Raymond Urban Goshe

Raymond Urban Goshe, 60, of 31 N. Perry St., New Riegel, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at his residence, of an apparent heart attack.

He was born Dec. 5, 1942, in Fostoria, to the late Urban and Alice (Reinhart) Goshe.

Surviving are: two sisters, Mary (Tony) Steinhauser of Tiffin; Agnes Goshe and husband Jim Garrett of Sedona, Ariz.; four nieces, Christina Siani, Janet Roberts, Karen Moore, Jean Haren; two nephews, David Zoeller and Ron Steinhauser; three great-nieces and three great-nephews, Sara Zoeller, Nathan Zoeller, Mitchell Haren, Bradley Haren, Zachary Moore and Natalie Moore.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Zoeller.

Mr. Goshe was a 1961 graduate of New Riegel High School. He was an employee of General Electric Company in Tiffin, until it closed. He also was a farmer for "Doc" and Mary McClung, as they were special friends. He also was the New Riegel local schools maintenance supervisor for 10 years.

Mr. Goshe was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Riegel, a New Riegel volunteer fireman and life member of American Legion Post 354 of New Riegel.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Military Police.

The funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at St Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Harry Cavanaugh officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, OH 44883 (419) 447-3113, and one hour prior to the mass at the church on Thursday.

A Wake service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Also, the American Legion Post will have a service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home; the Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the funeral mass, and military services will be conducted at the grave site by American Legion Post 354.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel local schools, and New Riegel Fire Department, in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Thelma C. Shankle

Thelma C. Shankle, 90, of Massillon, died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Donna Harper in Republic.

She was born Dec. 4, 1912, in Cherry Tree, Pa., to the late Allen and Ethel (Croft) Fulton. She married Ord Shankle, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are: two sons, Clyde Shankle and Harold "skinny" Shankle, both of Massillon; three daughters, Marvis Lewis of Massillon, Ethel Lawson of New Jersey and Donna Harper of Republic; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Alfred Young of State College, Pa., Chuck Young of Parma and Howard Young of Indiana, Pa.; three sisters, Rebecca Shankle of Indiana, Pa., Elsie Pollock of Jacksonville, N.C. and Jane Young of Willard.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Wesleyan Methodist Church of Massillon. Burial will be in Brookfield cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Alfred L. Welly

Alfred L. Welly, 78, of West Crocker St., Fostoria, died 4:52 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay.

He was born June 6, 1924, in Seneca County, to Joseph and Matilda (Kirian) Welly. He married Doris J. (Drenning) Welly on Sept. 30, 1946, in Fostoria.

She survives in Fostoria.

Also surviving are: a son, James A. Welly of Fostoria; three daughters, Marlene Tussinger of Kokomo, Ind., Pamela Kessler of Carey and Mary Rader of Fostoria; three sisters, Mary Doogs, Florence Foltz, both of Fostoria, and Emma Welch of Frederickstown; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens near Arcadia.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Velma Mae Walter-Steele

Velma Mae Walter-Steele, 97, of Fox Run Manor in Findlay, formerly of 146 Newhard St., Carey, died 8: 50 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Fox Run Manor.

She was born July 11, 1905, in Wyandot County to the late Charles and Nettie (Southward) Walter-Axline. She married Lester C. "Pony" Steele on Nov. 10, 1923. He died Oct. 5, 1954.

Surviving are: a son, Jerry Lee Smith of Commerce, Ga.; a daughter, Dorothy Kelly of Findlay; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great, great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lelah Mick and Dorothy Schroen, both of Findlay; a half-brother, Adrian Axline of Marion.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. Burial will be in Zion Bloom cemetery in Vanlue.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Nora Lee Dandar

Nora Lee Dandar, 74, of Tiffin, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003.

She was born Sept. 11, 1928, in Fremont, to Laura Belle Palmer Warring and the late Lester Palmer. She married the Rev. Alex Dandar June 28, 1948.

