Robert DeCamp
Self-employed farmer

Robert DeCamp, 87, of 725 Columbus Ave., Fostoria, died in Fostoria Community Hospital at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 1998.

He was born in Wilmington, Ohio, Dec. 25, 1910, to Espey F. and Addie (Storer) DeCamp. His wife, Mary E. (Marks) DeCamp, died Oct. 30, 1997.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Leonard and William DeCamp; a sister, Pearl Rathburn; and a half-sister, Ethel George.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, Mr. DeCamp was a self-employed farmer and had attended the Fostoria Baptist Church.

Services in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria Chapel, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. David P. Chapman officiating. Interment will be in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

John J. "Jack" Zoll
Prudential Ins. Co. retiree

Former Tiffin resident, John J. "Jack" Zoll, 65, of 2501 Oakmont Drive, Findlay, died at 2:08 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 1998, in Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Tiffin, to the late Sylvester J. "Skip" and Mary Virginia (Kuhn) Zoll. On Nov. 27, 1958, he married Margaret "Peggy" Funkhouser, and she survives.

Survivors also include: eight children, John L. Zoll of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. William (Terri) Werling, Mrs. Anthony (Cindy) Lahey, Mrs. Richard (Cathy) Hachey, Mrs. Scott (Anne) Humm, Mary Zoll (the future Mrs. Dean Martin), and Stephen J. Zoll, all of Findlay, and Jackie Zoll of Hawaii; 29 grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Leo (Betty) Smith and Mrs. Eugene (Mary Lou) Hohman, both of Tiffin and Carolyn Sue "Susie" Lindsay of San Antonio, Texas.

Mr. Zoll, a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War, retired after 25 years of employment with the Prudential Insurance Company at both the Tififn and Findlay offices. He formerly worked at the National Machinery and Klopp Plumbing and Heating, both in Tiffin.

Known to the St. Michael Community as Deacon Zak, he was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, where he served as a deacon; the Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus Council 957, all of Findlay.

A Certified Life Underwriter, he also was a member of the Leadership Round Table with Predential.

A Mass of Christial Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael Catholic Church, downtown Findlay, with the Rev. Martin Nassr as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic cemetery.

Visitation at the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, Findlay, will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday with the Rosary recited at 8:45 p.m. and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, where a Vigil service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Hancock County Division, Fifth/Third Bank of NW Ohio, PO Box 748, Findlay, Ohio 45839, the Greater NW Ohio Diabetes Association, 200 W. Pearl St., Findlay, Ohio 45840 or the donor's choice.

Randal R. Wagner Jr.
Retired Fostoria IGA meatcutter

Randal R. Wagner Jr., 73, of 203 Seneca Ave., Fostoria, died in Fostoria Community Hospital 9 a.m. Sunday, May 10, 1998.

He was born in Dupont, Ohio, Sept. 12, 1924, to Randal R. Wagner and Eunice (Gattshall) Wagner-Smith. His wife, Cletus Y. (Winkle) Wagner, whom he married June 13, 1946, in Continental, survives in Fostoria.

Other survivors include: a son, Steve C. Wagner of Fostoria; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Linda) Baldauf of Lima; two grandsons; and two brothers, Verlin "Tony" Wagner of Bloomdale and Richard A. Wagner of Cridersville.

A brother, Don Wagner, is deceased.

Mr. Wagner was the former owner of Wagner Market in Dupont for 13 years then worked as a meatcutter with Wagner IGA in Fostoria for 31 years.

A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was a former member of Dupont United Methodist Church, a former school bus driver for Continental Schools, and a member of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio Lodge 570, Continental, the Continental Chapter 129 Order Eastern Star and Wesley United Methodist Church, Fostoria.

Services in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria Chapel, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Branson J. Hawkes of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Fairview cemetery, Dupont, where graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Terry Porter of Dupont Brethern Church and military graveside rites will be conducted by the Continental American Legion Post.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 900 Van Buren St., Fostoria, Ohio 44830.

