John R. Foltz

John R. Foltz, 67, of Bradner, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at his home following a sudden illness. He was born in Toledo on Jan. 19, 1935, to the late John Ellis and Martha (Kille) Foltz.

Survivors include: three sons, Michael Foltz of Luckey, Steven (Deborah) Foltz of Elmore and Daniel Foltz of Cincinnati; two daughters, Cari (Bill) Heinemann of Woodville and Wendy (Barry) Pennell of Attica; a sister, Nora Wilkins of Risingsun; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also preceding him in death was a step-grandson.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. John's United Church of Christ, Elmore, with Rev. John W. Bock officiating. Internment will be in Union cemetery, Elmore.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore.

William Edward Tackett

William Edward Tackett, 83, of 101 River Street, Mt. Blanchard, died at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at his residence. He was born on June 14, 1918, in Staffordville, Ky. to the late Ted and Eva (Horn) Tackett. He married Gladys V. Ward on June 30, 1939, in Paintsville, Ky. and she survives.

Other survivors include: four sons, Dean Tackett of Arlington, Merle Tackett of Mt. Blanchard, Darryl Tackett of Forest and Wallace Tackett of Addison, Mich.; four daughters, Charles (Sue) Benner of Fairborn, Joe (LaDonna) Call of Defiance, Hugo (Vicki) Borja of Miami, Fla. and Jan (Evelyn) Markowski of Jackson, Mich.; three brothers, Kenneth Tackett of Carey, Walter Tackett of Willard and Loranzo Tackett of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a sister, Elva Hackworth of Vanlue; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a brother, Thomas Tackett.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Stony Ridge United Baptist Church with the Elders Doug Ward and Denver Caudill officiating. Internment will be in Zion Bloom cemetery, Vanlue.

Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Friday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey and noon -1 p.m. at the church Saturday.

John L. Reinhart

John L. Reinhart, 57, of Midway, Pa., died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 15, 2002, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburg, Pa. He was born on Feb. 23, 1944, in Fostoria to Leonard L. and Mildred M. (Schmitz) Reinhart and she survives in New Riegel. His companion, Linda Bauer also survives in Pennsylvania.

Other survivors include: three sons, Gary Vera of Tiffin, Leonard J. Reinhart and John Reinhart, both of Salem; two brothers, Robert R. Reinhart of New Riegel and William C. Reinhart of Alvada; five sisters, Jane M. Carbone of Canton, Mich., Susan R. Schlachter of Defiance, Nancy J. Sites of Bloomdale, Mary L. Voigt of Findlay and Carol S. Reinhart of San Diego, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry J. Reinhart and a sister, Linda A. Ulrich.

A Rosary will be prayed at 10:10 a.m. Saturday followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church, Alvada. Father Leonard Kistler C.PP.S. will officiate. Christian wake service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Hoening Funeral Home, Tiffin. Internment will be in St. Peter Parish cemetery, Alvada.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday at Hoening Funeral Home, Tiffin.

Marian M. Abbott

Marian M. Abbott, 93, of 1713 Japack Dr., Fremont, died at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, in the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo.

She was born in Pleasant Twp. of Seneca County on Feb. 24, 1908, to Edward A. and Alice (Bauman) Fought. She lived in Fremont for 40 years.

Her first marriage was to Laurel C. Niles and they were married Aug. 17, 1933. He died in 1966. The second marriage was to Oral A. Abbott and they married April 1, 1967. He died May 5, 1999.

Survivors include: step-children Alice McRobbie and Kaye Abbott of Clarington, Pa.; a brother, William Fought of Clyde; a sister, Mildred Schwan of Clyde; and nieces and nephews.

A brother Howard and a sister Dorothy Kittle are also deceased.

She was a 1926 graduate of Green Springs High School; attended Tiffin University for two years; and was a clerk at J.C. Penney Store, Fremont, for nine years. She was a member of the Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, Fremont; a 50-year plus member of Isadore Chapter No. 299, Green Springs OES, and Green Springs Farm Women's Club.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, in Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, Fremont, with the Rev. Robert J. Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Green Springs cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, in Engle-Young Funeral Home, Green Springs, where there will be an Order of the Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church

Memorials may be made to the church or to the Order of the Eastern Star No. 299.

