EDMUND A. KUHLMAN

DELPHOS - Edmund A. Kuhlman, 59, of Delphos died Tuesday March 25, 2008 at his residence. He was born July 28, 1948 in Lima to the late Edmund and Leonarda (Horstman) Kuhlman.

He is survived by 3 sisters: Sonia Kuhlman, Judith Kuhlman and Mary Ann Smith all of Cloverdale; 2 nephews: Dean Kuhlman and Rosten Smith; 2 nieces: Cassandra Smith and Kyleigh Smith; and 2 great-nephews: Conner Kuhlman and Carson Kuhlman.

Mr. Kuhlman formerly worked at U.S. Fibers in Delphos, now known as Green Fibers. He was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church in Cloverdale and a past member of Delphos Eagles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday March 29, 2008 at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Kill officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME in Jackson Township at the corner of St. Rts. 224 and 634. Memorials can be made to the family.

ARLENE R. ROSENGARTEN

NEW CLEVELAND - Arlene R. Rosengarten, 82, died 6:35 a.m. Wednesday March 26, 2008 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

Mrs. Rosengarten was born October 10, 1925 in Leipsic to the late George and Mary (Luttfring) Niese. On November 15, 1944 she married Linus Rosengarten who survives in New Cleveland.

Also surviving are 4 daughters: Karen (Clyde) Loughridge of Cleveland, Joyce Boff of Indianapolis, IN., Mary Ann (Pat) Hermiller-Kidd of Lima, and Kathy (Jim) Colasanti of Ottawa; 7 grandchildren: Jason Noirot, Todd Noirot, Randy Hermiller, Ryan Boff, Jenny Hermiller, Megan Horton and Lisa Hermiller; 4 great-grandchildren: Kobe Noirot, Ayden Boff, Kendall Noirot and Kylie Creller; 4 sisters: Velma (Louie) Schmenk of Leipsic, Thelma Kuhlman of New Cleveland, Irene Kahle of Columbus Grove, and Rita Clapp of Delphos.

Mrs. Rosengarten was a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Cleveland and its Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed playing cards; dancing; reading and fishing. The light and love of her life was her husband of 63 years and her 4 daughters. Her daily communication with God gave her comfort when he came to take her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in New Cleveland with Fr. Robert DeSloover officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME in Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Memorials can be made to Holy Family Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.

SHARON K. DECKER

FT. JENNINGS - Sharon K. Decker, 48, of Ft. Jennings, died 12:20 a.m. Monday March 24, 2008 at her residence.

Mrs. Decker was born July 5, 1959 in Davenport, Iowa to Harold and Virginia (West) Stewart and they survive in Davenport, IA. On October 2, 1998 she married Glenn Decker who survives in Ft. Jennings.

Also surviving are her children: Daniel (Crystal) Hulke and Eric Stewart both of Ottawa; 2 grandchildren on the way; 3 brothers: Ron Stewart, Tim (Michelle) Stewart and Alan Stewart all of Davenport, IA.; 2 sisters: Tammy (Doug) Arps of Yuma, AZ. and Kathleen Stewart of Davenport, IA.; and her father and mother-in-law: James and Beverly Decker of Oakwood.

Mrs. Decker worked at Pandora Manufacturing.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township(at the corner of St. Rts. 224 and 634). Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Dupont. Memorials may be made to the family.

LAWRENCE HAZELTON JR.

CONTINENTAL – Lawrence Hazelton Jr., 79, of Continental, died 2:10 PM Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Meadows of Ottawa/Glandorf Nursing Home, Glandorf.

Lawrence was born June 13, 1928, in Continental, to the late Lawrence and Esther (Morgan) Hazelton. On November 21, 1952, he married Jennie A. Miller, she survives in Continental.

Also surviving are a son, Don (Deb) Hazelton of Continental; a daughter, Darlene Sue (Stephen) Howard of Continental; a brother, Robert (Joetta) Hazelton of Leipsic; a sister, Eileen Schmidt of Continental; a son-in-law, Clyde Varner of Napoleon; five grandchildren, Craig (Krista) Varner, Eric (Becky) Varner, Kenny Hazelton, Katelyn Howard, Kyle Howard; 2 great-grandchildren, Caroline Varner and Jacob Varner.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Kay Varner and two brothers, Marvin Hazelton and Charles Hazelton.

