Mary L. (Miller) Koebel
Mother of Bettsville resident

Mary L. (Miller) Koebel, 78, formerly of Justice Street, Fremont, diedWednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, in the Countryside Continuing Care Center, where she had resided for the past eight years.

She was born in Fremont, Aug. 16, 1919, to Carl E. and Hedwig (Chudzinski) Miller.

Surviving are two sons, Carl Koebel of Port Clinton and Michael Koebel of Fremont; three daughters, Carol Biehler and Lynn Walker, both of Fremont and Betty Jo Wohlgamuth of Bettsville; a brother, Robert P. Miller of Fostoria; two sisters, Rita and Helen Miller, both of Fremont; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Five brothers, Urban, Norbert, Bernard, Carl and Richard "Bill" Miller; and five sisters, Margaret Eck, Josephine Althausen, Anna Rose Greive, Norma Scott and Betty Snyder, are deceased.

Mrs. Koebel, who attended St. Joseph High School, Fremont, had been employed as a clerk in the credit department at Montgomery Wards for many years. She also worked at Warner Parts and Detroit Gasket, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of VFW Post 2947 Ladies Auxiliary and the Sacred Heart Rosary Altar Society.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mark Herzog officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph cemetery, Fremont.

Visitation at the Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home, Fremont, will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Pauline K. Kaufman
Upper Sandusky homemaker

Pauline K. Kaufman, 81, of Kroger Drive, Upper Sandusky, died at her home Wednesday morning, Aug. 12, 1998.

She was born June 23, 1917, in West Independence, to William and Ellen (Chilcoat) Hainen. On May 24, 1947, in Fostoria, she married Paul D. Kaufman. He died Aug. 19, 1995.

Survivors include: two daughters, Carol S. Roszman and Judy Kaufman, both of Upper Sandusky; and three grandchildren.

Her sister, Veda E. Bell, also is deceased.

A homemaker, Mrs. Kaufman was a member of the West Independence United Methodist Church.

Services in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, with Pastor Jeff Raker officiating. Burial will be in Union cemetery, West Independence.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Yvonne Elizabeth Smith
Surgical nurse

Yvonne Elizabeth Smith, 42, of 610 S. 7th St., Upper Sandusky, died at 4:12 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, in the Montefiore Hospital at the University of Pittsburg, Pittsburg, Pa.

She was born in Wyandot County, Aug. 8, 1956, the daughter of the late Earl and Esther (Bradford) Smith.

Surviving are her partner Mary Jo Roeder; two children, Bradford T. and Alaina Y. Roeder; three brothers, Charles D. Smith of Carey and David E. and Daniel Smith, both of Upper Sandusky; and eight sisters, Mrs. Marcus (Rosa) Thiel of Kirby, Mrs. John (Evelyn) Swanberg of Virginia Beach, Va., Mrs. James (Mary Lou) Gamber of Grove City, Mrs. Carl (Shirley Ann) Swanberg of Lehigh Acres,Fla., Mrs. Michael (LaFern) Feuerstien of Columbus, Mrs. Niranjan (LaVern) Idgunji of Wilks-Barre, Pa., Mrs. Larry (Joy) Stager of Lima and Mrs. Justin (Laurel) Wagner, of Kirby.

A 1974 Upper Sandusky High School graduate, Ms. Smith had been employed at Wyandot Manor Nursing Home, Upper Sandusky, as an LPN.

She served six years in the U.S. Army at Fort Ord, Calif., where she earned her LPN license. In 1991 she graduated from the Ohio State University with a BA in nursing and was then employed at Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware, as a surgical nurse.

Ms. Smith was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, Delaware, Ohio and AMVETS 777, Upper Sandusky. She also enjoyed all sports especially Ohio State University football, the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49er's.

Chaplain Syd Schnaars will conduct the 11 a.m. Saturday service in the Bringman-Clark and Company Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. Private burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Upper Sandusky.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to the Yvonne Smith Memorial Fund for her family, in care of the Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, 226 E. Wyandot Ave., Box 246, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.

Anthony 'Tony' Schroeder
OCECO machinist

Anthony A. "Tony" Schroeder, 35, of West Street, Bascom, died at 10:26 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, as a result of an automobile accident on SR 18, west of Bascom.

He was born in Tiffin Feb. 14, 1963, to Harry A. and Mary E. (Rader) Schroeder. His mother survives in Fairfield, Calif. His companion, Dawn A. Snyder, survives in Bascom.

Survivors also include: a stepson and stepdaughter, Justen and Magen Snyder, both of Bascom; and three sisters, Ruth Ann Moyer of Tiffin, Mrs. Benjamin (Tamara) Schroeder-Garibay of Fairfield and Janice Raney of Fostoria.

His father is deceased.

A member of the Fostoria Shuffleboard League, Mr. Schroeder was employed as a machinist at OCECO in Tiffin.

Services in the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Russell Gumm officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, near Arcadia.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Cletus N. Kinn
Brother of Tiffin/Fostoria residents

Cletus N. Kinn, 82, of 718 Putnam St., Findlay, died at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998, in Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Findlay.

