Hess, Sr. 71 of Reno, Nevada, and formerly of Tiffin, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in Washoe Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 9, 1930, in Tiffin where he resided for 29 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores.

Survivors include: four sons, John K. Jr., Jeffery, James and Jerome; and three sisters, Edna Fritz, Audrey Horn, and Irene Martorana; all of Tiffin.

Mr. Hess was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force the Korean Conflict

Cremation took place and burial will be in Tiffin.

Ruth Ann Price

Ruth Ann Price, 61, of Clyde, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, in Bellevue Hospital following a lengthy illness.

She was born May 5, 1940, in Bucyrus to the late Jacob F. and Ethel (Barnes) Price.

Survivors include: two brothers, Leonard Price of Toole, Utah and Dalton E. Price of Clyde; and a sister, Mrs. John (Mildred) Molnar of Toledo.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion United Church of Christ in Fireside, Ohio. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memory Gardens in Clyde.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Foos-Klein Funeral Home, 318 S. Main St. in Clyde.

Dora E. Borentz

Dora Eileen Borentz, 83, of Carey, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Eaglewood Care Center in Carey.

She was born Nov. 26, 1918, in Carey to the late Roy J. and Mary (Myrtle) Kirkwood. She married John Warren Borentz on April 7, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York. He died April 18, 1968.

Survivors include: two daughters, Joni Kathleen Tall of Seattle, Wash., and Sara Jane Perez of Tucson, Ariz., two grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Aldo (Mary Joseph) Cesarini of Marshfield, Mass., and Mrs. Gerold (Jean Jacqueline) Rickle of Carey.

She was a member of the U. S. Army Nurses Corp where she served with the 48 Mobil Surgical Unit, landing at Arzew, Africa on D-Day. She also served in the American Theater and the African Invasion, finally joining the 128 Evacuation Hospital. She earned the rank of 1st Lt. and earned three Bronze Battle Stars.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. Full military graveside services will be in Spring Grove cemetery in Carey.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Paul Richard Lang

Paul Richard Lang, 81, of 101 Wall St., Tiffin, died at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Autumnwood Care Center.

He was born Aug. 23, 1920, in Tiffin, to the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Seidler) Lang. He married Mary Jane Berrier on May 10, 1947, in St. Mary Catholic Church and she survives.

Survivors include: two sons, James (Marla) Lang and Mark Lang both of Tiffin; three daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Marsha) Danhoff of Willard, Mrs. David (Debra) Kuhn of Fostoria, and Mrs. Ken (Rose) Zoeller of Tiffin; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Lang and a grandson, Daniel Kuhn.

Mr. Lange was a 1938 Columbian High School graduate and a 1942 Tiffin University graduate.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and he received the Good Conduct Medal. He retired after 23 years as a cost accountant at Allied Signal in Fostoria.

He was a member and volunteer of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin and a member of the American Legion Post 354 in New Riegel.

The rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. The Rev. Frank Murd will be the officiant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home in Tiffin, with a parish wake service at 3:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary School Tuition Assistance Fund, Seneca County Dialysis Center or Autumnwood Care Center, in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, OH 44883.

Donald K. Ekleberry

Donald K. Ekleberry, 72, of New Philadelphia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001.

Born Feb. 23, 1929, in Sycamore, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Thelma Bare Ekleberry. Don attended Sycamore High School and served in the U. S. Army.

In 1967, he founded D. Ekleberry Concrete, which he operated until his retirement in 1990.

Don was a member of Cement Masons Local 109 of Akron. He was a hard working businessman; and in his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the dog races in Wheeling, W. Va.

Survivors include two sons, William Ekleberry of Atwood Lake, and Donald (Roseanne) Ekleberry of Toledo; three grandchildren, Casey, Dionna, and Nathan; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Marge) Ekleberry of Sycamore, and Bob (Phyllis) Ekleberry of Carrothers; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, an infant sister preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia, with Pastor Dode Overton of the New Life Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Nevada cemetery in Nevada, Ohio.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in the funeral home.

Jerrel L. Bess

Jerrel "Jerry" L. Bess, 69, of Grafton, W. Va., formerly of Tiffin, died on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at his home.

He was born on June 22, 1932, in Earlhurst, Va., to Andy Lee and Radie Ann (Arritt) Bess. Both are deceased. He married Nola May Hopple on March 31, 1952, in Junction City, Kansas. They divorced in 1972. In the fall of 1973 he married Fannie Ann (Heppler) Currier. They later divorced.

He served in the National Guard and later joined the Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Basic Inc. in 1992 after 37 years of service.

Survivors include: a son Andrew R. of Tiffin and a daughter Shirley Jean Bess of Upper Sandusky; four brothers, Julian W. Sr. and Arthur W. of Covington, Va., Gary D. of Picayuna, Miss., and C. Patrick of Grafton, W. Va.; one sister, Estella F. Kober of Switland, Md.; and three grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home, SR 50 West, Grafton, W. Va. 26354. Burial will be at the National cemetery in Grafton.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

W. Dan Rife

W. Dan Rife, 65, of Upper Sandusky, died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 11, 2001, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 6, 1936, in Bucyrus to Grier S. and Leafa E. (Dudley) Rife. Both are deceased. He married Carolyn J. Brown on April 30, 1961, in Bucyrus and she survives.

