Debra Malchano

Debra Malchano, 50, of Lewis Center, Ohio, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002.

Loving wife of Bill; devoted mother to Kimberly (David) Underwood of Dublin; loving parents, Jerry and Sue Kessler of Tiffin; devoted sisters, Bridget (Christopher) Turk of Alexandria, Ohio, and Jodi Kessler (fiance, Jeff Becker) of Cincinnati; also survived by maternal grandmother, Pearl Rowe of Upper Sandusky; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville, 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, where a Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday.

There will be a private family interment.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Red Cross for victims of 9/11.

Leslie Jr., Terry

Leslie Jr. Terry, 77, of 1586 W. CR 38, Tiffin, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born June 27, 1925, in Prattville, Mich. to the late Harvey and Hazel (Krupp) Terry. On April 16, 1949, he married Marjorie A. (Burrier) Terry in Newport, Ky. She survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include: his stepmother, Mary Terry of Tiffin; a daughter, Linda Sue Nitecki of Tiffin; two sons, Dale A. Terry of Tiffin and Douglas R. Runion of Sommerville, S.C.; six brothers, Clayton and Carl Terry, both of Tiffin, James Terry of Lexington, Tenn., Maurice Terry of Aiken, S.C., Boyd and Jerry Terry, both of Tiffin; four sisters, Mrs. Thelma (James) Cameron of Tiffin, Mrs. Arloween (Charles) Mizen of Bascom, Mrs. Mary Ann (Louis) McGowen and Opal Gooding, both of Tiffin; four grandsons; a granddaughter, three step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded by a daughter, Lesley Ann Terry; two brothers, Vernon and Gordon Terry and two grandsons.

Mr. Terry was foreman at Basic Refractories for 37 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 169; and Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, NASCAR racing and was an avid bowler. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Halstead officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery. Military Graveside Service will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ruth L. Snyder

Ruth L. Snyder, 70, of Stinchcomb Drive, Fostoria, died at 10:13 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.

She was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Portage, to John and Alverta (Reis) Yates. On July 4, 1948, she married Charles J. Snyder in Fostoria. He died Oct. 13, 1982.

Surviving are: her mother, Alverta Yates of Fostoria; two sons, Donald "Ed" Snyder of Sidney and Mark C. Snyder of Naples, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Owens-Wilson of Burkesville, Ky.; a half brother, Donald Vannest of Bellevue; two sisters, Betty Burlile and Doris M. Kuntz of Fostoria; a half sister, Sue Ellen Wimmer of Over Peak, Ohio; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

E. Odessa Duckworth

E. Odessa Duckworth, 104, formerly of Lytle Street, resident of St. Catherine's Care Center, died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria.

She was born March 18, 1898, in Clinton, Mo., to Joseph and Sarah (Counselman) Duckworth.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fountain cemetery in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery.

Rolf Larsen Slettene

Rolf Larsen Slettene, 70, of Richland, Wash., died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at his home.

He was born June 4, 1932, in Chicago, Ill. and lived in the tri-Cities for one year. Rolf's parents were longtime residents of Tiffin, and Rolf lived there until his second year of college.

Rolf is survived by his wife, Loretta Slettene; two sons, Brad Slettene of West Richland, Wash. and Randall Slettene of Piscataway, N.J.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ragnvald and Ingeborg Slettene.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University. He was a geophysicist for the United States geological Survey and for private industry.

He was a member of the Church of Christ and was past Wyoming State president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Memorial services will be 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the family home, 264 Thyme Circle, Richland, WA 99352.

Memorial contributions maybe made in Rolf's memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 277, Richland, WA 99352.

Einan's Funeral Home in Richland, Washington is in charge of the arrangements.

Edward F. 'Eddie' Beisner

Edward F. "Eddie" Beisner, 95, of Tiffin, died at 8:45 a.m Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002.

He was born Dec. 23, 1906, in Mannington, W.Va., to Henry and Matilda (Theiss) Beisner. He married Dorothy C. Black on Sept. 17, 1931, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Dorothy preceded him in death Oct. 16, 1991.

Surviving are his loving family: a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" and Leslie Beisner of Lafayette, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Dave Distel of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Jim and Scott Beisner and Howie and Stacie Distel, and three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jamie and Sabrina Beisner.

His parents, two brothers, Henry and Howard Beisner I, four sisters, Margaret Brighton, Marie Shepherd, Tillie Mae Shepherd and Kathleen Rex, preceded him in death

The family moved to Tiffin in 1915, and Mr. Beisner graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1925. He was a paymaster for the U.S. Glass Co. in Tiffin until 1938, then a United States Postal worker, where he retired in 1973.