Lawrence retired from General Motors Powertrain of Defiance and lifelong farmer. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Continental; a Veteran of the US Army, serving in Korea; member of Continental American Legion; enjoyed playing cards and enjoyed his family.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday (3/26/2008) at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with the Rev. Rick Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Monroe cemetery, Continental with military graveside rites by Continental American Legion. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday and 2 to 8 PM Tuesday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental.

Memorials may be made by charity of donor’s choice.

CAROLYN ANN STAUFFER

CONTINENTAL – Carolyn Ann Stauffer, 61 of Continental, died 4:45 PM Friday, March 21, 2008 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice.

She was born September 11, 1946 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to the late Arthur and Marvel (Varner) Gibson. On July 30, 1966 in Eudora, Arkansas, she married Bruce Stauffer, who survives in Continental.

Surviving are a son, David (Leona) Stauffer of Continental; three grandchildren; three brothers, Byron Gibson of Ottawa, James (Sylvia) Gibson of Moses Lake, WA., Kenneth (Dena) Gibson of Calico Rock, ARK.; and a sister, Gloria (Douglas) Burg of Weatherford, TX.

Carolyn is preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Marvin Gibson.

She was a homemaker. Carolyn attended the Dupont Church of the Brethren.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Monday (3/24/2008) at the Dupont Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Terry Porter officiating. Burial will be in the Varner cemetery, Putnam County. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Monday at the DUPONT CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN, Dupont.

Memorials may be made to the Dupont Church of the Brethren.

RUTH LEANNA (WING) SHIRE

CONTINENTAL – Ruth Leanna (Wing) Shire, 96 of Continental, died 2:20 PM Friday, March 21, 2008 at Van Crest Nursing Home, Holgate, Ohio.

Mrs. Shire was born January 4, 1912 in Putnam County to the late Fred and Minnie (Castle) Wing. She married Lester F. Shire, Sr., who died in 1976.

Surviving are two step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Dan, Ross, Shell, Charles “Jack”, Ralph and Cloyd “Tod” Wing and two sisters, Pearl Bonecutter and Esther Boggs.

In 1972, Ruth retired from Rohm & Haas Chemical Company in Bristol, Penn., where she worked for 30 years. She attended Christ Lutheran Church in Continental; graduated from Continental High School in 1929. Ruth lived in Bristol, Penn. for many years and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Levittown, Penn.; member of Lowa Bucks County Hospital Auxiliary, until moving to Oak, Fl., in 1979, there she attended St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and was a member of the Senior Citizen Club. In 1993, she moved back to Continental, where she lived with her sister, Esther Boggs.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Tuesday, (3/25/2008) at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Rev. Jerald Rayl officiating. Burial will be in Monroe cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Monday and 9:30 AM till time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Continental or donor’s choice.

DONELDA A. HOERSTEN
Thursday, March 20 2008

OTTAWA – Donelda A. Hoersten, 96 of Ottawa, died 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

She was born July 27, 1911 in Glandorf to the late Henry and Johanna (Meyer) Deck. On April 24, 1945, she married Lawrence H. Hoersten, who died July 22, 1999.

Mrs. Hoersten was a retired Nurse’s Aide from Royal Crest Nursing Home, Ottawa. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and it’s Altar Rosary Society; and a member of Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Hoersten of Ottawa; two daughters, Dolores (William) Shumaker of Elida and Shirley Hoersten of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Mark, Greg, Brian, Karen and Cindy Shumaker, and Marci (Mark) Radaszewski; a great-grandson, Matthew Radaszewski; and a sister, Gladys “Peg” Ball of Ottawa.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alphonse and Lawrence Deck; and two sisters, Bernetta Deck and Loretta Little.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Tom Hemm officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a Scripture Service will be held at 2:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

CLAYTON DRERUP

OTTAWA - Clayton Drerup, 82, died 2:46 a.m. Wednesday March 19, 2008 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

Mr. Drerup was born September 25, 1925 in Glandorf to the late Edward and Adelaide (Stechschulte) Drerup. On June 3, 1947 he married Ruth Recker who survives in Ottawa.