He was born Oct. 9, 1915, in Wyandot County, to Henry and Victoria (Pahl) Kinn. On Sept. 4, 1940, he married Rita M. Kimmet. She survives.

Other survivors include: seven sons, Donald H., James A. and Rick W. Kinn, all of Findlay, Charles N. Kinn of Martinsburg, W.Va., Michael E. Kinn of Frederick, Md., Cletus N. Kinn Jr. of McComb and David J. Kinn of Charlotte, N.C.; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Nancy L.) Weist of Daphne, Ala., Mrs. Patricia J. Hanneman of Fairborn, Mrs. Thomas (Virginia A.) Renninger of Findlay and Mrs. Robert (Theresa M.) Albers of Louisville, Ky.; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon Kinn of Fostoria and Norman Kinn of Tiffin; and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Smith of Findlay and Mrs. William (Rita) Reinhart of Fremont.

Preceding him in death were: five brothers, Raymond, Cyrille, Gerald, Edmund "Ted" and Herman Kinn; and two sisters, Mary Magdeline and Mary Catherine Kinn.

Mr. Kinn, a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Findlay, retired as a plant manager from the R.L. Kuss Co., Findlay.

He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Findlay, and the Holy Name Society.

The Rev. Martin Nassr will be the celebrant at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday funeral Mass in St. Michael Catholic Church, downtown Findlay. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, where a Scripture service will be at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Michael Catholic School Foundation.

Jean M. Shawberry
Former hobby shop employee

Jean M. Shawberry, 72, died Sunday morning, Aug. 9, 1998, at her residence at 206 Jefferson St., Republic, following a long illness.

She was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Fremont, to Charles and Mildred (Collier)Bollinger. On May 22, 1946, in Tiffin, she married Eugene Shawberry. He died July 9, 1998.

Surviving are two sons, Richard of Republic and Joe of Bloomville; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Deborah) Buckley of Republic; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and a brother, Robert Bollinger of Tiffin.

Also preceding her in death was a brother, Jack Bollinger.

Mrs. Shawberry, who enjoyed making different types of crafts, worked as a clerk for many years at the Tiffin Hobby Shop.

A former Girl Scout leader, she was a member of Republic United Church of Christ and the Wade Benfer American Legion Auxiliary Post 404, Republic.

Services in the new Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Jeff King officiating. Burial will be in Farewell Retreat cemetery, Republic.

Visitation at the funeral home will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care.

Cecil J. 'Jerry' Keegan Jr.
Whirlpool retiree

Cecil J. "Jerry" Keegan Jr., 64, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, at his residence on Spring Street, Green Springs.

He was born in Fremont, June 6, 1935, to the late Cecil J. Sr. and Leona (Schmitz) Keegan. On April 13, 1952, he married Alice Tiffany, and she survives.

Other survivors include: seven children, Randy Keegan, Mrs. Rick (Cindy) Turner, Mrs. Steve (Debbie) Messer, Steve, Tim, Scott and Shelly Keegan, all of Clyde; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Marilea) Smith of Clyde; and 13 grandchildren.

A sister, Gloria Ann Keegan, also is deceased.

Mr. Keegan, a 1953 graduate of Clyde High School, where he was a member of its 1954 State Track Championship team, had been employed as a tool and dye maker at Whirlpool Corp., retiring in 1992.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clyde and the Clyde Eagles. He served as a little league coach for many years.

Services in St. Mary's Catholic Church will be 11 a.m. Tuesday with Monsignor Edward Dunn officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

Visitation at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde, will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, where a Christian Wake service will be at 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Endowment Fund.

James Wilbur Shobe, Sr.
G.E. Community Relations Specialist

James Wilbur Shobe, Sr., 83, of 183 Tomb St., Tiffin, died at his home at 11:55 a.m., Thursday, August 6, 1998. He was born May 6, 1915, to James W. and Marguerite (Decker) Shobe in Delphos, Ohio. On April 25, 1942, he married Lois A. Barton in Willard, and she survives.

Other survivors include: a son, James Shobe, Jr. of Tiffin; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Hepperly of Findlay; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.

Mr. Shobe was a graduate of North Fairfield High School. He attended Heidelberg College, Valparaiso University in Indiana and Yale University. Mr. Shobe was a veteran of WW II in the U.S. Army Air Corp., a graduate of Officers Candidate School, a pilot, flight instructor and a 2nd Lieutenant. He spent more than 30 years as union and community relations specialist at General Electric in Tiffin, retiring in January 1980. Memberships included: 32nd Degree Mason; Zenobia Shrine; life member of D.A.V. 34; General Electric Quarter Century Club; and First Presbyterian Church.

The Rev. Richard Mahlmann will officiate the 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, graveside service at Seneca Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

There will be no visitation hours scheduled. Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Home Health Care; First Presbyterian Church; Senior Citizens Center; or a charity of the donor's choice.

