The Rev. C. Kent Chidester
Retired minister
The Rev. C. Kent Chidester, 86, 4169 E. CR 50, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday, April 13, 1998, in Autumnwood Care Center.
He was born in Lima, May 13, 1911, to William and Sylvia (Balmer) Chidester. On Aug. 4, 1936, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, he married
Mary Jane Schneider. She survives.
Other survivors include: four children, William A. Chidester of Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. William S. (Anne) Hamilton of Cincinnati, Mrs. Thomas (Jane) Eshelman of Westerville and John K. Chidester of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; a brother, Dale Chidester of Salem, Ohio; two sisters, Bernice Short of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Bradley (Ruth Ann) Pettibone of Racine, Wis.; and 11 grandchildren.
Three brothers, Brice, Robert and Richard, are deceased.
The Rev. Chidester graduated in 1933 from Heidelberg College, in 1936 from Eden Seminary, and earned his Doctor of Theology in 1940 from Oberlin Seminary. In 1965 he was awarded a Doctor of Divinity Degree by Heidelberg College.
He first served as minister at Ragersville, Fiat and Bakersville United Church of Christ, located in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, from 1936-40. In addition, he served as minister at the Memorial United Church of Christ in Toledo from 1940-1952; at Oakley United Church of Christ, Cincinnati, from 1952-60; at St. John United Church of Christ, Kenton, from 1960-67; as director of church relations and development for Heidelberg College from 1967-68; and as director of development for Lakeside Association from 1976-78. He retired in 1978.
A member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Tiffin, and Masonic Lodge of Oakley, Ohio, he was affiliated with the Northwest Ohio Association of United Church of Christ.
An avid forester, the Rev. Chidester planted thousands of trees in woods throughout Ohio and also secured several donations of forested land as nature preserves for Heidelberg College.
The Rev. William Smith will be the officiant at the 2 p.m. Friday service in Trinity United Church of Christ. Entombment will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Visitation at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Florence R. Brant
Retired State of Ohio inspector
Florence R. Brant, 89, of 1206 Roosevelt Road, Fostoria, died at 11:41 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 1998, at her residence.
She was born in Fostoria June 3, 1908, to John and Edna (Thomas) Wise. On Sept. 3, 1925, in Fostoria, she married
Ralph F. Brant. He died Feb. 25, 1998.
Surviving are a son, Charles R. Brant of Titusville, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Maxine) Lombardi and Mrs. Ernest (Betty) Bossler, both of Fostoria; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a brother, Harold Wise; and a sister, Katherine Wise.
Mrs. Brant, a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Fostoria, retired in 1976 after 30 years as an inspector for the State of Ohio Women's Minor Wage and Hour Division.
The Rev. Larry Blunden will conduct the 1:30 p.m. Wednesday service in the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation will be noon until time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Fostoria Community Hospital Home Health Care or Community Hospice of Seneca County.
William Dyer
Air Force/Army/National Guard retiree
William Dyer, 66, of 4050 CH 107, Upper Sandusky, died at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 1998, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
He was born in Salyersville, Ky., June 13, 1931, to the Rev. Carlos and Elma May (Barnett) Dyer. His mother survives in Vanlue. His wife, Evelyn (Lobdell) Dyer, whom he married
March 31, 1951, survives.
Other survivors include: seven children, William P. Dyer II of Delaware, Ohio, Joan Y. Salyer of Upper Sandusky, Douglas F. Dyer of Columbus, Gregory P. Dyer of Forest, Derrick A. and Ed N. Dyer, both of Upper Sandusky, and Darrin A. Dyer of Kirby; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Carl Jr. Dyer of Sycamore, Maudie Foulk of Findlay, Bob Dyer of Clear Water, Fla., Ruth Rose of Vanlue, Jerry Dyer of Illinois, Sam Dyer of McCutchenville and Etta Jo Dyer.
Mr. Dyer, a member of the Church of God of Prophecy of Vanlue, retired from the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army and National Guard.
He also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Findlay, Bowling Green VFW and Columbus American Legion.
Graveside services with the Rev. Mark Bishop officiating, were Monday in Spring Grove cemetery, Carey, with military honors.
There was no visitation. The Beach Funeral Home of Carey was in charge of arrangements.

