Clair March Forrest Sr.

Clair March Forrest, Sr., 79, of 400 Melmore St., Tiffin, died at 9:45 p.m. in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

He was born April 6, 1923, in Wood Co., to Clair L. and Eunice (March) Forrest. On May 24, 1947, he married Martha Ann (Zeis) Forrest in Trinity United Church of Christ. She survives.

Also surviving are: four sons, Clair March Forrest Jr. of Tiffin, Lynn Sherwood Forrest of Columbus, Kirk Wesley Forrest of California, M.D. and Christopher Forrest of Mason; a daughter, Ann Estella Martin of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Robert A. Forrest of Hicksville and George L. Forrest of Tiffin; and two sisters, Jean White of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Janice Mollica of Granville.

Mr. Forrest was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a paratrooper in the 82 Airborne Division, serving in the European Theater.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Green lawn cemetery where graveside services will be conducted by the United Veteran Council.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday and one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Charles E. Livingston

Charles E. Livingston, 81, of 14 Clay St., Tiffin, died at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2003, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

He was born in Louisburg, Kansas, on Dec. 27, 1921, to Peter and Cecil (Larimer) Livingston, and they are both deceased. He had lived in the Tiffin area for 28 years and his former residence was Woodale, Ill.

He married Lenora Isham April 23, 1974, and she survives. Other survivors include include: a son, Charles Livingston II of Palatine, Ill.; two daughters, Sara Louise Livingston of Chicago, and Lisa Marie Kaminski; six grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Groce Anderson of Oak, Calif.

A brother, Winfred E. Livingston; and two sisters, Georgia N. Spurlock and Gladys E. Lynn preceded him in death.

He graduated from Louisburg High School and was a war veteran of World War II serving in England and Europe. He was President of Chembond Adhesives, Inc. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Tiffin Historic Trust, Elks Lodge, and served on the board and was actively involved in the preservation of The Ritz Theatre.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2003, in First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Hofmann officiating.

Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to The Ritz Theatre, First Lutheran Church, Tiffin Historic Trust or to a charity of the donor's choice.

The Turner-Engle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Olive M. Guss

Olive M. Guss, 94, formerly of 7 W. Market St., Tiffin, died at 6:55 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2003, in the Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.

She was born March 12, 1909, in Tiro, Ohio, to the late George and Sarah E. (Wolfe) McDonald. On Nov. 27, 1942, in Tiffin, she married Jack Guss, who died Dec. 31, 1971.

Surviving are four nieces, Ruth M. Crawford of Canton, Modelle Way of Dayton, Phyllis Duff of Fort Wayne, Ind. and June Roth, also of Canton; and two nephews, Buton McDonald of Tiffin and Gene Duff of Cleveland.

Two sisters and six brothers are deceased.

Mrs. Guss, a housekeeper for Mrs. Purdy for many years, was a charter member of the Moose Lodge and a member of the Daughters of America.

There will be no funeral service, however, those who wish may attend the burial at 1 p.m. Monday, March 31, in Greenlawn cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883.

Barbara J. Flood

Barbara J. Flood, 73, of 4591 South SR 19, Bloomville, died Thursday evening, March 27, 2003, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.

She was born Oct. 1, 1929, in Nevada, Ohio, to Samuel and Mary Ellen (Rinehart) McVay. She married Charles O. Flood Jr. on Sept. 22, 1962, in Weston, Ohio, and he died Sept. 12, 2002.

Survivors include: three sons, Ronald K. Flood of Avondale, Ariz., Samuel M. Flood of Sycamore, and Brian C. Flood of Bloomville; two daughters, Jane M. Boehler of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Beverly A. Milheim of Bucyrus; a brother, Robert McVay of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Ethel Vollmer of Silver Springs, Md., Hazel Fisher of Northwood, Ohio; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Arnold and Mary Jo Mierzewjeski; and two brothers, Tom and Richard McVay.

Mrs. Flood had worked as an inspector at GE in Tiffin and co-owned and operated Flood Trucking and Excavating in Bloomville, retiring in 1998.

She was a member of the Sycamore United Church of Christ and Luella Chapter 223 OES of Bloomville.

Funeral services will be Monday morning, March 31, 2003, at 11 a.m., at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 South SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. Diane Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in Bloomville.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bliss Memorial Public Library or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Alexis L. Wilson

Alexis L. Wilson, 83, 99 Nelson St., Tiffin, died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2003, in his home.

He was born March 8, 1920, in McCutchenville, Ohio, to the late Harley and Mame (Bardon) Wilson. His wife, Wilma Mae (Boyd) Wilson whom he married Jan. 12, 1948, survives.

