Wilbur G. Beer
July 07, 1912 - January 27, 2002
Wilbur G. Beer, 89, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning January 27, 2002 at Med Central Mansfield. Mr. Beer was born July 7, 1912 in Mansfield, Ohio to Samuel & Amanda (Foss) Beer and has lived in Mansfield all his life. Wilbur retired from Vercoe-Advest after 31 years of service as a stockbroker. He was also a lifelong member of Elks lodge, played duplicate bridge and enjoyed spending time at his farm. He was recently honored at the 75th annual Madison High School football celebration were he served as the Grand Marshal and was presented with the 1928 Championship Cup for the team that he captained.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry & Linda Beer of Medina, Oh and Edward & Barbara Beer of Mansfield; one daughter-in-law, Sally Parilla of Mansfield, Oh., six grandchildren and spouses, Vicki & Jay Berger of Mansfield, Jeff & Jane Beer of Aurora, Ill., Michael & Mollis Beer of Woodbridge, Va., David Beer of Medina, Oh., Teresa Beer of Mansfield and Joanna Beer of Mansfield. Three great grandchildren, Joseph Berger, Mitchell Berger and Julia Beer. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Esther L. (Howell) Beer, one son Jim Beer, two sisters, Mabel Bird and Helene Beer, one great grandson, Sam Berger.
Friends may call at the Ontario home of Wappner Funeral Directors. (100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd.) on Tuesday January 29, 2002 from 3-5 & 7-9 P.M. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. conducted by Dr. Wray C. Smith. Burial will be held in Mansfield cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilbur G. & Esther L. Beer Fund at Richland County Foundation

Thelma Peters Johnson
December 21, 1923 - January 31, 2002
Thelma Peters Mathews Johnson, 78, of Mansfield, died Thursday morning, January 31, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Johnson was born December 21, 1923, to Louis and Geecora (Watkins) Peters in Haywood County, Tennessee. She retired from Abbott Industries in 1984 where she was a machine operator. She attended Paradise Hill in Ashland.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny L. Johnson of Mansfield; two daughters and a son-in-law, Evlyn Alexander Moultry & Murphy Moultry of Mansfield, and Shirlene Lindsay of Mansfield; two sons, Willie L. Mathews of Mansfield and Harrison Mathew Jr. of Lima, Ohio; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother, Hubert Peters of Mansfield; three sisters, Lois Fugua of Mansfield, Willie Jo Corbin of Anderson, Indiana, and Adell Peters Shaw and her husband, Tommy Shaw of Tennessee; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Mae Eva Mathews, brothers, Lee Oliver and Louis Peters and stepmother, Julie Mae Peters.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Monday, February 4, 2002 one hour prior to services to be held at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Verdell E. Larson. Burial will follow in Mansfield cemetery. The family will be receiving friends following the services at 163 Grover Street, Mansfield.

Ann Fogle
June 29, 1918 - February 01, 2002
Ann Fogle, 83, of Mansfield died Friday afternoon, February 1, 2002 at Woodlawn Nursing Home after an extended illness. Miss Fogle was born June 29, 1918 in Zanesville, Ohio to George H. and Edith (Denny) Fogle. She retired from Peoples Hospital in 1983 where she worked as a medical transcriptionist, and also worked at the office of Drs. Baddour & Wiecher at Mansfield General Hospital for 25 years. Ann attended the Central United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her friend, Evelyn Worner of Mansfield. Her parents, George and Edith Fogle and brother, Richard Denny Fogle all preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Monday, February 4, 2002 one hour prior to services to be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church.

