Janet Bushman
March 18, 1929 - March 30, 2003
Janet Bushman, 74, of Mansfield, Ohio died early Sunday morning March 31, 2003 at Med Central Mansfield following an extended illness. Mrs. Bushman was born March 18, 1929 in Ashland County as the daughter of Brant and Anna Echelberger. She retired from Bank One and also worked at Dominion Electric, Ohio Brass, and Five Cousins. Janet was one of the original switchboard operators in Mifflin. She also attended St. Michael Lutheran Church of Mifflin.
Her daughter Karen Bushman and fiancée Michael Stimmell of Ashland; two brothers and sisters-in-law Donald and Dora Echelberger of Perrysville, and Ted and Janice Echelberger of Ashland; one sister Frances Cappadonna of Kodiak Tennessee; one sister-in-law Sally Bushman of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Bushman; parents Brant and Anna Echelberger; infant daughter Kay Ellen Bushman; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Naomi Echelberger of Lucas.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the Diamond Street home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Tuesday April 2, 2003 at 1:00p.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Lutheran Church or Hospice of Richland County.

Jr. "Daddio" Bill Gorman
April 05, 1924 - March 29, 2003
Jr. “Daddio” Bill Gorman, age 78, of 377 Wayne Street, died unexpectedly at his home Saturday afternoon. Mr. Gorman was born April 5, 1924 in Olive Hill, KY and has lived in Mansfield since 1942. He had retired from Martin Steel as a crane operator and truck driver. Bill was a member of the Eagles Club.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenny Gorman of Mansfield, and Larry & Breta Gorman of Mansfield; two daughters, Teresa Gorman of Mansfield and Pat Gorman of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Roshella Shearon, Glenda “Boo” Thompson, Jaylene Ward, Samantha & Talia Gorman, Kimberly Gorman and Elizabeth Gorman; seven great-grandchildren, Michael, Phillip, Amber, Tabitha, Michelle, Leah, Dakota, and Diamond; eight great-great-grandchildren; one sister, “Chog” Audra Boggs of Michigan; and a special friend, Velma “Body”Seitz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaythel Gorman; parents, Willie and Orlie Gorman; two sisters, Jewell Henderson, and Ruth Swenagan; and a brother, Cleo Gorman.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Rick Wiseman. Burial will be held in Windsor cemetery.

Cassandra Kronenberger
July 07, 1948 - March 25, 2003
Cassandra Marshall Kronenberger, 54, died after a short illness in Key West, Florida. She passed away while on vacation with her loving husband and mother. Cass was born in Mansfield on July 7, 1948 to Jack and Mary Jane Marshall. She was raised in Crestline where she graduated from high school. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Northern University and a Masters from the University of Denver. She spent a year abroad studying at the American University in Basel, Switzerland. Cass owned and operated her own interior design firm, Design Associates, and was a member of the former family business, Marshall’s Ethan Allen Gallery. She was active in a variety of community activities that included: Regional Screening Director, American Field Service; member of Zonta International; Past President of Sister Cities Association of Mansfield, Ohio; Tutor with The Literacy Connection, Mansfield/Richland Public Library; member of Literacy Volunteers of America; and Past Board Vice-President of the Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Stanley Kronenberger; her mother, Mary Jane Marshall; her mother-in-law, Eleanor Kronenberger; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stephen and Jean Kronenberger of Mansfield and their children, Karl, Craig, Paul and Marie; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Sam Tornik of Columbus, Ohio and their children, George and Stephen; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Phil Scherer of Wilson, New York and their children, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Joseph, Sarah, and Anna. She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Marshall and an infant brother.
Following Cass’s wishes, her body has been cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Friday, April 4 at 5:00 p.m. Her family will receive friends an hour before the celebration. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Literacy Connection at the Mansfield/Richland Public Library.

