Zoa Mae Karcher

Zoa Mae Karcher, 67, of 19964 CR 57, Forest, died at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at her home. She was born July 2, 1935 in Sycamore to Morris and Goldie (Johnson) Eicher. Her mother survives in Loudenville. On Nov. 28, 1957 she married Richard Eugene Karcher in New Washington, and he survives.

Also surviving includes: a son, Kevin R. Karcher of Upper Sandusky; two daughters, Juanita Louise Swartz of Harpster, and Deborah Mae Clark of Bucyrus; a brother, William Eicher of Willard; a sister, Barbara Snyder of Loudenville; and a twin sister, Zona Stillions of Mt. Vernon; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 at Bringman Clark & Co. Funeral Home. Burial at Biddle cemetery, Crawford County.

Visitation hours are from 6-9 p.m., tonight, at the funeral home.

Wayne E. Chaffee

Wayne E. Chaffee, 54, of 3702 S. CR 49, Bloomville, died at 3:55 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 at his home. He was born April 27, 1948 to Dorsey E. and Marjorie (Detterman) Chaffee, his mother survives in Tiffin.

Surviving include: two sons, Bill Chaffee of Clyde, and Mike Chaffee of Fremont; a daughter, Rhonda Schmidtz of Fremont; a brother, Terry Chaffee of Sandusky; two sisters, Martha Ann Sours of Tiffin, and Diane Hill of Carey; companion, Karen Kuhn of Bloomville; and six grandchildren.

Services at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 at Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial at Woodlawn cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 4-7 p.m., tonight at the funeral home.

Emma Josephine 'Josie' Cullison-Griffin

Emma Josephine, "Josie" Cullison-Griffin, 90, of Independence House, Fostoria, formerly of Risingsun, died 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Independence House.

She was born Nov. 29, 1912, in Bradner, to Pierre and Lola (Mansfield) Edmonds-Youngs, both deceased. She married Thomas S. Cullison in 1927, in Covington, Ky. He died Feb. 23, 1976. She married Cecil D. Griffin on June 16, 1979, in Risingsun. He died May 2, 1991.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Marion (Virginia) Schreiner of Tiffin; a son, Donald Cullison of Risingsun; a stepson, Donald Griffin of New Concord, Ky.; 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas V. Cullison; infant sons, Sylvester and Robert Cullison; a daughter, Evelyn Jean Cullison; a grandson, Mark A. Cullison; and two brothers, Dale and Wilbur Edmonds.

Mrs. Griffin was a homemaker and worked in sales at the former Cousin and Fern Hardware in Fostoria, and as a waitress at Rock Inn, Risingsun and Little Dandy Restaurant, Fostoria. She also cared for the sick and elderly in their homes. She was a member of Victory Evangelical Church in Risingsun. Mrs. Griffin enjoyed flowers, gardening, fishing and traveling to Florida in her motor home.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. 419-435-6694. Burial will be in Bradner cemetery, Wood County.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Helen J. Williams

Helen J. Williams, 86 of 182 St. Francis Ave., died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at St. Francis Home.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Home Chapel with the Rev. Jan Kucera officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at St. Francis Chapel.

Further arrangements are pending at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

John Edwin Gearig Sr.

John Edwin Gearig Sr., 72, of Liberty Center, died Thursday evening, Dec. 5, 2002, at his residence.

He was born May 5, 1930, in Liberty Center, to the late Edwin and Beulah (Hoyt) Gearig. He married Nancy Osborn on May 3, 1975.

Surviving are: his wife, Nancy Gearig of Liberty Center; three sons, John E. Gearig Jr. of Paulding, Ronald V. Burdine of Antwerp and Jeff Burdine of Tiffin; four daughters, Cathy Baker of Defiance, Pam White of Neapolis, Lynn Duncan of Portage and Beverly Schmidlin of Liberty Center; a brother, Elgin Gearig of Alvordton; 24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Napoleon. Burial will be in Shiloh cemetery in Delta.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Wright Funeral Home in Liberty Center.

Evelyn A. Barringer

Evelyn A. Barringer, 88, of Independence House in Fostoria, died 8:10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Independence House.

She was born Feb. 16, 1914, in Bettsville, to Ross W. and Gertrude (Betts) Feasel. She married Dale E. Barringer, in Indiana, on June 29 1935. He died Oct. 25, 1982.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Weaver cemetery in Bloomdale.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

George W. Weber

George W. Weber, 80, 2366 W. TR 132, Tiffin, died at 4:44 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born July 6, 1922, in Tiffin, to the late Herman and Ida (Haase) Weber. On Oct. 23, 1945, in St .John's United Church of Christ, he married Jane Shumaker. She died Dec. 12, 1984.

