Harry J. Scagnetti

Harry J. Scagnetti, 81, of 220 John St., Bellevue, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Bellevue Hospital.

He was born on Sept. 10, 1920, in Bellevue, to the late Alexander and Albina Tom Scagnetti, of Italy. He married Mary Margaret (Homegardner) Scagnetti on Oct. 25, 1947, at Holy Angels Church in Sandusky.

Surviving are: his wife; a son, Kevin Scagnetti, both of Bellevue; four daughters, Pauline Coleman of Bellevue, Lois Simon of Erie, Pa., Karen Middleswarth, Christine Dietzel and a special family friend Rosie Barl, all of Bellevue; 11 grandchildren; two step granddaughters and a step great-granddaughter.

Mr. Scagnetti was a U.S. Army veteran, enlisting in 1940 and serving for 5 years. His tour of duties included Iceland, France, Germany, Belgium, and other European countries.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in Bellevue Catholic cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted by the Bellevue V.F.W. Post 1238 and American Legion Post 46.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Foos and Son Funeral Home in Bellevue. Rosary Service will be conducted by the Bellevue Knights of Columbus 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Evelene Brown

Evelene Brown, 73, of Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin, died 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at Autumnwood Care Center.

She was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Whitesburg, Ky. to Robert and Angeline (Adams) Brown.

Surviving are: a son, Charles L. Stamper and a daughter, Mildred Ritchie, both of Bloomville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; Six brothers, Vernon Brown of Bellevue, Bill Brown of Mich., Marcus Brown of Fostoria, Don Brown of Tiffin, Robert J. Brown and Doug Brown, both of Mich.; two sisters, Loretta Combs of Tiffin and Pauline Caudill of Taylor, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Brown was a Bloomville resident for 51 years and retired from Tiffin Glass House, after 28 years of service. She was a member of Pillar of Faith Church.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin, with the Rev. Virgil Cole officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Albert F. Shaffer

Albert F. Shaffer, 74, of 6697 W. Twp. 52, New Riegel, formerly of Nevada, Ohio, died at 2:25 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2002, at his residence.

He was born June 27, 1927, in Wyandot County, to the late Howard and Minnie (Agerter) Shaffer. He married Colleen Livingston-Cheney June 14, 1958 in St. Andrew's Chapel in Findlay. She survives in New Riegel.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Ted (Alecia K.) Sharp of New Riegel and Mrs. Robert (Patricia L.) Farringer of Maumee; five grandchildren, Kristi and Lyndsi Bortles, Shawn Farringer and Wesley and Ashley Sharp; four brothers, Eddie Shaffer of Lovell, Bob Shaffer of Nevada, Ohio, John Shaffer of Carey and Harold Shaffer of Marion; and a sister, Eileen Shaffer of Upper Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Dean Cheney; four brothers, Paul, Frank, Glen and Ralph Shaffer; and a sister, Mary Cole.

Mr. Shaffer worked for Glen Shaffer Plumbing and in 1980 became owner and operator of Shaffer Plumbing in Nevada and New Riegel. He formerly worked for the former Callari's Hay and Straw and Claycraft Brickyard, both in Upper Sandusky. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, McCutchenville; the Seneca County Senior Citizens; life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a former member of Ohio Polka Boosters.

The service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Roy Howell officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Ada.

Visitation will 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.

Gerald E. Swankhouse

Gerald E."Jerry" Swankhouse, 71, of 568 S. Warpole St., Upper Sandusky, died at 9:26 a.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.

He was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Uniontown, Pa., to the late Eugene "Bud" and Zetta (Urbach) Swankhouse. On Sept. 17, 1956, he married Lois E. Martin. She died May 9, 1989. He then married Rosalind Rhoden Harer Dec. 30, 1992. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Joseph Swankhouse of Tiffin; a daughter, Diana L. Swankhouse of Upper Sandusky; step-son, S. David Tong of Masco, Idaho; step-daughter, Candace J. Ferrante of Watauga, Texas; 12 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; and two half-brothers, Hal Larson of Boardman and James Larson of Youngstown.

Mr. Swankhouse, a 1949 graduate of Uniontown High School, graduated from Findlay College in 1958 with a bachelor of arts degree. He played football for Findlay College for four years and in 1992 was inducted into the Findlay College Sports Hall of Fame. He earned his master's degree from Bowling Green State University in 1973 and had worked toward his doctorate degree. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he played football for the Air Force and was an amateur Golden Glove Boxer. In 1956, he received a draft card to play with the Baltimore Colts professional football team.

