Paul K. West

Paul K. West, 75, formerly of 60 N. SR 101, Tiffin, also formerly of Port Clinton, died 8:25 a.m. Sunday, July 14, 2002, at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.

He was born April 28, 1927, in Tiffin, to Donald A. and Bernetta (Kieffer) West. He married Phyllis J. Distel on Dec. 27, 1947, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. She died October 29, 1997.

Survivors include: four children, Kathryn (Gene) Breyman of Tiffin, James A. (Donna) West of Clyde, Paulette (Joseph) Robenalt and Kenneth P. (Teresa) West, both of Tiffin; six grandchildren; a brother Robert West of Bettsville.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, George, and Howard West; a sister, Vivian Frey; a granddaughter, Rebecca Robenalt; three great-grandchildren, William, Grace and Kathrine Zamora.

Mr. West was a 1945 graduate of Columbian High School and a U.S. Navy Seabee during World War II, serving in the Marshall Islands as a shipfitter third class. He received the Victory Ribbon, American Campaign Ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon. Mr. West retired in 1985 after 38 years as a caster at the American Standard Co. in Tiffin. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Frank Murd officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, with graveside military rites by the United Veterans Council

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, (419) 447-3113. Parish wake will be 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited at the church 9:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association of Seneca County or to a the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, in care of the funeral home.

Dorothy Rosemary Webb

Dorothy Rosemary Webb, 89, of 995 S. Bon Air Ave., Tiffin, died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at the home of her granddaughter, Tracy (Holbrook) Hemminger, 8290 W. CR 10, New Riegel.

She was born March 11, 1913, in Bascom, to Joseph and Margaret (Scherger) Elchert. She married Gaylord Webb on Jan. 3, 1936, in Upper Sandusky. He died April 28, 1991.

Survivors include: three sons, Fred Webb of Tiffin, Robert Webb of Clearwater, Fla., and Edward Webb of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Millie Jackson and Mrs. Ruth Ann (Virgil) Holbrook, both of Tiffin; two brothers, Paul Elchert of Arizona and Steve Elchert of Republic; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two children, Mary Catherine Webb and William Kenneth Webb; two brothers, Lawrence and George Elchert and a sister, Geraldine Feasel.

Mrs. Webb was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Ray LaSalle officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

John W. Watts

John W. Watts, 74, of 13065 E. TR 1061, Attica, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Mercy Hospital of Willard.

John was born Dec. 6, 1927, in New Washington to Permanas and Regina (Muster) Watts.

Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Doris (Kellerhals) Watts, whom he married June 6, 1952, in Shelby; two sons, John P. (Grace) Watts of Norwalk and Tom (Judy) Watts of Chatfield; three daughters, Mary Oldham and Mrs. Kathy (Richard) Aukland, both of Attica, Mrs. Trish (Clark) Gayheart of Bloomville; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and Permanas "Perry" Watts and a granddaughter, Jeanette (Gayheart) Postell.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Service, 1295 W. Tiffin St., in Attica, with the Rev. Thomas Kalb officiating. Entombment will follow at Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.Tuesday at the funeral home.

R. Louise Murray

R. Louise Murray, 82, of 513 W. Culbertson St., Fostoria, died 10:15 a.m. Sunday, July 14, 2002, in St. Catherine Care Center, Fostoria.

She was born Nov. 18, 1919, near Kansas, Ohio, to Reed and Mabel (Feasel) Shaull. She married Charles M. Murray on March 7, 1944, in San Diego, Calif. He died in 1974.

Survivors include: a son, Gene Murray of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Graves of Palm Coast, Fla.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Shaull of Tiffin.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha McVicker and a grandson, Christopher Murray.

Mrs. Murray was a corporal in the United States Marine Corps Women Reserves, serving during World War II. She was a retired nurse's aid and an accomplished local artist, having exhibited her paintings, winning awards in juried art competitions. She has created over 250 canvas oil paintings. Mrs. Murray attended the High Street Methodist Church in Fostoria.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m Wednesday at the Hoening Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. Jeffery Waite officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Township cemetery, Seneca County. Graveside honors will be provided by the United Veterans of Fostoria.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be to the Women's Marine Association-Emerald Chapter, c/o the Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, OH 44830.

Kyle Matthew Kroetz

Kyle Matthew Kroetz, 29, of Findlay, formerly of Fostoria, died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in Huron.