Hedwig K. 'Hattie' Siegle

Hedwig K. "Hattie" Siegle, 91, formerly of 3247 S. TR 113, Tiffin, Ohio, died Thursday Jan. 17, 2002, in the Ruffing Family Care Center of Tiffin.

She was born Oct. 11, 1910, in Aberbach, Germany, to the late Anton and Karoline (Bissell) Greulich. On June 28, 1930, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, Ohio, she married Emil C. Siegle Sr. He died May 31, 2000.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Emil H. and Alice Siegle Jr. of New Riegel; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Charlotte) Wagner of Newark, Ohio and Mrs. Richard (Christina) Kitts of Durham, N.C.; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A homemaker, Mrs. Siegle was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday Jan. 21, in St. Joseph Church, with the Rev. James K. Say officiating. The rosary will be prayed at the church at 10:45 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, and 10-11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church. A wake service will be at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.

Virginia A. O'Hagan

Virginia A. O'Hagan, 68, of 78 Tomb St., Tiffin, died at 2 a.m., Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, in the Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin.

She was born May 5, 1933, to Harold and Hilda (Miller) Dull and lived in Tiffin most of her life.

She married Michael T. O'Hagan and he is deceased.

Survivors include: a son, Michael T. of Tiffin; a daughter, Drusilla Curtis of Findlay; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford Dunn of Johnstown, Pa., and Clinton Dull of Walbridge; a sister, Jeanette Mizen of Tiffin; and many nieces and nephews.

Also deceased are two brothers, Vernon A. and Harold Dull; and two sisters, Kathryn Black and Jean Dull.

Her occupation was Home Health Care Center. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with the Pastor Shane Helms officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 1-3 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Janet 'Jan' Walter

Janet "Jan" Walter, 63, of Union Street, Bettsville, Ohio, died Thursday afternoon Jan. 17, 2002, at Riverside Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.

She was born in Fremont, Ohio Dec. 2, 1938, to Elmer H. and Ella E. (Kaiser) Fry. On June 11, 1960, she married M. Lee Walter, in Burgoon U.M. Church. He survives.

Also surviving "Jan" are sons, Gregory L. Walter of Risingsun, Ohio and Kevin R. Walter of Columbus; a daughter, Michele S. Cassidy of Fostoria, Ohio; a brother, Duane "Pete" Fry of Fremont; one aunt, Evalyn Kelley of Sun City Center, FL; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-grandson, as well as many cousins and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her sister, Norene Harpster.

She was a member of Jackson Burgoon Class of 1957 and Northwest Ohio Practical Nurse Training Center in 1958. She retired in 1983, after 29 years, from Fremont Memorial Hospital, where she was a practical nurse. She also did home health care. In the past she attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Fremont, as well as Burgoon United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday Jan. 21, at the Burgoon U.M. Church, where the body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Smith cemetery, Jackson Township.

Friends may call at the Nopper-Veh Funeral Home, 319 W. Madison St., Gibsonburg, Ohio, from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday.

Those wishing to make a memorial may make it to either church or the donor's choice.

William B. Roelle

William B. 'Bill' Roelle, 72, of South Poplar Street, Fostoria, died at 1:17 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, in Medical College of Ohio in Toledo.

He was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Sycamore to William and LaVere (Ennis) Roelle. He married Octa J. Day on June 3, 1978, in Fostoria and she survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: two sons, William B., Jr. of Bettsville and John of Toledo; four daughters, Bonnie Sue Eisenhour of Burgoon, Debra Recker of Tiffin, Mrs. Tom "Carolyn" Podach of Fostoria, and Anna Robinson of Sebastian, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles of Fostoria.

He retired from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with burial in Fountain cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Joint Veterans Group of Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Phyllis Harrison Sleasman

Phyllis Harrison Sleasman, 75, of South Main Street, Clyde, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, in St. Charles Mercy Medical, Oregon.

She was born Aug. 12, 1926, in Grand Rapids, to Arch and Nellie (Culbertson) Harrison. She married Merle R. Sleasman who died in May of 1993.

Survivors include: a son, Jeffrey of Clyde; two daughters, Jody Bogner of Tiffin, and Mrs. Clarence (Jamie) Aiken of Brimfield; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Calkins of Lebanon.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, in the First United Methodist Church, Race Street, Clyde, with interment in McPherson cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.