Wilbur 'Woody' Hamilton
National Machinery retiree
Wilbur "Woody" Hamilton, 80, of 15 N. Marion St., Bloomville, died Monday morning, April 13, 1998, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, following an illness of several months.
He was born March 10, 1918, in Willard, to Don C. and Zola (Fast) Hamilton. On Dec. 29, 1945, in Bloomville, he married
Alice Hackenburg. She survives.
Survivors also include: a son, David W. Hamilton of Bloomville; twograndchildren and a great-grandson; three brothers, Carl Hamilton of Westlake, Harrison Hamilton of Huron and Lester Hamilton of Attica; and three sisters, Mrs. Alice De Muth of Toledo, Mrs. Harold (Marjorie) Altheer of Napoleon and Mrs. Harold (Donna) Heibertshausen of Attica.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Hamilton; and two brothers, Wayland and Russell Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, worked in the smallheader assembly department at the National Machinery Co., Tiffin, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of Bloomville United Church of Christ, Caulfield American Legion Post 434 of Bloomville, Eden Lodge 310 Free and Accepted Masons, Bloomville; Royal Arch Masons, Seneca Chapter 42, Clinton Council 47, De Molay Commandery 9 of Tiffin; Luella Chapter 223 Order of Eastern Star, Bloomville; the National Quarter Century Club and Croghan Aerie 712 Eagles of Fremont.
Services in Bloomville United Church of Christ, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Diane Grohmann officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Bloomville, where Caulfield Post 434 will conduct military graveside services.
Visitation at the new Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, where Quarter Century Club members will visit at 7 p.m. and the Caulfield Post visitation will be 7:15 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the church.

Ralph R. Miller, 71, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at his residence at 204 First Ave. Arrangements are pending at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.
Malcolm Doyle 'Pete' Drown

Malcolm Doyle "Pete" Drown, 81, of 400 S. Buchanon, Fremont, died in the Toledo Hospital, Wednesday, April 29, 1998.
He was born in Ballville Township, Dec. 27, 1916, to Enos and Zula (Sheidler) Drown. On Jan. 19, 1937, in Old Fort, he married
Margaret Gillmor. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dennis of Walbridge and Stephen of Port Clinton; two daughters, Donna Shoemaker of Fremont and Shirley Oliver of Hackleburg, Ala.; two sisters, Betty Braley of Fremont and Phyllis Ward of Green Springs; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Elsie Joseph, preceded him in death.
Mr. Drown, a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge, both in Fremont, retired in 1974 from Matlack Co., Toledo.
Services in Memorial United Methodist Churchwill be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Joan Moore officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
Visitation at the Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home, Fremont, will be 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Mary Heller
Centenarian/former Tiffin resident
Mary Heller, 104, formerly of Tiffin, died Friday, April 24, 1998.
She was born Dec. 15, 1893, in Melmore and was educated in Tiffin, before moving to Green Springs in 1915.
Green Springs United Methodist Church, 117 N. Broadway (SR 19), will conduct memorial services, open to the public, at 7 p.m. Friday.

Mark Andrew Kuenzli
Timken Co. employee/horse trainer
Mark Andrew Kuenzli, 37, of Bucyrus, was found dead Tuesday, April 28, at Outhwaite Reservoir, Bucyrus, following an apparent drowning April 8, 1998, during a fishing outing.
He was born Feb. 23, 1961, in Upper Sandusky, to Glenn A. and Linda S. Baldridge Kuenzli. His father and step-mother Jana, survives in Nevada and his mother survives in Houston, Texas.
Survivors also include: his fiance, Elaine (Kim) Kaple of Bucyrus; a son and daughter, Andrew Jacob and Amanda Sue; and a sister, Pamela Jones of Gilmer, Texas.
A 1979 graduate of Wynford High School, Mr. Kuenzli worked at Timken Company in Bucyrus for the past 10 years and also trained and drove standard-bred race horses in Bucyrus.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of Emmanuel United Church ofChrist, rural Upper Sandusky; the United States Trotting Association and the Ohio Harness Horseman.
The Rev. Lon McSherley will conduct the 1:30 p.m. Saturday service in the Lucas Funeral Home, Nevada. Burial will be in Nevada cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Scholastic Fund for the Kuenzli children, Andrew and Amanda.

