KEITH W. SKINNER

Chesterhill - Keith Warren Skinner, age 68, of Chesterhill passed away late Thursday morning July 22,2004 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster. He was born in Logan, Ohio on June 30,1936, son of the late Clarence and Ozilla Schaal Skinner. He was retired from Columbia Gas as a Meter Technician where he had been employed for 36 years. A graduate of Union Furnace High School. Mr. Skinner attended Chesterhill Methodist Church and was a member of Mingo Lodge #171 F&AM, Logan York Rite Masonic Bodies, Chesterhill Lions Club, and a 25 years member of the Chesterhill Fire Department and Emergency Squad. He was former a member of the Ohio National Guard. He is survived by wife, Barbara Parsons Skinner; 2 daughters, Amy (James) Toki of Millersport and Molly (Rudiger) Baumgartel of Albany; five grandchildren; Matthew Skinner of Millersport, Cody Toki of Millersport, Courtney Toki of Millersport, Max Baumgartel of Albany, Olivia Baumgartel of Albany; a sister, Jene Ann (Charles) Roach of Roseville; and a brother; James (Mary) Skinner of Logan. Funeral services will be held Sunday 2:30PM in Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens, conducted by Pastor Robbie Scott and Pastor Connie Faires with burial in Oakgrove cemetery, Logan. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday 3-5 and 7-9 where District #13K Lions Club will hold memorial services Saturday evening at 8PM. Mabel E. Bell

Mabel E. Bell, 96, of Logan, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at Logan Health Care Center of Logan. She was born March 12, 1908, in Perry Co., daughter of the late William E. and Debbie Nutter Kitchen. She is preceded in death by her 1st husband Oliver Bell and her 2nd husband Myrl Bell. She was a member of the Logan Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by a daughter Eileen J. Ringhiser of Logan; three grandchildren, Doug (Supee) Ringhiser, Sandy Ringhiser and Janet (Kevin) Young; five great grandchildren, Mindy Davis, Amia Holdren, Ashley Young, Claire Young and Matthew Ringhiser; five great great grandchildren, Mydlynn Davis, Emily Davis, J-Lynn Holdren, Mia Holdren and Isiah Holdren. She is preceded in death by a brother, Roy Kitchen and a sister Thelma Householder. Funeral services will be held Friday 10 a.m., at the Logan Church of the Nazarene, with Doug Ringhiser and the Rev. Anne Amelia Fouty

Anne Amelia Fouty, 69, of Athens, passed away Friday, August 27th, 2004 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. She was born July 16th, 1935 in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late George and Edna (Windle) Arnold. She was married to Noah J. Fouty, who survives. She was a lifetime member of the VFW women’s auxiliary in The Plains, and a two time past president of the Emblem Club in Nelsonville She is survived by a daughter, Teresa Ann Fouty of Athens, a brother Charles R. Arnold of Nelsonville, two sisters, Elaine C. Savely of Nelsonville and Judy Sheppard of Port Clinton In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by two brothers, George “Jim” Arnold, Guy E. Arnold, two sisters, Ruth E. Ringhiser and Betty Ayers. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville with Rev. King Kelly officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn cemetery New Addition, Nelsonville. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Dorothy “Doris” Helena Roman

Dorothy “Doris” Helena Roman, 89, of Rocky River, formerly of Corning, passed away Friday, August 20, 2004 at Fairview General Hospital, Cleveland. She was born July 16, 1915 in Glouster, the daughter of the late John and Dominika (Trazska) Zglenicki. She was the widow of the late John Roman. Doris was a member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Rocky River and was an active member of the Rocky River Senior Center. When she lived in Corning, she was active in the St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church in Buchtel. She is survived two daughters, Dorothy D. Roman of Rocky River and Patricia (Denny) Roman Atkinson of Colorado Springs, CO; one grandson, Matthew Noel (Crystal) Atkinson of Manassas, VA; special niece and goddaughter, Carolyn (Jarvis) Sikora Gambrell; special nephew, James (Becky) Sikora, and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Zalenski, Jean Sikora and Gladys Zalenski. Funeral liturgy with mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 27, 2004 at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, Buchtel, with Father John Mucha officiating. Internment will be in St. Patrick cemetery, Buchtel. THOMAS JERRY BURDETTE