He retired in 1995 after 37 years teaching English, history, health, physical education and Driver's Education. His dedicated coaching career consisted of head track coach 32 years at Upper Sandusky High School, where he coached several state champions, state record holders and a world record holder. He also coached junior high football with a record of 125 wins, 22 loses and four ties and wrestling. He also was assistant high school football coach, coached girls summer softball, coached Wyandot Chiefs Semi Professional Football Tam for several years and established the Upper Sandusky Summer Track Club which he coached as well as participated in the senior division. The Gerald Swankhouse Jr. High Relays was named after him and he also was inducted into the Upper Sandusky High School Sports Hall of Fame in October 1996.

He attended the Church of the Nazarene in Upper Sandusky; was a member of Wyandot County Retired Teachers Association, State Retired Teachers Association, BPOE 83, American Legion Post 225, AmVets 777 and Findlay College and Bowling Green State University Alumni Association.

He will best be remembered for his dedication to the sports programs at Upper Sandusky High School with his coaching and competitive nature and his inspirational, motivational and humorous quotes.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, in the Bringman Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Ben Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky, with military graveside rites conducted by local Veterans Organizations..

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Upper Sandusky High School Sports Complex or the Ram Boosters Track and Field Fund, in care of Bringman Clark and Company Funeral Home, P.O. Box 246, Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.

John 'Jack' McCormack III

John "Jack" McCormack III, 48, of Midvale Ave., Clyde, died Monday, June 17, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 11, 1953, in Fostoria, to the late John and Joyce (Beach) McCormack. He married Georgina (Seppamaki) McCormack. She survives in Clyde.

Other survivors include: a step-son, Christopher Beachler of Green Springs; a step-daughter, Shannon Stact of Pomeroy, Ohio; two brothers, Glen McCormack of Port Ritchey, Fla. and Randy McCormack of Lilburn, Ga.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. Burial will be in McPherson cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with Eagle and Moose Services at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Marcia (Miller) Weipert

Marcia (MIller) Weipert, 85, died, Sunday, June 16, 2002, at the home of her daughter, Judith Wakefield of Templeton, Calif., after a lengthily illness.

She was born Aug. 26, 1916, in Republic, to the late Allen and Minnie (Weiker) Miller. Her husband, Donald Weipert, preceded her in death.

Surviving are: four sons, Allen, Roy, Edward Weipert, all of Calif. and Donn Weipert of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Judith Wakefield and Janet Bettencourt, both of Calif.; a brother, Leonard Miller of Sandusky and 13 grandchildren.

The body was cremated, with a private service following.

Don Miller

Don Miller, 54, of 1701 Arrowhead Dr., Fremont, formerly of Columbus, died 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002, in Fremont.

He was born July 30, 1947, to Virgil and Sylvia (Strausbaugh) Miller. He married Mary (Butner) Miller on May 26, 1995, in Kentucky. She died September of 2001.

Surviving are: a daughter, Sherrie Schlipf of Fremont; two grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Miller and Hank Miller, both of Fremont; a sister, Ruth Ross of Green Springs.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Engle-Young Funeral Home in Green Springs. Burial will be in Green Springs cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Danny L. Dornan

Danny L. Dornan, 61, of 717 Plymouth St., Bucyrus, formerly of Tiffin, died 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at Bucyrus Community Hospital.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tiffin.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, with a Wake Service at 3:45 p.m. at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, Tiffin.

Further arrangements are pending at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Carol M. Meadows

Carol M. Meadows, 70, of Pennsville, N.J., died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Salem County.

She was born in Bettsville, to the late Harold and Daisy (Feasel) Littler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Meadows in 1966.

Surviving are: three sons, Kent Scott Meadows and Bradley Jay Meadows, both of Pennsville, N.J. and Chris Alan Meadows of Bear, Del.; a daughter, Valarie Ann Kleopping of Pennsville, N.J.; a sister, Myrna Quickle of Bettsville and seven grandchildren.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, at the Laughrey Funeral Home, One North Broadway, Pennsville, NJ 08070. Burial will be in Lawnside cemetery, Woodstown, N.J.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Danny L. Dornan

Danny L. Dornan, 61, of 145 E. Southern Ave., Bucyrus, died at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002, in Bucyrus Community Hospital.

He was born Dec. 29, 1940, in Tiffin, to Clayton L. and Dolores (Rumschlag) Dornan. His father passed away Dec. 21, 1978. His mother survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include: a brother, Terry E. (Marilyn) Dornan of Garden City, Mich. and a sister, Joan L. (Thomas) Funkhouser of Toledo. He was an uncle to four nephews and four nieces: Allan Funkhouser, Keith Funkhouser, Matt Dornan, Jesse Dornan, Alicia Distel, Karen Miller, Cheryl Shoo and Andrea Foley; and a great-uncle to five great-nephews and 10 great-nieces. Danny was so proud of all of his nephews and nieces. A brother, Baby Dornan, is deceased.

