Stewart K. Nighswander

Stewart K. Nighswander, 82, of 116 Monroe St., Bettsville, died 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Toledo Hospital.

He was born July 28, 1919, in Tiffin to George O. and Vinnie A. (Kies) Nighswander. He married Wanda (Mutchler) Nighswander Feb. 23, 1947, at the Burgoon United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Wanda (Mutchler) Nighswander of Bettsville; a son, Larry Nighswander and wife Marcy of Athens; two daughters, Mrs. Arlene (Mike) Messina of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Mrs. Mary Alice (Gary I.) Hammer of Willcox, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Lori, Michael and Dan Messina, all of Wilmington, Del., Gary Hammer II of Willcox, Ariz., Fred Hammer of Tuscon, Ariz., and Angela DuBois of Germany; and nine great-grandchildren, Samantha and Cody DuBois, Maricela, Isabel and Mary Hammer, Gary Hammer III, Kyle Baca, William and Dustin Mongomery.

Mr. Nighswander was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Vaughn, Claude, Dale and Gerald Nighswander; and three sisters, Wanda, Cleo and Florence Burson.

He was a resident of Bettsville for 42 years and retired from Conrail in 1984. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Mr. Nighswander served on the Bettsville Water Board, volunteered at Howard P. Eells Park and Mad River Train Museum, Bellevue, and was a member of the American Legion, Tiffin. He was a Bettsville High School graduate, class of 1941. He was a World War II veteran, an anti-aircraft gunner in the African and European theater seeing action in Corsica, France, Germany, Ireland, England and Africa.

Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Engle Funeral Home of Bettsville.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Alfred N. Yost

Alfred N. Yost, 82, 2805 McCutchenville Rd., Fostoria, died at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002, in Fostoria.

He was born June 7, 1919, in Carey, to the late Michael C. & Margaret M. (Ardner) Yost. On May 7, 1949, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, he married Mary A. Smith. She died Dec. 24, 2001.

Surviving are four sons, John R. Yost of Carey, Steven M. Yost of Upper Sandusky and James A. and Gerald P. Yost, both of Fostoria; five daughters,, Mrs. Wilfred (Susan) Tiell and Mrs. Michael (Margaret) Brady, both of Fostoria, Miss Diane M. Yost of Tiffin, Mrs. Thomas (Sharon) Wood of Findlay and Mrs. Jeffery (Amy) Wuebbolt of Fairfield; 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Yost of Carey; and a sister, Erma Brodman of Carey.

A granddaughter, Shelley Yost; a brother, Hubert Yost and a sister, Mary Anne Enck, also are deceased.

Mr. Yost retired in 1981 from Seneca Wire and Manufacturing in Fostoria; was also a lifetime self-employed farmer in Seneca and Wood counties and sold eggs for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and a Third Degree honorary life member of the Fostoria Knights of Columbus Council 1197. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he received the American Theater Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church. The rosary will be prayed at the church at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans of Fostoria.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria,, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin Church and Schools.

Frances May Annon

Frances May Annon, 81, formerly of 182 E. Market St., Apt. 213, Tiffin, died 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Arbors Nursing Home, Hilliard.

She was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Fostoria, to Howard and Elsie (Spurgeon) Young. She married Harold L. Annon, July 26, 1937, in Fostoria. He is deceased.

Survivors include: three sons, Robert L. Annon of North Dakota, and Harold Annon Jr. and William Annon, both of Tiffin; two sisters, Frances Fannin of Tiffin and Sherly Fincher of Columbus; 35 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Young of Tiffin and Charles Young of Fremont; and a sister, Geneva Boggs of Monroe Falls.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Jane Hook and Phyliss Moore; and two sisters, Rosella Thompson and Laura Lawhen.

Mrs. Annon lived in Tiffin for 15 years; previously, she lived in Risingsun.

She was a homemaker. Mrs. Annon a member of the Salvation Army, Home League, Merry Gold Grandmothers and the Moose.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home with the Sgt. Major Karen Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Robert G. Hayman

Robert G. Hayman, 80, formerly of West Street, Carey, died 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at Fairhaven Community Center, Upper Sandusky.

He was born April 23, 1921, in Carey to Hugh and Vivian (Twining) Hayman.