Other survivors include: five children, Deborah Company of Clearwater, Fla., Carl Wilson of Tiffin, Stanley Wilson of Tiffin, Rebecca Wilson of Evaro, Mont., and William Wilson of Lafayette, Colo.; six grandchildren, Shawn Company, Orran Wilson, Angela Mathias, Daniel Winings, Christina Kindle, and Amy Tucker; and one sister, Doris Oswald of Tiffin. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his younger brother William Wilson.

Alexis was a graduate of McCutchenville High School in the year of 1938.

In the U.S. Army during World War II, he served as a Medical Corpsman. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received on Saipan, June 29, 1944.

He owned and operated Al's Gulf Point at Sixes Corners from 1947 to 1966 until he purchased the Bowes Distributing Franchise which he solely manned until 2003.

His enjoyments in life were bowling with the guys at the BOWL-A-DROME, arm chair coaching the Tribe, Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes, designing and constructing a car wash with his brother BILL, and hanging out as the senior member of "Frisch's Round Table."

Alexis, or as he was fondly known by all as BIG AL, loved his family and friends as much as he loved to laugh. The greatest asset he passed on to his children was his sense of humor. This one treasure alone lives on as it is passed down for generations to come.

There will be no visitation hours. Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council, 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Fairmont cemetery. A "Celebration of Life" will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at the Eagles Club, Hickory Room for family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Seneca County Veterans Council, Community Hospice Care or the Eagles Club Auxiliary.

Artis Yvonne Damon Brandeberry

Artis Yvonne Damon Brandeberry, 78, died at 2:48 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in Mesa, Ariz.

She was born April 18, 1924, near Arcadia, to John D. and Lulu M. (Dick) Damon. Yvonne married Ray Brandeberry Dec. 21, 1945.

Surviving are: her husband of 57 years, Ray Brandeberry of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Terry Brandeberry and Jon Brandeberry, both of Fostoria; a daughter, Nikki Kimbel of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna June King of Alvada.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wayne of Martinsville, Ind., and Reed of Tinley Park, Ill.

Yvonne was a 1942 graduate of Arcadia High School. She managed the Fostoria Lane's Drug Store for many years before her retirement. She and her husband had resided in Mesa, Ariz., for the past 23 years. Both were avid western square dancers and belonged to numerous square dance clubs. Yvonne's hobbies included sewing and playing organ music.

A memorial service was in Mesa, Ariz., March 20, 2003.

Kathryn Cleveland

Kathryn Maxine (Thom) Cleveland, 72, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born June 20, 1930, in Dearing, Kan., to the late Andrew and Florence Thom.

Surviving are: her husband, Wayne Cleveland; four sons, Fred of Republic, Mark, Stephen and Michael Cleveland, all of Clyde; three daughters, Sarah Chambers of Columbus, Cindy Geis of Lexington, Ky., and Waynetta Doyle of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond Thom of Vermilion.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde.

Corrine L. Reineke

Corrine L. Reineke, 69, of 1427 Van Buren St. No. 46, Fostoria, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2003, at the Independence House in Fostoria.

She was born June 16, 1933, in Toledo, to Alexander and Anna (Dick) Barchick, both are deceased. She married Wm. "Bill" F. Reineke Sr. on Jan. 31, 1953, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Toledo. He survives.

Also surviving are: four sons, Wm. F. Reineke Jr. of Tiffin, Thomas A. (Stacey) Reineke of Fostoria, John A. (Vannessa) Reineke of Brighton, Mich. and Daniel E. (Nikki) Reineke of Tiffin; six daughters, Mrs. Kerry (Jacqueline) Mitchell of Celina, Elizabeth A. Jadwisiak of Port Clinton, Mrs. Robert (Nancy J.) Nusser of Fostoria, Mrs. Joseph (Cynthia L.) Taylor of Fostoria, Mrs. Anthony (Susan P.) Casale of Tiffin and Mrs. John (Kathryn L.) Schneider of Middle Bass; 23 grandchildren; a brother, Richard M. Barchick of Toledo; and a twin sister, Mrs. Melvin (Kathleen A.) Sulewski of Toledo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Kevin Nusser.

Mrs. Reineke was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, St. Wendelin's Memorial, and church choir, as well as the church liturgical arts committee; the Antique Study Club in Fostoria, Fostoria Country Club, Catawba Island Club, former leader and advisor for Fostoria Camp Fire Girls Assn. She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, 1947 graduate of St. Agnes Elementary School in Toledo.

The Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, with the Fr. Mark Bowers officiating. A Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m.Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Wendelin Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be at 8:45 p.m.

Michaelina M. Paulus

Michaelina M. Paulus, 88, formerly of 178 N. Sandusky St., Tiffin, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

She was born April 1, 1914, in San Bartolomeo in Galdo, Italy, to the late Salvatore and Maria (Cercelli) Paradiso. On Oct. 22, 1949, she married John W. Paulus in St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1979.

Surviving are: two sons, Anthony J. (Pamela) Paulus and Dan D. Paulus, both of Tiffin; two daughters, Mrs. David (Michele M.) Franz of Springboro and Mrs. Rick (Charise A.) Hall of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Bennett Paulus, Jonathon "Gino" Paulus, Marisa Paulus, Anthony and Brenton Hall; two brothers, Daniel (Barbara) Paradiso and Salvatore (Rachel) Paradiso; five sisters, Mary Paradiso, Sara (Franklin) Ambrose, Philomena Mathias, Gilda Sue (John) Sczesny and Carmen Jean (Ray) Cervantes; and a sister-in-law, Rose Paradiso.

Preceding her in death were an infant son, John C. Paulus; two brothers, Joseph and Anthony Paradiso. Anthony was killed in action in Germany in March 1945.

Mrs. Paulus came to the United States with her mother in 1920. She attended Calvert High School. Mrs. Paulus owned and operated Tiffin's first Italian restaurant, Club Giovanni, from 1950-1958, and the West Side Carry Out for many years.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Mary's Women Choir and the Altar-Rosary Society. One way in which she showed her love for St. Mary's church was by volunteering at the festival for many years. She was also a volunteer for the St. Vincent dePaul Society.

The funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, in St. Mary School Gymnasium, with the Rev. Frank A. Murd officiating. The rosary will be prayed at 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the gymnasium. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, where a Wake service will be at 8:45 p.m..

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Charles E. Young Jr.

Charles E. Young Jr., 61, formerly of Sand Beach Rd, Oak Harbor, now of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Mid Western Regional Medical Center in Zion, Ill.

He was born June 4, 1941, in Bellevue, to Charles E. and Betty (Young) Young. They are deceased. He married Carolyn (Gehron) Young on May 13, 1961. She survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Christopher Young of Nashport; a daughter, Deb Taylor of Marysville; and five grandsons.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home in Clyde. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Vita M. Perna

Vita M. Perna, 91, of 261 Miami St., Tiffin, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2003, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin Emergency Care Center.

She was born Dec. 27, 1911, in Walbridge, to Joseph and Pauline (Conaggni) Fortunato. They are deceased. On Nov. 26, 1928, she married Leonard Perna at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tiffin. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1977.

Surviving are: five sons, John (Josephine) Perna, Joseph Perna, Leonard (Paula) Perna, Frank (Malinda) Perna, all of Tiffin, and Michael (Shirley) Perna of Cadillac, Mich.; seven daughters, Margie Hodges, Lucy (Barry) Wade, Jean (Larry) Adelsperger, Mary (Robert) Reid and Dolores (Michael) Herbert, all of Tiffin, Nattie Kistler of Georgetown and Connie (Thomas) Corrado of Bellevue; 52 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis (Laura) Fortunato of Bellevue; and a sister, Antonetta (Kenneth) Folk of Tiffin.

Preceding her in death were, a daughter Carmella Fabrizio; a brother, Daniel Fortunato; a sister, Angela Blaser; and a grandson, Adam Perna.

Mrs. Perna was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Murd officiating. Burial will be St. Mary Catholic cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, OH 44883 (419) 447-3113.

The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the mass.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmie Fabrizio Scholarship Fund; St. Mary Church; St. Francis Home Chiara Unit, or to the charity of the donor's choice in care of Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Kathryn M. Matthews

Kathryn M. "Kay" Matthews, 88, formerly of Park Ave., Fostoria, died at 5:09 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

She was born April 24, 1914, in Richland Township to Benjamin and Ella (Benjamin) Stumpp. She married Ford D. Matthews on May 27, 1933. He died Sept. 5, 1983.

Survivors include: two sons, James and Gary Matthews, both of Michigan; a daughter, Nadine Carr of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Tillie Baron of Mayfield Heights and Millie Hufford of Sycamore.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m Saturday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, Arcadia.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Stephen M. Reedy

Stephen M. Reedy, 50, 201 Sixth Ave., Tiffin, died at 1:09 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at his residence. Arrangements are pending at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, Tiffin.
