Raul G. Patino

Maria G. Patino

There will be a Memorial Mass for Raul G. and Maria G. Patino at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin.

Raul and Maria were long-time residents and community activists in Lorain. Later, the Patinos moved to Tiffin and continued to be involved in their community and church, St. Mary's.

Raul G. Patino, born April 27, 1920, passed away Oct. 2, 2000, from rheumatoid arthritis and congestive heart complications, was cremated and kept by Maria in her home.

Maria G. Patino, born May 12, 1919, passed away July 15, 2002, from lung cancer complications and also has been cremated.

Both will be buried with Maria's mother in Lorain.

Raul and Maria are survived by their daughter, Leticia G. Patino, and their son-in-law, Jeffrey P. Sosa.

There will be memorial service for Maria at St. Paul Catholic Church in Richardson, Texas, Monday, July 22, and then the family will travel to Tiffin on Thursday, July 25.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to either St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin or St. Anthony's Church in Lorain.

Raul, Maria Patino

The date for the Memorial Mass for Raul G. and Maria G. Patino has been changed to 11 a.m. Aug. 17, 2002, in St. Mary's Church, Tiffin.

John Edward Below

John Edward Below, 80, of 510 McManness Ave., Findlay, died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, in St. Vincent Hospital, Toledo.

He was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Fostoria, to the late Harry E. and Gayetta M. (Bosler) Below. On July 4, 1942, he married Mary K. Davis and she survives in Findlay.

Also surviving are: three sons, Michael John Below of Chicago, Ill., Patrick Edward Below of Sycamore and Timothy Alan Below of Findlay; three daughters, Susan D. Markley of Kenton, Rebecca Lynn Crawford of Findlay and Sherry K. Streicher of Bluffton; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jane E. Kent of California.

Mr. Below served in the U.S. Navy 1942-45.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, with burial in Knollcrest Gardens cemetery, east of Findlay. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.

Visitation is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Johnnie C. Hawk

Johnnie C. Hawk, 80, of West Street, Bascom, died at 7:55 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

He was born June 10, 1922, in Seneca County to August and Roma (Ward) Hawk. He married Jessie "Delores" McCullough on Aug. 29, 1942, in Fostoria; and she died July 18, 1985. He then married Betty J. Hatfield-King on Oct. 9, 1987, in Bascom.

Survivors include: his wife, Betty Hawk of Bascom; three daughters, Mrs. Ross "Janet" Main of Fostoria, Mrs. John "Sandy" Earl of Tiffin, and Mrs. Steve "Pam" Depinet of Fostoria; four stepsons, Michael King of Shreveport, La., and Brian, Jonathan and Donald King, all of Fostoria; two stepdaughters, Debra Weissinger and Rebecca Daiz, both of Fostoria; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 18 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, Charles, Warren and Harry Hawk Sr.; and two sisters, Mabel Nighswander and Minnie Smiley.

He retired in 1987 from San Lan Landfill and was owner and operator of Hawk Tree Trimming Service until 1998. He was a World War II Army veteran, and a member of the Bascom United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2002, in Bascom United Methodist Church in Bascom, with the Rev. Hal Keeton and the Rev. Ivan Schwenn officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2002, in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral home, Fostoria, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.

Memorials may be made to the Bascom United Methodist Church, Bascom.

Bruce Leroy Hunt

Bruce Leroy Hunt, 49, of Green Springs, died at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 1, 1952, in Clyde, to Winfred L. Jr. and Retha Mary (Way) Hunt; and they are deceased. He married Kathy Kay (Robinett) (Luhring) Hunt Aug. 22, 1993, in Tiffin; and she survives.

Other survivors include: Mr. (Aaron) and Charity Hunt of Sylvania, Mr. (Jarrod) and Angela Hunt of Fremont; Ms. Amanda Luhring and Mr. Andrew Luhring of Green Springs; grandchildren, Joshua J. Hunt, Michaela K. Hunt and Madison P. Hunt; and a sister, Nancy C. Hacker of Sylvania.

A sister is also deceased.

He graduated in 1971 from Clyde High School. He was president of Wynn-Reeth, Inc. of Green Springs; also owner and Vice President of Elmwood at the Shawhan in Tiffin and Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont.

He was a member of Christ's Church of Tiffin, Ohio; AOPHA and the EAA; was a "Knight in Shining Armor," and a pilot.

There will be a private family memorial service conducted.

Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at Engle-Young Funeral Home, Green Springs.