He married Marceline Risner and they divorced. He then married Arneiva Massengale. She survives in Carey.

Other survivors include: a son, Jonathan Hayman of Carey; a daughter, Joyce A. Bostwick of Findlay; two step-sons, Terry Hunter and Keither Hunter, both of Carey; three grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Hayman of Tiffin.

Mr. Hayman served as 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army during World War II.

His funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lloyd A. Kelbley

Lloyd A. Kelbley, 86, 6901 W. US 224, Tiffin, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

He was born July 22, 1915, in Bascom, to the late Andrew W. and Anna C. (Kuhn) Kelbley. On July 3, 1939, in St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, Cleveland, he married Carol M. Charlton. She preceded him in death Dec. 31, 1989.

Surviving are sons, John R. Kelbley of Nashport, Ohio, Joseph A. Kelbley of Fostoria, and Jerome M. and Jeffrey P. Kelbley, both of Westerville; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sons, Jacob, Jerard and James W. Kelbley; a daughter, Jean Marie; brothers, Walter, Roscoe, Ralph, Homer and Paul Kelbley; and a sister, Susie (Mary Lucille) Murphy,

A graduate of Columbian High School, Mr. Kelbley was a carpenter. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bascom.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the Rev. Art Niewiadomski officiating. The rosary will be prayed at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick cemetery, Bascom.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care of Seneca County or a charity of the donor's choice.

Edward L. Tyree

Edward L. Tyree, 52, of 5890 E. SR 18, Tiffin, died 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at his home.

He was born March 23, 1950, in Whitesburg, Ky., to the late Andrew and Oma (Lucas) Tyree. He married Sylvia (Lovins) Tyree on Feb. 7, 1978, in Tiffin.

Survivors include: his wife, Sylvia Tyree of 5890 E. SR 18, Tiffin; three sons, Michael Tyree of El Paso, Texas, Christopher Tyree of Galion and Edward D. Tyree of Fort Campbell, Ky.; four step-children; five grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; eight brothers; and four sisters.

Mr. Tyree was preceded in death by a brother.

He lived in Tiffin most of his life and worked at Hayes-Albion as a supervisor.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenlawn cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Seneca County.

Martha E. Shank

Martha E. Shank, 81, of N. TR 43, Fostoria, died 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.

She was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Fostoria, to Orestus and Jeletta (Swartzmiller) Potteiger. She married Carl J. Shank Aug. 26, 1951 in Fostoria. He survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: three sons, Raymond J. Nye, Tom Nye and Jack D. Nye, all of Fostoria; two brothers, Robert Pottieger of Concord, Calif., and Theodore Potteiger of Findlay; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great, great-grandchild.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be at Knollcrest Gardens near Arcadia.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Anna Lucille Keller

Anna Lucille (Grubel) Keller, 84, 510 Hedges St., Tiffin, died at 6:27 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

She was born June 14, 1917, in Tiffin, to the late Ralph and Gertrude (Kimmet) Grubel. On Sept. 27, 1941, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married Allen O. Keller. He died Aug. 30, 1969.

Surviving are three sons, Myron "Marv" (Deborah W.) Keller of Sandusky, Robert Allen (Diane) Keller of Berea and Ralph James Keller of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Carol (James) Agerter of Carey; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Keller was a private duty nurse in homes and hospitals. Most recently she worked at the Cactus Steak House in Tiffin. She was a 1935 Calvert High School graduate and attended Toledo Mercy School of Nursing for two years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin, its Rosary Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella (past regent); the American Legion Auxiliary 169 (life member and past president); and the Fremont 8 & 40 (past chapeaux 597). She also belonged to Church Women United and helped on Red Cross Blood Drives.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Frank Murd officiating. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the funeral Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic cemetery, Tiffin.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today, April 12, at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio (419) 447-3113.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, the Calvert Foundation or the American Red Cross in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Rex E. 'Fireball' Vent

Rex E. "Fireball" Vent, 73, of 219 N. 7th St., Upper Sandusky, died at 3:43 p.m. at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. Born Nov. 20, 1928 to Walter and Carrie (Clinger) Vent. On Oct. 22, 1949 he married Ruth Ann Orians in John Stewart United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky, and she survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Roxann Sanchez of Lakeside, and Mrs. Rhonda Woods of Sycamore; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a step grandchild, and two step great grandchildren.