He was born July 20, 1972, in Fostoria, to Ed and Sandy (Leisenring) Kroetz. He married Rachel E. Smith on Sept. 9, 1998, in Findlay. She survives in Findlay.

Other survivors include: his parents of Fostoria, a daughter, Holly M. Kroetz of Fostoria; five brothers, Michael E. Kroetz of Tiffin, Jeffrey A. Kroetz of Perrysburg, Patrick N. Kroetz of Amsden, Jonathan R. Kroetz of Fostoria and Phillip C. Kroetz of Amsden; two sisters, Kristine M. Kent and Leslie E. Kroetz, both of Fostoria.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Virginia Mahoney

Virginia Mahoney, 87, of Brandon, Fla., passed away Friday, July 12, 2002.

She was born Aug. 28, 1914, in West Virginia. Virginia retired from Tiffin State Hospital where she was a nursing assistant for many years. She resided in the Tampa Bay area for the past 16 years, coming from Tiffin, Ohio.

She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Bowers and her husband Walter of Brandon, Fla. and Catherine Tiell and husband John of Fremont, Ohio; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The Stowers Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brandon Chapel, Brandon, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.

George L. Etzwiler

George L. Etzwiler, 80, of Chestnut St., Fremont, died Sunday, July 14, 2002, at home.

He was born Oct. 18, 1921 in Gibsonburg to George W. and Cora M. (Eggleston) Etzwiler. He married Dolores T. (Haubert) Etzwiler on Jan. 25, 1947 in Fremont. She survives in Fremont.

Other survivors include: three sons, Vincent G., Michael S. and Christopher L. Etzwiler, all of Fremont; two daughters, Sharon Ohms, Marcia M. Etzwiler, both of Fremont; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Loren Etzwiler; four brothers, William Barnett, James Barnett, Samuel Etzwiler and Ralph Etzwiler; six sisters, Jenny Ailing, Roma Nye, Julia Kadlubowski, Lucille Speaker, Edna Gallatin and Emiline Etzwiler.

Mr. Etzwiler was employed by Whirlpool Corp. as a laborer for 42 years, retiring in 1984. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with company B during WW II and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with 2 bronze stars,; American Defense Service Medal; Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a bronze star; Good Conduct Ribbon; a Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal. He served with the Ohio National Guard and was a former member of the Fremont Police Auxiliary. Mr. Etzwiler was a Life member of the Fremont Post 2947 V.F.W., and a member of the Buckeye State Sheriff Assn. He enjoyed playing his guitar, gardening and loved nature and history.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Millersville, where Military graveside rites will be provided by the American Legion and V.F.W.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home in Fremont.

Memorial may be made to the Sandusky County Home Health, Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the WW II Memorial.

Walter H. Brown Jr.

Walter H. Brown Jr., 50, of Clearwater, Fla. and formerly of Tiffin, died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Mease Dunedin Hospital in Dunedin, Fla.

He was born Oct. 2, 1950, in Columbus, to Walter and Rita Brown Sr.

Surviving are: his wife, Norma Brown of Clearwater, Fla.; his parents, of Ft. White, Fla.; a son, Walter H. Brown III of Holiday, Fla.; two daughters, Jennifer Settiemire of Findlay and Aimee Snoddy of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren; two brothers, David Brown of Tiffin and Fred Brown of Canada; and three sisters, Pat Sullivan of Hudson, Fla., Barb Ferrentino of Ocala, Fla. and Becky Wyatt of Kentucky.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Fla. Burial will be in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Fla.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Wayne M. Brubaker

Wayne M. Brubaker, 76, of Jennifer Dr., Fostoria, died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at his home.

He was born May 9, 1926, in Tiffin, to Oscar and Dora (Bunn) Brubaker. He married Hilda (Karbler) Brubaker on Sept. 24, 1975, in Findlay. She survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: two sons, Arthur Brubaker of Fostoria and Gary Brubaker of Willard; a daughter, Cheryl Laser of Findlay; a stepson, Michael Taggart of Reno, Nev.; a stepdaughter, Ida Downing of Green Springs; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren; a sister, Pauline Harris of Fostoria.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Liberty cemetery, near Kansas, Ohio.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Edwin H. Hall

Edwin H. Hall, 90, of 725 Columbus Ave. and formerly of 202 Rock St., Fostoria, died 2:20 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

He was born April 6, 1912, in Fostoria, to Earl W. and Lena (Baldwin) Hall.

He married Ruth E. (Clevenger) Hall on May 15, 1937. She died on June 4, 1996.

