Viola E. Frankart

Viola E. Frankart, 77, of rural Fostoria, died 1:10 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2002, in Winebrenner Village, Findlay.

She was born April 10, 1925, in Alvada to Daniel and Elizabeth (Frederitz) Kiefer. They are deceased.

She married Clair J. Frankart on June 22, 1946, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Alvada, and he died Jan. 24, 1999.

Survivors include: two sons, Earl Frankart and Arnold "Arnie" Frankart, both of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Sharon (Carl) Keller of Duluth, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Mr. Geneva Alt of New Riegel.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Welly.

Mrs. Frankart retired in 1974 from the Ford Motor Co., Fostoria, after 30 years. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and its Rosary-Altar Society, and Fostoria Eagles Auxiliary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. Burial will be at St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. Rosary will be prayed 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Bridge Hospice of Findlay.

Forrest B. Omwake

Forrest B. Omwake, 97, formerly of CR 5, Fostoria, a resident of Good Shepherd Nursing Home, died 8:46 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2002, at the nursing home.

She was born April 23, 1904 in Porter to Bruce and Effie (Swisher) Lawless. She married Carl J. Omwake on Nov. 19, 1928 in Albion, Ind. He died April 15, 1988.

Survivors include: three daughters, Wanda Siebenaller and Barbara McDonald, both of Fostoria, and Patricia Teffer of Toledo; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Private services were held. Burial was at Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.

Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Willet E. Sours

Willet E. Sours, 87, formerly of 135 Lincoln Road, Tiffin, died 12:45 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2002, at the Seneca House on Greenfield Street in Tiffin.

He was born April 17, 1914, in Bloom Township to Simon and Nettie (George) Sours. He married Mary Catharine (Walters) Sours on Feb. 24, 1940, in Old Fort. She survives at the Seneca House.

Other survivors include; a son, Mr. Ron E. and Patricia Sours of rural Tiffin, a daughter, Mrs. Carol (Sam) Schubert of Bellevue; and four grandchildren, Brian Schubert of Bellevue, Brad Schubert of Avon, Chad Sours of Tiffin and Michelle Sours of Dayton.

Mr. Sours was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Courvis Sours.

He lived in Tiffin all his married life, and he had retired from a lifelong career of farming. Mr. Sours graduated from Old Fort High School Class of 1932. He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Fostoria. He was a former church council member and 4-H advisor. Mr. Sours also enjoyed following his grandchildrens' sporting activities throughout high school and college.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin with the Rev. Lowell Reeder and the Rev. Don Giesmann officiating. Burial will be at Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 4-8 Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Grace United Church of Christ and Heartland Hospice.

Phyllis J. Ekleberry

Phyllis J. Ekleberry, 70, of 1118 Lincoln Highway, Bucyrus, died 12:48 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2002, at home.

She was born March 18, 1932, in Sycamore to Cassius J. and Mattie L. (Barth) Hill. She married Bobby G. Ekleberry. He survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, William D. Ekleberry of Mineral City and Donald E. Ekleberry of Northwood; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Larry Hill of Bucyrus, Richard Hill of Seymour Ind., Ronald Hill of Underwood, Ind. and Robert Hill of Upper Sandusky; four sisters, Mrs. Ada (Robert) Morton of Neptune City, N.J., Mrs. Sue (William) Clady of Sycamore, Mrs. Amy (John) Conn of Upper Sandusky and Mrs. Carolyn Shook of Bucyrus.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Jerry Hill, and a sister, Vivian Louise Hill.

Mrs. Ekleberry worked in private home health care for families. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Carrothers. Her hobbies included baking, shopping, reading, bingo, spending time with children and listening to Gospel music. She collected Beanie Babies and other types of dolls.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Home Care Matters, Home Health and Hospice at P.O. Box 327 Galion, OH 44833.

Alvin O. Atha

Alvin O. Atha, 66, Fostoria, died 9:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2002, in St. Catherine Care Center, Fostoria.

He was born June 9, 1935, in Bowling Green, to Chester and Inez (Wickard) Atha, and they are deceased. He married Patricia Ann (Overmier) Smith-Atha on Sept. 21, 1988 in Fostoria. She died Jan. 11, 1996.

Survivors include a half-brother, David A. Atha of Huron.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hoening Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fountain cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Kathryn J. Ferguson

Kathryn J. Ferguson, 86, 423 S. Poplar St., Fostoria, died Monday morning, April 15, 2002, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 22, 1915, in Adrian to Lawrence and Julia (Shober) Dible. She married Carl Smiley and he died 1962. She married Richard A. Ferguson on Feb. 13, 1965, and he survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Rick Ferguson of Port Clinton and Douglas Ferguson of Findlay; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Kenneth Dible of Florida and Mervin Dible of Bucyrus.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Hoening Funeral Home. Burial will be at Spring Grove cemetery in Carey.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Doris Jean Bailey

Doris Jean Bailey, 69, formerly of East Cherry St., Clyde, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Arbors of Clyde.

She was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Allock, Ky., to the Rev. C. L. and Effie M. (Kroger) Thompson. She married Kenneth Bailey on July 7, 1951, and he survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Larry Bailey of Clyde and Garry L. Bailey of Kansas; a granddaughter; and two brothers, Kenneth O. Thompson of Clay City, Ky. and Robert L. Thompson of Snow Lake Shore, Miss.

Funeral held at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. Burial will be at McPherson cemetery.

Charles Eugene Hossler

Charles Eugene Hossler, 70, 2193 N. CR 15, Tiffin, died at 4:51 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at his home.

