Kenneth A. Deppen Sr.

Kenneth A. Deppen Sr., 87, of SR 269 North Bellevue, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky.

He was born May 9, 1915, in Tiffin, to the late Alvin and Alta (Smith) Deppen. He married Mary (Moser) Deppen on Dec. 25, 1941. She survives.

Also surviving are: two sons, Kenneth Deppen, Jr. of Bellevue and James E. Deppen of Fremont; three daughters, Dianne Schank of Tiffin, Carol Boies and Christine Hozvicka, both of Bellevue; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Burton Deppen and Richard Deppen, both of Willard; two sisters, Kathryn Warner of Bellevue and Helen Hassinger of North Monroeville.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Auxter Funeral Home in Bellevue. Burial will be in Bellevue cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Charles 'Don' Everetts

Charles "Don" Everetts, 77, of 158 Erie St., Tiffin, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003 in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. He was born June 24, 1925 in Garrett, Indiana to Charles I. and Lotta Belle (Hagerty) Everetts. On June 23, 1925 he married Glee Ova Lake in St. Paul United Methodist Church in Tiffin, and she survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Swain (Carolyn) Britt of Pensacola, Florida, and Mrs. David (Janie) Lucius of Tiffin; a son, Lee Everetts and wife Sherrie of Tiffin; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Barbara) Henry of Willard; and a grandchild, Gabriell.

Preceded in death were: a sister, Auliene Holden; and two brothers, Raymond Hagerty and Robert L. Everetts.

Mr. Everetts was a Willard High School graduate. A U.S. Army Veteran serving during WW II, Sgt. Donald Everetts of the 28th Infantry Division 112th Regiment Company D made the Invasion of the Battle of the Bulge and was wounded for the first time at St. Lo, France. He fought through hedge rows, took Paris and marched down the main drag of Paris. After leaving Paris, he was wounded again. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars, 5 Company Ribbons and twice awarded The Purple Heart. He worked for 42 years as inspector and foreman for CSX Railroad, retiring in June of 1985. Mr. Everetts memberships included: life member of V.F.W. Tiffin Post #2858; life member of D.A.V.; Transportation Communications International Union member; life member 112th Infantry Regiment Association; life member Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge WW II; and member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003 at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home with The Rev. Scott Hayward officiating. Burial at Fairmont cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 4-8 p.m., tonight, at the funeral home. A Military Graveside Service will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Marcella Agnes Pahl

Marcella Agnes Pahl, 92, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin, where she had resided since 1987.

She was born April 12, 1910, in Tiffin, to the late James and Mary (Fate) Huffmon. On Oct. 10, 1931, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married George H. Pahl. He died July 21, 1955.

Surviving are three sons, David (Mary Ann) Pahl of Tiffin, George (Norma) Pahl Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind. and Jerry (Sylvia) Pahl of Kalamazoo, Mich; two daughters, Suzanne (Robert) Simmons of Tiffin and Sister Mary St. Paul of the Poor Clare Order in Cleveland; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Louis, Jess, Edward and Robert Huffmon; and three sisters, Estella Hartman, Corrine Furiate and Helen Haefling.

Mrs. Pahl, a 1928 graduate of Calvert High School, where she was a member of the school's first girl's basketball team, also attended one year at Mary Manse College.

George and Marcella were co-owners of the Pahl Funeral Home (now Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home) from 1943-1956. She also was employed from 1952-1975 at the First National bank (now National City Bank), retiring as a teller. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin.

A funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, in St. Francis Home Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Dunn and Msgr. Edward Dunn as co-officiants. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Tiffin.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Poor Clares, Calvert High School or St. Francis Home, in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, Box 517, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, phone (419) 447-3113.

Harry E. Smith Jr.

Harry E. Smith Jr., 75, of 237 Union st., Tiffin, died in his home Thursday, March 6, 2003. He was born May 15, 1927 to the late Harry E. and Gertrude G. (Brown) Smith, Sr.

Surviving include: two sisters; and two brothers.

Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WW II.

Burial will be at Fairmont cemetery.

Military Graveside Services conducted by the United Veterans Council.

The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Mark L. Hickman

Mark L. Hickman, 45, of 166 8th Ave., Tiffin, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003. Visitation hours are from 4-6 p.m. Sunday.

Services at 11 a.m. Monday, March 10 at Turner-Engle Funeral Home, where arrangements are being handled.

Dorothy L. Burch

Dorothy L. Burch, 89, of 1616 Old Lantern Trail, Ft. Wayne, Ind., formerly of Fostoria, died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003 in Parkview Medical Center. She was born April 23, 1913 to William and Alice (Pettiford) Brown. On Oct. 31, 1931 she married Jethro Burch, he preceded her in death.

