Margaret Olive Pask

Margaret Olive Ensign Pask, 100, formerly of Vine St., Clyde; most recently of Elmwood Nursing Home, Green Springs, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at the nursing home.

She was born Dec. 12, 1901, in Clyde, to Seth Elroy and Pearl (Lemmon) Ensign. On March 31, 1927, she married Lloyd J. Pask. He died in October of 1968.

Surviving are: two granddaughters, Lisa Sachs of Fremont and Terri Perry of Clyde.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Clyde. Burial will be in Ellsworth cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde.

Martha Mae Gaylord

Martha Mae Gaylord, 90, of 4086 Broadway Rd., Willard, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Hillside Acres.

She was born Nov. 23, 1911, in Newark to Robert J. and Sylvia A. (Varner) Brooker. On May 15, 1937, she married Ernest W. Gaylord, in Willard. He is deceased.

Surviving are: nieces; nephews, and a cousin.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Service in Willard. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ross W. Bechtel

Ross W. Bechtel, 75, 914 Decker Ave., Findlay, died 8:08 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Fox Run Manor in Findlay.

He was born April 12, 1927, in Amanda Township, Hancock County, to Frank C. and Laura E. (Copeland) Bechtel. He married Mary Ann (Robinson) Bechtel and they are divorced.

Survivors include: four sons, Michael Bechtel of Hamilton, Larry Bechtel of Indianapolis, Ind., Timothy Bechtel of Westerville and Craig Bechtel of Muskegon, Mich.; three daughters, Diane Bechtel of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Vicky Sperry of North Oaks, Minn. and Wendy Moors of Pawcatuck, Conn.; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Donald W. Bechtel of Fostoria; and two sisters, Rose Bechtel and Nana Stauffer, both of Findlay.

Mr. Bechtel was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery in Fostoria, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.

Visitation will be 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Paul E. Pfeifer

Paul E. Pfeifer, 74, TH 51, Upper Sandusky, died 10:10 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 3, 1927, in Crane Township, Wyandot County, to the late John P. and Elizabeth J. (Margraf) Pfeifer. He married Marguerite J. (Armstrong) Pfeifer on Aug. 29, 1948, in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky. She survives in Upper Sandusky.

Other survivors include: a son, Larry A. Pfeifer of Baton Rouge, La.; two daughters, Debra Duress of Howard and Cathy Hanley of Rocky Mt., N.C.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Gladys Belecz of Akron and Alice Stafford of Concord, N.H.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky. Burial will be in Old Mission cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Fred E. Theller

Fred E. Theller, 88, of 159 Gross St., Tiffin, died 1:30 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 30, 1913, in Tiffin, to the late Oscar G. and Edith M. (Peterson) Theller. He married Donna (Miller) Theller. She preceded him in death. He then married Dorothy Rice (Goetz) Theller. She survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include: two sons, Lawrence O. Theller of Battle Ground, Ind. and James E. Theller of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a sister, Susan Moritz of Casa Grande, Ariz.; a stepson, Dr. David W. Goetz of Morgantown, W.Va.; four stepdaughters, Diana R. Bohl of Erie, Pa., Karen E. Deighton of Delaware, Ohio, Rebecca J. Theller of Battle Ground, Ind., and Heidi K. Martin of Indianapolis, Ind.; and 10 grandchildren.

Mr. Theller lived in Tiffin most of his life and was a graduate of Columbian High School, Tiffin University and Wittenberg College. He retired from Basic Refactories after 40 years of service. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Mr. Theller was a member of the Tiffin Chapter 189 Order of the Eastern Stars past patron/50-year member; Tiffin Lodge 77; Seneca Chapter 42; Clinton Council 47; DeMolay Commandery 9.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. David Culp officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery. United Veterans Council will hold a graveside service.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church. A Masonic Service will be 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.

The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mildred M. Fortney

Mildred M. Fortney, 70, of 7785 N. Twp. Rd. 72A, Tiffin, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2002. She was born April 19, 1932 to Carlton L. and Thelma M. (Holsinger) Heilman. On Nov. 19, 1950 she married Virgil C. Fortney in Old Fort Methodist Church, and he survives.