Surviving are: a son, Dave Weber of Potterville, Mich.; a daughter, Sandy Kestner of LaCenter, Wash.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Stall of Galion and Edith Nims of Tiffin.

Four brothers and two sisters also are deceased.

Mr. Weber, who had lived most of his life in the Tiffin area, retired from General Electric after 17 years of service. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Bascom United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Keeton officiating. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Home Health Care.

Jack W. Twining

Jack W. Twining, 64, of 307 East North Street, Carey, died at 12:20 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay. He was born Dec. 27, 1937 in Carey to Russell Twining, and the late Betty (Kemmerly) Twining. Mr. Twining survives in Lima, Ohio. He was first married to Fay Conley-Higginbotham, they divorced. On April 20, 1962 he married Janet L. Shue, and she survives.

Also surviving includes: four children: Betty Jo Twining of Carey, Tina Begley of Findlay, Jon Twining of Findlay, and William "Bill" Twining of Carey; four step-children: Mrs. Clark (Connie) Phillips of Findlay, Diane Hussey of Carey, Hank Conley of Atlanta, GA., and Tammy Higginbotham of Lexington, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. E.J. (Joanne) Wright of Carey; a brother, Gerald Twining of Fostoria; two step-brothers, Edwin Kauble of Wharton, and Mark Kauble of Florida; three grandchildren: Tara Nye, Logan Twining-Norden, and Hunter Twining-Claflin; and a great grandchild, Zarrick Ramirez.

Preceded in death was a step-sister, Trudy Fox.

Mr. Twining was a Class of 1955 graduate of Carey High School, where he was Class President. He was employed at Dayco-Swan in Bucyrus for 47 years as an industrial engineer. A member of the Protestant faith. Past member of Carey Kiwanis, he enjoyed golf, boating, and fishing on Lake Erie. He was also an avid Buckeyes, Browns and Indians fan.

Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, in Carey, The Rev. Brett Kelly will officiate. Burial at Spring Grove cemetery, Carey.

Visitation hours are from 6-9 p.m., tonight, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to: Findlay Soccer Club; Carey Midget Football; and/or to the charity of the donor's choosing, c/o the funeral home.

Cecil E. Perrine

Cecil E. Perrine, age 60, of 339 Water St., Tiffin, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002. He died at 2:57 a.m. in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born Sept. 5, 1942, in Seneca County, to Rollie and Stella (Schell) Perrine. He married Gloria A. Smith Oct. 7, 1966, in the First Assembly of God, Tiffin. She survives in Tiffin.

Also surviving are: a son, Brian D. Perrine, and his fiancee, Cassandra "Casey" Hammonds of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. Christopher (Dawn) Hoerig and Mrs. Charles (Jennifer) Clouse, both of Tiffin; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Richard (Yvonne) Miller of Tiffin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Velma Powers.

Mr. Perrine was a lifetime resident of Seneca County and was a graduate of Columbian High School, Class of 1961. He retired from Allied Signal in Fostoria in 1996. Mr. Perrine was a member of New Beginnings Assembly of God in Tiffin. He enjoyed fishing and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army Military Police veteran serving stateside from 1964 to 1966.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the New Beginnings Assembly of God with the Rev. Rex E. King officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens with military graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home, Tiffin.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Beginnings Assembly of God or to the family.

Helen J. Williams

Helen J. Williams, 86, of 182 St. Francis Avenue, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at St. Francis Home.

She was born Oct. 18, 1916, in Tiffin, to Forrest and Nellie (Shafer) Niswender. She married John E. Williams in Covington, Ky., Sept. 5, 1935. He died April 19, 2000.

Surviving are a sister Thya Ann Sigafoose of Findlay and a sister-in -law Cherie Hartschuh of Bowling Green.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Dana and Theron Niswender, and a sister Dorothy Hoover.

Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Columbian High School. She was an office manager for Dr. Abbott and also worked at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Home Chapel with the Rev. Jan Kucera officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge cemetery. (Egbert's)

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, noon-1 p.m., on Tuesday at the St. Francis Home Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice.

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Eugene W. Lucius

Eugene W. Lucius, 65, of 3052 S. CR 591, Tiffin, died 8:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, in the Emergency Care Center of Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Tiffin, to Louis and Pauline (Wank) Lucius. He married Alice (Brose) Lucius on Oct. 12, 1957, in St. Peter Catholic Church, Alvada. She survives.