Ann Louise Gruss
Homemaker

Ann Louise Gruss, 86, of 400 Coe St., Tiffin, died at 3:59 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 1998, at her home. She was born Dec. 15, 1911, to Clinton Andrew "Andy" and Lillian (Hergenrather) Smith in Tiffin. On Jan. 10, 1942, she married Earl A. Gruss in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. He died Aug. 25, 1993.

Surviving include: two sons, Jim Gruss of Aars, Denmark, and John Gruss of Earlysville, Va.; two daughters, Pat Gruss of Tiffin, and Mary Gruss of Olathe, Ks.; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Gruss was a graduate of St. Mary High School, Cincinnati. She also attended Mount St. Joseph College, Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a homemaker. Memberships included St. Joseph Church; the Rosary-Altar Society and the Cotillion Club. She also was active in the Republican party.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 1998, at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph cemetery.

Visitation hours are 5-8 p.m. today, at the Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home. The Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home, and also at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association; Arthritis Foundation; Community Hospice Care; or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Kenneth M. Will
Area resident

Kenneth M. Will, 64, of 8381 SR 53N, Upper Sandusky, died at 5:15 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 1998, at his home. He was born April 11, 1934, to Everett and Bernice (Krock) Will; both are deceased. On Dec. 27, 1955, he married Sue A. Grady, and she survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Kenneth E. Will and Gregory S. Will, bothof Delaware, Ohio, and Jerry A. Will of the U.S. Navy in Seattle, Washington; a daughter, Cynthia May of Bowling Green; two brothers, Ronald Will of Gainesville, Fla., and Mervin Will of Adrian, Ohio; four sisters, Miriam Wood of Sycamore, Madelon O'Neil of Nevada, Ohio, Deloris Wertman of Crimora, Va., and Barbara Darr of Rileyville, Va.; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Will retired in September 1997 as a tool and die maker at Mold Craft of Upper Sandusky. He also worked 24 years at Cobey Manufacturing of Bucyrus. Mr. Will was a founding member of the Wyandot Squares Western Style and Square Dance Club. An Upper Sandusky graduate of 1952, he served in the U.S. Army from 1957-62. Mr. Will was a member of the First Lutheran Church. He has requested that his body be donated to Ohio State University Department of Anatomical Studies.

The Rev. Charles Steward will officiate the 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, memorial service at the First Lutheran Church.

The family will receive friends 1/2 hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorials may be made to Wyandot County Hospice or donor's choice, c/o Bringman-Clark Funeral Home, 226 E. Wyandot Ave., Box 246, Upper Sandusky, OH. 43351.

Theresa L. (Summit) McKinley
Former Upper Sandusky resident

Theresa L. (Summit) McKinley, 35, of 13667 TR 179, Kenton, Ohio, died at 9:50 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 1998. She was born Nov. 3, 1962, in Upper Sandusky to Paul F. and Pat (Cox) Summit; both parents survive in Upper Sandusky. On Nov. 19, 1988, she married Roger D. McKinley, and he survies.

Other survivors include: a son, Matthew J. McKinley, at home; a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Beth) Kline of Upper Sandusky; maternal grandparents, Estel and Helen Crowder of Upper Sandusky; and paternal grandmother, Evelyn Summit of Upper Sandusky.

Mrs. McKinley graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1981. She attended Muskingum College for two years; in 1986 she received her B.S. in education from Taylor University in Upland, Ind., where she was named three-time All American in vollyball, basketball and softball. She attended the Community Christian Center, Upper Sandusky, where she was on the worship team and sang in the choir. Mrs. McKinley taught elementary education at the Ridgemont School for 11 years and at Kenton High School last year. She also was member of the M & M Mothers Club of Upper Sandusky.

The Pastor Bill Williamson will officiate the 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 10, 1998, service at the Community Christian Center, Upper Sandusky. Burial will be at Old Mission cemetery.

Visitation hours are 6-9 p.m. Saturday, 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation; Taylor University Volleyball Scholarship Fund or the Community Christian Center.

Ray P. Bordner
Self-employed carpenter

Ray P. Bordner, 77, of Monclova, died Thursday, August 6, 1998, in St. Luke's Hospital.

Survivors include: a daughter, Juanita Dayringer of Old Fort; two grandchildren, Ray (Eva) Dayringer of Fremont, and Christyne (Jim) Knisely of Bettsville; three sisters, Adah Barlett of Toledo, Jane Ford of Shelby, and Louise Drown Vladeff of Green Springs; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Loretta; four brothers; and twograndsons.

Mr. Bordner was a self-employed carpenter for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. His memberships included: Monclova United Methodist Church; Wakeman Lodge F & AM 522; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite - Valley of Toledo and the former American Legion Post 556, Monclova.

Friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne Funeral Home, Maumee, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be at Roth Memorial cemetery, Monclova.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Roger A. Johnson
Sycamore resident

Roger A. Johnson, 42, of 4570 C.H. 151, Sycamore, died at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 1998, at his home from natural causes. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore.
