Willis E. Fosty

Willis E. Fosty, 93, of Fostoria, died at 3:07 a.m. Jan. 2, 2002, at the Independence House in Fostoria.

He was born Feb. 5, 1908, in Alvada, to Frank J. and Caroline (Dible) Fosty. Both are deceased. He married Florence A. Nye on May 14, 1945, in St. Peter Catholic Church in Alvada. She preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2000.

Survivors include: a mission son, Father Fabian of Uganda; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fosty was a World War II United States Army Veteran.

The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by services at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wendelin Church, Fostoria. Burial will be in St. Peter Parish cemetery in Alvada.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria with a Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Minor A. Rinker

Minor A. Rinker, 88, of Mt. Jackson, Va. died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock.

He was born Jan. 28, 1913, in Rockingham County to the late Mervin W. and Alice (Cowger) Rinker. He was preceded in death by two wives, Eunice B. Rinker and Elaine Rinker.

He is survived by: two sons, Alvin Rinker of Mt. Jackson and Dean Rinker of New Market; two daughters, Gloria Rupert of Gainesville, Ga., and Judy Hildebrand of Ruckersville, Va., two sisters, Edith Junkins of Arlington, Va., and Irene Woods of Tiffin; three brothers, William and Melvin Rinker of Tiffin, and Roy Rinker of Puyallup, Wash., 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services took place Wednesday at St. Mary's Pine Lutheran Church in Mt. Jackson, Va. Burial was in Mt. Jackson cemetery.

Dellinger Funeral Home in Mt. Jackson, Va. was in charge of arrangements.

Jacob H. "Jake" Martin

Jacob H. "Jake" Martin, 70, 191 Sycamore St., Tiffin, Ohio, died Wednesday Jan. 2, 2002, at his residence.

He was born May 5, 1931, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Paul R. Sr. and Margarete (Drum) Martin. His wife, Alice (VanCamp) Martin, whom he married March 6, 1954, in Tiffin, Ohio, survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Jill L. and husband John Mathias of Tiffin, Ohio; a son, Jacob T. and wife Kathi Martin of Elyria, Ohio; two sisters, Margeann Stephens of Centerville and Phyllis Moor of Port Clinton; and four grandchildren, Matthew and Nathan Mathias and Alexander and Michael Martin.

A brother, Paul R. Martin Jr., is deceased.

A 1949 graduate of Columbian High School, Mr. Martin was retired as supervisor of buildings and grounds for Tiffin Board of Education. Previously he had worked several years for Martin Brothers Plumbing and Heating and 10 years as plant manager for Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. An Air Force veteran, stationed in Okinawa during the Korean Conflict, he was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Rotary International, where he served as past president, AmVets Post 48 and the Elks Golf League.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Jan. 5, 2002, in the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Margaret Marks officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church.

Mrs.Ruth (Meisner) Skeels

Mrs.Ruth (Meisner) Skeels, 82, of Bellevue, died on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002. She was born Nov. 25, 1919 in Amsden, Ohio to Edson and Bertha (Adams) Meisner. On August 28, 1940 she married J. Warren Ward, he preceded her in death on January 27, 1976 and she later married Robert Skeels.

She was a 1937 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and a member of Fireside United Church of Christ. She was a retired caterer. She enjoyed playing cards and going to flea markets. She is survived by a grandson, Brett and Marcia Mingus.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, her daughter, Karen Mingus and Karen's husband, Richard Mingus, her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue, Ohio with the funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fireside UCC in Fireside, Ohio.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Luella T. Rall

Luella T. Rall, 91, of 15099 SH 67, Upper Sandusky, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at Wyandot Manor Nursing Home. She was born July 19, 1910 to Albert N. and Susan (Frey) Kuntz. On Oct. 4, 1932 she married Adrian L. Rall, he died July 7, 1981.

Surviving include: a son, Martin Rall of Upper Sandusky; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Hohman of Jamestown, N.Y., and Mrs. Melanie Liles of Marion; four sisters, Alfrieda Schaffert of Fostoria, Delores and Donna Thiel, both of Kirby, and Mary E. Jaqueth of Upper Sandusky; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2002 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Peter Catholic cemetery in Upper Sandusky.

