Katharina Bohland Reiter
September 07, 1911 - June 04, 2002
Katharina Bohland Reiter, 90, of Mansfield died early Tuesday morning, June 4, 2002 at Woodlawn Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was born September 7, 1911 in Mramorak, Yugoslavia to Jacob and Margaret (Baumung) Bohland. Mrs. Reiter was an area resident since 1952. She was a housewife who enjoyed being with her family and attended Diamond Hills Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ludwig and Rose Reiter and Hermann Reiter, all of Mansfield; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karolina Hoffmann of Mansfield and Joanna and Philip Kampf of Huntington, New York; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Gloria Sims of Mansfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Christian Reiter; daughter, Margaret Richter; parents, Jacob and Margaret Bohland; sisters, Kristina Beck, Julia Knapp, Susie Stropko; and brothers, Jacob, Martin, Peter, Philip and Adam Bohland.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday, June 6 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Diamond Hills Baptist Church, Friday at 10:30 and will be conducted by Rev. Christopher Thomas. Burial will follow in Mansfield cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Diamond Hills Baptist Church.

Robert Baker, Jr.
February 03, 1924 - July 02, 2003
Robert Baker, Jr., age 79, 1405 Silver Ln., Mansfield died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, July 2, 2003 at the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo Hospital. He was born February 3, 1924 at Ft. Smith, Arkansas to the late Robert Bumbacher and Philomena Bender Baker. Mr. Baker was a retired employee of Harold Motors in Ashland. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea serving on the USS Tranquility. Robert was a member of VFW Post 9943. He attended St. John’s United Church of Christ.
Surviving are a grandson, Michael Hristovski of Mansfield; a son-in-law, John Hristovski of Alvardton, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Allen Baker; a daughter, Linda S. Hristovski and a sister, Rosa Nicholas.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Sunday, July 6, 2003, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 7, 2003, at 10:30 am in the funeral home by Rev. Lon McSherly. Burial will be at Mansfield Memorial Park where military graveside services will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family.

Philip D. Lemert
October 26, 1955 - August 08, 2003
Philip D. Lemert, 47, of Shelby died unexpectedly Friday evening, August 8, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. Mr. Lemert was born October 26, 1955 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the area all of his life. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1974. He was an Eagle Scout of Lexington Troop 152. Philip was employed with Westbrook Country Club. He was an avid Indians fan and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Deana L. (Roberts) Lemert of Shelby; his mother, Ethel E. (Heuss) Lemert of Mansfield; a son, T.J. Hencye of Shelby; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David & Anna Lemert of Louisburg, North Carolina and Greg & Susanne Lemert of Sandusky, Ohio and their daughter, Carrie; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim & Merry Roberts of North Ridgeville, Ohio and their children, Ian and Brenna; fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law, James R. & Chris Roberts of Sandusky and Bruce & Marlene Rockwell of Huron; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Ben A. Lemert; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Monday from 6-8 p.m. with memorial services to follow at 8:00 p.m. conducted by Dr. Wray C. Smith. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

William Leo Cantwell
August 08, 1924 - August 09, 2003
William Leo Cantwell, 79, of Mansfield died at home Saturday morning, August 9, 2003 after a yearlong illness. Mr. Cantwell was born August 8, 1924 in Barnard, South Dakota living in the Mansfield area the past 5 ˝ years. He was employed in sales with International Multi-Foods in Minneapolis, Minnesota and general manager of Panhandle Milling in Dawn, Texas. He attended First English Lutheran Church. Mr. Cantwell was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Norma M. (Andrew) Cantwell of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane & Mike Anderson of Mansfield, Ohio; a son, James Cantwell of McAllen, Texas; grandchildren, Leigh Anderson of Bowling Green, Ohio, Leslie Anderson of Chicago, Illinois, Peter Anderson of Findlay, Ohio, Timothy & Amy Cantwell serving with the U.S. Army in Germany and Kristine Cantwell of Texas; great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Linda, Carter and Catherine; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Deb & Bill Bryson of Woodbury, Tennessee and Pam & Bill Bonson of Tullahoma, Tennessee; step grandchildren, Jill Bryson of Washington D.C. and Drew and Reed Bryson, both of Woodbury, Tennessee; step great-grandson, Ben Bryson of Washington D.C.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph & Virginia Cantwell and Patrick Cantwell, all of Aberdeen, South Dakota and William & Larue of Westport, South Dakota; a sister and brother-in-law, Earl & Elaine Sand-Schulenburg of Dayton, Minnesota; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward & Irene Monica (Callaghan) Cantwell; his first wife, Myra Jane (Hinds) Cantwell; a brother, Jack Cantwell; and a sister, Jean Lurton.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Monday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Paul Larson. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or Cancer Care at MedCentral Mansfield.

Maxine T. Balser
July 13, 1928 - May 02, 2000
Maxine T. Balser, 71, of 339 Melody Lane died Tuesday morning May 2, 2000 at Woodlawn Nursing Home, following an extended illness. Mrs. Balser was born July 13, 1928 in Middle Port, Ohio living in the Mansfield area most of her life. She retired from Therm-O-Disc and was a former employee of O’Neils Department Store. She was a member of American Legion Aux. Post #16 and A.A.R.P.
She is survived by her husband; Carroll W. Balser of Mansfield, two sons and daughters-in-law; Thomas & Patty Balser of Sugar Grove, OH; Michael & Gail Balser of Lakeland, FL; five grandchildren, Jessica, Megan, Elijah, Steth, Stephen; two sisters, Virginia & Robert Arbaugh of Middleport, OH and Hazel Bowers of New Carlisle, OH; one brother, James Thomas of Middleport, OH; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Cora “Matheny” Thomas; two brothers Harry and Ernest Thomas.
Friends may call Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Thursday May 4, 2000 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Friday May 5, 2000 at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Christopher Thomas Burial will be held at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.