Survivors include her husband; her mother; two sisters, Susan Wickert of Tiffin and Judith Palmer of Philadelphia, Pa.; four sons, Steven of Willard, Matthew of Tiffin, Jonathan of Gibsonburg and Samuel of Waterville; a daughter, Anne of Midland, Mich. and 10 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Fort Seneca Community United Church of Christ, with fellowship time following at the church.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to express a memorial gift consider Church World Service, 28606 Phillips St., PO Box 968, Elkhart, Ind. 46515.

Nicholas Jason Bowersock-Piddock

Nicholas Jason Bowersock-Piddock, was stillborn 10:17 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.

Surviving are: his father, Jake A. Piddock; and his mother, Tina M. Bowersock, both of Findlay; a brother, Anthony Miller, at home; maternal grandparents, Linda Bowersock of Carey; James and Mary Bowersock of Carey; maternal great-grandparents, Ray and Jane Bowersock of Sarasota, Fla.

Private graveside services were conducted at Spring Grove cemetery in Carey. Burial was in Spring Grove cemetery.

Norman Jurgens

Norman Jurgens, 87, formerly of Tiffin, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, in a Toledo nursing home.

His wife, Martha (Russell) Jurgens, whom he married Oct. 3, 1936, in Mansfield, is deceased.

Surviving are four children, 11 grand children,14 great-grandchildren and a sister.

Visitation is 3-6 p.m. today (Wed) at the Ansberg West Funeral Home, Toledo.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Toledo.

Forrest F. Bingman

Forrest F. Bingman, 82, formerly of White St., died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Arbors Assisted Living in Clyde.

He was born May 14, 1920, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Warren and Belle (Wilcox) Bingman. He married Jane L. (Frederick) Bingman on May 22, 1948. She died July 5, 1993.

Surviving are: two sons, Don Bingman of Fremont and Douglas Bingman of Connecticut; two brothers, Calvin Bingman of Canton and Glenn Bingman of Ballwin, Mo.

Mr. Bingman was a World War II Air Corp. veteran.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clyde. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Garden with military graveside services provided by the Clyde American Legion and Clyde VFW.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde.

Robert L. Mack

Robert L. Mack, 76, 60 North SR 101, Tiffin, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at his home.

He was born April 6, 1926, in Tiffin, to the late Floyd and Cynthia L. (Lyman) Mack. His wife, Dorothy M. (Long) Mack, whom he married July 18, 1945, in Fort Seneca, survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Barbara) Sondys of Toledo; a son, Robert E. and wife Bonnie Mack of Fostoria; a brother, Paul Richard and wife Coletta Mack of New Riegel; three sisters, Mrs. Donald (Ida Mae) Seifert, Mrs. Gerald (Georgiann) Albright and Mary Jane Reinbolt, all of Tiffin; grandchildren, Kathleen Carroll, Sherry Sharp, Frank Sondys II, Robb Mack and Ginger Jeffery and nine great-grandchildren.

Four brothers, Floyd Jr., John, William and Donald, are deceased.

Mr. Mack served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard during World War II. He was employed as a truck driver for R D S Mowery, retiring in 1989. He attended the Church of the Nazarene.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, in Seneca Memory Gardens Chapel, with the Rev. Jon B. Bravinder officiating. Entombment will be in Seneca Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with military services conducted by the United Veterans Council

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Seneca County Dialysis Center or Maumee Kidney Foundation.

Carmella Bommarito

Carmella Bommarito, 82, formerly of Detroit, Mich., died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Countryside Continuing Care Center in Fremont.

She was born May 22, 1920, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Michael and Palma Marasco. She married Charles B. Bommarito on Nov. 8, 1941. He died in 1990.

Surviving are: a son John Bommarito of Clyde; a daughter, Antoinette Loose of Michigan; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a sister Stella Fera of Michigan.

Private family funeral will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clyde.

There will be no burial.

Alice Marie Stetler

Alice Marie Stetler, 60, of Norris Drive, Clyde, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Bellevue Hospital.

