Lee O. Gibson, Sr. 01/08/2003

Lee O. Gibson, Sr., age 83, a former resident of Cardington and Marion died Wednesday evening, January 8, 2003, at Woodside Village Care Center. He was born March 22, 1919, in Hillsboro, Ohio to the late Edward and Maria (Nichols) Gibson.

Lee was in the US Army during WW II and served in both Africa and Italy. He had worked at Marion Power Shovel as a welder for 37 years.

On November 27, 1951, he married the former Edna Grace  Jones and she preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Renee (Ron) Dennis of Marengo; a son, Lee Gibson, Jr. of Cardington; step-daughter, Barbara Van Romer of Edison; step-sons, Dan Street of Fredericktown, James (Deborah) Street of Fulton and Thomas (Nancy) Street of Arizona; step-daughter-in-law, Helen Street of Marion; 1 grandchild; and sisters, Jean Nichols and Josie Perkins, both of Kenton.

In addition to his wife and parents Lee was preceded in death by a stepson, John Street.

In accordance with Leeís wishes, no public services will be observed. His burial was in Marion Cemetery with his wife.

The Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington assisted the family with the funeral arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at the link below.

John D. Bonnette 01/07/2003

John D. Bonnette, age 58, of North Canton, OH, died Tuesday morning, January 7, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. John was born in Marion, October 30, 1944, to the late Charles Henry Bonnette and Mary June (Tennant) Beatty.

John was a 1962 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School. He was employed as a Franchise Service Consultant with Hardee Food Systems for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Karen (Bender) Bonnette of North Canton, a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cindy Bonnette of Tampa, FL, a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Clarke Huff of Columbus, OH; five granddaughters, Anne, Maggie, Emily, Elizabeth and Rebecca; a brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Linda Bonnette, two sisters and bother-in-laws, Bobbie and Robert Breece and Rose and Phil Halbert all of Cardington, as well as, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother and father, John was preceded in death by his step-father, Richard F. Beatty, and two brothers, Geoffrey and Terry Bonnette.

Calling hours will be held in the North Canton area on Thursday at Reed Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM. Friends may also call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington Friday, January 10, 2003, from 5 to 8PM. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 11, 2003, at Gompf Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Union Cemetery, Cardington.

Robert Louis Hansen 02/03/2004

Robert Louis Hansen, age 69, of Barks Road East, Marion, passed away late Tuesday February 3,2004 in the Marion General Hospital Emergency Room. He was born on April 8,1934 to the late Robert and Margaret (Rupp) Hansen.

On September 29,1973 he married the former Barbara Eileen Wright and she survives him.

Robert graduated from Woodward High School in Toledo in 1952 and went on to obtain his Masters Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University where he graduated in 1979. He taught for a total of 32 years in several school districts. He taught, coached and was assistant principal at Cardington for several years. Robert was also a proud member of the United States Navy where he served his country for 34 years and was involved in the Korean Conflict.

During his lifetime Robert was also involved in Cardington Rotary, Commandary Council, Masonic Lodge #70, he was a member if the Shrine and also the Scottish Rite.

Additional survivors include his 2 sons and their wives, Rodney and Viktoriya Hansen and William and Shelley Hansen all of Marion; 2 grandchildren Jonathan and Miranda Hansen of Marion; 1 brother and his wife Roland and Judy Hansen of Mesa, Arizona.

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington on Friday February 6,2004 from 4-7PM where a Masonic Service will be held at 7PM. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon at 1PM with Reverend Daniel Kiger officiating. Burial will follow in Fulton Cemetery with full military honors.

June Perry 01/28/2004

June Perry, age 64, of Gilead Street in Cardington died Wednesday morning, January 28, 2004 at the Ohio State University Medical Center. She was born June 15, 1939 in Burning Springs, Kentucky to the late Oval and Lucy (Cornett) Smith.

She retired after a 30 year teaching career from Cardington-Lincoln High School. June was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Fogertown, KY, the Morrow County Republican Party, where she was an ongoing Century Club Member, and had worked as a Precinct Worker at the local polls. She was also a member of Kappa Delta Alpha.

