Herbert L. Hathaway
May 8, 1929 - February 15, 2010

Herbert L. Hathaway, 80 of Findlay, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 at Bridge Hospice Care Center.

He was born May 8, 1929 in Wayne, to the late Arthur Hathaway and Eliza (Gunder) O’Brian.

He married Frances I. Swope on May 31, 1954 in Fort Bragg, NC. She survives in Findlay.
Also surviving are three children, Rebecca (Ray) Baughman, Findlay, Robert (Kelly) Hathaway, Jerry City, Tena (Jeff) Pettit, Moline/Walbridge; two grandchildren, Ashley and Joshua Pettit.

Herbert served in the United States Army for two years and a Korean War Veteran.

He was a fan of “Big Time Wrestling” and enjoyed gardening, fishing and farming.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 6-8 pm at ROUTSON FUNERAL CHAPEL with funeral services beginning at 7:45 pm.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Jerry City cemetery, Portage Township, where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Bridge Hospice Care Center 1900 S. Main St., Findlay, OH 45840.

Jane Ellen Hindinger
March 6, 1938 - February 11, 2010

Jane Ellen Hindinger, 71 of Mt. Blanchard, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Bridge Hospice Care Center.

She was born March 6, 1938 at home in Mt. Blanchard to the late Harold and Georgia (Yates) Bishop.

She married Max Hindinger on May 25, 1957 at the United Methodist Church.

He survives in Mt. Blanchard.

Also surviving are five children, Terry (Cheryl) Hindinger, Ronda Shepherd, both of Mt. Blanchard, Tammy Colvin, Lisa Hindinger, both of Findlay and Todd Hindinger, Holgate; five grandchildren, Bridget, Joe, Brooke, Danielle and Marcus; four siblings, Wayne (Lueva) Bishop, Findlay, Joanne McClelland, Arlington, Eric (Maggie) Bishop, Puerto Rico, Debbie (Wayne) Fischer, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Marcus Bishop.

Jane was a 1957 graduate of Mt. Blanchard High School; she then worked for Bishop Egg Factory for ten years, then Essex, Kenton, for ten years and was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Delaware TWP. Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed singing in the choir for the Methodist Church.

One of her hobbies was flower arranging and spending time with those she loved, both friends and family.

Jane will be remembered by the deep love and devotion she showed her family, which always came first.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 14, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at ROUTSON FUNERAL CHAPEL 201 Osborn Ave.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 am Monday at the United Methodist Church, Mt. Blanchard, Rev. Joseph Chrisman and Pastor Jim Williams, officiating.

Burial will follow at Krout cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to The United Methodist Church or The Nazarene Church, Mt. Blanchard, Bridge Hospice, Findlay or to the donor’s choice.

Catherine "Katie" Brant
January 16, 1920 - November 29, 2009

Catherine “Katie” Brant, 89, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Fox Run Manor Nursing Home, Findlay, OH.

Ms. Brant, affectionally known as Katie to her many friends in Findlay, was born January 16, 1920, in New York, NY.

She was the daughter of Marion Finn.

Ms. Brant was a “National Orphan Train” rider in 1922.

The “National Orphan Train” was founded by the Children’s Aid Society and transported orphan children from eastern cities to families in the Midwest from 1852 to 1929. Ms. Brant was raised by the Cronin family in Nebraska.

Ms. Brant moved to the state of Washington in 1944 and raised six children.

She also took care foster children for many years.

In the 1970’s, Ms. Brant moved to Findlay where she resided until her passing.

Ms. Brant was employed at Hill’s Department Store in Findlay for several years.

She was an avid doll and miniatures’ collector and was a past president of her local doll club.

Ms. Brant was also a Hospice volunteer in Findlay for many years.

She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Findlay.

Ms. Brant was preceded in death by her mother, her brother, Joseph Clevenger, her son-in-law, Newell Smith, and two grandchildren, Bobby and Sarah Cook.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, six children; Shannon Roushey, Richland, WA; Cathie Schmidt-Caruth, Kennewick, WA; Kevin Schmidt, Aiken, SC; Karin Cook, Kennewick, WA; Kelly Schmidt, Richland, WA; and Marion Schmidt, North Hollywood, CA.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ms. Brant’s name to Bridge Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Ln., Findlay, OH 45840 or to the National Orphan Train Complex, P.O. Box 322, Concordia, KS 66901.