He was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Seneca County, to the late James Guy and Doris (Rathburn) Hossler. On May 12, 1956, in St. Joseph Rectory, Tiffin, he married Marilyn G. Thom. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Dan (Sue) Hossler of Shelby and Tim (Rose) Hossler of Bradenton, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Lanny (Deb) Morrow and Suzette Hossler, both of Tiffin; five brothers, Eldon, Melvin Richard and LeRoy Hossler, all of Tiffin, and Ray and George Hossler, both of Fostoria; two sisters, Shirley Platt of Tiffin and Mrs. Ralph (Beverly) Mitchel of Fostoria; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A brother, James Hossler, and a sister, Lois Shoup, also are deceased.

Mr. Hossler, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Basic Quarter Century Club, worked at the Basic for 30 years as a carpenter, retiring in 1985. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. James K. Say officiating. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, where military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, (419) 447-3113.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Martha J. Shaffer

Martha J. Shaffer, 78, formerly of 953 S. Bon Air Ave., died 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2002, at Wyandot Co. Nursing Home in Upper Sandusky.

She was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Melmore, to the late Alfred and Dora (Barnett) Correll. She married Ralph H. Shaffer on Aug. 8, 1942, and he died Feb. 25, 2002.

Survivors include: a son, Mr. Michael R. Shaffer of rural Sycamore; three daughters, Mrs. Sharon (Raymond) Perry of rural Sycamore, Mrs. Carol (Gerald) Warnecke of New Riegel and Mrs. Rebecca (Sam) Homan of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a brother, Mr. John Correll of Tiffin; and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Dilliner of Tuscon, Ariz. and Mrs. Esther Robinson of Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William Correll.

Mrs. Shaffer was a homemake.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rock Creek cemetery in Seneca County.

Visitation will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3450 W. Central Ave., Suite 230, Toledo, OH 43606 or a charity of the donor's choice.

David D. 'Scrub' Taylor

David D. "Scrub" Taylor, 54, of 7468 E. 1100 N. Kendallville, Ind., died 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn, Ind.

He was born in Whitesburg, Ky.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Carl A. Robinson

Carl A. Robinson, 85, formerly of Shady Acres in Clyde, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Arbors of Clyde.

He was born March 15, 1917, in Clyde, to A. Bruce and Bessie (Gibson) Robinson. He married Eula Morgan (Iles) Robinson on Feb. 8, 1954. He then married Marie (Weaver) Robinson on March 30, 1986, and she died May 2, 1996.

There are no survivors.

Funeral will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Janet J. Allwardt

Janet J. Allwardt, 66, of Mason, formerly of Tiffin, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati.

She was born in Genoa on March 31, 1936, to Myrle and Alice (Bitter) Emch. On Oct. 8, 1955, in Woodville, she married Ted M. Allwardt. He died March 31, 1999.

Survivors include: two sons, Keith W. Allwardt of Woodville and Matt M. (Peggy) Allwardt of Mason; a daughter, Patricia L. (Jim) Little of Grand Rapids, Ind.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Emch of Tenn. and Richard Emch of Woodville; and a sister, Mary Krempin of Westchester, Md.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Allwardt worked for 16 years at Sears in Tiffin and was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Tiffin. She enjoyed knitting sweaters and other items for family and friends.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, in the Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home in Woodville. Burial will be at West Union cemetery, Gibsonburg.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care of Tiffin.

Juanita L. Nimocks

Juanita L .Nimocks, 54, died at 8:06 p.m., April 16, 2002, in the Autumnwood Care Center, where she was a resident.

She was born May 10, 1947, in McCreary County, Ky. to Carl and Fannie (Price) Renfro. Her father survives in Kentucky. On March 22, 1983, in Tiffin, she married Edgar F. Nimocks. He survives at 194 Huss St.

Survivors also include: two sons, Robert M. Perry of Eaton, Ohio and Curtis L. Perry of Columbus; a daughter, Michelle L. Perry of Bloomville; two grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Carl (Donna) Perry of Tiffin, Mrs. August (Jerlene) Wilhelm of Sandusky, Mrs. Richard (Betsy) Nimocks, also of Tiffin and Mrs. Charles (Judy) Snelling of Bettsville. Her mother and a son, Richard Perry are deceased.

A homemaker, Mrs. Nimocks was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. She was a lifetime Tiffin area resident and a 1965 graduate of Thompson High School.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20 in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with Brother Watson Combs officiating. Burial will be in Pleasantview cemetery, Sycamore.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in care of her family.

David D.'Scrub' Taylor

David D. "Scrub" Taylor, 54, of 7468 E. 1100 N., Kendallville, Ind., where he had lived since 1993, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in the Betz Nursing Home, DeKalb County, Auburn, Ind.

He was born July 19, 1947, in Whitesburg, Ky., to the late Tommy W. and Mattie (Thomas) Taylor. On Oct. 3, 1997, in Albion, Ind., he married Carolyn M. Faber, who survives.

Other survivors include: a son, David E. Taylor of Green Springs; a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Cheryl) Hill of Attica; two step sons, Todd L. Rizzo of Dunkirk, N.Y. and Chad J. Rizzo of Fredonia, N.Y.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Charles E. Taylor of Alburn, Ind. and Robert H. Taylor of Wampum, Pa.; and three sisters, Mrs. Darrell (Joella) Sturgill of Carey, Mrs. Don (MaDonna) Whipple of Wolcottville, Ind. and Mrs. Larry (Sharon) Tyree of Tiffin. A sister, Shirley Taylor, is deceased.

Mr. Taylor, a press operator for Tower Automotive, graduated in 1966 from Whitesburg High School. A member of the Freewill Baptist Church, he formerly resided in Wampum, Pa.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, with Brother Jim Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family.
