Lloyd E. McClory
Whirlpool Corp. retiree

Lloyd E. McClory, 85, of West Seneca Street, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, in the Arbors of Clyde.

He was born in Watson Station, Seneca County, to William O. and Myrtle (Blodett) McClory. His wife, Evelyn (Rathbun) McClory, survives.

Survivors also include: a son, Gary E. McClory of Fremont; two grandchildren, a great-grandchild and a step-great-granddaughter.

Four brothers, Earl, Neal, Raymond and Carl McClory; and a sister, Bessie Cramer, preceded him in death.

Mr. McClory retired as a cabinet repairman in 1977 from Whirlpool Corp, Clyde, where he had been employed for 25 years.

A lifetime Tiffin area resident, he received his education in the Green Springs Schools and was a former member of the Clyde Eagles and the Moose Lodge.

Services in the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be in McPherson cemetery, Clyde.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 1 p.m. until time of the service at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the Arbors of Clyde.

James F. Reinhart
Retired carpenter

James F. Reinhart, 76, of Fostoria, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, in St. Catherine's Care Center of Fostoria. Arrangements are pending at the Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.

David Earl Darby
Father of Tiffin resident

David Earl Darby, 71, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at his residence at 1079 Wilson Ave., Marion.

He was born in Tampa, Fla., Feb. 26, 1927, to Earl W. and Norine (Barb) Darby. On Feb. 26, 1949, in Bellevue, he married Josephine L. Mitchell. Shesurvives.

Other survivors include: a son, Stephen Darby of Tiffin; two daughters, Sandra Darby of Gahanna and Cynthia Darby of Columbus; two grandchildren; and several cousins and an uncle.

Mr. Darby, a 1944 graduate of Lakewood High School, attended Foundry Practice Trade School 1951-53, took management development courses level I, II and III at Wittenberg College and was a management development sponsor for the National Council of Industrial Management Clubs.

A U.S. Navy veteran 1944-48, he was employed as superintendent of the Foundry Division of Galion Iron Works, the Tiffin Foundry and Rim Rock, Columbus.

In 1976 he moved to Marion and was instrumental in founding the Foundry Division of Semco Inc., which he served as foundry manager and vice president until his retirement in 1989, then served as its consultant.

He also was a member of the American Foundry Society.

Mr. Darby donated his body to the Ohio State University, Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy, Columbus.

There will be no service or visitation. The Denzer Farison Hottinger Funeral Home, Marion, is in charge of arrangements.

Abner C. May
Union Carbide retiree

Abner C. May, 79, of 8904 High St., McCutchenville, died at his residence at 2:43 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998.

He was born in Morgan County, Ky., March 21, 1919, to Reuben W. and Nannie (Dykes) May. His wife, Ruby Anita (Caudill) May, whom he married June 21, 1940, in Newport, Ky., survives.

Survivors also include: two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Wanda) McDermott of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Donald (Peggy) Secoy of Upper Sandusky; four sons, Leonard May of Upper Sandusky, Darrell May of Bucyrus, Larry May of Sycamore and Carlos May of Upland, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Phipps of Hazel Green, Ky.

Preceding him in death were a son, Harold May; a grandson, Jesse; five sisters, Mary E., Dolan, Francis, Nola and Alta; and four brothers, Elza, Hager, Ernest and Elmer.

Mr. May retired in 1981 as a machinist from Union Carbide in Fostoria, after 31 years of employment.

He was a 46-year member of the Pieratt Masonic Lodge 725, Lee City, Ky., and served three years in the Civil Conservation Corps.

The Rev. Brent Layne will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the First Freewill Baptist Church, Carey. Interment will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin.

Visitation at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, will be 2-9 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic services will be at 8:45.

Memorials may be made to Wyandot County Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.

Everett H. Meade
Retired auto mechanic

Everett H. Meade, 58, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at his home at 8499 E. TR 178, Green Springs.

He was born June 18, 1940, in Pike County, Ky., to W. Lawrence and Nineveth (Adkins) Meade. His mother survives in rural Green Springs. He was divorced.

Also surviving are an 18-year-old son, Ryan Meade of Idaho; a stepson, Russell Edgerton, also of Idaho; four brothers, Jack R., Kenny W. and Gary L. Meade, all of the Green Springs area, and Charles H. Meade of New London; and five sisters, Mrs. Jack (Ellen) Cain of Live Oak, Fla., Mrs. Phil (Jo Ann) Stiltner and Mrs. Ron (Mag) Caster, both of rural Green Springs, Sylvia Meade of Findlay and Mrs. Roger (Evelyn) Estep of rural Republic.