Paul W. Baumberger
September 28, 1914 - May 22, 2000
Paul W. Baumberger, 85, of 1874 Autumn Drive died Friday evening, May 19, 2000 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Baumberger was born September 28, 1914 in Mansfield, Ohio living in the area all of his life. Mr. Baumberger was a veteran of The U.S. Navy WWII. He was owner of Baumberger Appraisal which was started in 1951. He was also a Real Estate broker, as well as an avid auctioneer, appraiser, and sold insurance policies. He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Former President of the Mansfield Board of Realtors, Amvets Post # 26, American Legion Post # 16, Lexington Senior Center, Member of the Shrine, VFW, F & AM Venus Lodge, Baku Grotto, Retman’s Club.
He is survived by his wife; Norma J. (Stotts) Baumberger of Mansfield, two sons & daughters-in-law; Stan & Linda Baumberger of Mansfield, James & Debi Baumberger of Portland, Oregon; a daughter and son-in-law; Pat & Danny Sagstetter of Delaware, OH; four grandchildren; Paul, Ken, Kim Baumberger and Parker Sagstetter; three great-grandchildren; Chase, Zoe, and Jacob. Four brothers; Roy, Richard, Donald, and Bob Baumberger; three sisters; Gertrude Johnson, Doris Jean Henke, and Margarite Hilton. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; David & Florence (Boughner) Baumberger, three brothers, and one sister.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2000 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1262 Ashland Road. Services will be conducted by Rev. Bonnie Peltomaa. Memorial contributions can be made out to The Baku Grotto Endowment Fund. Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors will be handling arrangements.

Julianna Baumann
March 10, 1904 - June 29, 2000
Julianna Baumann, age 96, of Mansfield, died Thursday, June 29, 2000 at Lexington Court Care Center after a short illness. Mrs. Baumann was born March 10, 1904 in Austria-Hungary and resided in the Mansfield area since 1955. She was a member of Apostolic Christian Church of Middle-Bellville Road.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Jakob Schmidt of Mansfield with whom she made her home; her grandson and his spouse, Arnold and Nina Schmidt of Butler; her great-grandsons, Eric Schmidt, Charles Keinath, and Marc Keinath; three sisters, Elizabeth of Chicago, Illinois, Theresia and Barbara of Germany, numerous nieces and nephews and the Baumann family in Europe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Baumann, and her sons Michael Koch, Martin Baumann, and Adam Baumann.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 5, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. in the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors with the Apostolic Christian Church officiating. Friends may call at Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to the funeral services. Burial will be held in Mansfield cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church of Middle-Bellville Road.

Leda L. Baker
December 20, 1895 - September 08, 2000
Leda L. Baker, age 104, of 117 Jacob Parrott Drive, died Friday morning September 8, 2000 at Baldwin Manor Nursing Home, Kenton, Ohio following a brief illness. Mrs. Baker was born December 20, 1895 in Richland County, Ohio living in the Mansfield area for the past 30 years. She was owner/operator of the Adario General Store for many years. Mrs. Baker was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Marie & Dean Maxwell of Kenton, Ohio; four grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in by her parents, Elmore & Matilda (Sheely) Light; her husband, Boyd G. Baker; and three brothers.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday September 19, 2000 at Mansfield Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Dr. James Kelsey. There will be no calling hours held at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Park Avenue Baptist Church.

Frank L. Binder
August 26, 1922 - September 28, 2000
Frank L. Binder, age 78, of Dade City, FL died September 28, 2000 after a brief illness. Mr. Binder was born August 26, 1922 in Yugoslavia and was a Mansfield resident until 1978. He retired after 35 years from General Motors and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. Mr. Binder was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church as well as the Elks Lodge #2731 of Zephyrhills, Florida and the VFW Post #16 of Mansfield.
Surviving are his wife, Esther (Grauer) Binder of Florida; one son, Thomas Frank Binder of Seattle Washington; one daughter, Mari Ann Binder Futty of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret (Dewald) Binder; a son, Richard Binder; a brother, George Binder and a sister, Rose Winbigler.
Friends may call one hour prior to a 2:30 p.m. service on Wednesday, October 4th at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors conducted by Rev. Bonnie Peltomaa. Burial will be in Mansfield cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Kobacker House at Riverside Hospital Hospice of Columbus, Ohio.

Ralph L Baumberger
January 12, 1927 - October 01, 2000
Ralph L. "Bummy" Baumberger, age 73, of Ashland, Ohio died October 1, 2000 at Ashland Samaritan Regional Health System following an extended illness. Mr. Baumberger was born January 12, 1927 in Mansfield residing in the area most of his life before moving to Ashland in 1989. He retired from Cement Products of Mansfield in 1989. Mr. Baumberger was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served on several boards. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II and in South Pacific with Naval Construction Battalion.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Barbara L. (Garn) Baumberger of Ashland, Ohio; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Diane Baumberger of Mansfield; Scott and Peggy Baumberger of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Tim and Tami Baumberger of Bucyrus, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Geoffrey, Bradley and Brooke Baumberger all of Mansfield; Tyler and Taylor Baumberger of Bucyrus, Ohio; Brittany Jones of Mansfield; Kelly Collins of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Amy Collins King of Washington; six great-grandchildren; and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Baumberger.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Wednesday October 4, 2000 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 5, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Pastor David Reed. Burial will be in Windsor Park cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Robert Harnly Garn Memorial Scholarship Fund for Ashland University.