Surviving include: Eight children, Barbara Long of Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., Betty Ann Garnes, Findlay, Jethro (Geraldine) Burch of Springfield, Lela Crawford of Toledo, Lois Burch of Youngstown, Carolyn Jones, and Catherine Burch, both of Ft. Wayne, IN., and Deborah (Phillip) Weiker of Sylvania; 30 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death were: a stepson, Frederick Burch; seven brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Burch retired from General Electric, Tiffin, with over 25 years of service, she was also a homemaker. A member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Fostoria. Her memberships included: former Fostoria Branch President, Ohio State President, and National Board Member of the NAACP, first member of the NAACP Regional Hall of Fame, Board of African-America, National Museum in Wilberforce, OH., which also houses a doll with her image. She was very active in the civil rights movement. former President of the Wood, Seneca, Ottawa and Sandusky County Headstart Board. Former Chief Steward, vice president and negotiator for the International United Electrical Workers Union.

Services at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Alspach-Gerhart Funeral Home, 722 S. Washington St., Van Wert, OH 45891 PH: 419-238-1112. Burial at Greenbriar cemetery,

Visitation hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Middle Run Baptist Church, Xenia, Ohio.

Robert C. Pease

Robert C. Pease, 84, of 71 Westwood Drive, Tiffin, died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003 in the Medical College of Ohio. He was born in Bucyrus on Dec. 26, 1918 to the late Roy and Mary A. (Cummings) Pease. On June 14, 1942 he married Jane Weaver in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Patty Pease of Marysville, OH, and Mrs. Penny (Steve) Fazekas of Tiffin; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Wanda Baker of Findlay; and three grandchildren, Scott (Missi) Fazekas of Sunbury, OH, Katie Fazekas of Tiffin, and Elizabeth Pease of Marysville, OH.

Mr. Pease was a graduate of Ohio Northern University in 1940. He is a U.S. Amy Veteran serving during WW II. He attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant and served for five years. He spent 35 years as the owner of Pease TV and Appliances, after retirement he was a realtor with Wayne Griffin. A member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and active with the church's softball and dartball leagues.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003 at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church with The Rev. Scott Hayward officiating.

Visitation hours are from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Lora Mae Stark

Lora Mae Stark, 72, of Risingsun, died Wednesday morning, March 5, 2003, at her residence.

She was born May 4, 1930, in Spuorlock, W.Va., to the late James William and Freida (Bailey) McComas. Her first husband Lawrence Lee Baumgardner, died June 8, 1991. She later married James D. Stark and he survives in Risingsun.

Other survivors include: step-children, James Stark of Apple Grove. W.Va., John Stark of Fostoria, Janet Simpkins of Apple Grove, Jeff Stark of Olive Hill, Ky., Gene McAffe of Findlay, Joseph Stark of Bettsville and Bridget Walker of Maumee; eight step-grandchildren; three brothers, James McComas Jr. of Pliny, W.Va., Joe McComas of Ashton, W.Va. and Richard McComas of Crystal, Minn.; and three sisters, Patricia Waugh of Aston, Wilodine Setiff of Fraziers Bottom, W.Va. and Anna Lee Smith, also of Ashton.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant, W.Va., where visitation will take place 6-8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Mt. Union cemetery, Pliny, W.Va.

The Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. is in charge of local arrangements.

Paul C. Sheeley

Paul C. Sheeley, 62, of 1705 Walnut St., Fostoria,died suddenly at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003 in Toledo Hospital. He was born April 27, 1940 in Tiffin to William Clifford and Therese Vera (Michaels) Sheeley, he survives in Tiffin. On June 14, 1974 he married Jean C. (Weinandy) Frankart at St. Wendelin's, and she survives in Fostoria.

Also surviving include: a step-daughter, Mrs. Chris (Nancy) Fout of Fostoria; a step-son, Randall (Lori) Frankart of Dayton; a sister, Mrs. Dean (Ruth) Schaffer of Monroeville; and three step-grandchildren.

Mr. Sheeley was a was a graduate of Calvert High School. A U.S. Army Veteran and formerly worked as a millwright for Sterling Abrasive Products, Tiffin, a farmer, and currently a millwright for Norton Manufacturing, Fostoria. His memberships included: St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, Seneca Antique Farm Machinery Association, National Threshers Association, and United Steel Workers #7808.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003, in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be at St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation hours are from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. tonight, and Saturday from 11-noon, at Hoening Funeral home, Fostoria, where a Christian Wake Service will be at 7 p.m., tonight.

Memorials may be made to St. Wendelin Schools Educational Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Michael T. Allbaugh

Michael T. Allbaugh, 31, of 4 Achre Court, Tiffin, died Sunday, March 9, 2003, resulting from an automobile accident.

