DOROTHY M. UNVERFERTH

KALIDA – Dorothy M.Unverferth, 80, of Kalida died 8:45 am Sunday, January 06, 2008 at The Meadows of Kalida.

She was born January 28, 1927 in Findlay to the late Adam and Nellie (Hogan) Forney. On April 24, 1946, she married Gerald “Jerry” Unverferth. He died June 7, 1999. Surviving are 4 children: Tammy (Edward) Schroeder, Joyce (Joe) Sager, Michael (Norma) Unverferth and Jack (Mimi) Unverferth all of Kalida; 12 grandchildren: Kristen (Albert) Closson, Brian (Krista) Schroeder, Kelly (Chad) Huber, Bruce Schroeder, Barry Schroeder, Tricia (Jason) Unverferth, Jeff (Amy) Sager, Jeremy (Andi) Unverferth, Kyle Unverferth, Travis (Mindy Markward) Unverferth, Joshua (Wendy Smith) Unverferth, Jenny (Brian) Goubeaux; 12 great-grandchildren: Brandon and Matthew Closson, Colton, Hailey and Carter Huber, Luke and Logan Schroeder, Makenna Niese, Kelsey and Carson Sager, Caleb and Cooper Unverferth. She was preceded in death by a sister: Donna Payne and an infant sister.

Mrs. Unverferth was a homemaker, a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida where she taught religion class and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society; former member of the polka boosters; 4-H adviser for 8 years and babysat in her home for many years.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Ken Alt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Tuesday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township (West of Kalida at the corner of St. Rts. 224 & 634). There will be an Altar-Rosary service at 7:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Michael’s Religious Education Program or the Retirement Fund for the Missionaries of the Precious Blood.

CLAUDETTE GEIGER

OTTAWA - Claudette M. (Harpel) Billings Geiger, 65, died 10:09 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2008 at St. Rita’s Ambulatory Care Center in Glandorf. She was born September 28, 1942 in Alconbury, England to the late Harold and Peggy (Townsend) Harpel.

She is survived by 3 sons, Robert Billings, Jr. of Sylvania, Timothy Billings of Pennsylvania and Sam Geiger of Bryan; 3 daughters, Karen Billings of Bowling Green, Betty Shuman of Butler, IN. and Cheryl Garza of Bryan; 6 grandchildren, John Caperton, Rodney Garza, John Garza, Jr., Darby Geiger, Jacob Billings and Travis Shuman; a brother, Harold Harpel of Monclova; and 3 sisters, Sharon Harasta of Michigan, Wendy Vara of Point Place and Peggy Sherwood-Hayes of Toledo.

Preceding her in death were a son, Tommy Billings and a daughter, Betty J. Geiger.

Claudette was a homemaker and a member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witnesses.

A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witnesses, 9935 St. Rt. 12 W, Findlay, Ohio 45840 with Brother Sam Burton officiating. Memorial donations may be made directly to the family.

PATRICIA A. CONKRIGHT

NORTH CREEK - Patricia A. Conkright, 77, died 7:37 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

Mrs. Conkright was born August 24, 1930 in Ft. Wayne, IN., to the late Herbert and Marie (McGuire) Kocks. On May 9, 1953 she married Marvin “Ike” Conkright who survives in North Creek.

Also surviving are 3 sons, David (Brenda) Conkright of Hamler, Dan (Belinda) Conkright of Upper Arlington, and Tim Conkright of Toledo; 4 daughters, Connie (Gary) Diller of Columbus Grove, Kathy (Mike Basinger) Carder of Cairo, Tina (Andy) Campbell of Lima, and Carol (Joe) Botek of Defiance; 19 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Mary Ann) Kocks of Peoria, Il.; and a sister, Mary Lou (Richard) Peters of Ft. Wayne, In.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and Jim Kocks; and a sister, Jean Jehl.

Mrs. Conkright was retired from Campbell Soup in Napoleon and she worked at the Holgate Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Miller City. She was a member of St. Joseph’s and St. Nicholas Rosary Altar Society; the Red Hat Society; the Golden Steppers; the Happy Shufflers; Ohio Harness Horseman Association; formerly on the Continental EMS; she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and enjoyed bingo, shopping and taking care of birds.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Miller City with Fr. Robert DeSloover officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery in North Creek. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME in Ottawa. Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

ROBERT J. WEIDEMAN

OTTAWA - Robert J. Weideman, 82, of Ottawa died 9:40 PM Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Meadows of Leipsic.

