Marion S. Beer
December 16, 1912 - May 15, 2001
Marion S. Beer, 88, of 1929 Hickory Lane, Mansfield, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, following an extended illness. Mr. Beer was born December 16, 1912, in Mansfield to the late Daniel and Margaret Reed Beer. He was the owner of Marion Beer and Sons Construction and also enjoyed farming. He attended the Ridgeway First Church of God.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Sam Stover, and Marilyn and Rev. Myrl Gephart all of Mansfield; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Barbara Beer of Tucson, Arizona, Charles “Bill” and Carol Beer of Mansfield, John and Diana Beer, also of Mansfield; ten grandchildren, Dr. Timothy Beer, Kimberly Smith, Dr. Daniel Beer, Beth Bickers, Diana Lynne Smith, Mark Cline, Amy Essick, Stephen Beer, Joseph Beer and Steve Stover; and several great-grandchildren. His wife, Maple Hamrick Beer in November 1990, one son, Daniel Beer, his parents, two sisters, Margaret Darling and Leah Beer, preceded Mr. Beer in death.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to services to be held Friday, May 18, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Paul Gnagy of Butler, Rev. Ed Bare and his son-in-law, Rev. Myrl Gephart will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in Lantz cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ridgeway First Church of God.

William E. Asher
April 16, 1924 - May 31, 2001
William E."Buster" Asher, 77, of 2153 Myers Road died Thursday, May 31, 2001 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Ashland, Ohio after an extended illness. Mr. Asher was born April 16, 1924 in Pineville, Kentucky. He retired from Perfection Steel Body in Galion and was a member of Sovereign Grace Missionary Baptist Church. He served with the C.C.C. during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Smith Asher of Shelby; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Ida Linda & Roger Fuller and their children, Loretta and Farrah of Shelby, Charlotte & William Schaub and their children, Charlotte Sue, Shannon, and Billy of Kodak, Tennessee, Shirley & Clarence Smith and their daughter, Jenni of Shelby, Betty Sue Thompson and her children, Christina and Crystal of Shelby, Clara Louise & Todd McAfee, and their children, Candice and Myranda Clara, Tammi Lynn & Kevin Kipp, and their children, Shane, Caleb, and Morgan, and Teresa Jean McKown and her son, Justin Maxwell of Shelby; five great-grandchildren, Alyshia, Olivia, Kaitlyn, Jennifer, and Mackinzie; one sister, Haley Rhodes of Pineville, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lij & Ida Bell Fielden Asher; two sisters; and one brother.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Mel Kimberline of Dayton, Ohio. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Crestline. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.

Lessie M. Arnold
December 18, 1903 - July 15, 2001
Lessie M. Arnold, 97, of Mansfield died early Sunday morning, July 15, 2001 at her home. She was born December 18, 1903, in Zanesville, Ohio, to James and Sarah (Wills) Rogers. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She was very devoted to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Surviving are three daughters and their spouses, Doris Bechtel, Beverly and Leslie Williams, and Pat and Gino Colace all of Mansfield; one son, Donald Arnold of Tucson, Arizona; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Don and Kathy Arnold, Kevin and Mona Arnold, Connie and Gary Nikolaus, Patti and John Spangler, David and Carol Williams, Dale and Tracy Williams, Darlene and Robert Arnold, Tony and Mari Colace, Gino and Debbie Colace, and Teresa and John Yoha; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Sarah Rogers; her husband, Walter S. Arnold; twelve brothers and sisters; one granddaughter, Peggy (Bechtel) Endicott; one son-in-law, Harold “Curly” Bechtel; and one daughter-in-law, Norma Arnold.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Wednesday, July 18 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Thursday, July 19 at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Jon Steingass. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to North Central Ohio Hospice or Visiting Nurses Association.

Terman "Dick" Adams
August 13, 1907 - July 30, 2001
Terman “Dick” Adams, 93, of Mansfield died early Monday morning, July 30, 2001 at Woodside Nursing Home in Mt. Gilead. He was born August 13, 1907, in Mansfield to Barney and Sylvia Baker Adams. Dick was a retired mechanic previously working with Ingram Oldsmobile. He was a graduate of Shiloh High School and member of Masonic Lodge #35 F & AM. He also was a great fisherman and bowler in his earlier years.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Paul Ferguson of St. Augustine Beach, Florida; two granddaughters, Cheryl Grayczyk of Toledo and Hope Sulier of Petersburg, Michigan; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ermo Jean Adams in 1997.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park Wednesday, August 1 at 10:00 a.m.

Eugene F. Arnold
December 06, 1921 - August 12, 2001
Eugene F. Arnold, 79, of Cape Coral, Florida died Sunday, August 12, 2001 after an extended illness. Mr. Arnold was born December 6, 1921 in Shiloh, Ohio. He was retired from Roger J. Au Construction and Richland Engineering. He was a member of Merrill's Marauders during WWII serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Culling Arnold of Cape Coral, Florida; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melody & David Eggeman of Ontario and Lynn & William Harkins of Mansfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis & Pat Arnold of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Kenneth & Barbara Arnold of The Woodlands, Texas; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Ruth Baker Arnold; and a brother, Dean Arnold.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors one hour prior to memorial services Friday, August 24, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Stephen Patrick. Military services will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of Ft. Myers, Florida.