Helen L. Heuss Adams
March 05, 1916 - February 01, 2002
Helen L. Heuss Adams, 85, of Naperville, Illinois, died early Friday morning, February 1, 2002 in Oswego, Illinois. Mrs. Adams was born March 5, 1916 in Mansfield to Louis and Helen (Gross) Heuss. Until her retirement, she worked as a private duty Licensed Practical Nurse. She attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and was past Worthy Matron and life member of Ruth Chapter #17, Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David & Bonnie Adams of Napierville, Illinois; daughter, Peg Adams of Merrimac, Massachusetts; granddaughter, Siri Holland and husband, Christopher; grandson, Brian Adams and wife, Andrea; great-granddaughter, Parker Anne Holland; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd K. Adams in 1991, and her parents.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Tuesday, February 5, 2002, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home, Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Rev. George Billman. Burial will follow in Mansfield cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Janeen E. Adams
December 29, 1946 - February 20, 2002
Janeen Adams, 55, of Mansfield died Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after fighting a two-year battle with leukemia. Janeen was born November 29, 1946 to Gene and Vivian (McFarland) Mellick. She was a resident of Richland County her entire life and retired as the owner of the Book Swap on Park Avenue West. Janeen attended Ganges Community Church and was past President of the Ladies Aid.
Cherishing her memory are her husband, Ron; sons, David and Brant, both of Mansfield; mother, Vivian Mellick of Shelby; father-in-law, Goral Adams; brother and sister-in-law, Fred & Darlene Mellick of Mansfield; sisters and brother-in-law, Marquita Fairchild of Marion and Cinda & Leon Lindsey of Mansfield; brothers-in-law and their spouses, Hubie & Sandy Adams of Shiloh and Larry & Linda Adams of Galion; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her father, Gene Mellick preceded her in death in 1983 as well as her mother-in-law, Jeanne Adams in 1985 and brother-in-law Bob Fairchild in 2001.
An open house celebrating Janeen's life will be held at 2438 Millsboro Road, Mansfield, March 2, 2002 beginning at 2:00 p.m. The family requests special memories, anecdotes, and thoughts of this special lady be written and brought to this gathering for placement in a memory book honoring Janeen's life. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.

Eula C. Allen
April 08, 1905 - March 16, 2002
Eula C. Allen, age 96, formerly of LaSalle St., Mansfield, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Heritage Care Center in Shelby, following an extended illness. She was born April 8, 1905 in Junior, W. Va. to Emery and Lucresia Edmond Shomo. During her life, Mrs. Allen had worked at the Air Force Depot in Shelby and at Shelby Cycle. Throughout her entire life, Eula’s greatest enjoyment was planning, selecting, and planting flowers for her home. She was an independent woman who was very loving and close to her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, Robert Allen of Mansfield, Lynn Allen of Mansfield, Charles Allen of Shelby, Sam Allen of Pensecola, Florida, and Harold Allen of San Raphael, California; daughters, Colleen Vanasdale of Mansfield, Evelyn Pfahler of Galion and Elaine Lorzell of Winfield, Ill.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin P. Allen, a son, Harley Allen and a daughter, Janet Allen.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Monday, March 18 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Rev. Steven Bond. Burial will be in Ashland County Memorial Park.

Robert S. Albers
April 07, 1916 - March 17, 2002
Robert S. Albers, 85, of Mansfield died Sunday evening, March 17, 2002 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Albers was born April 7, 1916, in Sidney, Ohio to Harry B. and Nell (Markland) Albers and was a Mansfield area resident most of his life. He retired from the Post Office where he worked as a supervisor. Robert also ran the Prince’s Lunch restaurant on the square and enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Force serving during WWII.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred Albers; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and John Fout of Butler, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Shirley Albers of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Michael Fout, Jody Fout, Jenny Carr and Stephanie Albers; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas Brokaw, Chelsy and Gabrielle Carr and Christina Fout; two sisters, Katherine Davis and Elizabeth O’Brien of Mansfield; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Albers of Mansfield and Naomi Albers of Elyria, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Thomas Albers, parents, Harry and Nell Albers, four brothers, Henry, Frederick, Horace and John Albers and sister, Dorothy Wolf.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Tuesday, March 19 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Cloyd E. Kress. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mifflin Township Fire Department.