A memorial Mass celebrating Ms. Brant’s life will be held at a later date.

The family of Ms. Brant would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staffs of Grand Court Assisted Living and Fox Run Manor Nursing Home, both in Findlay, for their kindness and the care given to their mother during the last three years.

The family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dr. David Ware, Findlay, who was Ms. Brant’s physician for many years, for the kindness and care that he gave their mother.

Rowena M. Welsh
June 2, 1923 ~ November 8, 2009

Mrs. Rowena M. Welsh, 86, of Findlay passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Birchaven Village.

Mrs. Welsh was born in Hancock County Ohio on June 2, 1923, the daughter of the late William and Edith (Springer) Hines.

She was the widow of Don E. Welsh.

They were married on October 12 1947. He preceded her in death in 2004.

Rowena is survived by daughters: Bonnie (Phillip) Higley of Ottowa, Ohio and Nancy Welsh of Gahanna, OH.

She was preceded in death by a sister Imo Hines and a brother Howard Hines.

Rowena was a homemaker and was a member of the Findlay Boating Club, with her late husband, Don.

They both enjoyed fishing and boating at Lake Erie.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 11, 2009 from 4-7 pm at Routson Funeral Chapel.

A Funeral Service will be held at Routson Funeral Chapel, Findlay, OH at 12 pm on Friday, November 13, 2009.

Interment will follow at Maple Grove cemetery in Findlay, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made in Rowena’s honor to National Breast Cancer Foundation, 2600 Network Blvd. Suite 300Frisco, TX 75034; or the donor’s choice of charity.

Peter E. Adamson
December 5, 1929 ~ April 28, 2010

Pete E. Adamson, 80, of Findlay, passed away at 12:07 pm at Bridge Hospice Care Center.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Mrs. Rusty (Kathy) Owens and Mrs. Steve (Suzi) Kinn both of Findlay; a son, Master Sgt. Christopher, of Honolulu; three brothers, Walter of San Diego, CA; Vern of Illinois; and Calvin of Iowa; and a sister, Mrs. Lester (Letty) Lindly, Illinois.

There will be no service.

Visitation will be held at Routson Funeral Chapel from 2-4pm on Saturday, May 1, 2010.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Bridge Hospice Care Center.

Bessie M. Redmond
March 9, 1921 ~ April 17, 2010

Bessie M. Redmond, 89, of Findlay passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010.

Bessie was born on March 9, 1921 in Clarksburg, WV.

She was the daughter of Alan Moneypenny and Millie (Bragg) Moneypenny.

Mrs. Redmond was the widow of Harry F.R. Redmond, who was a highly decorated veteran of WWII and a career army man.

The Redmonds moved to Findlay in 1972.

They were married on July 3, 1948 in Kentucky.

They had one daughter; Veronica Gerling, with whom she is survived by and a grandson; Jeffery L. (Petra) Gerling Sr. of Findlay; Three granddaughters; Karyn Gerling, Sheryl Gerling and Kathy Modica.

She was a "Rosie the Riveter" when she was 22 years old in 1943, in Bellfountaine, OH.

Before she moved to Findlay she had worked for several years as a Sears Office Supervisor.

She was a well loved volunteer for the Hancock County Senior Center.

During her residence at Birchaven Village, she loved activities with the children, bingo, and loved attending the adult day center.

Visitation will be held at Routson Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 2-4pm with religious services immediately following.

Interment will take place on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 12pm in Dayton National cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bessie's honor to The Agency on Aging, 339 E. Melrose, Findlay.

William P. Alford
July 21, 1953 ~ October 28, 2008

William Paul Alford, 55, of Findlay, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 suddenly at his residence.

Mr. Alford was born in Tiffin, Ohio on July 21, 1953, the son of the late Rush and Edith (Lindsay) Alford Jr.

William is survived by his daughters: Tanya Sylvia and Brittany Metzler; a son: Jared Alford; a brother: Dennis Alford; a sister: Barbara Alford-Hammett and five grandchildren.
He worked as a laborer for GSW.

William served in the United States Air Force.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 1 pm at Bethel-South Bend cemetery in McCutchenville, Ohio with Bishop Vince Jones officiating.
