Katelynn Ruth Carson

Katelynn Ruth Carson, 8 months, 12 days, of 119 Fourth Ave., Tiffin, died at 6:55 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at the University of Michigan Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor.

She was born Dec. 18, 2001, in Tiffin to Bryan Keith Carson and Terry Lynn Ferguson. They survive in Tiffin.

Other survivors include: two half sisters, Samantha Carson and Vanessa Carson of Clovis, N.M.; paternal grandparents, Roe and Judy Dorsey of Attica; maternal grandparents, Hazel Ruth Ferguson and Karl Guilkey of Tiffin; maternal great-grandmother, Frances Ellis of Arlington, Ky.; paternal great-grandparents, Harold and Gertrude Norris of Lagrange; paternal great-grandmother Kathleen Dorsey of Shelby; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Bryan Ferguson, and paternal great-grandfather, Everson Dorsey Sr.

Miss Carson was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Stephen Schroeder officiating. The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, OH (419) 447-3113. A Parish Wake will be 7:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Children's Organ Transplant Association for Katelynn Carson, or the family in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Rose Mary Scheiber

Rose Mary Scheiber, 79, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at OSU Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul J. Scheiber.

Survivors include: three sons, Daniel of Marietta, Ga., Paul Jr. and Joseph of Columbus; five daughters, Shella Rees of Port St. Lucy, Fla., Janet Scott of Grove City, Mary Plute of Granville, Terri Burud of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Sara Scarborough of Phoenix, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Meiring of Perrysburg.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Resurrection cemetery Chapel, Lewis Center.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday and 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Maeder-Quint-Tiberi Funeral Home, 1068 S. High St., Columbus.

James Robert Farley

James Robert "Bob" Farley, 66, of 126 E. Brown Ave., Carey, died at 10:35 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Chicago, to James and Lorraine (McDermott) Farley; and they are deceased. He married Jessie F. Davidson Nov. 9, 1963, and she survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Theresa Morgan of Groton, Conn., and Rita Leatherwood of Carey; and six grandchildren.

Christian Mass of Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Salem Twp.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Monday in the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:30 p.m. followed by a K of C service.

Dorothy Mae Brandenburg-Whited

Dorothy Mae Brandenburg-Whited, 79, a resident of Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Fostoria, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at the nursing home.

She was born Feb. 17, 1923, in San Angelo, Texas to Ralph and Ethel (Albritton) Youngblood. She married M. Ray Brandenburg, Sept. 25, 1945, in Mansfield. He died Jan. 20, 1976. She then married Paul Whited on Aug. 15, 1981, in Mansfield. He died Oct. 21, 1983.

Surviving are: a son, David R. Brandenburg of Columbus; two daughters, Brenda G. Brandenburg of Nashville, Tenn. and Mrs. Carol S. (Herb) Johnson of Fostoria; four brothers, Ralph Youngblood of Nederland, Texas, James Youngblood of Montgomery, Texas, William Youngblood of Stillwater, Okla. and Ellis Youngblood of Columbia, Tenn.; two grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and a sister, Maridel Dudley.

Mrs. Brandenburg-Whited retired in 1983 as kitchen manager and cook for the Lexington local school district in Lexington, Ohio. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Fostoria. Mrs. Brandenburg-Whited was a 1940 graduate of South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas and was recipient of the "Distinguished Service Award" from the First Church of the Nazarene. She was a former church board member, missionary president, Ladies Bible Study member, Sunday School teacher and prime time coordinator.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Fostoria with the Rev. Russell Gumm officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. at Oak Grove cemetery in Lexington, with the Rev. John Sgro officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery, Lexington.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene of Fostoria.

Earl D. Reinhart

Earl D. Reinhart, 62, of Berlin Center and formerly of Seneca County, died 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 8, 1940, in Seneca County to Alvin and Rose Ann (Tiell) Reinhart. He married Agnes Sours and they divorced.

Surviving are: two sons, Aaron Reinhart of Beach Island, S.C. and Duane Reinhart of Jackson, S.C.; two daughters, Paula Reinhart of Aiken, S.C, and Diane Reinhart of Gibsonburg; seven grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; six brothers, Harold Reinhart of Alvada, Francis Reinhart of Tiffin, Maurice Reinhart of Carey, Alvin Reinhart Jr. of Kansas, Ohio, Silverius Reinhart of New Riegel and Ralph Reinhart of Fostoria; and three sisters, Mrs. Joan (John) Meyer of Findlay, Mildred Biller of Bloomville and Mrs. Helen (Henry) Reineck of Gibsonburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Denise Reinhart.