He was a member of Old Trinity Episcopal Church, Allen Eiry Senior Center, NARFE and UCT. He was an avid golfer and pinochle and card player and enjoyed his family and friends.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at Old Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Trumble officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-10 a.m. at the church.

Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Old Trinity Episcopal Church, Autumnwood Auxiliary and the Allen Eiry Senior Center.

Cecil M. Herman

Cecil M. Herman, 98, of Edgerton, died 3:55 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, in St. Francis Home, Tiffin, where she resided for the last three years.

She was born March 31, 1904, in Hamler to William and Margaret (Collins) Long. She married Leonard X. Herman on Feb. 15, 1928, in Hamler. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1979.

Surviving are: two sons, Paul Herman of Edgerton and John Herman of Perry, New York; four daughters, Sister Marie Herman and Sister Marcella Herman, both of Toledo, Alice Moriarty of Napoleon and Sister Carol Herman of Mokena, Ill.; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edgerton. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Edgerton.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Krill Funeral Service in Edgerton. Recitation of the Rosary will be 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Betty Lou Chaffee

Betty Lou Chaffee, 73, 686 S. Sandusky St., Tiffin, died at 3:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at her residence.

She was born July 17, 1929, in Tiffin, to the late Wilbur and Nina (Wise) Feasel. On March 1, 1947, she married Carl Schindler and they divorced. On May 17, 1969, she married Ronald Chaffee, and they divorced.

Other survivors include: two sons, Tony (Mary) Schindler of Tiffin and Ron "Jake" (Tammy) Chaffee of Fostoria; three daughters, Becky (Ruben) Garcia, Nancy (Steven) Williams and Jill (Ben) Lindhorst, all of Tiffin, 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Feasel of Tiffin; and four sisters, Dorothy (Kirby) Tyree, Anna Mae Bagent and Nina Louise Baker, all of Tiffin, and Lillian (Ray) Scott of Lakeland, Fla.

Preceding her in death were a son, Chuck Schindler; a great-grandchild; four brothers, Billy, Carl, Merrit and Jim Feasel; and two sisters, Thelma Hippler and Florence Keller.

Mrs. Chaffee had worked at Tiffin Glass as a bowl straightener and was co-manager at the Seneca County Children's Center for five years. She also was very proud to have raised six children. She was a member of the United Methodist Women in Bloomville.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, with Pastor Scott Blevins officiating. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Seneca Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio (419) 447-3113.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Lettie F. Zimmerman

Lettie Frances Zimmerman, 72, formerly of 104 W. Walnut St., Attica, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin after suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.

Mrs. Zimmerman was born in Perkins Township, Erie County on Feb. 19, 1930, a daughter of the late Martin Luther Gore and Ruth Viola Purcell Gore.

A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family, home, and garden.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roger Zimmerman; and her daughters, Brenda (David) Agard of Wadsworth and Julie (Junior) Parsons of Bellevue. She also is survived by six grandchildren; one grandchild; her brother, Ralph Gore of Republic; and two sisters, Martha Reitz of Republic and Elsie Beattie of Clyde.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Home, Attica.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, with Pastor Henry Seibert officiating. Burial will follow at Attica-Venice cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, 919 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1000, Chicago, IL 60611.

Jackie A. Stallings

Jackie A. Stallings, 71, of 409 N. Main St., Attica, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, in Briarfield Care Center in Milan after a struggle with cancer.

Mr. Stallings was born in Evansville, Ind. on Aug. 26, 1931, a son of the late Lawrence R. and Orpha Evans Stallings.

A 1949 graduate of Attica High School, he was a Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a carpenter and lumberman, having worked at the Bernard Lumber Company in Attica and more recently at the Wolohan Lumber Company in Tiffin. An avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan, he enjoyed his home and woodworking craftsmanship. He also enjoyed singing and sang with the Attica Methodist Church Choir.

He is survived by his sons, Greg (Gerry) Stallings of Huron, Steve (Ann) Stallings of Galion, Tom (JoLynn) Stallings of Huron; his daughters, Lelia (David) Garcia of Bloomville and Vicki King of Attica. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, a great-grandchild; his brothers, Bill (Barb) Stallings of Tiffin and Jerry Stallings of Findlay; his sisters, Betty (Rocky) Stone of Clearwater, Fla., Dorothy Eby of Largo, Fla. and Beverly (Ed) Baker of Lancaster, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, brother, and grandson.

The visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Lindsey-Foos-Kocher Funeral Home in Attica.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Attica Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Thom Kalb. Burial, with full military honors by the Attica American Legion Post 420, will follow at Attica-Venice cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Jackie Stallings Memorial Fund, c/o Sutton Bank, 1 S. Main St., Attica, OH 44807.