Mr. Weideman was born October 6, 1925 in Garrett, Indiana to the late Richard and Olga (Ammentorp) Weideman.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen Weideman of Burlington, Vermont and a sister, Margaret Chamberlain of Shelton, Washington.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Weideman.

Mr. Weideman was retired from Philips Display Components formerly of Ottawa. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa; an Army veteran of World War II; formerly on the Board of Directors of the Putnam County District Library.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Ottawa, with Rev. Daniel Huther officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.

Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County District Library or the Alzheimer’s Association.

HESS, SR., STEVEN
Thursday, February 28 2008

LEIPSIC – Steven Hess, Sr., 40, died 4:03 a.m. Sunday, February 24, 2008 at St. Rita’s Putnam Co. Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf.

He was born March 5, 1967 in Toledo to the late Sydney and Ruth (Stewart) Hess.

Survivors include his former wife, Dianna Orwig of Leipsic; two sons, Steven Hess, Jr. and Cody Hess, both at home; two daughters, Jessica Orwig and Heavenly Ann Hess, both at home; two step brothers, Kevin Harriger and Greg Harriger, both of Sydney; a step sister, Lora Sekel of Pennsylvania; and a half sister, Loretta Hess of Sydney.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Ann Hess; and a brother, James Hess.

A Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 29, 2008 at Pastoral Ministries, Leipsic with Pastor Judy Parker officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Pastoral Ministries, Leipsic.

Arrangements were handled by Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic, Ohio.

JoANN C. HONIGFORD

OTTOVILLE-Jo Ann C. Honigford, 71, of Ottoville, died 9:50 PM Monday, February 25, 2008, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

She was born May 31, 1936 in Delphos, Ohio,to the late Joseph and Veronica (Knippen) Pothast. On September 1, 1956, she married James J. Honigford, who survives in Ottoville.

Jo Ann is survived by her children, Joan (Keith) Airey of Crawfordsville, In., Carol (Ray) Eickholt of Van Wert, Sue (Greg) Gordon of Indianapolis, IN., Larry Honigford and Tony Honigford both of Van Wert, Mary (Kevin) Kimmet of Sylvania, Judy (Bob) Kramer and Dale (Cheryl) Honigford both of Ottoville; 23 Grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Sue) Pothast of Mankato, Minn.

Preceding her in death are two sisters, Catherine Luersman and Della Rose Hickey.

Mrs. Honigford was a homemaker and retired from the Ottoville Bank. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville and its Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed attending grandchildren’s sporting events, traveling, sewing and dancing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, with Fr. John Stites officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery, Ottoville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, corner of St. Rt. 224 and 634, where there will be a scripture service Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, James Cancer Center or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Waneta Skiver

CONTINENTAL – Waneta Gale Skiver, 95, of Continental, died 4:15 am Saturday, March 15, 2008 at her daughter’s home in Oakwood. She was born November 19, 1912 in Paulding County to the late Abner and Sela (Sanford) Carnahan. On November 27, 1929, she married Perlie Skiver and he died May 8, 2001.

Surviving are 3 children: Randal (Delores) Skiver of Defiance, James (Nelverta) Skiver of Continental and Kay (Henry) Thomas of Oakwood; 15 Grandchildren; 3 Step-Grandchildren; 36 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Step-Great-Grandchildren; 20 Great-Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sons: Daniel and Roger Skiver; 2 Granddaughters: Joann and Joanna Skiver; 3 brothers: Rill, Brice and Curtis Carnahan and 2 sisters: Flossie Grime, Jessie Davis.

Mrs. Skiver was a homemaker and farmer. She was a member of North Mount Zion Church in Continental.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at North Mount Zion Church in Continental with Rev. Gerald Ringenburg officiating. Burial will follow in the North Mount Zion cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm on Monday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and from 10: 00 am until time of service Tuesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice.