Mr. Reinhart was a construction worker and retired from Baycon Construction in Sandusky. He served in the U.S. Army.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Frenchtown, with the Rev. Conrad Sutter OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will be in St. Nicholas parish cemetery, Frenchtown, with military graveside rites conducted by the New Riegel American Legion.

Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. today at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. There will be a Christian wake at 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.

Maxine I. Lautsch

Maxine I. Lautsch, 76, of Perry Street, Fostoria, died 8:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at her home.

She was born June 1, 1926, in Clarksburg, W.Va., to Arlis and Ellive (Sprouse) Smith. On Oct. 12, 1942, she married Ernest J. Lautsch in Boston, Mass. They divorced.

Surviving are: a son, Ronald Lautsch of Reno, Nev.; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret (Mike) Gillig of Fostoria; two brothers, Tom Smith of Fostoria and Paul Smith of Chula Vista, Calif.; a sister, Marlene Foster of Mansfield; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rick Lautsch; and a sister, Marjorie Turner.

Mrs. Lautsch was a homemaker and member of New Covenant/Oak Tree Christian Church of Fostoria.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, with the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Russell L. Terry

Russell L. Terry, 68, of 60 N. S.R. 101, Lot 44, entered into eternal life with Jesus on Sunday morning, Sept. 1, 2002.

He was born in Liberty Township, Seneca County, June 21, 1934, to Roy and A. May (Shiley) Terry. He married his beloved wife of 43 years, Janice Kay Perrine, in Tiffin, April 4, 1959. He is the father of Mrs. Christopher (Lisa Ann) Elchert of Tiffin and Amy Jo Terry of Delaware.

He was the loving grandfather of Jason, Joshua, Jacob, and Michelle Elchert and a good brother-in-law to Audrey Perrine of Tiffin.

Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Harold W. Terry of Quincy, Ill., Gilbert W. Terry of Garden City, Mich., Robert P. Terry of St. Louis, Mo., Forrest F. Terry of Columbus and Mrs. Lois W. (Eldon) Cooper of Springfield. He is also survived by a half-sister, Gladys Keyes of West Newton, Pa., and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gayle E. Terry; and sisters, Evelyn Mae (Terry) Turpin and Vivian M. Terry.

Mr. Terry graduated from Bettsville High School, class of 1952, where he actively participated in playing baseball and basketball. He also attended Adrian College and Findlay College. He retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Co., Findlay.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was the first of his family to visit a foreign country. While stationed in Germany, he enjoyed being able to tour several European countries while on leave.

Funeral will be at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, Tiffin, at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The Rev. Scott Robles of Victory Christian Fellowship, Fremont, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery, Tiffin.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. The United Veterans Council will conduct a military graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to a mission fund, Victorious Christian Life Ministries, Nigeria, Africa. Donations may be in care of his wife, Janice Terry.

The Rev. William O. Homeister

The Rev. William O. Homeister, 81, 192 St. Francis Ave. Villa 17, Tiffin, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

He was born June 20, 1921, in Wyandotte, Mich., to the late William J. and Edna E. (Bock) Homeister. On June 26, 1947, in Eden Seminary, St. Louis, Mo., he married Marilyn J. Held, who survives.

Other survivors include: a son, William R. (Ellen) Homeister of Pleasant City, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Rebecca L.) Grammer of Tiffin; two grandchildren, Paul O. Grammer IV and Ryan W. Grammer; three brothers, Orville Homeister of Riverview, Mich., Owen (June) Homeister of Grand Marais, Mich. and Eugene (Joan) Homeister of Empire, Mich.; and three brothers-in-law, Robert Held, Donald and Bettie Held, all of Morrison, Mo. and L. James and Betty Held of Hermann, Mo.;

The Rev. Homeister was a retired minister, having served as minister for Strasburg St. John UCC, Strasburg, Ohio; Trinity UCC, Elliston, Ohio, Trinity UCC in Jasper, Ind., St. Peter UCC in Addieville, Ill. and as interim pastor at Congregational UCC in Dearborn, Mich.

A 1939 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School, Wyandotte, Mich., he graduated from Elmhurst College in Illinois and the Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in Trinity United Church of Christ, Tiffin, with the Rev. Laurie Hill and other clergy friends officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in Michigan Memorial Park, Flat Rock, Mich., with Dr. Norman Kirsch officiating.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of the service Saturday at the church. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to: Eden Seminary, Our Christian World Mission, in care of Trinity United Church of Christ or the Ohio Kidney Foundation.

Paul Richard Schafer

Paul Richard Schafer, 85, of St. Francis Avenue, formerly of 46 Grace St., Tiffin, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, in St. Francis Home.

He was born May 16, 1917, in Tiffin, to the late Otto John and Bertha Clara (Frederick) Schafer. He never married .