Survivors also include: two daughters, Mrs. Quinton (Kim) Clady of Sycamore, and Mrs. Dan (Beckie) Patchett of Upper Sandusky; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Gwen Becknell of Thomasville, Ga., and Shirley Stahl of Inverness, Fla.

Mr. Rife served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1956.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

M. Marjorie Coultas

M. Marjorie Coultas, 85, of Fremont, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in Bethesda Care Center in Fremont.

She was born Oct. 26, 1916, in Findlay to the late Merle K. and Edna P. (Hirshberger) Miller. She married Stephen W. Coultas on Oct. 22, 1943, and he survives.

Survivors also include: two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Judith) Jacobs of Chicago and Mrs. Dennis (Susan) Rolfe of Chillicothe; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. Burial will be in McPherson cemetery.

Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Inez L. Shoup

Inez L. Shoup, 82, of rural Attica, died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard.

She was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Attica to the late Guy and Edna (Dawson) Gurney.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Attica-Venice Township cemetery.

Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 1295 W. Tiffin St. in Attica.

Ronald H. Powers

Ronald H. Powers, 59, 110 Seville Court, Florissant, Mo., formerly of Tiffin, died Wednesday Dec. 12, 2001, at his home, after a six-month illness. He was born May 20, 1942, in Tiffin, to the late Merle and Vera (Moyer) Powers. On June 17, 1967, in St. Louis, he married Rita A. Winkelman and she survives.

Also surviving are a son, David; and two daughters, Christine and Janette Powers, all of St. Louis; a sister, Sandy L. Keirns of Carlsbad, Calif. and a brother, Bruce A. Powers of Tiffin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Powers.

Mr. Powers graduated from Columbian High School in 1960 and DeVry Institute in Chicago in 1962. At the time of his death he was employed at McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing Corp. for 39 years.

Visitation will be at the Hutchens Mortuary, Florissant, from 3-8 p.m. today Dec. 14. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday Dec. 15 at the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Angela Merici Church, Florissant. Graveside services will be at Holy Cross cemetery, Ellisville, Mo.

Memorials can be sent to: Brain Tumor Center at Duke University, in Memory of Ronald H. Powers, Duke Medical Center, Duke Hospital South, Room 047 Baker House, Durham, N.C. 27710.

Richard J. Billings

Richard J. Billings, 80, of CR 62, Upper Sandusky, died at 3:04 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001 at Grant-Riverside Hospital in Columbus. He was born Nov. 3, 1921 to Hobert and Fern (Lanker) Billings. On Aug. 13, 1942 he married Janis Salyer. She survives.

Other survivors include: four sons, James H. and Charles R. Billings, both of Bucyrus, Daniel H. Billings of Sycamore and Jerry A. Billings of Forest; four daughters, Lenora Clark and Betty J. Ritter, both of Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Mary Williams of Melmore and Nana Jane Billings of Bucyrus; a sister, Ida Weber of Upper Sandusky; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Billings is a veteran, having served during World War II in the Army Air Corps in the European Theater.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge cemetery in Sycamore.

Visitation hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Military rites will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Inez L. Shoup

Inez L. Shoup, 82, of rural Attica, died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 12, 2001, at Hillside Acres Nursing Home, Willard. She was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Attica to the late Guy and Edna (Dawson) Gurney.

Mrs. Shoup was a graduate of Attica High School, class of 1936, a homemaker and loved working with flowers and gardening. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Sunday School teacher, women's group, Jr. Lutherans, Luther League counselor and choir member. Mrs. Shoup also was a member of the Seneca County Farm Bureau, Farm Bureau Council and active in Farm Bureau women's meetings.

Mrs. Shoup received a diploma and teaching certificate from Sherwood Music School under the direction of Leonlyn Fritz and organ lessons at Heidelberg College. She gave piano and organ lessons and volunteered at Hillside Acres Nursing Home for 20 years.

Mrs. Shoup is survived by her husband, Donald L. Shoup, whom she married Sept. 21, 1939; one son, L. Dean Shoup and his wife Anna of Bloomville; three grandchildren: Rick Shoup and his wife Lisa with two great-grandchildren, Nicole and Justin of Virginia; Michelle Clark and her husband David of Texas and Brent Shoup of Virginia; three step-grandchildren: Curtiss Boggess of Florida, Donna Evans and her husband Neil with three step-great-grandchildren: Michael, Stephanie and Kristy of Galion and David Boggess of Bloomville; one sister, Alice Eitle and her husband Lauren of Attica; and one brother, Lloyd Gurney and his wife Carolyn of Arizona. Two sisters-in-law; Clara Gurney and Violet Gurney of Attica and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and George Gurney and two sisters, Edith Myers and Doris Hamilton.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Dec. 15, 2001, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Rev. James L. Barkenquast officiating. Burial will be in the Attica-Venice Township cemetery, Attica.

Friends may call 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 1295 W. Tiffin St., Attica.
