Orville D. Pursel
(1914 - 2004)

ARCHBOLD - Orville D. Pursel, 90, of Archbold, died Monday afternoon, Sept. 20, 2004, at his residence.
Born Feb. 23, 1914, near Archbold, to Lizzie (Short) and Weldon Pursel, he married Myrtle Spiess on Sept. 23, 1937, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 1939. He married Isabelle Fredrick on Jan. 16, 1943, and she survives.
An Archbold area resident all 61 years of his married life, he was a distributor of petroleum products for Fleet Wing, Sohio, and BP Oil companies for over 40 years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Archbold.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. Karl (Brenda) Schleunes of Greensboro, N.C.; a son, Joseph (and wife, Paula) Pursel of Rockville, Md.; three granddaughters, Anna (Michael Wilson) Schleunes of Charlotte, N.C., Rebekah Pursel and Amanda Pursel, both of Rockville, Md.; and a sister, Mabel Smith of Archbold.
Preceding him in death were his first wife; his parents; his stepmother, Lorene Pursel; and two brothers, Roscoe Pursel and Paul Pursel.
Visitation will be held today from 2-9 p.m. in the Short Funeral Home, Archbold.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in St. John's United Church of Christ with the Rev. David A. Voll to officiate. Interment will follow in the Lockport Cemetery, rural Stryker.
Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or to Hospice.

Conseulo B. McCullough
(1930 - 2004)

Consuelo B. "Connie" McCullough, 73, of Bryan, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan, after a brief illness.
Born Oct. 13, 1930, at Bryan, to Pearl Malsch and William Moog, she married Richard A. McCullough on May 14, 1949, at Angola, Ind., and he preceded her in death on July 16, 1988.
Employed by the former Bryan Custom Plastics for 33 years, she retired in 1995.
She was a member of the Bryan VFW Post 2489 Ladies Auxiliary and also the Bryan Eagles Aerie, 2233 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are five children, Mrs. Jim (Sandy)  Jones of West Unity, Mrs. Tim (Linda) Hartsock of Edon, Mike McCullough of Alvordton, Rick McCullough of Montpelier and Pat (and wife, Suzi) McCullough of Montpelier; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Naomi Pipes of Williams Center; special companion, Bob Impton of Bryan; and several nieces.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jason; a sister, Iola Chamberlain; and two brothers, Robert and Henry Moog.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan.
Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Diane Schaffner to officiate. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, Bryan.
Memorials may be made to the Williams County Humane Society.

Shirley J. Stratman
(1927- 2004)

HOWELL, Mich. - Shirley J. Stratman, 77, of Howell and formerly of Edgerton, Ohio, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, Mich. Born Aug. 4, 1927, at Williams Center, she married William W. Stratman in February 1971 at Las Vegas and he preceded her in death in June of 1998.
She moved to Howell from Garden City in 1994.
Surviving are her children, Mrs. Alan (Blythe) Patterson of Howell, Mrs. Don (Shawn) Fowler-Byrnes of Woodstock, Ga., Scott (and wife, Karen) Fowler of Alpharetta, Ga. and Mrs. Mark (Megan) Fowler-Ouillette of Howell; grandchildren, Kirsten, Breanne, Evan and Drew Patterson, Shanna and Trent Byrnes, Court and Caitlin Fowler and Chase and Lara Ouillette; great-grandson, Dylan Pizzutello; and a brother, Arthur Phillips of Oxford, England.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Myrna Miller.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 20, in the Keehn Funeral Home, 706 W. Main St., Brighton. Interment will take place at Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock, Mich.
Memorials may be made to LACASA, P.O. Box 72, Howell, MI 48843. Envelopes are available from the Keehn Funeral Home, Brighton.

Helen L. Spangler
(1926- 2004)

FRONTIER, Mich.- Helen L. Spangler, 78, of Frontier, Mich., died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at her residence.
Born Feb. 3, 1926, at Hillsdale, to Iva M. (Howard) and George C. Young, she married Harold Spangler on Jan. 6, 1945, and he preceded her in death in 2000.
She was a graduate of the Frontier High School.
Surviving are a daughter, Jo Ann Spangler of Pioneer, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Young of Reading; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were her parents; a sister, Arlene; and a brother, Howard.
Visitation will be held today from 6-8 p.m. in the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home, Hillsdale.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Don Harkey to officiate. Interment will follow at the Wyllys Cemetery in Cambria Township.
Memorials may be made to the Hillsdale County Humane Society.

Myrtle Ellen Pristas
(1921- 2004)

Myrtle Ellen Pristas, 82, of Bryan and formerly of Pleasant Lake, Ind., died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan.
Born Oct. 26, 1921, at Vincennes, Ind., to Mary (Ray) and Russell Rinehart, she married Andy Pristas on Nov. 30, 1940, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2000.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Angola, Ind. Surviving are two sons, Thomas Pristas of Bryan and Phillip (and wife, Sharon) Pristas of Cincinnati; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Steven Rinehart of Morgantown, W. Va. and Joseph Rinehart of Angola, Ind.; and four sisters, Roberta Bozimowski of Plymouth, Mich., Mickie Champion of Fremont, Ind., Delight Pirc of Milford, Conn. and Joyce Capone of Spokane, Wash. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Rinehart Jr. in 1982; and a sister, Ruth Collins in 1987.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Ind. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Pleasant Lake, Ind.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association or Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan.

Frances Marie Parsels
(1916- 2004)

NAPOLEON - Frances Marie Parsels, 88, of Napoleon, died Saturday morning, Sept. 18, 2004, at the Toledo Hospital, Toledo.
Born March 22, 1916, at Napoleon, to Inez (Rohdy) and Richard Bost Sr., she married Frank W. Parsels on Oct. 20, 1936, and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1998.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marty (Mary) Dickmander of rural Ridgeville Corners; a son, Charles (and wife, Kay) Parsels of Elida; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob Bost of Lewiston, Mich.; and a sister, Betty Hill of Napoleon.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Parsels; two brothers, Donald and Richard Bost Jr.; five sisters, Grace Weaver, Luella Lighthill, Edith Lulfs, Evelyn Zaleski and Marcella Fisher.
Visitation will be held Monday from 6-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, with the Rev. Kirk F. Peterson to officiate. Interment will be made at a later date in Hoy Cemetery, Harrison Township, Henry County.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