Joseph R. 'Joe' Kuhn
Tiffin native

Joseph R. "Joe" Kuhn, 79, of Toledo, died Saturday evening, May 9, 1998, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Tiffin, to John and Cecelia (Hartsock) Kuhn. On Jan. 25, 1947, he married his wife of 51 years, June E. (Unger) Kuhn. She survives.

Survivors also include: a son, Thomas J. Kuhn; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Linda S.) Pitzen; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were: a sister, Virginia Zoll, and three brothers, Edward, Robert and James Kuhn.

Mr. Kuhn, a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in both the Pacific and Atlantic 1940-46, at one time had worked at a forest fire lookout in Bozeman, Mont.

Following the war, he became a greenskeeper at the Toledo Country Club, and was named golf course superintendent in 1951 and remained in that position until his retirement in 1984. Following his retirement, he worked at various golf courses including South Toledo, Heatherdowns and the Toledo Country Club.

He served as past president of the Northwest Ohio Golf Course Superintendent Association and was a member of the Maumee Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Maumee Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 760 N. McCord Road, Toledo.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Maison-Dardenne Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee.

Memorials may be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, Brooklyn, N.Y., or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Joeula Hunter
Tiffin resident

Joeula Hunter, 76, died at 6:13 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 1998, in Autumnwood Care Center, where she resided. Arrangements are pending at the Turner-Engle Funeral Home.

Sister Gregory Bechtel
Sister of St. Francis

Sister Gregory Bechtel, 76, of the Sisters of St. Francis, originally from the New Washington area, died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 1998, in St. Francis Convent, Tiffin. Arrangements are pending at the Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home.

Vince Joshia Wheeler
Infant son

Vince Joshia Wheeler, 13 days, of Beier Drive, Fostoria, died at 11:50 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 1998, at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.

He was born April 24, 1998, in Findlay, to Pamela (Lorah) Wheeler of Fostoria, who survives.

Also surviving are: a brother, Douglas Wheeler of Wooster; a sister, Tiffany Wheeler of Tiffin; and his maternal grandfather, Charles Lorah of Fostoria.

The Rev. David A. Bliss of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arcadia, will officiate at graveside services at 10 a.m. Monday at Memory Gardens in Arcadia, Ohio.

There is no visitation. The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Dale W. Frey
Resident of Clyde

Dale W. Frey, 76, of Liberty Street, Clyde, died Friday, May 8, 1998, in Firelands Hospital, Sandusky.

Born Aug. 9, 1921, in Fremont to the late Walter and Mary (Herr) Frey, he married Mary D. Morrison June 3, 1944. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Eric Frey of Clyde; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Marion) Bower and Mrs. Joseph (Darlene) Wojdyla, both of Fremont; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five brothers, Charles Frey of Quito, Ecuador, and Ray, Albert, Darl and Harold Frey, all of Fremont; and two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Juanita) Forman and Mrs. Eileen Frazier, both of Fremont.

Preceding him in death were two sons, Walter and Donnie Frey, and a sister, Mable Cherry.

Mr. Frey was employed as a laborer at Heinz, retiring in 1984. He attended Clyde schools. Having served in the U.S. Army during World War II, European Theater, he was a lifetime member of the Fremont VFW and belonged to the Clyde Eagles.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, with the Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, with graveside services provided by Clyde VFW.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.

Blanche E. Tiell
Rossford resident

Blanche E. Tiell, 80, of 91 Rossway Drive, Rossford, Ohio, died at 4:55 p.m. Friday, May 8, 1998, in St. Charles Hospital, Toledo. Arrangements are pending at Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey.

Charles H. Peter
Former Fostoria resident

Charles H. Peter, 79, of 12050 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, died at 5 a.m. Friday, May 8, 1998, in Lodge Care Center, Cincinnati. He was a former resident of Fostoria.

He was born July 29, 1918, in Canada, to Earl and Clara (Hakes) Peter, who are deceased. His spouse, Dorothy E. (Gossard) Peter, whom he married Oct. 31, 1940, in Fostoria, survives.

Other survivors are: a son, Daniel Peter of Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Diane E.Smile of Cincinnati; three grandchildren; a brother, Lowell J. Peter of Fostoria; and a sister, Lois Bentz, also of Fostoria.