Also surviving are his children, Kenneth Drerup of Lewes, DE., Diane Drerup of Ottawa, Mary Jo Williams of Ottawa, Dale Drerup of Ottawa, Lisa (Stephen) Peck of Ottawa and Lynn (Terry) Maag of Ottawa; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Helen) Drerup of VanBuren; a brother, John (Helen) Drerup of VanBuren; and 2 sisters, Marie White and Rosemary Lammers both of Ottawa.

Preceding him in death was a son, Larry Drerup; 4 brothers, Walter Drerup, Elmer Drerup, James Drerup and Robert Drerup; 5 sisters, Louise Wright, Norma Haley, Mildred Coverston, Rita Wagner and Dolores Oskey.

Mr. Drerup was retired from Glandorf Feed and German Mutual Insurance. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glandorf and its Men’s Society; he was a US Army Veteran of WWII; member of Ottawa VFW post #9142; Ottawa American Legion post #63, Glandorf Rod and Gun Club; Ottawa Eagles and was on the Glandorf Park Board. He loved attending his grandchildren’s ballgames. His hobbies included fishing, wine making, caning chairs, woodworking and doing jigsaw puzzles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday March 24, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glandorf with Fr. Harold Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Saturday and 4 to 8 pm Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME in Ottawa where there will be a VFW Service at 7 pm on Sunday. Memorials can be made to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice or St. John the Baptist church.

FORTMAN, HILDA
Monday, April 7 2008

KALIDA – Hilda B. Fortman, 86, of Kalida died 5:20 pm April 6, 2008 at the Meadows of Kalida. She was born December 26, 1921 in Cloverdale to the late Joseph and Henrietta (Scharf) Wannemacher. On October 11, 1945 she married Paul Fortman. He died April 14, 2007 after 61 years of marriage.

Hilda is survived by 5 children: Beverly (Robert) Wolke of Van Wert, Pat (Steven) Nathanson of Toledo, Mike (Jane) Fortman of Kalida, Ron (Deb) Fortman of Findlay, and Marilyn (Denny) McCollum of Kalida; 12 grandchildren: Kristin Whitlock, Erik Wolke, Becky Nathanson, Andrea (Austin) Howard, Ross (Missy) Fortman, Keith Fortman, Sarah Fortman, Kyle Fortman, Melissa Fortman, Dean McCollum, Doug McCollum and Jason McCollum; a great-granddaughter: Alexa Fortman; a sister: Juanita (Urban) Selhorst of Kalida; a sister-in-law: Jeanette Wannemacher of Cloverdale. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Mary Fortman, a grandson: Matthew Fortman; 2 sisters and brothers- in-law: Rosemary and August Plumpe, Evangeline and Oscar Kerner; 2 brothers: Herbert and Joseph Wannemacher.

Mrs. Fortman was a homemaker. She had worked as a secretary for Westinghouse in Lima and also worked as a Lab Technician at Buckeye Sugars in Ottawa. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida and its Altar Rosary Society where she had been president; graduate of Ottoville High School where she was Valedictorian; served on the Putnam County Election Board; enjoyed cooking for weddings; volunteered at her church and area nursing homes; was former president of the Band Mothers at Kalida School. Her grandchildren and great-granddaughter were the light of her life. She will be remembered for her quilting, baking cookies & pies; her love of gardening and strong faith in God.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, April 10, 2008 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Ken Alt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday and 2 to 8 pm Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 7:45 pm Tuesday and an Altar Rosary Service at 7:00 pm Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Putnam County Hospice or St. Michael’s Church.

JENNIFER L. BURMAN
Sunday, April 6 2008

PANDORA - Jennifer L. Burman, 33, of Pandora, died 10:48 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, Ohio.

Jennifer was born March 2, 1975, in Oberlin, Ohio, to James and LoAnn (Inbody) Burman, they survive in Findlay.

Also surviving are three brothers, Robert (Janice) Burman of Pandora, Douglas (Valerie) Burman of Bluffton and Gregory (Carla) Burman of Benton Ridge; her fiancé, Blake Hallowell of Curtice, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, David Burman.

Jennifer graduated in 1993 from Pandora-Gilboa High School. She also graduated from Northwestern Business College with an Associate Degree in Business administration. She worked for Stolly Insurance Agency in Lima and formerly worked for American Family Insurance in Pandora. She enjoyed snowmobiling, loved to collect bears and loved dogs and cats.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Ottawa, with Rev. David Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Harman cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