William Wenning
February 08, 1938 - March 31, 2003
William Wenning, 65, of Mansfield, died Monday afternoon March 31, 2003 at home unexpectedly. Mr. Wenning was born February 8, 1938 in Mansfield, being a life long resident. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High School and from Bowling Green State University. He was the Past President of the Greater Mansfield Area Safety Council, a member of Mansfield Lodge #35 F. & A.M., 32nd Degree and of the Baku Grotto.
Surviving are his wife, Beverley (Shipley) Wenning; two daughters and one son-in-law, Deborah Phillips of Kissimmee, Florida and Catherine and Mark Moore of Grove City; one step daughter and step son-in-law, Lynn and Steve Reed of Mansfield; one step son and step daughter-in-law, Robert and Carolyn Amsbaugh of Englewood; grandchildren, Caitlin and Megan Moore; Stephanie and Samantha Reed ; and Jessica and Sean McNary; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Bryce McNary; and one aunt, Vella Wenning. His parents, Howard and Irene Wenning, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Friday April 4, 2003 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with Masonic Services being held at 6:00 p.m.

Bettie Hedrick
March 30, 1916 - March 30, 2003
Bettie (Twitchell) Hedrick, 86, of Fairlawn, Ohio died Sunday, March 30, 2003 at Arbors at Fairlawn Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Hedrick was born April 22, 1916 in Mansfield, residing in the area most of her life. She graduated from Mansfield Senior High. Mrs. Hedrick retired from the United States Postal Services (Mansfield Branch) after 25 years of service. She was past president of the Mansfield Theosophical Society and a member of First Congregational Church. Betty enjoyed reading, gardening and music in her spare time.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Nathaniel and Grace Thompson of Worthington; one son and daughter-in-law, Bonnie and Tom Mitchell of Akron; one grandson, Stephan Thompson of Columbus; one granddaughter, Caitlin Mitchell of Akron; one grandson, Ian Mitchell of Akron; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Maude (Tobin) Twitchell; and four sisters, Helen Morin, Jean Porch, Amy Needy and Mary Basque.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, one hour prior to funeral services, which will be held on Friday, April 4, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Clifford D. Schutjer. Burial will be in Mansfield cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Catherine Sue Arrington
October 13, 1949 - April 09, 2003
Catherine Sue Arrington, 53, of Mansfield died Wednesday afternoon, April 9, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness. Catherine was born October 13, 1949 in Humboldt, Tennessee to the late Buddy and Lulu (Morris) Broaden. She came to Mansfield in 1957 where she attended Hedges, Sherman and Libbey High School in Toledo, Ohio. She attended Ohio State University. She worked at Swan Cleaners, Essex Wire and North American Knitting Mill. Catherine loved to play Bingo and enjoyed art and crafts.
She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Arrington, III, whom she married December 6, 1968; three daughters, Rondala Broaden, Robin, and Rachael Arrington, all of Mansfield, Eleanor Williams, of Toledo, Ohio; two sons, Robert Arrington IV and Ryan Edward Arrington, both of Mansfield; sister, Ella May (Broaden) Nettles of Louisiana; four brothers, Stanley, Charles, Joe Nesbitt, and Mike (Carla) Morris; close cousins, Clarence and Donnie Wright; sisters-in-law, Carmen (John) Wright, Barbara (Richard) Jenrett, Michele Denise Arrington, Lorraine Jones, Tracy (L.B.), Allison, Lisa (Darrell) Hill; brothers-in-law, Ray (Ethel) Arrington, Richard Arrington, Rodney Arrington, Reggie (Deanna) Arrington, Randy (Jean) Arrington; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry W. Nesbitt.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to funeral services, Saturday, April 12 at 1:30 p.m. Reed Atwater will conduct services. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family. Friends will be received at 612 Grant Street.

Michael Alan Arnold
June 17, 1985 - May 03, 2003
Michael Alan Arnold, age 17, of 2035 Greenbriar Road, died at his home Saturday, May 3, 2003. Michael was born June 17, 1985 in Mansfield and has been a resident of Ashland and Mansfield. He was a student at Lexington High School and Pioneer Joint Vocational School. Michael was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and had recently attended Crossroads Community Church and was employed at Best Buy. He had a fantastic sense of humor, enjoyed being with his friends, loved animals, working on cars, computers and his stereo.
Surviving are his parents, Kim and Deborah Arnold of Mansfield; three sisters, Amanda Rae Arnold of Mansfield, Julie Christian of North Carolina and Sara Christian of Columbus, Ohio, his maternal grandmother, Pearl Powell of Mansfield, seven uncles and five aunts.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Tuesday, May 6,2003 from 4 to 7 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. conducted by St. Peter’s Catholic Church and Rev. Tim Armstrong of Crossroads Community Church. Burial will follow at Mansfield Catholic cemetery. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Scholarship Fund or Crossroads Community Church Build Fund.