Memorials may be given to the Bruce Hunt Foundation which is a non-profit organization supporting the search for cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Clayton C. Beier

Clayton C. Beier, 83, of Smith Road, Fremont, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, in Memorial Hospital, Fremont.

He was born June 15, 1919, in Fremont, to the late Charles M. and Clara P. (Schmitz) Beier. His wife, Ellen E. (Gilday) Beier, whom he married Oct. 6, 1951, in St. Joseph Church, Erie, Mich., survives in Fremont.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Patricia A. Distel of Tiffin and Christine L. Garcia of Fishers, Ind.; a son, Stephen C. Beier of Puyallup, Wash.; a brother, Roman Beier of Green Springs, a sister, Phyllis Slauterbeck of Fremont; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Clarence Beier and a sister, Bernice Meehan.

A self-employed home builder for more than 40 years, Mr. Beier served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1941-45 during World War II in the South Pacific.

He was a 1937 graduate of Old Fort High School, where he was valedictorian of his class; was a founding member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was an usher for over 40 years; and was a life member of the American Legion and VFW. He had many hobbies, which included woodworking, woodcarvings, which earned him numerous awards; oil painting and gardening.

He was a dedicated volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Boy Scouts. He was an active donor to the American Red Cross, donating over 21 1/2 gallons. He also was instrumental in starting the St. Mary's Mission Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, which serves over two million people.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fremont, with the Rev. Mark Herzog officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph cemetery, Fremont, with military graveside services provided by the American Legion and VFW.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, 425 E. State St., Fremont.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the American Red Cross or the donor's choice.

Helen L. Brewer

Helen L. Brewer, 71, of 415 N. Washington St., Tiffin, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

She was born March 8, 1931, in Fredericktown, Ohio, to Homer Little and Nellie Termem; and they are deceased. She married Clayton E. Brewer June 1, 1957, in Columbus and he survives.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Betsy L. Brewer of Tiffin; and a sister, Mrs. Jack (Ruth) Strader of Columbus.

A brother, Harold Little, is deceased.

She was a graduate of Fredericktown High School and The Ohio State University. She was an elementary school teacher and taught at Tiffin, Clyde, Fostoria and Hilliard schools.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2002, in Seneca Memory Gardens Chapel with the Rev. Greg Sellers officiating. Entombment will be in Seneca Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Visitation is one hour before the service at Seneca Memory Gardens Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Seneca County Humane Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Andrew 'Andy' Koke

Andrew "Andy" Koke, 80, of Race Street, Clyde, died Thursday, July 18, 2002, in Memorial Hospital, Fremont.

He was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Fremont to John and Teresa (Klupach) Koke. They are deceased. He married Lurie M. (McClure) Chellis Koke Dec. 22, 1951, and she survives.

Other survivors include: three stepsons, David E. Chellis of Pasadena, Calif., Kieth Chellis of Clyde, and Victor Chellis of Fremont; two daughters and a stepdaughter, Theresa A. Celek of Elmonte, Calif., Aldebaran Frasure of Carey, and Joyce Doster of the state of Oregon; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Anthony Koke of Green Springs; and two sisters, Mary Kovach of Parma, and Elizabeth Jaggers of Attica.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde, with military graveside provided by the Green Springs American Legion and Clyde VFW at McPherson cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, where a Christian Wake service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Hazel Agnes Roland

Hazel Agnes Roland, 96, of Indianapolis and formerly of Tiffin, died Thursday, July 18, 2002.

She married Forrest L. Roland and he is deceased.

Survivors include: a son, John Roland; three daughters, Barbara Strite of Indianapolis, Ind., Janet Griffiths of Westerville, and Shirley Mesnard of Duluth, Ga.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

There will be private services.

The Flanner and Buchanan Mortuary, Indianapolis, is in charge of arrangements.

Richard E. Liskai

Richard E. "Dick " Liskai, 54, of CR 55, Gibsonburg, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.

He was born Oct. 15, 1947, to Alexander and Marian (Tille) Liskai in Gibsonburg. He married Cheryl (Lentz) Lesher Nov. 26, 1976, in Bradner. She survives in Gibsonburg.

Also surviving are: his mother, Marian Liskai of Gibsonburg; a son, Brent Liskai of Fostoria; three daughters, Michelle Bowe of Helena, Tonya Liskai of Fostoria and Jeannette Liskai of Gibsonburg; five grandchildren; and four sisters, Ruth Blair of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Joan Vincent of Gibsonburg, Pat Hendricks of Montpelier and Sandy Haubert of Larkspur, Colo.