An Army veteran, Mr. Peter was a retired switchman for the C&O Railroad and a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arcadia.

The Rev. David Bliss will conduct services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria. Burial will be in Fountain cemetery in Fostoria.

Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday and 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Mann-Hare Funeral Home, Fostoria.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 18974 SR 12, Arcadia, OH.

Marie I. Eigel
Homemaker

Marie I. Eigel, 82, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 1998, at her residence at 781 S. TR 159.

She was born in Tell City, Ind., April 1, 1916, to Edward and Margaret (DuPont) Thiery. On Sept. 6, 1932, in St. Augustine Church, Leopold, Ind., she married Andrew J. Eigel. He preceded her in death April 24, 1987.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Jean) Dunn of Sycamore and Mrs. George (Shirley) Mattson of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Mildred Macielewicz, four sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren.

A homemaker, Mrs. Eigel was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The Rev. William Rose will be the celebrant at the 10 a.m. Saturday funeral Mass in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery.

Visitation at Hoffmann-Gottfried Memorial Funeral Home is 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care or a charity of the donor's choice.

Lulu Freeman
Fostoria homemaker

Lulu Freeman, 96, died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 1998, in St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria, where she resided.

She was born April 29, 1902, in Front Royal, Va., the daughter of Cornellius and Cora (Figgins) Robinson. Her husband, Harry M. Freeman, whom she married Sept. 30, 1922, in Front Royal, died Aug. 12, 1959.

Survivors include a son, Lenny Freeman of Fostoria, and two grandchildren.

A daughter, Marie Dutcher, is deceased.

Mrs. Freeman was a homemaker.

Graveside services in Fountain cemetery, Fostoria, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Donald R. Goodwin officiating.

There will be no visitation. The Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, is in charge of arrangements.

Donald E. Weisenauer
Farmer/Hayes-Albion employee

Donald E. Weisenauer, age 76, of Port Clinton, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, following a sudden illness.

He was born April 5, 1922, in Lykens, to Charles and Lalah (Whitmeyer) Weisenauer. He married Virginia L. Smith. She died in 1969. He then married Ruth Anne Neumann on March 10, 1979, in Port Clinton. She survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Mark D. Weisenauer of Attica; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Ross of Bloomville; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were a son, Michael P. Weisenauer; and a brother, Charles Weisenauer Jr.

Mr. Weisenauer was a farmer and a machine operator at Hayes-Albion in Tiffin, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Clinton and the church council. He also was a member of Oliver Perry Lodge 341 F&AM in Port Clinton and the Ottawa County Democratic Central Committee. Mr. Weisenauer was a World War II Army-Air Force veteran.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, Bloomville.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Attica. The Rev. Newell Nelson and the Rev. Carla Knobler will officiate. Burial and military graveside services will be at Attica-Venice cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the church or to the American Heart Association.

Nellie G. Laglia
Homemaker/former cook

Nellie G. Laglia, 76, formerly of Mt. Blanchard, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 1998, in Winebrenner Village, Findlay, where she had resided the past year and a half.

She was born in Hancock County, Jan. 19, 1922, to Elmer R. and Carrie E. (Lee) Oman. On Oct. 6, 1945, in the Navy Chapel Catholic Church, Key West, Fla., she married Domenic "Don" Laglia. He died May 15, 1992.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William C. (Carla) Esely of McIntosh, N.M.; and two grandsons.

Two brothers, Byron W. and George W. Oman, are deceased.

Mrs. Laglia, a homemaker, also worked as a cook at several restaurants in Findlay.

A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Waves, she was a member of American Legion Post 3, Findlay, where she was the first female post commander; and a life member of American Legion Post 344 Carey, AMVETS Post 21 Findlay, DAV Chapter 8 Clyde and the National Rifle Association.

She also was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 624 in Arlington, where she was a former president, the Women's Memorial 222768, where she was a charter member, the Fleet Resserve 044810 and the Methodist faith.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Lee cemetery, near Vanlue, with the Rev. James R. Sharrett officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 344, Carey.

The Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Nellie Laglia Memorial Fund.