Joseph N. "Joe" Armano
June 03, 1946 - May 10, 2003
Joseph N. “Joe” Armano, 56, of Mansfield died unexpectedly Saturday, May 10, 2003 in Rochester, New York. Mr. Armano was born June 3, 1946 in Ogdensburg, New York to Nicholas J. and Geraldine (Spooner) Armano and had lived in the Mansfield area the past seven years. He was president of Custom Hoists. Joe loved boats and especially spending time with his wife, family and helping others. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Rita of Mansfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Joan of New Jersey; a daughter, Marcy Jo of Mansfield; two granddaughters, Samantha and Grace; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Judy of Ogdensburg, New York; his parents, Nicholas and Geraldine of Ogdensburg; and numerous niece and nephews.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. Private funeral services will be conducted by St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

LaVonda Isabel Cory Warne
May 18, 1899 - May 24, 2003
LaVonda Isabel Cory Warne, age 104, of 1636 State Route 314 North, Mansfield, Ohio died Saturday evening, May 24, 2003, at Galion Community Hospital. Mrs. Warne was born May 18, 1899 to Robert and Katie Tappan Cory in London, England. Her father was a British Sea Captain and her mother an American. In September of 1912 the family sailed on the steamship Baltic to New York. After arrival in New York, they boarded a train for Mansfield. LaVonda worked for the Mansfield Telephone Company as an operator before her marriage to Carl Warne may 20, 1923. She was the oldest member of the First Christian Church, and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Joy Warne of Mansfield, and Aulden and Joyce Warne of Sarasota, Florida; one daughter and a son-in-law, Sylvia and William Moritz, and daughter-in-law, Evelyn Warne all of Mansfield; nine grandchildren, George and Kris Warne of Mansfield, Diana and Joseph Honest of New Mexico, Marianne and Rev. Larry Dinovo of New York, James Warne of Mansfield, Gary and Cheryl Warne of Florida, Dennis and Monica Warne of Virginia, Michael and Brenda Warne of Michigan, Laurel and Steve Crum of New York, and Laurie Cole of Bellville; one niece, Virginia Warne Miles of Mansfield; and sixteen great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1964; a son David on March 19, 2000; her parents, and her brothers Horace, William, Herbert, Alan, and Archie.
Memorial services will be held at the First Christian Church on Sunday August 3, 2003 conducted by Rev. J. Terry Marsh, and her grandson Larry Dinovo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in care of the First Christian Church, 200 West Third Street, Mansfield. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.

Dorothy Bowers
February 25, 1919 - May 24, 2003
Dorothy Bowers, 84, of Mansfield died Saturday afternoon, May 24, 2003 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. She was born February 25, 1919 in Hardin County to Jesse and Bertha (Tallman) Oglesbee and lived in Kenton, Ohio. In 1939, she married Eldon Bernard Bowers and moved to Mansfield. They owned and operated Mansfield Neon Sign Company from 1939 until Eldon’s retirement. She was also formerly employed as a dental assistant with Dr. Dean Miller. Dorothy was an avid reader and golfer. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a member of Seroptimist Club, Order of the Eastern Star and Epworth Guild.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas K. and Mary Ann Bowers of Mansfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Ronald Bolin of Mansfield and Patricia and William Isaman of Fremont, Ohio; grandchildren, Ron Bolin, Jr. and Bernard Kim Bolin, both of Columbus, Ohio, James Bolin, Todd Bolin and Matt Bolin, all of Mansfield, William Isaman, Jr. and Derek Isaman of Columbus and Jessica Bowers of North Royalton, Ohio; and eight great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be observed. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted the family with arrangements.