Faye M. Worley-Davis

Faye M. Worley-Davis, 94, of Independence House, Fostoria, formerly of Stinchcomb Drive and W. CR 28, both of Fostoria, died 7:16 p.m. Sept. 17, 2002, at the Independence House.

She was born May 11, 1908, in Spencer, W.Va., to Noah B. and Virgie (Harper) Kiser. She first married Harold W. Worley, Oct. 16, 1928, in New London. He died Nov. 22, 1968. She then married Charles Davis, and they are divorced.

Surviving are: a daughter, Norma Worley of Fostoria; two granddaughters, Aimee Zimmerman of Cleveland and Emily Zimmerman of Columbus.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date.

There will be no visitation.

The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of the arrangements.

Wayne C. Reddin

Wayne C. Reddin, 76, of Van Buren Street, Fostoria, died 6:45 p.m. at The Goerlich Center in Sylvania.

He was born Dec. 13, 1925, in Henry County to the late John and Irene (Herr) Reddin. On April 9, 1949, he married Marilyn Stearns in Bloomdale. She survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Sue Anne Hoy of Fostoria, Patricia Lynn Burkart of Toledo and Nancy Jean Stanley of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Grace Schneider and Virginia Stearns, both of Toledo, Mildred Klotz of Risingsun and six grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted by the Joint Veterans Group of Fostoria.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lulu Faye Ketner

Lulu Faye Ketner, 78, of St. Catherine's Care Center in Fostoria, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at St. Catherine's.

She was born Aug. 8, 1924, in Gallia County, to Charles and Bessie Rose (Bomer) Moore. On March 29, 1964, she married Alvin Ketner, Jr. in Hancock County. He died May 1990.

Surviving are: a stepson, Jerry Ketner of Albuquerque, N.Mex.; three brothers, James Saxtox of Wayne, Elbert Bomer of Risingsun and Robert Bomer of Bradner; a sister, Gertrude Kreais of Wayne and four grandchildren.

Service will be 1:30 p.m. at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Harmon cemetery near Gilboa.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

David Earl Hill Sr.

David Earl Hill Sr., 71, of Donna, Texas, passed away Sept. 10, 2002, in Knapp Medical Center, Weslaco, Texas.

He was born in Fostoria Feb. 6, 1931, He married Clara Baker on June 30, 1951, and owned the Yellow Cab Taxi Service in Fostoria.

Surviving Mr. Hill is his loving wife of 51 years, Clara, of Donna; sons, David E. Hill Jr. and wife Ninfa of Weslaco and Dennis Lee Hill and wife, Kendall of Donna; daughters, Sherry Ann Walker and husband, Curtis of Sweetwater and Suzette Moncus and husband, Keene of Weslaco; grandchildren, Melissa Martin, Amy Moncus, Vanessa Ann Hill, Michelle Clare Hill and Lauren Elizabeth Walker; sisters, Virginia Sussang and husband, Gene of Weslaco and Barbara Ann Klopp of Winterhaven, Fla.; and a brother, Robert R. Hill of Weslaco. Also surviving him are numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict reaching the rank of sergeant. In 1961, he moved from Ohio to Donna and later worked at Knapp Motor and Sherry-Barbee Implement Co. in Weslaco and owned and operated the Humble Gas Station at the corner of Missouri and Business 83 in Weslaco. He and his wife purchased French's Repair Service in 1965 and operated it until the time of his death

David was a member of the Donna Masonic Lodge 1136 where he obtained the prestigious position of Worshipable Master and became a 32nd degree Master Mason and was a member of the Al Amin Shrine Temple of Corpus Christi. As a member of the Weslaco Elks Lodge 2057, he was elected Exhaulted Ruler for three terms and at the time of his death was serving as secretary of the lodge. For his devotion to the lodge, he was awarded Elk of the Year in 1985.

He was also a member of the board of directors of the Texas Elks Children's Service Hospital, Octine, Texas, and was elected as district vice president of the Texas Elks Association and served as the District Deputy Grand Exhaulted Ruler for the Southern District of Texas of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was also a member of the Weslaco Noon Lions Club, the Terlingua American Legion Post 10464, where he was awarded a lifetime membership for his dedication and also was a member of the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel of Weslaco. The Rev. Howard Bloomquist, pastor of the First Christian Church of Weslaco and the Weslaco Elks Lodge 2057 officiated. Interment followed at Highland Memorial Park, Weslaco. Masonic graveside rites were conducted by the Donna Masonic Lodge 1136. Serving as pallbearers were Dennis Eugene Hill, Jim Watson, Bob Watson, Mark Watson, Tom Watson, Keene Moncus and officers and members of the Weslaco Elks Lodge 2057. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Elks Children's Service, 201 S. Border, Weslaco, Texas 78596.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
