Steven Thomas Perry

Steven Thomas Perry, 31, of 1529 Campbell St., Sandusky, died Thursday evening, June 13, 2002, at his residence with his family and friends, after a long battle with a cancerous brain tumor.

He was born in Tiffin, Sept. 29, 1970. Surviving are his mother, Susan (Shuman) Perry of Sandusky; his father, William S. Berry of Tiffin; step-father, Roger J. Perry of Sandusky; brother, Jarrett (Autumn) Perry of Strongsville; niece, Abby, nephew, Sean; paternal grandmother, Helen Hollander of Port Clinton, maternal grandmother, Wandalee Shuman of Sandusky; aunts, uncles and cousins. His maternal and paternal grandfathers are deceased.

He was a 1987 graduate of Sandusky High School and had received his associate degree from Westchester Community College in New York. He had worked as a sales representative for Kraft foods.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at the David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. He will lie in-state 10 a.m. until time of the service at 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, at the Columbus Avenue United Methodist Church, 2401 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Ted L. Austin will officiate.

Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery, Tiffin.

Contributions may be made to a local cancer society or a favorite charity.

Lucille P. Willoughby

Lucille P. Willoughby, 88, of Autumnwood Care Center, died Thursday, June 13, 2002, in the Care Center.

She was born March 17, 1914, in Seneca County, to Alphonse and Anna (Miller) Hosang. She married Robert L. Willoughby Aug. 13, 1937, in Reed Assumption Church. He died Sept. 13, 1985.

Survivors include: three sons, Scott Willoughby of Walkerville, Mich., Brett and Brad Willoughby, both of Tiffin; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frederick Hosang of New Washington and Eugene Hosang of Bellevue; and two sisters, Elizabeth Hosang of Norwalk and Mrs. William (Bernadine) Geiger of Norwalk.

Preceding her in death were: her parents; a brother, Arthur Hosang; and a sister, Pauline Rospert.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Church.

Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, in St. Joseph cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lucille Willoughby

Graveside service for Lucille P. Willoughby, 88, of Tiffin, will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph cemetery.

Clyde R. Smythe

Clyde R. Smythe, 81, of West Main Street, Bellevue, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at his home.

He was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Dresden, to the late William and Hallie (King) Smythe. He married Anna (Fortney) Smythe May 10, 1941.

Surviving are: his wife, Anna Smythe of Bellevue; a son, Raymond Smythe of Bellevue; a daughter, Betty Willinger of Monroeville; a sister, Evelyn Hicks of Louisville, Ohio; seven grandchildren; a step grandchild; 10 great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

Mr. Smythe was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Auxter Funeral Home in Bellevue. Burial will be in Attica-Venice cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marilyn M. Tiell

Marilyn M. Tiell, 67, of 616 W. 4th St., Fostoria, died unexpectedly at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, at their summer home in Oak Harbor.

She was born Dec. 16, 1934, in Fostoria to William and Bessie (Mills) Clary. She married John H. Tiell on May 21, 1955, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. He survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: two sons, John Paul Tiell of Calif.; and George William Tiell of Fostoria.; three daughters, Mrs. Veronica (William) Barfield of Findlay, Camille Thompson and Nita Tiell, both of Fostoria; eight grandchildren; and a sister Mrs. Shirley (Melvin) Schreiner of Fostoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Tiell was a 1953 graduate of Fostoria High School. She worked at the L&K Motel, and Candyland Restaurant in Fostoria. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria and the New Riegel American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Unit 354.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. Burial will be in St. Michael's Parish cemetery in Findlay.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoening Funeral Home, (419-435-8200), in Fostoria. New Riegel American Legion Ladies Auxiliary memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Diabetes Foundation, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Catherine I. 'Cat' Doyle

Catherine I. "Cat" Doyle, 80, of Columbus, Ohio, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, at St. Rita's Hospice House, where she had been a resident for one month.

She was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Dorchester, Va., to Albert and Catherine (Stalinski) Blackburn. She married Dudley Doyle on March 10, 1940, in Wise, Va. He died April 1, 1984.

Surviving are: two sons, Larry R. Doyle of Columbus and Gerald W. Doyle of Findlay; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret (Ray) West of Columbus; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elbert Blackburn of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Sterling Blackburn of Florida; three sisters, Cleo Maggard of Detroit, Mich,, Jessie Clark of Michigan City, Ind., and Jeanette Dooley of Big Stone Gap, Va.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Doyle was employed as a nurse's aide at the former Tiffin State Hospital from 1956 to 1978.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home of Tiffin. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care.

Frieda 'Jean' Cleveland

Frieda "Jean" Cleveland, 64, of 2267 CR 34, Green Springs, died 1:20 a.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Elmwood Center.

She was born May 13, 1938, in Burke County, N.C., to the late Leon and Rachel (Hicks) Moody. She married Virgil "Ray" Cleveland Feb. 27, 1957, in El Paso, Texas.