Other survivors include: two sons, John Hall of Ogden, Utah and David Hall of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two brothers, Avery Hall and Myron Hall, both of Fostoria; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens in Arcadia.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Virginia R. Lynch

Virginia R. Lynch, 80, of 115 W. South St., Carey, died 12:31 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2002, at Winebrenner Village in Findlay.

She was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Carey, to Ralph and Golda (Mesnard) Pahl. She married Harold J. "Jim" Lynch on Nov. 3, 1943, in Carey. He died Aug. 19, 2001.

Other survivors include: three sons, Michael J. Lynch of St. Marys, Ohio, Gregory C. Lynch and Daniel M. Lynch, both of Carey; a daughter, Patricia A. Hoffman of Findlay and 14 grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 12 p.m. Thursday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Carey.

Gathering of family and friends will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rita C. Wagner

Rita C. Wagner, 74, of 5212 W. CR 14, New Riegel, had been residing at Fairhaven Health Care Community, died 9:35 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.

Ralph T. Stark

Ralph T. Stark, 87, of 18815 SR 12, Arcadia, also formerly of Fostoria and Ridgecrest, La., died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at his residence.

He was born June 18, 1915, in Carey to Theodore P. and Mary Jane (Feasel) Stark. On March 1, 1941, he married Gertrude M. (Girdham) Stark in Greenville, Ohio. She died on Nov. 3, 1993.

Other survivors include: a son, Leonard R. Stark of Greensboro, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Sally (Gordon) Riser of Fostoria; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother James D. Stark of Risingsun and a sister, Hazel Coppler-Rowles of Fostoria.

He was preceded in death by his wife; four brothers, Cecil Stark, Aloys Stark, Theodore Stark Jr. and Robert Stark; six sisters, Cinderella Fox, Genevieve Johnson-Jordan, Rosemary Kovach, Protase Fox, Gervase Stark and Rita Mae Murnen.

Mr. Stark retired in 1977, after 36 years at Union Carbide, (now National Electric Carbon) in Fostoria. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II, serving in the South Pacific from April 1943 - December 1945. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 430, Loyal Order of the Moose 1567, V.F.W. Post 421, American Legion Post 73, all of Fostoria; and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 43 of Findlay.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. David Bringman officiating. Burial will be in Arcadia cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the United Veterans of Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jean P. Pepper

Jean P. Pepper, 66, of 115 N. Sandusky Street, Tiffin, died 5:50 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

She was born May 20, 1936, in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Earl and Edith (Wendlin) Pipkin.

Survivors include: her husband, Ronald Pepper of Tiffin and a brother, James Pipkin of Birmingham, Ala.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, her twin Jane Pipkin and Nell Davis.

Mrs. Pepper has lived in Tiffin since 1970, She was a graduate of Midwestern University; Texas Tech; and earned her degree from the University of Chattanooga University of Tennessee. Her graduate work was done at the University of Southern Illinois. Mrs. Pepper is a retired teacher, having worked for nine years in Nashville before teaching in the Bellevue and Tiffin Public School systems. She initiated the String Programs at both Bellevue and Tiffin Public Schools. Mrs. Pepper was a member of the First Christian Church; the America String Teachers Association and Suzuki Association of America.

A memorial service will be 11 a,m. Monday, July 22, at the Heidelberg College Herbster Chapel.

Memorials may be made to St. Labre Indian School Education Association in Ashland, MT 59004.

Turner-Engle Funeral Home, Tiffin, is in charge of the arrangements.

M. Lucille Bayer

M. Lucille Bayer, 86, of 8390 W. TR 44, Bloomville, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at the Ruffing Family Care Center, Bloomville.

She was born Aug. 7, 1915, in Bloomville, to Everette E. and E. Matilda (Shock) Shepherd. On May 4, 1937, she married Clarence E. Bayer at the College Hill parsonage in Chatfield. He survives in Bloomville.

Also surviving are: three sons, Gordon E. and Neil E. Bayer, both of Attica, and Wade E. Bayer of Bloomville; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Lou (Edward) Dillinger of Bloomville; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Shepherd.

Mrs. Bayer was a member of Union Pisgah United Methodist Church in Attica and the Women's Missionary of the church.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at the Union Pisgah United Methodist Church, Attica, with the Rev. Joseph Burkhardt officiating. Burial will be in Baseline St. Johns cemetery in Bloomville.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3;085 S. SR 19, Bloomville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Gideons.