She was born June 1, 1942, in Halevville, Ala., to the late Dewey James and Lurene (McNutt) McBroom. She married Vernon "Red" Stetler on June 28, 1996. He survives.

Also surviving are: three sons, Paul Brown, Jr. and Richard Stetler, both of Clyde, and Rex Stetler of Bellevue; a daughter, Patricia Bessken of Clyde; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene McBroom of Lynchburg, Va., Hollis McBroom of Clyde and Otis McBroom of Bellevue.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. Burial will be in Flat Rock cemetery, Flat Rock.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Kristopher P. Doe

Kristopher P. Doe, 19, of 505 David St., Bettsville, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born Dec. 4, 1983 in Fostoria to Thadley S. and Denise M. (Minich) Doe, both survive in Bettsville.

Other survivors include: paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Joyce Doe of Fostoria; maternal grandmother, Gloria (Soper) Minich of Rockford, OH; a brother, Nicholas J. Doe of Bettsville; three sisters, Shanna Doe of WIS, Tiffany Struble, and Kendra Doe, both of Bettsville.

Preceded in death was a maternal grandfather, Paul M. Minich.

Mr. Doe was a Class of 2002 graduate of Bettsville High School. He worked for TRM and set modular homes. A member of ATVA, All Terrain Vehicle Association, as he enjoyed riding ATV's with family and friends.

Services at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 at Engle Funeral Home of Bettsville, with The Pastor Mike Carnevale officiating. There will be no burial at this time.

Visitation hours are from 5-8 p.m., tonight, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.

John W. Akers

John W. Akers, 56, 535 N. Washington St., Tiffin, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, in Hancock County.

He was born Oct. 10, 1946, in Tiffin, to the late Wiley and Louise (Haman) Akers. He never married .

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Larry (Dorothy) Long of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; a nephew, Matthew Long of Lawrenceburg; uncles, Charles Haman and John and wife Peggy Haman, all of Tiffin; aunts, Zura Stevens of Mount Airy, N.C., Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Maher of Denver, Co. and Sister Clare Haman OSA of Fond du Lac, Wis.

A 1964 Calvert High School graduate, he earned his bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Findlay College. He was employed as as truck driver for HYWAY Trucking. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Moose. Mr. Akers served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam 1964-67 on the air craft carrier Enterprise.

A Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic cemetery at a later date. Military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council at a later date.

There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ernest 'Ernie' D. Miller

Ernest "Ernie" D. Miller, 85, of 1519 East Main Cross St., Findlay, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003 at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center. He was born July 6, 1917 to Owen and Adelene Miller. On August 3, 1963 he married Mary Mathes in Toledo, and she survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. William (Vanessa) Grasman of Tiffin; a sister, Vannessa Kemberly of Evansport, OH; a brother, Owen "Junior" Miller, Jr. of Winterhaven, Fla.; two grandchildren, Stephanie Fischer of Tiffin and Nathan Mellott of Mt. Blanchard; and a great-grandchild, Taylor Fischer of Tiffin.

Preceded in death were two brothers, Victor and Claude Miller.

Mr. Miller was owner and operator of Miller Motor Sales in Findlay until he retired in 1974. He was a member of the Elks in Findlay.

Services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 at the Routson Funeral Chapel, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, with The Rev. Bruce Colbert officiating. Burial at Knollcrest Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation hours are from 7-9 p.m., tonight, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Home Healthcare, 96 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883.

Helen Lucile Chilcoat

Helen Lucile Chilcoat, 91, a resident of Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky and formerly of Alvada, died at 5:40 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Fairhaven Community.

She was born Aug. 14, 1911, in Hancock County's Washington Township near Fostoria, to Park and Dorcas (Elbin) Graber. She married Charles H. Chilcoat Nov. 27, 1934, in Greenup, Ky. and he died July 13, 1969.

Survivors include: three sons, John D. of Pickerington, Charles P. of Wilmington and Floyd H. of Russellville, Ark.; a daughter, Lois H. Arnold of Alvada; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with burial in St. John's cemetery near Fostoria.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