MILLFIELD - Thomas Jerry Burdette, 64, of Millfield went to heaven on Thursday August 19, 2004 at O‚Bleness Memorial Hospital. Born October 12, 1939 in Corning, was the son of the late Thomas E. and Maxine Ackison Burdette. He was a member of the Jacksonville VFW. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Grace Patterson Burdette; and two sons, William Burdette of the home, and Walter (Tressa) Burdette; five daughters, Nancy (Bob) Heller, Sharon (Rob) Thompson, Kristi (Walter) Carpenter, Sheryl (Brian) Kasler, and Lisa (Kevin) Newman; 16 grandchildren including Brittany Burdette who resided with him and 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Jim (Barb) Burdette. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Thomas E. Burdette; a daughter, Wilma Lee Burdette; and a sister, Nancy Jean Burdette. Edna McBride

ATHENS - Edna McBride, 71, of Athens, died Saturday morning at her home. Born September 7, 1932 in Chauncey, and was the daughter of the late Carl and Edith Sams Brown. She was a member of the South Athens Kingdom Hall of Jehovah‚s Witnesses. She is survived by her son, David McBride of Athens; two grandchildren, Sean McBride of The Plains and Rose McBride of The Plains; a brother, Earl Brown of Athens; and a sister, Dorothy (Dale) Channell of The Plains. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George (Nicky) McBride. Services will be Tuesday at 1 PM at, Athens, with James Frye officiating. Billie Whitlatch

The Plains - Billie L. Whitlatch, age 75 of The Plains went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004 at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus. He was born Dec. 21, 1928 in Nelsonville son of the late Harry Chesher and Dorothy Whitlatch Richardson and his step father Stanley Richardson. Mr. Whitlatch was a truck driver and route salesman for Kerr Distributing. He had also driven a school bus for the Athens City School System. He attended school in Nelsonville and was a member of The Plains United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Temple Shrine and Athens County Shrine Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years- Shirley McCloud Whitlatch; three daughters- Linda (Dick) Cooksey of Athens, Tammy (Bob) Newsom of The Plains, & Robin (J.R.) Fouty of New Plymouth; two sons- William (Jody) Whitlatch of Nelsonville & Dennis Scott Whitlatch of Albany; seventeen grandchildren- Derek, Ashley, Jordan, Jamie, Lacie, Daniel, Amanda, Nathan, Travis, Jeremy, Dirk, Heather, Dusty, Amber, Beth, Katie, and Tre; an expected great granddaughter Emilee Dawn Rutter; three sisters in law- Dorothy (George) McIntyre of Williamstown, WV, Ruth Baker of Detroit, MI, Judy Ross of Florida and a brother in law- Jack (Willie) McCloud of Goldsboro, NC; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; special friends- Jimmy Wallace, Gloria Whitlatch, Joseph Scurlock, Jack & Frances Perry; Kathy, Joe, Kyle and Nicole Essman. Sandra Wood

Sandra Sue 'Sandy' Wood, 53, of Nelsonville, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at her residence. She was born June 7, 1951 in Nelsonville, the daughter of June Fisk of Nelsonville and Junior Augustus Fisk. She was married to Kenneth Wood of Nelsonville. She is survived by two sons, Nathan Haynes and Gavin Haynes. She was preceded in death by a son Justin Haynes and two brothers, David and John Joseph Fisk. Billy J. Osborne