Visitation hours are from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Bringman-Clark & Co. Funeral Home. Biblical Scripture service will be 4:30 p.m. followed by CLC Memorial Prayer services.

Harold Slater

Harold Slater, 79, of 232 Lelar St., Tiffin, died at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 in his home. He was born March 11, 1922 to Thomas and Dora Slater. He married Rosemary Watson, she later remarried .

Surviving include: two sons, Thomas Slater of Traverse City, MI., and William Slater of Orlando, Fla.; daughter, Lynda Allarding of Tiffin; eight grandchildren and a great grandchild..

Mr. Slater was a WW II Veteran serving in the U.S. Army

A Memorial service will be held in Michigan at a later date.

Turner-Engle Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Irene E. Powell

Irene E. Powell, 90, of Charlottesville, Virginia, and former Republic resident, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2002, in Charlottesville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., today, Jan. 4, 2002, at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 South SR 19, Bloomville.

Visitation hours will be this afternoon from 12 noon until the time of the services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or to Hospice of the Piedmont.

James D. Kastor

James D. Kastor, 59, of 327 Mechanic St., Clyde, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at St. Francis Health Center. He was born April 17, 1942 to Merritt and Virginia Mae (Franks) Kastor.

Surviving is a daughter, Coni Birch of Tiffin; three brothers, Rolland Kastor of Fremont, Gene Kastor of Tx., and Gerald Kastor of Clyde; and two grandchildren.

Foos-Klein Funeral Home, Clyde is handling the arrangements.

Harvey L. Mizen Sr.

Harvey L. Mizen Sr., 73, 140 Union St., Tiffin, Ohio, died Thursday Jan. 3, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 7, 1928, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Albert T. and Ida (Luman) Mizen. On July 30, 1955, in Tiffin, Ohio, he married Jeanette C. Dull,, who survives.

Other survivors include: five sons, Harold T. and Harvey L. Jr. Mizen, both of Tiffin, Albert T. Mizen III of Findlay, Kenneth E. Mizen of Tiffin and Larry L. Mizen of Arizona; two daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Viola M.) Gathers of Tiffin and Mrs. Ray (Dorothy J.) Sanchez of Denver, CO; a granddaughter, Jessica L. Mizen of Tiffin, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. James (Frances E.) Rowlett of Bloomville, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Robert and Albert Mizen, also are deceased.

Mr. Mizen had been employed: as a mold maker at American Standard for 42 1/2 years; paper route for the Advertiser-Tribune and a school crossing guard. A Korean Conflict Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 169, life member of DAV, life member and past commander of VFW Post 2858 where he was a life Cootie member and past Seam Squirrel; past president and Golden Eagle of Eagles Aerie 402; AmVets Post 48 and the Church of the Nazarene.

Funeral services will be at 11 am. Tuesday Jan. 8, in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.Monday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. Combined military services will be at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

Geraldine M. Brockschmidt

Geraldine M. Brockschmidt, 73, of 415 W. Smith St., Gibsonburg, died at 8:40 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, in Fremont Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 10, 1928, in Fostoria to Dexter and Genevieve (Kinn) Babb. On Feb. 5, 1949, she married Bernard W. Brockschmidt in Fostoria.

Survivors include: her husband of Gibsonburg; two sons, Robert B. of Fostoria, and Steven W. of Bowling Green; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven sisters, Laura Rowe, Elma Barchus, Mrs. David (Jean) Weiker, Mrs. Donald (Waunita) Fox and Mrs. Stewart (Janet) King of Fostoria, Wilma Best and Mrs. John (Rose) Michaels of Willard.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria, with interment in St. Wendelin cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

George Munoz, Sr.

George Munoz, Sr., 86, currently of Wyandotte, Mich. and formerly of Fostoria, died at 2:18 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in Riverside Hospital, Trenton, Mich.