His father and a stepson, Lawrence Edgerton, are deceased.

A retired auto mechanic, Mr. Meade served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army.

He had resided in the Green Springs area since 1952.

Services in the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs will be at noon Saturday, with the Rev. Charles H. Meade officiating. Burial will be in Butternut Ridge cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-5 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until time of the service Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Mary E. Lynch
Former Tiffin resident

Mary E. Lynch, 52, of 574 S. Walnut St., Bucyrus, died at 8:32 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Dec. 13 in Tiffin.

Born Feb. 7, 1946, in Weston, W.Va., to Robert and Pauline (Nutter) Heater, she married Richard Lynch June 3, 1967. He survives. Her mother also survives in Tiffin.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Rhonda Lynch of Columbus and Mrs. Aaron (Kim) Blackburn of Bucyrus; a son, Ronald Lynch of Toledo; two grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Heater of Fostoria and Charles Heater of Ft. Collins, Colo.; a sister, Susan Lawrence of Tiffin; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Her father preceded her in death.

A 1965 graduate of Columbian High School, Mrs. Lynch worked at the Bucyrus Telegraph-Forum for several years, cleaned homes for many area families and helped care for her grandchildren.

She also graduated from the Georgianne Beauty Academy in Tiffin (now the Tiffin Academy of Hair Design) and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Bucyrus.

Mrs. Lynch moved from the Tiffin area in 1972.

The Rev. Dr. Ray LaSalle will officiate at the 11 a.m. Thursday service in the First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Liberty cemetery, near Bettsville.

Visitation will be after noon Wednesday at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus, where the family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the church, in care of the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, 215 N. Walnut, Bucyrus, OH.

Marvin Barney
Webster Mfg. retiree

Marvin Barney, 64, of 1635 E. CR 51, Green Springs, died at 7:35 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, in Fremont Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Nov. 13.

He was born in Seneca County, March 16, 1934, to the late Paul H. and Vernice (Rhoads) Barney. His wife of 41 years, Mary (Zimmerman) Barney, whom he married Dec. 7, 1957, in the Church of Christ, Butler, Ind., survives.

Other survivors include: five daughters, Mrs. Dale (Rosemary) McSwain of Green Springs, Mrs. Michael (April) Workman of Florida, Mrs. Edward (Marilyn) Bryant, also of Green Springs and Mrs. Kevin (Cheryl) Murphy and Mrs. Bill (Linda) Graham, both of Tiffin; 16 grandchildren and a great-grandchild; a brother, Ernest Barney of Bettsville; and two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Jean) Gibbs of Old Fort and Mrs. Jim (Marilyn) Ballard of North Carolina.

A son, Charles E. Martz; and a brother, Junior Barney, are deceased.

Mr. Barney, a life-long Green Springs area resident, retired from Webster Mfg. Company after 26 years of employment.

Services in the Engle-Young Funeral Home of Green Springs will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, with The Rev. Juanita Magers officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Union cemetery, Old Fort.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Glenna Loretta Meyer
Former Myer Drugs co-owner

Glenna Loretta Meyer, 85, died at 5:10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at her home at 37 Glenview Terrace.

She was born Jan. 31, 1913, in Chatfield, to Albert and Mary (Green) Shafer. On June 16, 1936, in Chatfield, she married Walter H. Meyer. He preceded her in death Jan. 31, 1975.

Surviving are two sons, Robert W. and Gerald D. Meyer, both of Tiffin; a brother, Luther Shafer of Chatfield; a sister, Florice Cohagen of Columbus; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death was a sister, Lodana.

A graduate of Chatfield High School and the Ohio Northern University, Mrs. Meyer was co-owner of Meyer Drugs from its opening in October 1937 until closing in 1975. She also was employed as an elementary teacher for three years in the Lykens School.

She was a member of Tiffin Chapter 189 Order Eastern Star, Tiffin Women's Club, where she served as past president; Lakeside Federation Women's Club, where she also served as past president; Altrusa Club, P.E.O. of Findlay, Tiffin-Seneca Historical Society and Tiffin Garden Club.

Also a member of the First Lutheran Church, its First Lutheran Church Women, the Fidelis Club and a choir member, she served as the grand marshal of the 1986 Tiffin Historical parade.