Surviving are: her husband, Virgil Cleveland of Green Springs; three daughters, Vivica Wall of Atlanta, Ga., and twins, Karen Cleveland of Atlanta, Ga., and Kathy Cleveland of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren; two sisters, Jo Delaria of Elk Park, N.C., and Pat Lee of Indianapolis, Ind.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs.

Willie Lemaster

Willie Lemaster, 68, of Maple Street, Fostoria, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria.

He was born Aug. 10, 1933, in Magoffin, Ky., to the late Sammie and Stella (Cantrell) Lemaster.

Surviving are: two sons, Zachery Harless of Marion and Charles Lemaster of Cardington; two stepsons, Gregg and Jeremy Kleinmark of Fostoria; four daughters, Jacqueline and Esther Lemaster of Marion, April Lemaster and Cathy Spicer, both of Cardington; three brothers, Junior Lemaster of Proctorville, Francis Lemaster of Wheelersburg, Ky., Clyde Lemaster of Arlington, Texas; three sisters, Solie Meade of Morral, Jean Tinover of Cincinnati, Virginia Prater of Salyersville, Ky.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. today at the First Freewill Baptist Church on US 23, north of Carey.

Harrold-Florianna Funeral Home in Fostoria is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary E. Moran

Mary E. Moran, 67, of Carey, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Eaglewood Care Center in Carey.

She was born May 23, 1935, in Carey to Jacob "Jake" and Ruth V. (Mundy) Vaughn. She married Richard H. Moran July 18, 1953. He died April 2, 1994.

Survivors include: four sons, Richard Moran of Findlay, Tim Moran of Georgia, Terry Moran of Carey and Gary Moran of Findlay; a daughter, Janet Spencer of Shreve, Ohio; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild; seven sisters, Viola Fletcher of Carey, Shirley Holman of Sycamore, Margaret Jackson of Carey, Gloria Flugga of Findlay, Faye Moyers of Carey, Sue Vaughn of Upper Sandusky and Donna VonDerau of Upper Sandusky.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

There will be no visitation.

Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jean Catherine Gosche

Jean Catherine Gosche, 74, 545 W. Market St., Charles Meadows Apt., Tiffin, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at her home.

She was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Tiffin, to Edward and Evelyn (Huth) Weisenberger, Her mother survives in Tiffin. On June 29, 1946, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married Norbert Joseph Gosche. He preceded her in death Aug. 13, 2001.

Other survivors include children, Mrs. Joseph (Judy) Lonsway of Tiffin and Mr. and Mrs. Timothy (Janet) Opsitnick of Avon; a sister, Mrs. Dale (Ruth) Gerber of Tiffin; seven grandchildren, Laura, Beth, Karen and Anne Lonsway, all of Tiffin, Christine, Mike and Matthew Opsitnick, all of Avon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Joseph and Dr. John Weisenberger; and a son-in-law, Joseph Lonsway.

A 1945 graduate of Calvert High School, Mrs. Gosche worked as a switchboard operator for Mercy Hospital and Tiffin Answering Service and retired from Kerschner Moving and Storage as secretary and office manager. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society, Calvert High School Boosters and the Catholic Knights of Ohio-New Riegel Branch 52.

A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 20, in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank A. Murd officiating. The rosary will be prayed at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. A CK of O service will be at 3:45 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 7:45 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospital Intensive Care Unit or a charity of the donor's choice.

James B. Blaser

James B. Blaser, 73, of 18 Minerva St., Tiffin, died Sunday morning, June 16, 2002, at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo.

He was born Jan. 20, 1929, in Republic to Roy and Lola Mae (Bowerman) Blaser. He married Angela Fortunato on May 8, 1954, in Tiffin. She died on April 18, 1994.

Survivors include: two brothers, Paul and Jon Blaser of Bloomville; two sisters, Mrs. Elbert (Martha) Edeburn and Mrs. Mary Rice of Bloomville; three step-grandchildren, and several step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Diane Fortunato.

Mr. Blaser attended the St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin. He was a 1948 graduate of Bloomville High School, a Korean Conflict Army Veteran, a member of the Caulfield American Legion Post 434, Bloomville, a member of Allen Eiry Senior Center in Tiffin and the United Commercial Travelers.

Mr. Blaser was a 26 year employee of the Tiffin City Schools, working in the Maintenance Department, retiring in 1995.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 South SR 19, Bloomville, with Father Frank Murd officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery in Tiffin. The United Veterans Council will conduct military graveside services.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ronald L. Gerwin

Ronald L. Gerwin, 38, of Grand Rapids, Mich., formerly of Pemberville, Ohio, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids.

He was born on Oct. 12,1963, in Fremont, to Henry and Mary (Garey) Gerwin.

Surviving are: his mother and stepfather, Mary and Paul Shock of Tavares, Fla.; four brothers, Glen Gerwin of Pemberville, Bill and Gary Gerwin of Bowling Green and Corey Gerwin of Columbus; a sister, Suzanne Farquharson of Pemberville.

Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pemberville. Interment will be in Eisenhour cemetery, Pemberville.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Marsh Funeral Home in Pemberville.