He was born March 12, 1915, in Mexico to Ignacio and Carlota (Sanchez) Munoz. He married Herlinda Venegas May 1, 1939, in Napoleon; and she survives in Michigan.

Other survivors include: two sons, George, Jr. of Dearborn, Mich., and Tony of Madison Heights, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert T. (Teresa A.) Gleich of Wyandotte, Mich., and Mrs. Patricia Good of Michigan; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Soccorow Rivera of Fostoria.

He served in the Army during World War II, K Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Infantry Div., 60th Regiment, 1st Army, Battle of the Bulge, Hurtign Forrest.

Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with burial in the St. Wendelin Parish cemetery where the United Veterans of Fostoria will conduct military graveside honors.

Visitation is noon-8 p.m., Sunday, in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.

Robert J. England

Robert J. England, 32, of 531 S. Patterson St., Carey, died at 1:12 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

He was born June 3, 1969, in Tiffin to Barbara J. Bridgford-England who survives in Carey. Other survivors include: two brothers, Willis E. of Upper Sandusky, and Harold J. of Sycamore; two sisters, Mary J. Jarvis of Sycamore, and Rebecca L. England of Carey; and eight nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with burial in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Armella M. Krebs

Armella M. (Falter) Krebs, 100, of New Washington, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at the Independence House in Fostoria.

She was born Dec. 28, 1901, in Seneca County to the late Cornelius and Susannah (Gengler) Falter. She married Victor F. Krebs on June 10, 1924, and he preceded her in death in 1955.

Survivors include: a son, Donald E. Krebs of Tom's River, N.J.; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Ann Marie) Hageman of Lakewood, and Mrs. Floyd (Susan) Lawless of Fostoria; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington, where there will be a prayer service at 8:45 p.m.

Louise L. Louys

Louise L. Louys, 91, of North Union St., Fostoria, died at 3:36 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Independence House in Fostoria.

She was born March 17, 1910, in Bryan to the late Frederic and Laura (Krauss) Louys.

Survivors include: a sister, Lamoille Huffman of Bryan, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Fostoria. Burial will be in Shiffler cemetery in Bryan.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, where a Delta Kappa Gamma Memorial Service will take place at 6 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.

The Rev. Wayne H. Watson

The Rev. Wayne H. Watson, 67, of Clyde, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Fulton County, Ohio, to the late Francis and Helen (Grove) Watson. He married Carol A. Bloomer on July 11, 1959, and she survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, Daniel Watson of Fremont and Jeffrey Watson of Clyde; a daughter, Mrs. Matthew (Jennifer) Misner of Ft. Wayne, Ind., four sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Cornelia) Warren of Jacksonville, Mo., Mrs. Mary Ellen Mays of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Mrs. Jerry (Lucille) Baker of Warsaw, Ill., and Mrs. Dwayne (Becky) Bond of Excello, Mo., and four grandchildren.

Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Missionary Church in Clyde. Interment will be in Parkhurst cemetery.

Visitation is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde.

Terry W. Mundwiler

Terry Wayne Mundwiler, 50, of Risingsun, died at 6:53 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born Oct. 15, 1951, in Fostoria, to Gerald and Mary E. (Correll) Mundwiler. He is deceased and she survives in Risingsun.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne. Burial will be in Bradner cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Barndt Funeral Home.

Ralph G. McClung Sr.

Ralph G. McClung Sr., 66, of Fostoria, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born Nov. 1, 1935, in Lewisburg, W. Va., to Charles L. and Virginia M. (Kessler) McClung. Both are deceased. He married Charlene M. Meyers on Jan. 5, 1957, in Chicago, Ill. She preceded him in death Nov. 25, 2001.

Survivors are: two sons, Ralph G. McClung, Jr., and Christopher L. McClung, both of Fostoria; two daughters, Mrs. Jess (Charlene) Opperman of Columbus, and Mrs. David (Donna) Bucholtz of Fostoria; a brother, Charles McClung of Orlando, Fla., a sister, Janet Minor of Upper Sandusky; and three grandchildren.

Mr. McClung was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

Services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Fostoria United Veterans Group in Fountain cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