Mary (Mazza) Fanello
October 12, 1906 - August 28, 2001
Mary (Mazza) Fanello, age 94, of Lucas, died Wednesday evening August 28, 2001 at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Fanello was born October 12, 1906 in Calabria, Italy, the daughter of Rocco and Philomena Mazza. She moved to the United States at the age of four and has resided most of her life in the Mansfield/Lucas area. Mrs. Fanello was married to Joseph Fanello on April 5, 1921. She was a member of Resurrection Parrish in Lexington, Ohio. Mary enjoyed crocheting and was an excellent cook who loved having friends and family enjoy her comforting food. She always enjoyed spending quality time with her family.
Surviving are seven sons and four daughters-in-law, D.C. “Mick” & Rose Fanello of Lucas, Rocco Fanello of Mansfield, Anthony Fanello of Bardstown, Kentucky, Frank & Norma Fanello of Marion, James & Kathleen, Joseph & Sue Fanello all of Lucas and Salvador “Sam” Fanello of Mansfield; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jennie Toms of Lucas, Rose & Joe Harris of Bolivar, Ohio and Mary Lou & Karl Husty of Mansfield; two brothers, Joseph Mazza of Florida, and John Mazza of California; a sister, Jennie Lalli of Mansfield; thirty-five grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; and a dear friend Carmela Ireland. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Joseph; a brother, Dominick Mazza and a sister, Katherine Snyder and an infant sister.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Rosary services will be held Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Parrish, conducted by Father Stan Szybka. Burial will be in Mansfield cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lucas Elementary School.

Weston Glenn Baker
September 06, 2001 - September 13, 2001
Weston Glenn Baker, baby boy of Glenn and Amanda Baker died Thursday morning September 13, 2001 at Akron Children’s Hospital due to complications at birth. He was born September 6, 2001 at MedCentral Mansfield. Weston will be forever loved and missed by his family.
Besides his parents he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Lanny and Trudy Reader; paternal grandparents, Glenn and JoAnn Baker of Mansfield; great-paternal grandparents, Glenn and Martha Baker of Mansfield, and Edwin and Helen Bannworth of Florida; three aunts, Danielle, Tracy and Olivia Baker; one uncle, Samuel Baker and one cousin, Samuel Baker Jr. and several great aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Harold and Mae Reader, and Tom and Mary Baker.
Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Sunday September 16, 2001 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday September 17, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Terry Marsh. Burial will be in Mansfield Memorial Park. . Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Frederick T. Armstrong
April 28, 1926 - October 23, 2001
Frederick T. Armstrong, 75, of 402 St. Clair St. died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, October 23, 2001 at Knox Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Mr. Armstrong was born April 28, 1926 in Vanceburg, Kentucky living in the Mansfield area since 1952. He retired from General Motors after 32 years. He was a member of Springmill Church of God and the GM Retiree Club. Mr. Armstrong loved hunting, fishing and other outdoor sports. He enjoyed witnessing for Jesus and visiting shut-ins. Mr. Armstrong was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Armstrong of Mansfield; a son, Thomas Armstrong of Plymouth, Ohio; four stepsons, William Cromberg of Mansfield, Michael Stone of Clay City, Ketucky, and John Stone and Rev. Duane Stone, both of Crestline; two daughters and a son-in-law, Frieda & Tom Ballard of Flint, Michigan and Maryetta Armstrong of Zeeland, Michigan; a stepdaughter, Pamela Best of Mansfield; 10 step grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; a sister, Elnora Thurman of New Port, Virginia; two brothers, James Armstrong of Garrison, Kentucky and Harris Armstrong of Toledo, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; and very close friend, Henry Webber. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shorty & Lea Armstrong.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Dr. Bruce A. Philippi and Rev. Joyce A. Wolf. Military services will be held at Mansfield cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

John R. Paulson
October 18, 1945 - December 04, 2001
John R. Paulson, 56, of Cedar, Minnesota died Tuesday, December 4, 2001 at his home. Mr. Paulson was born October 18, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio to John O. and Bessie E. (Judy) Paulson. He was employed as a printer/pressman at John Roberts Printing.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Lee (Glass) Paulson; stepchildren, Leonard, Lester, and Lorenzo Dixon, Loretta Haubert, LaDonna Dunham, and James Glass; thirteen grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Carpenter and Beverly Johnson; four nieces and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Herb, sister, Jean, father-in-law, Julius Glass and two step-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Bellville Church of God, Monday, December 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. Monday conducted by Pastor Darrell Clemons. Graveside services will be held at Beasley cemetery in Hillsville, Virginia on Tuesday, December 11 at 1:00 p.m. Wappner Funeral Directors assisted with the arrangements.

Eileen R. Adams
October 27, 1923 - December 08, 2001
Eileen R. Adams, 78, of Mansfield died early Saturday morning, December 8, 2001 at her home. Mrs. Adams was born October 27, 1923, in Ravenna, Ohio. She was retired from the Rehabilitation Center where she worked as a transcriptionist. Eileen belonged to the First Wesleyan Church and belonged to the Women’s Ministry of her church, was a phone volunteer at the Mansfield Pregnancy Center and enjoyed crocheting and making candy with chocolates.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lloyd Adams of Mansfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry L.& Lisa Adams and Bruce A. & Brenda Adams, both of Akron, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Linda L. & Curt Eastin of Akron; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Robyn & Pete Bryant, Laura Adams, David Adams, Laun & Lynann Adams, Alexis Adams & Cara Adams, and Tana Adams, Chris, Heather and Shaun Eastin; two great-grandchildren, Cyle Adams and Connor Bryant; brother, Kenneth Pyles of Ravenna, Ohio; and two step-sisters, Evelyn Adams of Phoenix, Arizona and Alice DeUnger of Auburndale, Florida. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Grant and Minnie Haney, brother, Howard Pyles and step-brother, Grant Haney, Jr.
Friends may call at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors Tuesday, December 11 from 6-9 p.m. Additional calling hours will be observed one hour prior to funeral services Wednesday at First Wesleyan Church at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Keith Carlisle. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of First Wesleyan Church.