Other survivors include: her father; two sons, Ronald E. Fortney and Duane "Sam" A. Fortney, both of rural Tiffin; three daughters, Mrs. LaDonna J. Tarris of Fremont, Mrs. Carl (Sharon K.) Dymond of rural Tiffin, and Sandra S. Fortney of rural Tiffin; four brothers, Dale Heilman of Fostoria, Wayne Heilman of rural Tiffin, Carl Heilman of Zephyrhills, Florida, Donnie Heilman of rural Tiffin; and seven grandchildren.

Preceded in death were: a daughter, Barbara Fortney, who died in 1952; a daughter, Linda L. Fortney, who died in 1964; a grandson, Jason Fortney; and a brother, Paul Heilman.

Mrs. Fortney was a graduate, Class of 1950 of Old Fort High School. A homemaker and member of the Old Fort United Methodist Church and Faithful Followers Sunday School Class of the church. Member of the Farm Bureau Council; 4-H advisor for 40 years; Liberty Guys and Gals.

The Rev. Scott Nichols will officiate the 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2002 funeral service at the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs. Burial at Pleasant Union cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 4-8 p.m., tonight, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and/or American Heart Fund (Memorials in care of the Funeral Home).

Janet M. Nichols

Janet M. Nichols, 61, of 3133 E. SR 18, died Friday, July 5, 2002, in the emergency room at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. and noon-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Jamese Lanee' Williamson

Jamese Lanee' Williamson, 4, of Lewis Street, Fostoria, died in a fire on East Tiffin Street, Fostoria, Thursday, July 4, 2002.

She was born Feb. 15, 1998, in Fostoria, to James L. Williamson II and Samara S. Durst.

Survivors include her father of Kent, Wash.; her mother of Fostoria; two sisters, Deneah Durst and Cashara Durst at home; a brother, James Williamson III of Indiana; maternal grandparents, Steve and Cindy Durst of Fostoria; maternal great-grandparents, Richard and Sharon Zink of Fostoria; and paternal grandmother, Cindy Hendricks of Baltimore, Md.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with burial in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Thomas R. VanBibber

Thomas R. VanBibber, 71, of 10454 SR 294, Upper Sandusky, died at 9:24 p.m., Thursday, July 4, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Wellston, to Arthur L. and Nellie (Gray) VanBibber; and they are deceased. He married JoAnn Compton, Oct. 4, 1949, in Greenup, Ky.; and she survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Tom VanBibber Jr. of Washington Court House; three daughters, Diane LaFollette of Springfield, Linda McAlpine of Omaha, Neb., and Janet Smith of Leesburg; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald VanBibber of Orlando, Fla.; and two sisters, Burneda Flannery of Chillicothe, and Hilda Montgomery of Hamden.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, in the Bringman Clark and Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Janet M. Nichols

Janet M. Nichols, 61, of 3133 E. SR 18, Tiffin, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

She was born Feb. 11, 1941, in Seneca County, to the late Robert and Madeline A. (Werling) Kiesel. She married James R. Nichols Dec. 21, 1957, in Tiffin. He survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include: her step mother, Eva Pergram of Johnsonville, S.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Deb (John) Mears of Ashland and Mrs. Donna (Gregg) Borton of Columbus; two sons, Dan Nichols of Tiffin and Doug Nichols of Republic; 14 grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Owens of Johnsonville, S.C.

Mrs. Nichols was an homemaker, a member of St. Jacob United Church of Christ in Republic and St. Jacob Women's Guild and Consistory.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ben Archer officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Tiffin.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. and noon-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Suzette Davies Hahn

Suzette "Sue" Davies Hahn died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Tiffin.

She was born Feb. 15, 1909, in Cleveland, to Francis and Bessie Davies. In 1935, she married Alvin W. Hahn. He died in 1988.

Surviving are: a daughter, Gayle Hahn (Robert) Joyce of Tiffin; a grandson, Sean of Tiffin; a brother, Gail Davies of Mentor; three nephews and a niece.

Mrs. Hahn worked as a head bookkeeper at Davis Paint Co. for several years, a career she left to become a full-time homemaker and mother. She was a long-time resident of Willoughby Township and Eastlake, Ohio, and was active in steps leading to the incorporation of Eastlake as a city. She also served as a local election official in Eastlake for many years. An avid gardener, Mrs. Hahn was a former member of the Painesville and Eastlake granges. She was a former member of the First United Church of Christ in Eastlake.

Monreal Funeral Home in Eastlake is in charge of the arrangements.

George W. Bingle

George W. Bingle, 75, formerly of Risingsun, Fostoria and Sarasota, Fla., died 2:34 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2002, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, where he was a resident.