Barbara L. Hunter, 70, of Findlay, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. Arrangements are pending at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria Chapel.
Heather Doe

Heather Doe, 38, of 125 Taft Blvd., Fostoria, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 1998, at 626 Broadway, Fostoria.
She was born Sept. 12, 1959, in Fostoria, to Lloyd R. and Joyce E. (Wolfelt) Doe. They survive in Fostoria. She had been married
to Kenneth Duran and they were divorced.
Other survivors include: a son, Ian M. Duran of Findlay; three daughters, Kendra J. Fruth, Brittney R. Duran and Baili L. Bostwick, all of Fostoria; two brothers, Todd E. Doe of Fostoria and Tadley S.J. Doe of Bettsville; two sisters, Mrs. Mark (Londa) Bautaw of Columbus, Ind., and Mrs. Brad (Shavonne "Jane") Davis of Fostoria; and two grandchildren.
Ms. Doe, a homemaker, also had been employed as an assembler at Lamson and Sessions in Bowling Green. She enjoyed woodworking, gardening and helping others.
Services in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria Chapel, will be 10 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Georgene J. Slagle officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.
Visitation at the funeral home is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today.

Dwight M. Hazeltine

Dwight M. Hazeltine, 90, of 725 Columbus Ave., Fostoria, died in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria, at 3:08 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 1998.
He was born in Beloit, Wis., Oct. 12, 1907, the son of Silas and Iva (Stebbins) Hazeltine. His wife, Ruth N. (Nelson) Hazeltine, whom he married
Feb. 22, 1930, in Chicago, Ill, died March 27, 1990.
Surviving are a son, Nelson B. Hazeltine of Chapin, S.C.; two granddaughters, Kara Nurrenbrock and Karis Mott; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert B. Hazeltine of Beloit.
Also preceding him in death were a son, Dwight M. Hazeltine Jr.; a brother, Claron S. Hazeltine; and two sisters, Dorothy Tipton and Violet Westby.
Mr. Hazeltine, the former owner of Buckeye Auto Parts in Fostoria for 39 years, retired in 1980.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria; Fostoria Exchangeclub, Rotary Club, Fostoria Chamber of Commerce, where he had served as past president and past finance chairman of the Fostoria YMCA.
He served on the committee to help start Fostoria United Way and also was a member of Free and Accepted Masons 288, Fostoria, Fostoria Shrine Club and the Fostoria Country Club.
Mr. Hazeltine served as chairman of the first Beautification Committee of Fostoria and as former director, president and chairman of the board of the Ohio Savings and Loan.
The Rev. Branson J. Hawkes will officiate at the 11 a.m. Saturday service in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria Chapel. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, where Masonic Lodge services will be at 7 p.m.

Una E. Lonsway

Una E. Lonsway, 76, 50 Sixth Ave., died at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 1998, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, where she had been a patient since April 12.
She was born in Attica, Seneca County, Dec. 1, 1921, to Charles H. and Emma C. (Laux) Mattmiller. On Aug. 15, 1940, in Tiffin, she married
Charles Lonsway. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Mark K. Lonsway of Hartsville; a daughter, Carolyn A. Devinney of Molene, Ill.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marie Geren of Tiffin and Lucille Logsdon of Cleveland.
A son, William A. "Bill" Lonsway, is deceased.
Mrs. Lonsway, a 1939 Columbian High School graduate, retired from the former General Electric Co. after 27 years of employment.
A member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, she liked to shell and knit and enjoyed flowers.
Services in the Turner-Engle Funeral Home will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be 6-9 p.m. Friday.