He was born Aug. 11, 1971, in Tiffin, to Darlene Allbaugh Yates. She survives in Tiffin. He married Jenny Burns in Tiffin, on Aug. 11, 1994. They later divorced.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Sydney Allbaugh of Tiffin; two brothers, John and Corey Yates, both of Tiffin, two aunts, Connie Murphy and Tammy DeWald, both of Tiffin; an uncle, Steve Allbaugh of Tiffin; and a grandmother, June Steinmetz of Tiffin.

Mr. Allbaugh was a graduate of Columbian High School and worked as an installer for J.B. Roofing for 4 years. He attended St. Paul United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Blevins officiating. Burial will be in St. Jacob cemetery, Tiffin.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to his family.

Donald E. Nickelson

Donald E. "Gene" Nickelson, 74, of 2016 Shoreline Dr., Sandusky, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003, at Firelands Hospital in Sandusky. He had been hospitalized for the last 3 days and died of an apparent heart attack. He death was unexpected.

He was born on Feb. 10, 1929, in Bucyrus, to William Grant Sr. and Orra Catherine (Cornelius) Nickelson. He married Gloria (Jacobs) Nickelson on July 3, 1959. She survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Donald E. Nickelson, Jr. of Sandusky; a daughter, JoEllen Nickelson of Huron; a step-son, Steve Terry of Huron; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; a great-grandchild and two step great-grandchildren; three brothers, William Nickelson of Bucyrus, Jack Nickelson and James Nickelson, both of Florida; a sister, Joyce Hatcher of Galion.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William and Orra Nickelson; a brother, Raymond; and a sister, Ruth Jane.

Mr. Nickelson moved to the Tiffin area about 30 years ago from Bucyrus. He retired from Tiffin Enterprises after several years. Mr. Nickelson had a special love for his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards and fishing.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003, at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home in Bucyrus with the Rev. Billy Chatman officiating.

Christian Louis LaBonte Sr.

Christian "Chris" Louis LaBonte Sr. 82, of Bellevue, died Sunday, March 10, 2003, at Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Fla.

He was born March 25, 1920, in Springfield Township, Pa. to the late Louis Joseph and Irene Alice (Guihard) LaBonte. He married Frances M. (Clark) LaBonte on July 13, 1940. She died Aug. 14, 1995. He then married Rita L. (Herman) Lodge LaBonte at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bellevue on Sept. 28, 1996. She survives.

Also surviving are: two sons, Christian R. LaBonte, Jr. of Clyde and James A. LaBonte of Bellevue; a daughter, Linda Van Demark of Clyde; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two step-grandsons.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in Bellevue Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Foos and Son Funeral Home in Bellevue. There will be a Rosary service at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Bellevue V.F.W. and American Legion will conduct military honors at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Carl R. Riddle

Carl R. Riddle, 81, of 49 Westwood Dr., Tiffin, died Monday, March 10, 2003, in the Mercy Hospital of Tiffin Emergency Care Center.

He was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Tiffin, to Edward and Clara (Albright) Riddle. He married Margaret A. Ward in Washington Street United Methodist Church in Tiffin on Sept. 19, 1947. She survives in Tiffin.

Also surviving are: a son, Steven C. Riddle of Oakton, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. William (Janet) Anspaugh of Holland, Mich.; three grandchildren, Amy Schroth of Greenville, N.C.; Tracy Riddle and Stephanie Riddle are both of Oakton, Va.; and a brother, Gerald Riddle of Worthington.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Edward and Clara Riddle; two brothers, Edward and Fred Riddle; and two sisters, Stella Riddle and Alma Overmeyer.

Mr. Riddle was a 1939 graduate of Columbian High School and Tiffin University. He retired from National Machinery after serving 34 years in the Engineering Department.

He was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church; National Machinery Quarter Century Club; Tiffin Lions Club; United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 10-03; American Legion, and Pac-n' Go Camping Club.

Mr. Riddle was a World War II Army Air Force veteran.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gregg Sellers officiating.

Burial will be in Pleasant Union cemetery in Old Fort.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Street United Methodist Church, Lions Club, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lois E. Clauss

Lois E. Clauss, 73, of N. TR 63, Fostoria, died at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003, at her home.

She was born June 23, 1929, in Seneca Co., to Henry D. and Ella O. (Wilcox) Boyd. She married George Clauss in Risingsun on March 28, 1948. He survives in Fostoria.

Also surviving are: three sons, David and Robert Clauss, both of Fostoria, and Michael Clauss of Adrian; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Alice L. Raudabaugh

Alice L. Raudabaugh, 90, of 670 E. SR 18, died Monday, March 10, 2003, at Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin.

Further arrangements are pending at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Edith Kidd

Edith Kidd, 90, of 175 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, died at 4:10 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2003, at Friedman Village Retirement Community in Tiffin.

Arrangements are pending at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.