The Rev. John S. Ferne will be the officiant at the 11 a.m. Saturday memorial service in the First Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Greenlawn cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the church, Greenlawn cemetery, Community Hospice Care or the donor's choice.

Theresa A. Mazzaferro
Retired teacher

Theresa A. Mazzaferro, 87, of 182 St. Francis Ave., died at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in St. Francis Home.

Born in Indianapolis, Ind., March 13, 1911, to Leonard and Lauretta (Julian) Bagnoli, she married Nick Mazzaferro July 1, 1939, in Indianapolis. He died Feb. 5, 1987.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. G. Thomas (Patricia) Moore of Circleville and Mrs. Gene E. (Phyllis) Allebach of Tiffin; and three grandchildren, Michael T. Moore of Circleville, Ryan E. Moore of Clarksville, Tenn. and Mrs. Mary Theresa Campbell of Reynoldsburg.

A brother, Michael Bagnoli; and two sisters, Betty Lorey and Marie Bagnoli, also are deceased.

Mrs. Mazzaferro, a 1929 graduate of Shortridge High School of Indianapolis and a 1933 graduate of Butler University, taught fourth grade 1953-72, in both College Hill and Krout Elementary Schools in Tiffin.

A Mercy Hospital volunteer as a Red Cross Nurses' Aid and Tellecare and a box office volunteer at the Ritz Theatre, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was active in the Rosary-Altar Society and the Legion of Mary.

She also was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha national social sorority, the American Association of University Women, Seneca County Retired Teacher's Association, Ohio Retired Teacher's Association and the American Association of Retired Persons.

A funeral Mass in St. Joseph Catholic Church will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. James K. Say as celebrant. The Rosary will be recited at the church at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday. Private burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.

There will be no visitation. The Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Building Maintenance Fund of St. Joseph and St. Mary Churches or a charity of the donor's choice.

Malta Caudill
Rural Carey homemaker

Malta Caudill, 87, of 15698 CH 4, Carey, died at her residence at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998.

She was born in Johnson County, Ky., Jan. 18, 1911, to Joseph and Ada (Conley) Click. On March 21, 1930, in Swamp Branch, Ky., she married Estill Caudill, who preceded her in death Dec. 24, 1983.

Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. Eula Mae Perkins of rural Wharton, Mrs. Walter (Mildred) Welly and Mrs. John (Norma Jean) Miller, both of Carey; two sons, Dwight and Ernest Lee Caudill, both of Carey; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Murel Click of Paintsville, Ky.; and five sisters, Maxie Caudill and Neva Jo Blanten, both of Swamp Branch, Okie Conley of Carey, Rushie Spears of Mill Creek, Ky., and Mary Ramey of Shelby.

Five brothers also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Caudill, a homemaker, was a member of Riceville Freewill Baptist Church, Riceville, Ky., and attended the First Freewill Baptist Church in Carey.

The Rev. Brent Layne and the Rev. Harry Meade will be the co-officiants at the 1 p.m. Wednesday service in the First Freewill Baptist Church, Carey. Interment will be in Zion Bloom cemetery, Vanlue.

Visitation at the Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, is 2-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to Dorcas Carey Public Library.

Lewis Joseph Gabel
Gabel Construction Co. owner

Lewis Joseph Gabel, 67, of 1989 CR 41, Fremont, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, in the Emergency Room of Fremont Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 21, 1931, in Fremont, to the late Roman Sr. and Ognet (Babione) Gabel. His wife, Norma (Kramer) Gabel, whom he married Oct. 25, 1952, in St. Joseph Church, Fremont, survives.

Survivors also include: two sons, Jeffery J. and Jerry A. Gabel, both of Fremont; three daughters, Janette A. Tahy of Fremont and Jeanine M. Beeker and Juliana L. Hoffman, both of Helena; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Roman Jr. and Dave Gabel, both of Fremont; and a sister, Roseann Wagner, also of Fremont.

A grandson; and a sister, Delene Gabel, also are deceased.

Mr. Gabel, the owner of Gabel Construction Co. Inc., was the developer of Westwood Subdivision, Sandy Ridge and currently Countryview Estates.

A car hobbiest, owning a 1963 white Cadillac, he was a member of St. Casimirs Catholic Church, the American Legion, Eagles, Moose and Knights of Columbus.

A funeral mass was Dec. 12 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont, with burial in the parish cemetery.

Visitation was Dec. 11 at the Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home, Fremont.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the church.