Services at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2002 at Bringman Clark & Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Burial Old Mission cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m., today, at the funeral home. An Elks memorial service will be held tonight at 8:45 p.m.

Melle Landversicht

The funeral for Melle G. Landversicht, 93, of the Lutheran Home, Napoleon, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky.

Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m Monday at the Bringman-Clark and Co. funeral home and one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church.

Darrell L. Baumunk

Darrell L. Baumunk, 47, of 8349 W. SR 12, Fostoria, died at 3:55 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2002, at Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born Feb. 19, 1955, in Fostoria, to Burgess R. and Miriam E. (Handley) Baumunk. He married Mary J. (Hampton) Baumunk on June 6, 1992, in Findlay. She survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: his parents, Burgess and Miriam Baumunk of Findlay; a son, Christopher L. Baumunk of Fostoria; a step-son, Geoffrey J. Phillips of Fostoria; four daughters, Joanna Shaffer, Amy M. Baumunk and Jessica S. Foltz, all of Findlay, and Stephanie Baumunk of Fostoria; three step-daughters, Shawnasy L. Armstrong of Dayton, Melissa J. Phillips of Fostoria and Miranda K. Phillips of Lima; a brother, Ronald D. Baumunk of Rawson; three sisters, Connie Breitigam and Carol Lydick, both of Findlay, and Lora M. Warner of Carey; six grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

John T. 'Jack' Dalton

John T. "Jack" Dalton, 69, of CR 247, Vickery, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at his residence.

He was born May 14, 1932, in Fremont to the late Matthew and Kathryn (Dickman) Dalton. He married Beverly "Bea" (Weasner) Dalton. She survives in Vickery.

Other survivors include: three sons, David Dalton of Vickery, Steven Dalton of Streetsboro and John R. Dalton of Westerville; a daughter, Mary Dalton of Vickery; a brother, Patrick Dalton of Vickery; two sisters, Jeanne Gatter of Avon and Betty Schneider of Fremont.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde. Burial will be at Parkhurst cemetery in Clyde.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde with Christian Wake services at 8:30 p.m.

Pokie H. Vinyard

Pokie H. Vinyard, 78, formerly of 211-1/2 E. Findlay St., Carey, died at 10:35 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2002, at St. Catherine's Care Center in Findlay.

She was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Dock, Ky., to the late Frank and Cindy (Slone) Johnson. She married Howard A. Vinyard July 14, 1957. He died Feb. 4, 1972.

Survivors include: a daughter, Bonnie L. Davis of Carey; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rubin Johnson of Georgia and Alex Johnson of Wauseon; three sisters, Alice Hicks of Alger, Goldie Flanery of Columbus and Della Ousley of Willard.

Private graveside services will be at Spring Grove cemetery in Carey.

Russell M. Keckler Sr.

Russell M. Keckler Sr., 71, of 1235 N. TR 20 Fostoria, died 7:53 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2002, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

He was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Kansas, Ohio to the late Claude J. and Jessie E. (Myers) Keckler Sr. He married Joan E. (Doll) Keckler on Dec. 4, 1949, at the High Street United Methodist Church in Russell, Ky., and she survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: four sons, Russell M. Keckler Jr., Daniel S. Keckler, Dennis S. Keckler and Kevin R. Keckler, all of Fostoria; a sister, Mrs. LaFaun (Frank) Scott of Fostoria; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: four brothers, Everette Keckler, Getus Keckler, Cletus Keckler and Claude J. Keckler; two sisters, Eula Newkirk and Effie Healy; and a great-grandchild, Kennedy Elaine Keckler.

Mr. Keckler retired in Dec. 1992, as a Mueller man from Columbia Gas Co. after 45 years of service. He was a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria, where he taught Sunday School with his wife, and worked in the sound booth for many years. He had been attending High Street United Methodist Church in Fostoria and was a member of Gasco Quarter Century Club.

Private services will be at Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria with the Rev. Jeffrey Waite officiating.

Visitation also will be private.

Memorials may be made to the Children's Department of either Wesley or High Street United Methodist Churches, or to a charity of the donor's choice, c/o Mann-Hare Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Fostoria, OH 44883.