Dorothy Jean Baker Karsmizki
May 29, 1931 - March 19, 2002
Dorothy Jean Baker Karsmizki, 70, of Mansfield, died early Tuesday morning March 19, 2002 at home following an extended valiant battle with cancer. Mrs. Karsmizki was born May 29, 1931 in Mansfield being a life long resident. She was a loving homemaker and had also worked at Westinghouse for many years. Mrs. Karsmizki was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of Policemen’s Retirement Association. Dorothy was a very creative person in such things as, oil painting, reverse glass oil painting and crocheting.
Surviving are her loving husband of 54 years, Raymond Karsmizki; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Joan Karsmizki of LaFollette, Tennessee; and James and Stacy Karsmizki of Mansfield; six grandchildren, Michelle Lemon; Tracey Satterfield; Katie Karsmizki; and Dustin, Shannon and Kelsey Gledhill; one great-granddaughter, Sabrina; one sister, Betty Smith of Mansfield; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jack and Marge Baker of Ocala, Florida; Robert Baker of Cuyahoga Falls; and Kenneth and Dorothy Baker of Homosassa, Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman Ellsworth and Ozella Faye Baker; and one daughter, Sharon Lemon.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Thursday March 21, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Scott Taube. Burial will be in Lantz cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.

Donald Eugene Angel
January 13, 1922 - March 30, 2002
Donald Eugene Angel, Sr., 80, died Saturday, March 30, 2002. He died at the home of his son and daughter-in-law after a long courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Angel was born January 13, 1922 in Portsmouth, Ohio residing in Mansfield most of his life. He retired from the Ohio Brass Company in 1984 after 36 years of service. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8586. Don was a loving husband father and grandfather.
Mr. Angel is survived by his wife of 42 years Kathy (Dotterman) Angel; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Heather Angel; daughter, Gladys Darlene (Angel) Echard; grandchildren, Brett, Jordan, Alexis and Logan Angel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen and Eddie Bohem of West Haven, Conn., Catherine Rudy of Mesa, Ariz., Clara Combs of New Albany, Ind., Regina and James Smith of Jeffersonville, Ind., Virginia Hancock of Apollo Beach, Fla., Ruth and Richard Lombardi of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Loyd and Shirley Angel of Charlestown, In: Howard Angel and his friend, Paul Goodman of Louisville, Ky.; brother-in-law, Anton Dotterman of Shelby, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; special family and friends, Dolores and Gene Harris, Barb Baich, P.J. and Maddie, Rubberduck and son, Kathy Vining and family, “adopted daughter” Melinda (Kay-Kay) Cole, Hospice of Ashland caregivers Evelyn and Kathy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Gladys Angel, mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Elizabeth Dotterman, sister, Helen Venear, brothers Curtis and Stanley Angel, sister-in-law Liz Graser, brother-in-laws Frank, Tom, Pete, Joe, George, and John Dotterman.

Military graveside services will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to North Central Ohio Hospice of Ashland.

Hillard Eugene Adams
April 12, 1920 - September 14, 2001
Hillard Eugene “Chief” Adams, 81, formerly of 117 Sulphur Springs Road, Greenville, South Carolina, died Friday, September 14, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield after a long illness. He was born in Oconee County, South Carolina to the late Henry Clyde and Annie Mae (Chapman) Adams. He was a retired plumber, a Baptist and a member of the Masons in Martinez, Georgia. Chief was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII where he earned 2 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Star.
In addition to his wife, Edna Frances (McCoy) Adams, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Joyce and Edward Kennedy of Mansfield, with whom he made his home and Glenda Jean and Bill Carroll of Greenville, SC; four sons and their spouses, Donald and Toni Adams of Lijay, GA, Randy C. Adams of Pumpkintown, Samuel D. Adams of Dacusville, and Roger D. Adams of Tampa, FL; seven grandchildren, Joy Michelle Clever of Mansfield, Donald Adams of South Carolina, Kathy, Kelly, Chelsea Adams of New Hampshire, Christi Adams and Dawn Rains of South Carolina; six great-grandchildren. His son, Thomas S. Adams, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Brenda Kennedy, 196 N. Illinois Avenue. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is assisting with arrangements. The family requests memorial contributions are made to the American Red Cross in lieu of flowers.