Mr. Dornan, an assembler at Waycraft Industries, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin. He resided in the Broken Arrow Group Home. Danny always looked forward to his home visits. Going to the Seneca County Fair in the summer was his greatest joy.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 21, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the funeral Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today, June 20, at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio (419) 447-3113. A wake service is at 3:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the School of Opportunity, in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the loving staff at Dan's home and workshop for their kindness and support that was given to Dan, with special recognition to his immediate caregivers: Pat Champion, Howard Champion, Toni Corona, Ruth Cross and Connie McCool, the support service coordinator.

Cleo I. Willson

Cleo I. Willson, 92 of Seminole, Fla., died Monday, June 3, 2002, at Seminole Nursing Pavilion.

She was born in Sycamore to George P. and Mary E. (Badger) Ennis.

Surviving are: a son, Zack of Delaware; a daughter, Jean of Seminole, Fla.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant View cemetery in Sycamore.

Arrangements are being handled by Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore.

Ramon G. Salazar

Ramon G. Salazar, 88, of 2451 CR. 181, Clyde, died 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002, in the Arbors Nursing Home in Clyde.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Engle-Young Funeral Home in Green Springs.

Engle-Young Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Anna Lee Moomaw

Anna Lee Moomaw, 70, of 6410 E. TR 58, Bloomville, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. She was born September 25, 1931 in Mt. Jackson, Virginia, to Jesse M. and Zula L. (Funkhouser) Sager. She married Robert R. Moomaw on June 23, 1950 in Mt. Jackson, Va., and he survives in Bloomville.

Other survivors include: two sons, Randy L. Moomaw of Bloomville, and Steven D. Moomaw of Tiffin; a daughter, Vicki Moomaw of Findlay; a brother, William D. Sager of Harrisonburg, Virginia; a sister, Mrs. Helen Hawkins of Mt. Jackson, Virginia; and three grandchildren, Andrea S., Jessica A., and Lee Jackson Moomaw, all of Bloomville, and many special nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death were: a brother, Samuel Sager; four sisters, Frances Evy, Evelyn Miller, Reva Kuhn and Mable Sager.

She was a member of Baseline St. John's United Church of Christ of Bloomville; former member of Bloom Community Grange and Grange Bowling League.

A farmwife and homemaker, she enjoyed all her animals and watching wildlife, woodworking and playing cards.

Services will be 11:00 am., Saturday, June 22, 2002 at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 South SR 19, Bloomville, with Chaplin John L. Halstead, Chaplin of Mercy Hospital-Tiffin officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in Bloomville.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., tonight, at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the church; Bloomville EMS and/or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mary C. Hotz

Mary C. Hotz, 79, died Wednesday evening June 19, 2002 at Toledo Hospital. She was born December 22, 1922 in Tiffin to Paul and Clara (Keisfing) Maloy. On Oct. 9, 1943 she married George Hotz in St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin, he preceded her in 1979.

Surviving include: three sons: George P. (LeAnn) Hotz of Omaha, Neb, Don P. (Denise) Hotz of Perrysburg, and Dr. James A. (Trish) Hotz of Albany, Ga.; two daughters, Mrs. Jun (Nancy) Bingle and Mrs. Steve (Jane) Fender, both of Toledo; two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Betty) Carns of Tiffin, and Mrs. Dick (Carol) Poland of Willard; and 18 grandchildren.

Mrs. Hotz was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont; Ladies of the Moose; the Elks Emblem Club and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School, a homemaker and worked for the board of elections on voting days, and she was also an avid card player.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St., Fremont.

Visitation hours are from 3:09 p.m., tonight, at the Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch St., Fremont.

Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society and/or St. Joseph Central Catholic High School.

Ramon G. Salazar

Ramon G. Salazar, 88, of 2451 CR 181, Clyde, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at Arbors Nursing Home in Clyde. He was born Aug. 31, 1913 to Cecilio and Maria (Garcia) Salazar. On Sept. 23, 1934 he married Francisca (Rios) Salazar, she died in 2000.

Surviving include: seven sons, Joe Salazar of Laredo, Tx., Frank M., Reynaldo, and Ramon Salazar, Jr., all of Green Springs, Ruben Salazar of Fremont, Rick Salazar of London, and Rogelio Salazar of Clyde; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Lou Wotring of Toledo, and Mrs. Theresa Farster of Clyde; a brother, Cecilio Salazar of Tx.; two sisters, Mercedes Davis of Clyde, and Elena Alafita of Green Springs; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde. Burial at St. Mary's Catholic cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Engle-Young Funeral Home in Green Springs.

Mary A. Bugner

Mary A. Bugner, 91, Columbus Avenue, Fostoria, died at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002 in Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.