Madge R. Freeman

Madge R. Freeman, 85, of Westerly, Rhode Island; and formerly of the Tiffin area, died Wednesday in the Clipper Home of Westerly.

She was born March 13, 1916, in Fitchville, to Grant and Susan (Mickey) Crabbs. She married Max L. Freeman in Fitchville in 1941 and he is deceased.

Survivors include: a daughter, Esta Brickner of Ledyard, Conn.; a granddaughter; a brother, Benjamin Crabbs of Norwalk; and three sisters, Marjorie Crabbs of Norwalk, Esther Lowrey of Wellington, and Alice Watts of Toledo.

Private funeral services will be in Walker Funeral Home, Norwalk, with burial in Fitchville cemetery.

Alvin C. Clouse

Alvin C. Clouse, 74, of 813 Carahan Ave., Findlay, died at 9:02 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at his residence. He was born on Feb. 18, 1927, in Crawford Township, Wyandot County, to the late Charles A. and Dorothy (Lutz) Clouse. He married Suzanne Schwab-Shumaker on July 10, 1970, and she survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, C. Scott Clouse of Columbus, Michael T. Shumaker and Steven B. Shumaker of Findlay; two daughters, Julia A. Sterling of Findlay and Mrs Vernon (Sharon) Burkholder of Republic; a brother, Wilford J. Clouse of Tiffin; four sisters, Mrs. Ray (Patricia) Reinhart of Tiffin, Charlene Lange of Arizona, Mrs. Henry (Barbara) Lodge of Kirby and Mrs. Dwight (Rita) Ruhlen of Newport News, Va.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Franklin Clouse and Richard Clouse; a sister, Virgilia Ann Holman; and a step-son, Kenneth Shumaker.

Mr. Clouse was a retired Mutual of Omaha Insurance agent and also was employed at Fuel Mart in Findlay. He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Findlay; VFW member of Ralph D. Cole Post No. 3 American Legion and a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II.

Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, Findlay, with the Rev. Joseph A. Walters officiating. Internment will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Hancock Veteran's Memorial Squad.

Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, Findlay.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 620 N. Main St. Findlay, or Bridge Home Health and Hospice, 415 College St., Findlay.

Herman J. Frankart

Herman Joseph Frankart, 81, of 12995 West Twp. 112, Fostoria, died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at his residence. He was born on Dec. 23, 1920, in Wood County to Dominic J. and Rosa M. (Kinn) Frankart, both of whom are deceased. He married Ann Josephine Naderer on Nov. 10, 1945, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fremont and she survives.

Survivors include: five sons, Eugene M. Frankart, Duane E. (Jeanette) Frankart, Ernest L. (Cynthia) Frankart, Dale A. (Kelly) Frankart and Donald J. (Rhonda) Frankart, all of Fostoria; six daughters, Mrs. Tom (Dottie) Rushworth of Carmel, Ind., Mrs. Phil (Judy) Helterbrand of Fostoria, Mrs. Jim (Pat) Hilker of Toledo, Mrs. Paul (Rosie) Stanley of Sandusky, Mrs. Chad (Karen) Crosby of Greenfield, Ind., and Mrs. Ed (Connie) Gross of Toledo; three sisters, Mrs. Dean (Evelyn) Krupp of Carey, Mrs. Doyle (Carolyn) Baker of Fostoria and Mrs. Charles (Norma) Russell of Elyria; 32 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were four brothers, Raymond, Harold, Arthur and Charles Frankart; and two sisters, Edna Rosendale and Margaret Faeth.

Mr. Frankart was a lifelong Seneca County farmer and founder of Frankart's Egg Farm, Fostoria. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council and also, the St. Wendelin cemetery Advisory Committee. He was a third degree with the Knights of Columbus council #1197 and a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Fostoria. He was also a member of the American Legion in New Riegel.

Mr. Frankart served with the 103rd Army division in World War II.

Christian Wake Service will be 8:45 p.m. at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. The Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. Internment will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery. New Riegel American Legion will conduct military honors.

Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hoening Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to: St. Wendelin Schools Educational Foundation, "Teachers Are Our Treasures"; St. Joseph's Indian School, South Dakota; and Bridge Home Health and Hospice, Findlay.