GUYSVILLE - Billy J. Osborne, 70, of Guysville, died August 17, 2004 at his home. Born June 22, 1934 in Marion, was the son of the late Lindley E. and Sarah Elizabeth Young Osborne. He retired from the City of Athens Service Department with 21 years of service and was a former employee of Gilkey Gulf Station. He was a lifetime member of the Redman Lodge and a former member of the Albany VFW and the Athens Moose Lodge. He is survived by five sons, Billy Jr. (Kelly), Michael E. (Tammy), Rodney R., Danny Z. (Tina), and Glenn E. (Rebecca); four daughters, Mary E. (Terry), Kimberly S. (Rick), Deborah L. (Dick) and Melissa A. (Scott); 27 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gladys Wagner, Hazel Sultan, and Inez Boring; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Mark A.; a grandson, Eric A. Llewellyn; two brothers, Herbert and Clifford; three sisters, Mildred Richardson, Margaruite Dice and Helen Kirkman. Services will be Saturday at 11 AM at . Burial will be in Alexander cemetery. Nelsonville - David Charles Watkins, age 19, of Nelsonville passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 11, 2004, near Athens as a result of an automobile accident. He was born November 6, 1984 in Athens and attended Nelsonville-York High School. He was employed at McDonald’s East, Athens. David is survived by his mother and step father- Catherine Thompson Roof and Paul Roof of Nelsonville; father and step mother- David Watkins and Dwana Watkins of Glouster; sister- Angela (Tom) Parsons of The Plains; step sister- Shandi Kincaid of Logan; two brothers- Donald Watkins and Dakota Watkins both of Glouster; maternal grandmother- Helen Thompson of Athens and paternal grandmother Garnet Gillispie of The Plains. He is preceded in death by maternal great grandparents Catherine and Vern Hunsucker. Athens - Judy M. Brooks, age 56, of Cleveland formerly of Vore Ridge Road, Athens, died Thursday, August 12, 2004 at her home. She was the daughter of Garland Holley of New Plymouth and the late Fern Stump Holley, born Sept. 29, 1947 in Nelsonville. Judy was a graduate of Zaleski High School and had been a resident of Cleveland for 35 years. She was a member of the Cleveland Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 37 years- Jesse “Jack” Brooks; a daughter- Tonya (Darren) Ernst of Garfield Heights; a son Scott Brooks of Cleveland; two grandchildren- Ryan & Samantha Ernst; two sisters- Evelyn (Richard) Sheets of Millfield, and Angie (Jon) Nilson of Albany; three brothers- Larry (Ella) Holley of Athens, Rodney (Rebecca) Holley of Athens, and Jeffrey (Sharon) Holley of New Plymouth; a sister in law Phyllis Holley of Athens and a special friend- Liz Mornar of Cleveland. Besides her mother she is preceded in death by three brothers- Danny, Randy, and James Garland Holley. Keith Douglas Davis, 41, of Logan, passed away Tuesday, August 10th, 2004 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan. He was born August 13th, 1962 in Athens the son of Jim and Diane Kieffer Davis of Nelsonville. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Barbara (Rob) Buongiorno of Connecticut and Lisa (Bill) Vinka of Westerville; a brother, Jonathan Davis of Nelsonville; maternal grandmother, Lillian Kieffer of Nelsonville and paternal grandparents, Harold (Eleanor) Davis of The Plains. John H. Parsley, 75, of Logan, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004, at Hocking Valley Community Hospital of Logan. He was born June 12, 1929, in Kermit, W.Va. John is preceded in death by his father‚s John H. Parsley and Ed Fitzpatrick, and his mother Mae Darnell Parsley Fitzpatrick. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Dillon Parsley of Logan. John was retired from Celanese Plastics after 35 years as a shipping clerk, was a member of the Logan Church of God, and as a young man, he was an active member/ coach of the Southern Independent Little League of Columbus and was a Logan Little League Baseball coach. John was a resident of Columbus for 28 years and a resident of Logan for 25 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Richard (Wanda) Parsley of Louisa, KY and John R. (Glenna) Parsley of Columbus; two daughters, Mary (Harold) Chaffin of Logan and Teresa D. (special friend Mike Odom) Hopper of Chauncey; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; four brothers; five sisters; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home 183 E. Second St. Logan. ATHENS - Letha Lucy Brickles, 91, of Athens, departed this life for her home in heaven, Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 at Russells Nursing Home. Born April 13, 1913 in Athens County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Clifford and Corda Ethel French Patrick. Letha and her late husband, Carl William Brickles attended the Athens Church of Christ for many years. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Tom) Crossen of Gallipolis, Carol A. Bethscheider of Athens; a son, James Carl (Sarah) Brickles of Athens; five grandchildren, Stephanie C. (Roger) Stover of Gallipolis, David Thomas Crossen of Lexington, David and Brian Bethscheider of Athens, Melissa (Ike) Weiss of Athens; three great grandchildren, Jennifer Stover (Philip) Bonzo of Columbus, Kristina Stover of Gallipolis, James David Crossen of Lexington; a great great granddaughter, Isabella Hope Bonzo of Columbus; two sisters, Mary Alice (Danny) Chiki of Navarre, Melissa Jean Hill of Melbourne, FL. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Lydia Lawson; a brother, Kenneth Clifford Patrick. She will be sadly missed by her family. Marguerite Locke Hall, 76, of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, August 8th, 2004 at Doctors Hospital in Nelsonville. She was born December 21st, 1927 in Haydenville, Ohio the daughter of the late Ervin (Sloppy) and Ida Mae (Sparks) Locke. She was married to the late Dick Hall. She was a member of the Nelsonville VFW Women’s Auxilliary, was an avid euchre player, and dearly loved her cats. She is survived by a son, Mark (Vickie) Hall of Nelsonville, two grandchildren, Mark (Betsy) Hall Jr., and Luke Hall, both of Nelsonville, a great grandchild, Ethan Christopher Hall of Nelsonville, and a sister, Patricia (Jack) Rogers of Orrville. In addition to her parents and husband, Marguerite was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Hall, and brother in law, Robert Pack. Ruth Louise (Finefrock) Morrison, 67, of Lancaster, passed away August 3, 2004, at Regency Manor Rehabilitation Center of Columbus. She was born August 13, 1936, in Columbus, daughter of the late Peter and Rozella Shreves Trott. She is preceded in death by her 1st husband Bernard Finefrock and her 2 nd husband Pat Morrison. Ruth was a member of the Church of Christ, Moose Lodge #434 and Eagles Lodge #2168. She is survived by three sons, Lewis Finefrock of Junction City, Nick (Debbie) Finefrock of Bloomingdale, Georgia and Frank (Sherry) Finefrock of Logan; one daughter, Marie (David) Riles of Logan; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Frank Trott of Virginia and Bobby Holt of Columbus; three sisters, Lena (Dick) Klinck of Hide away hills, Beverly (Rick) Bobo of Virginia and Betty (Roy) Jahn of Mt. Gilead; one daughter-in- law, Bobbie Finefrock; and many family, nieces, nephews, friends and her special canine companion Rosie. She is preceded in death by a son, Bernard Finefrock, daughter, Rose Albertine, two grandsons, Jeremy and Cory, brother Louis Trott. Meldene E. Hopstetter, 79, of Logan, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at Logan Health Care Center. She was born April 24, 1925, in Athens Co., daughter of the late Burt and Myrle Tuttle Cole. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert R. Hopstetter who passed away January 29, 1993. Meldene was a member of the First Church of Christ, Logan. She is survived by four grandchildren, Mark (Charmel) Glaspell of St. Robert, Missouri, Melissa (Greg) Cireddu of Acworth, Georgia, Doni (Andrew) Dukarski and Janelle (James) Baker both of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; four great grandchildren; son-in-law, Gary (Patty) Glaspell of Carroll. She is preceded in death by a son, Melvin Hopstetter and a daughter Patricia Ann Glaspell.