He is survived by his sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Helen) Miller of Fostoria, Mrs. Charles (Margaret) King Sr. of Attica, Mrs. Robert (Agnes Elizabeth "Betty") Mohler of Moab, Utah, Mrs. Owen (Drusilla) Shutt and Mrs. Clarence (Iris) Arter, both of Tiffin; and sister-in-law, Mildred Slife of Navarre, Ohio.

A brother, William Carl Schafer and a sister, Mary Katherine Erchenbrecher are deceased.

Mr. Schafer was a 1935 graduate of Columbian High School. In 1936 he entered the Civilian Conservation Corps at Ft. Knox and was shipped to Superior, Mont. In 1942, he entered the army serving in the South Pacific. In 1950, Paul graduated from Heidelberg College with a BA and in 1952 received his MA in history and teaching from Ohio State. He was a manager of S.S.Kressges and retired in 1980 after 28 years as a purchasing agent for General Electric. He was one of the founders of the Seneca County Coin Club and walked five and one half miles daily until his late 70's. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Msgr Edward Dunn as celebrant. The rosary will be prayed at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 6 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, for Masses or a charity of the donor's choice.

Avanelle V. Huff

Avanelle V. Huff, 61, of Alger, Ohio, died at 7:39 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002 in her home. She was born May 22, 1941 to Bailey and Bessie (Moore) Fierabend, both preceded her in death.

Surviving include: two sons, Charles E. Huff, and William E. Huff, both of Alger; a daughter, Mrs. Jackie Lynn Deters of Ottawa; two sisters, Mrs. Dixie Jean Hunt of Alger, and Mrs. Carol Ann Hipsher of McCutchenville; and three grandchildren.

Services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger. Burial at Norman cemetery in Kenton.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., tonight, at the funeral home and until time of service on Saturday.

Ida Elizabeth Carter Porter

Ida Elizabeth Carter Porter, 90, a resident of Good Shepherd Nursing Home and formerly of West Fremont Street, Fostoria, died at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, in Fostoria Community Hospital.

She was born Jan. 26, 1912, in Risingsun to James L. and Lena B. (Rees) Carter. She married William T. Porter June 12, 1934, in Erie, Pa.; and he died Nov. 7, 1957.

Survivors include: two sons, John W. and William B. of Washington D.C.; three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Shiblaq of Columbus, Christina Llewellyn of Silver Spring, Md., and Sara Jane Reinhart of Berwick; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dr. James Carter of Fostoria.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, in the Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria, with burial in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation will also be Monday 10-11 a.m. at the church.

The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Marilyn M. Trick

Marilyn M. Trick, 73, of Port Clinton Road, Fremont, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, in St. Francis Health Care Centre, Green Springs.

She was born Oct. 13, 1928, to Cletis and Lillian (Lehman) Kemp in Toledo; and they are deceased. She married Carl F. Trick at Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont and they have been separated since 1992.

Survivors include: two sons, Roger of Walla Walla, Wash., and Allen of Chambersburg, Pa.; two daughters, Trudy Balzanna of Cockeysville, Md., and Penny Moore of Newington; three grandchildren; and a brother, Jack Kemp of Tiffin.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Nopper-Karlovetz Mortuary in Fremont with burial in Four Mile House cemetery, Fremont.

Visitation will be 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Janet Ernestine Collins

Janet Ernestine (Finkel) Collins, was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Lorain County, Ohio, to Edward Raymond and Hazel (Allen) Finkel. She married Richard Edwin Collins in Lorain on Aug. 20, 1949.

She graduated from Lorain High School in 1945 and Ohio Northern University with a bachelor of science degree in education in 1949. She had graduate studies at Indiana University and Bowling Green State University. She retired from teaching in Tiffin Public Schools in 1986.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1950 and was a past elder and member of the Women's Association. She is past president of the Junior League of Women, past matron of the Tiffin Order of Eastern Star 189; past president of Tiffin Education Association; past president of the American Association of University Women; assistant secretary and life member of Seneca County Retired Teachers Association. She is a life member of the Ohio Education Association, Ohio Retired Teachers Association and National Education Association.

She is survived by her husband; a brother, Warren Finkel of Sheffield Lake; two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Becky) Bernard of Tiffin and Debra Collins-Moore of Columbus; four grandchildren, Seth Allen Chaffee, Keith Collins Bernard, Jonathan Richard Moore and Leigh Janette Moore. One daughter, Kathi Sue Collins, is deceased.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Children's Hospitals, First Presbyterian Church or the Ritz Theatre.

There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Barnes Memorial Chapel at Greenlawn cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Mahlmann officiating.

There will be no visitation.

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