On July 6, 1963 in North College Hill, Ohio, June married Franklin D. Perry and he survives her. Additional survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Dale Barnett of Mount Gilead; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Susan Perry of Cardington and Tim and Jennifer Perry of Mount Vernon, grandchildren, Perry and Peyton Barnett, Ellen and Jane Perry, and Jacob, Mahala, and Emma Perry; and brother, Paul Smith of New Port Richey, Florida.

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8PM. The funeral Service will be held Friday at 11AM in the Gilead Friends Church with Pastors Ronald Ellyson, Brian Mosher, Phil Hurlbert and Dave Graham officiating. The burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.

Charlotte E. Souder 01/18/2004

Charlotte E. Souder, age 49, of West 2nd St., Cardington died January 18, 2004 at Morrow County Hospital. She was born October 16, 1954 in Pontiac, MI to Clifford Templeton, who is deceased, and Ruby (Banks) Templeton, who survives in Cardington.

A 1973 graduate of Lucas HS, Charlotte had worded as an assembler and truck driver.

On April 10, 1981 in Delaware Charlotte married Robert C. Souder and he survives in Cardington.

Other survivors include; daughter and son in law, Robyn and Matthew Farrell of Mt. Gilead; grandson, Austin Farrell and a sister, Pamela Ann Thomas of Bellville.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 21, 2003 from 5-7PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington.

Ethel Hoffman 01/18/2004

Ethel Hoffman, age 77, beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother, of Fulton, Ohio was called to her Heavenly home January 18, 2004. She loved the Lord and will be missed by her family, friends and her brothers and sisters in Christ at the Fulton United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed playing the organ, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

She was born August 19, 1926, in Chippews Lake, Ohio and was predeceased by her parents, Perry and Icie (Clark) Eaken, brothers; Donald, Marvin (Pete), Lawrence (Larry), Leonard (Larry) and sisters; Mae Eaken, Lavada (Peg) McCarthy, Lela (Dot) Lanier, Elnora (Ellie) Shoemaker and Edna Stress.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth E. Hoffman whom she married January 12, 1947 in Burlington, Kentucky; four daughters, Judy (Tom) Seif of Marysville, Eileen (Frank) Reed of Iberia, Penny Caldwell of Mt. Gilead and Peggy (Ray) Carsner of Cardington, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marcella Blough of Wadsworth and many niece and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Thursday, January 22, 2004 at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. The Reverend Jeff Williams will officiate and burial will follow in Fulton Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30PM on Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David Seif, Michael Seif, Bill Roberts, Steven Roberts, Kenneth Ramoneda, Bob Ramondeda, Garry Caldwell, Carl Caldwell and great-grandson Justin Williams.

Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Fulton United Methodist Church, 104 West Main Street, Fulton, Ohio 43321.

Kenneth R. Mullins 01/15/2004

Kenneth R. Mullins, age 73, of Richelderfer Street, Cardington went home to be with the Lord Thursday evening, January 15, 2004. He was born October 20, 1930, in Elkhorn City, KY to the late Carl and Georgia (Stacey) Mullins.

A graduate of Elkhorn City HS, Kenneth served in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He was retired from HPM after working there 37 years. Kenneth also was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church near Marengo.

On October 9, 1954, he married the former Glenia Coleman and she survives in Cardington.

Survivors also include his daughter and son in law Debbie and Garry Newsome of Cardington, grandchildren, Brian Newsome and Keith Newsom of Cardington, brothers and sisters, Peggy Smith of Galena, Roger Mullins of Levonia, MI, Danny Mullins of Elkhorn City, KY, Ronnie Mullins of Laurel Maryland and many other family members.

In addition to his parents Kenneth was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Lesley, Jimmy and Paul Mullins.

Friends may call Saturday, January 17 from 3 to 7 PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2004 at 11 am at Little Ruth Baptist Church near Marengo. Elder Buddy Carty, Hillard Newsome and Kenny Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale cemetery with full military honors provided by the US Army and Jenkins-Vaughan American Legion Post # 97.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorial contributions be considered for Hospice of Morrow County, PO BOX 86, Mt. Gilead, OH 43338.