Harold Siebeneck

OTTAWA - Harold A. “Skeet” Siebeneck died 4:05 pm Friday, March 14, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 4, 1943 in Lima to Oscar and Agnes (Brinkman) Siebeneck. His father is deceased. His mother and step-father, Harold Morman, survive in Ottawa. On April 20, 1974, he married Carol Strauer and she survives in Ottawa. Also surviving are three children: Breanne (Chad Salsburey) Siebeneck of Ottawa, Brooke Siebeneck of Columbus and Anthony Siebeneck of Mentone, In.; 4 brothers: Michael (Nancy) Morman, Thomas (Bonnie) Morman, David (Susan) Morman and Donald Morman all of Ottawa; a sister: Cynthia (Jeffrey) Aelker of Ottawa; 8 nieces and 12 nephews.

Skeet worked for 25 years at Louisiana-Pacific in Ottawa. He then worked for the Hancock County Community Action Commission. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ottawa; presently served as an Ottawa Village Councilman; formerly a member of the Ottawa Board of Public Affairs; former Ottawa auxiliary policeman; a volunteer for the American Heart Assoc.; supporter of the American Red Cross Disaster Committee and a former board member of the Putnam County United Way.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said 10:00 am Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Tom Hemm officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Sunday and 2 to 8 pm Monday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a scripture will be held at 2:30 pm Monday.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross; Putnam County Home Care and Hospice; American Cancer Society; Sts. Peter and Paul Parish or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

AGNES G. SCHECKELHOFF

OTTAWA – Agnes G. Scheckelhoff, 86, of Ottawa, died 10:07 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2008 at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.

Mrs. Scheckelhoff was born March 1, 1922 in Glandorf to the late Frank and Regina (Inkrott) Gerdeman. On August 29, 1942, she married Floyd F. Scheckelhoff, who died August 23, 1957.

She is survived by 3 sons, Richard Scheckelhoff of Ottawa, Kenneth Scheckelhoff of Elyria and Floyd Scheckelhoff of Iraq; 3 daughters, Jane (James) Riepenhoff of Miller City, Sister Linda Scheckelhoff, OSF of La Trinitaria, Chiapas, Mexico and Cindy (Steve) Maag of Ottawa; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; and 2 step great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Linus (Rosemary) Gerdeman and Joe (Ruth) Gerdeman both of Ottawa; and a sister, Ruth Gerdeman of Ottawa.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Scheckelhoff; a son-in-law, Norman Wagner; a step great-grandson, Michael Riepenhoff; and a sister, Edna Keeterle.

Mrs. Scheckelhoff was a cook at New Cleveland School for 21 years. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and its Altar Rosary Society and a Minister of Praise. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ottawa with Fr. Tom Hemm officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Family cemetery in New Cleveland. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME in Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorials can be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Church or Putnam County Home Health and Hospice.

CONNIE K. DEATRICK

PAULDING - Connie K. Deatrick, 57, formerly of Defiance, died 4:38 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2008 at Defiance Regional Medical Center, Defiance.

Ms. Deatrick was born October 2, 1950 in Defiance to Forest and Eunice (Workman) Deatrick. Her father is deceased, her mother survives in Paulding.

She is also survived by her brothers, Glen (Julia) Deatrick of Payne and Ron (Marita) Deatrick of Ottawa; several nieces; a great-nephew and a great-niece. She was preceded in death by a nephew, David Deatrick.

Ms. Deatrick was a Nutritional Specialist for Paulding County Senior Center. She attended Melrose United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of the former Junction United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Heitmeyer Funeral Home in Oakwood with Pastor Eileen Kochensparger officiating. Burial will be in Sherman cemetery in Oakwood. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME in Oakwood. Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

TERESA K. WITTE

OTTAWA - Teresa K. Witte, 49, died 6:45 p.m. Sunday March 9, 2008 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

Mrs. Witte was born March 14, 1958 in Lima to Willis and Jeniece (Corson) Meier and they survive in Lima. On December 31, 1989 she married Luther “Luke” Witte who survives in Ottawa.

Also surviving are her daughters: Susan Witte of Toledo and Sahra Witte at home in Ottawa; a step-daughter: Gina Burks of Columbus; 2 brothers: Robert (Lisa) Meier of Grandview and Bo (Gina) Meier of Lancaster, PA; a sister: Tracey Szilagye of Whitefish, MT.

She was preceded in death by a son: Jean Witte.

Mrs. Witte was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Elida High School; a local volunteer in the community and a former Girl Scout leader.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Love Funeral Home in Ottawa with Rev. Dan Huther officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park cemetery in Lima. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Youth Group or a charity of the donor’s choice.