Also surviving are: three sons, Dan (Kim) Lucius, Tom (Shirley) Lucius, both of Tiffin, and Mark (Phyllis) Lucius of New Riegel; a daughter, Donna (John) Poignon of Tiffin; nine grandchildren, Andrew Poignon, Drew Lucius, Jeremy Lucius, Adam Poignon, Theresa Lucius, Brandon Lucius, Jared Poignon, Marisa Lucius and Megan Lucius; three brothers, Marion Lucius and Herman Lucius, both of Tiffin, and Virgil Lucius of Camarillo, Calif.; three sisters, Alice (Emil Jr.) Siegle of New Riegel, Rose Mary (Douglas) Brown of Willard and Helen Ring of Twinsburg.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Louis Paul and Leo J. Lucius.

Mr. Lucius attended New Riegel High School. He retired in 1999 after 44 years as a molder at Webster Manufacturing Co. in Tiffin and he also co-owned E & R Construction Co. He was a very active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Riegel. Mr. Lucius was a member of New Riegel Moose Lodge and enjoyed hunting, camping and walking. He was also a very talented handyman/carpenter.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, with the Rev. Leonard Kistler officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, (419) 447-3113. There will be a Parish Wake Service at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited in church at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pheasants Forever or to the St. Boniface cemetery Chapel Fund in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Jeffery L. Yoder

Jeffery L. Yoder, 43, of TR 105, Kansas, Ohio, died 6:50 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at his home.

He was born April 26, 1959, in Fostoria, to Dale and Barbara (Sherick) Yoder.

Surviving are: his parents, Dale and Barbara Yoder of Kansas; two brothers, Michael Allen Yoder of Republic and John Joseph Yoder of Tiffin.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Kansas cemetery, Kansas.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mary Jane Fox

Mary Jane Fox, 82, of 135 North Monroe St., Tiffin, formerly of County Rd. 226, Fostoria, died at 9:55 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. She was born Nov. 9, 1920 in Fostoria to Martin and Bertha (Kehn) Mabus. On June 30, 1943 she married Carl E. Fox at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, he died July 31, 2002.

Surviving include: two sons, John Fox of Republic, and Richard Fox of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia (Michael) Donaldson of Canton, MI.; a brother, Larry Mabus of Bryan; a sister, Mrs. Laura (Paul) Krueger of Napoleon; and five grandchildren.

Preceded in death were: a daughter, Patricia Fox; two sisters, Kathryn Baker, and Althea Mabus.

Mrs. Fox was a Class of 1938 graduate of St. Wendelin High School. She retired as a Postal Clerk of the Fostoria Post Office, after 18 years. Her memberships included: St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and its Rosary-Altar Society; daughters of Isabella; 55 Plus Club; and the Loudon Center Grange, Fostoria.

The Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002 in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Burial in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, at Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christain Wake Service will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin Church.

John M. Houck

John M. Houck, 75, of Greeley, Colorado, formerly of Tiffin, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002. He was born April 22, 1927 in Tiffin to Isaac and Agnes (Wisenburger) Houck. On Jan. 21, 1950 he married Mary Alice Steinmetz in Tiffin, she preceded him in death.

Surviving include: three sons, Jim Houck of Windsor, Colorado, Mike Houck of Findlay, Ohio, and Don Houck of Boulder, Colorado; four daughters, Margaret Miller of Boulder, Colorado, Jane Plant, and Patty Rowe, both of Greeley, Colorado and Annette Bruner of Kuna, Idaho; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death: parents, wife, two brothers, and a sister.

Mr. Houck was a Veteran serving during WW II in the U.S. Navy from September 21, 1944 through August 1, 1946. He served in the South Pacific and received three medals and was honorably discharged. John loved photography, especially taking pictures of the mountains. He had a great sense of humor. John was a talented furniture builder. He was a caring father and husband who was always there when he was needed. John was a great storyteller. His family enjoyed listening to the stories of his early life and WW II. John will be missed by his family and many friends. John was a member of the VFW.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greeley. Burial Loveland Burial Park.

Visitation hours are from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, at the Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th Street, Greeley, CO. 80634, PH: 970-330-7301, where a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m..

Military Honors will be presented by the VFW Pioneer Post 2121 of Greeley.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado, 2726 W. 11th Street Road, Greeley, CO 80634.