After graduating from Gibsonburg High School in 1966, Mr. Liskai worked 13 years for Dana Corp. in Toledo, and after that as a self-employed truck driver until his illness. Mr. Liskai was an avid sprint car driver and raced around the Ohio tracks, for the past 39 years, as the driver of car number 6, .

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Nopper-Veh Funeral Home in Gibsonburg. Burial will be in North Union cemetery, Gibsonburg.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday, also 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Cancer Research and Services, in care of the family.

Lois M. Harrison

Lois M. Harrison, 70, of Brook Park, died Friday, July 19, 2002, at the Cleveland Clinic.

She was born Nov. 28, 1931, in Bettsville, to the late R. Dale and Agnes (Yost) Channels.

Survivors include: four sons, Albert Harrison of Stow, Bradley Harrison, Douglas Harrison and Jeffrey Harrison; a daughter, Mary Rossman, all of Cleveland; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley Hanson and Linda Miller, both of Tiffin.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmstead.

Jean P. Pepper

A memorial service for Jean P. Pepper,66, of 115 N. Sandusky Street, Tiffin, who died June 30, 2002, at Tiffin Mercy Hospital, will be 11 a.m. today at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home in Tiffin, with the Rev. Dr. David Noss officiating.

Harold C. Kramer

Harold C. "Herk" Kramer, 72, of South Main Street, Clyde, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at Bellevue Hospital.

He was born Sept. 30, 1929, in Sandusky County to the late Robert E. and Lucille (Kiser) Kramer. On March 14, 1990, he married Jean Burdett-Willer Kramer. She survives in Clyde.

Also surviving are: four sons, Harold Judsen Kramer of SanAmica, Calif., Ernest, John and James Kramer, all of Clyde; a daughter, Stacy Ruffing of Clyde; two step sons, Gary Willer of Chester, Va. and Randy Willer of Green Springs; a step daughter, Mrs. LouAnn Burroughs of Green Springs; two sisters, Norma Zierof of Wyoming and Lucille Haufel of Sandusky.

Mr. Kramer was a Korean conflict United States Army veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, where Military graveside rites will be provided by the Clyde VFW and Fremont American Legion. There will be a funeral dinner following the burial at the Clyde VFW on Maple St.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home with FOP services at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

William Arthur Plummer Sr

William Arthur Plummer Sr, 83, of 25 Christopher Drive, formerly of 1521 N. Countyline Street, Fostoria, died 9:12 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2002, St. Catherine's Care Center.

He was born May 1, 1919, in Lima to the late Walter and Wand K. (Long) Plummer. On March 20, 1940 he married Gloria V. (Meeks) Plummer in Ottawa, Ohio. She survives in Fostoria.

Also surviving are: a son, William A Plummer Jr of Bradner; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Plummer was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens in Arcadia.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

H. H. Chumley

H. H. "Huse" Chumley, 76, of Monroe Street, Bettsville, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born May 2, 1926, in Clairborn County, Tennessee, to William Wheeler and Ethel Mae (Goins) Chumley. On Dec. 14, 1973, he married Joyce B. (Cooper) Chumley. She survives in Bettsville.

Also surviving are: three sons, Jerry Chumley of Ashland, Dexter Chumley of Hartville, Ohio and Nathan Chumley of Vickery; a daughter, Jenelle Craig of Clyde; two step sons, William Byrd of Grand Bay, Alaska and Randall Byrd of Gautier, Miss.; two step daughters, Christine Rumfola of Bettsville and Theresa Shupp of Port Clinton; a brother, Frank Chumley of Cumberland Gap, Tenn. and a sister katherine Rose of Cumberland Gap, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.

Mr. Chumley was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. Burial will be in the veteran's section at McPherson cemetery, with Military graveside rites provided by the Clyde American Legion and the Clyde V.F.W.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Frank H. Frederick

Frank H. Frederick, 86, of Fort Meyers, Fla., formerly of Carey, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002. He was born Oct. 14, 1915, in Carey to Frank H. and Leora Belle (Lortz) Frederick.

Survivors include: his wife, Phyllis (Hunter) Frederick of Florida, a daughter, Fran Frederick of Florida; three brothers, Bob Frederick of Carey, Richard Frederick of Bucyrus and Judson Frederick of Toledo.

Mr. Frederick served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Full Military Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Spring Grove cemetery in Carey.