He was born March 15, 1927, in Risingsun, to Joseph Henry and Miriam Enid (Mitchell) Bingle. He married Margaret (Drobny) Bingle in 1949. They are divorced. He then married Audrey Hoy-Fisk in 1969. She died in 1999.

Survivors include: four sons, John A. Bingle, CW-4 of Fort Hood, Texas, Paul D. Bingle of Columbus, Fred G. Bingle of Fremont and Robert E. Bingle of Bluffton; two daughters, Marilyn M. Schnee of Lancaster, Pa., and Cynthia A. Might of Fostoria; a stepson, Russell Fisk of Bradenton, Fla; two step-daughters, Lynda Mayor-Roach of Snellville, Ga., and Marilyn Fingerle of Mt. Holly, N.C.; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Fred Bingle, both of Risingsun.

Mr. Bingle was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was active in the Army Reserves for more than 30 years, and was an officer in the Civil Air Patrol.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Scott Trinity United Methodist Church in Risingsun, where the United Veterans of Fostoria will conduct military rites at the church. Burial will be in Scott Trinity cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria.

Albert Rex Jr.

Albert Rex Jr., 78, of 144 Third Ave., Tiffin, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at his home.

He was born June 11, 1924, in Tiffin, to Albert and Emma R. (Ross) Rex Sr. On April 20, 1946, he married Juanita (Murray) Rex at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Tiffin. She survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include: a son, Wayne Albert (Sherry) Rex of Naples, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary (Mike) Grieselding of Lauringburg, N.C. and Diane Marie Rex of Tiffin; eight grandchildren, Kelli, Amy, and Keith Rex, Mrs. Dawn Rhodes, Miss Michele Hottensmith, Michael Grieselding, Aaron and Chad Rex; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ann Louise (Ward) Lutz of Attica.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Emma Rex, and a brother, Paul Rex.

Mr. Rex was a very loved husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

He worked as a mechanic for 38 years for Motor Transportation, Mohawk Motor and Central Transport of Tiffin. He was a U.S. Army veteran for 35 months, serving in China, Burma and Indian Theater, receiving the Combat Infantry Medal and the American Defense European Theatre Victory Bars.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jan Kucera officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, where a graveside service will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where a V.F.W. service will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care of Tiffin.

William S. Whitman

William S. Whitman, 37, of 6616 N. CR 15, Green Springs, died at 9:42 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2002, at Fremont Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 9, 1964 in Fremont to LeRoy and Mary Lou (Stull) Whitman.

Surviving are his parents, LeRoy and Mary Whitman of Green Springs; three brothers, Ron L. Whitman of Fort Seneca, Steve B. Whitman of Fremont and Mike L. Whitman of rural Green Springs; a sister, Mrs. Chris Nighswander of rural Green Springs; and a grandmother, Mildred E. Whitman of Green Springs.

Mr. Whitman was a lifetime resident of Pleasant Township. He was a graduate of Old Fort High School, Class of 1982 and worked in production at Horizon Tech. He was baptized at the Old Fort United Methodist Church.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs, with the Pastor James Michaels officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Union cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital and Seneca County Cancer Fund.

Robert E. Esterline

Robert E. Esterline, 78, of 1330 Woodlawn Ave., Bucyrus, died 12:50 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2002, at Hospice Care Center in Akron.

He was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Bucyrus, to Walter E. and Isabelle (Snyder) Esterline. On June 11, 1949, he married Helen L. (Ison) Esterline, who died Oct. 9, 1982.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Lynn Esterline of Bucyrus and Ruth and her husband, the Rev. William Michaels of Stow, Ohio; three granddaughters, Michelle Reynolds, Jennifer Stuckert and Amanda Esterline; two great-grandchildren, Katlyn Reynolds and Kenneth Paul Cook III and a brother, Walter E. Esterline of Bucyrus.

He was preceded in death by his wife, and a son, Kevin Esterline.

Mr. Esterline was a lifelong resident of the community and attended Bucyrus Schools, graduating from Bucyrus High School. He was employed by the Ohio Power Company for over 37 years, retiring in 1984. Mr. Esterline was an Army Veteran, serving from July 1943 to Dec. 1946 with a medical detachment. He was a member of the Bucyrus Masonic Lodge 139.

Funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Michaels officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, where Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 161.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Mysthenia Gravis Foundation.
