Carl W. Steiner
(1931 - 2005)

ARCHBOLD - Carl W. Steiner, 73, of Archbold, died suddenly Tuesday noon, March 1, 2005.
Born April 10, 1931, in Fostoria, to Della (Dillon) and H. C. Steiner, he married Sue Short on June 11, 1977, and she survives.
An Archbold area resident since 1977, he was a long-distance truck driver before retiring in 1997. Since retiring he worked part-time for the Department of Natural Resources at Goll Woods. A veteran of the U.S. Army he served during the Korean War He was a member of St. JohnÕs United Church of Christ in Archbold.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Carl (and wife, Donna) Steiner Jr. of Altus, Okla., Jeffrey (Anita) Leininger of Maumee and Neil (Kimm) Leininger of Concord Township; six grandchildren; a brother, Hubert Steiner of Fostoria; three sisters, Alice Hendricks of Vanlue and Verna Smelser and Corrine Bauer, both of Fostoria.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Wilbur Steiner; and two sisters, Alma Insley and Carrie Frizzell.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-8 p.m. in the Short Funeral Home, Archbold.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. John's United Church of Christ with the Rev. David A. Voll to officiate. Interment will follow in the Archbold Cemetery with graveside military services by the American Legion B.L.W. Post 311.

Mercil M. Mason

FARMER - Mercil M. Mason, 89, of Farmer, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Cameron Memorial Hospital, Angola, Ind.
Arrangements are pending at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville.

Thomas E. Elliott

PIONEER - Thomas E. Elliott, 60, of Pioneer and formerly of Montpelier, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at his residence, following an apparent heart attack.
Services are pending at Thompson Funeral Home-Montpelier.

Charles Scott Harrington
(1931 - 2005)

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - Charles Scott Harrington, 73, died March 13, 2005 in Zephyrhills.
Born April 7, 1931, in North Adams, Mich., he was the son of Florence (Johnson) and Leonard C. Harrington.
He had served in the Korean War and formerly had lived in Montpelier, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife Charlotte, two sons, Greg (wife Marie) Harrington and Douglas Harrington of Zephyrhills; four grandchildren, a brother Leonard Neil (and wife, Jenny) Harrington and a sister Mrs. Donald (Doris) Andrews, all of Montpelier, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert, Thomas, Louie, Omer and Barney Harrington; and sisters Jackie Harrington, Dolly Meidt and Mary Southworth.
Services will be held in Bushnell, Fla.

Robert Corwin Grimes
(1927 - 2005)

LINCOLN, Ill. - Robert Corwin Grimes, 77, of Lincoln, died early Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.
Born April 2, 1927, in Montpelier, Ohio, to Grace A. (Nugent) and Cecil D. Grimes, he married Helen M. Burnett in 1960, in Jacksonville and she survives.
A retired teacher and coach at Hartsburg-Emden High School, he was a member of Hartsburg Methodist Church.
He had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a lifetime member and past commander of Emden Post No. 506 American Legion of Emden.
He received his B.S. degree from Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, David (and wife, Elizabeth) Asher of Clearwater, Fla., Jeff Grimes of Centerhill, Fla., Donald C. (Alexis) Asher of Hartsburg and Todd (Linda) Grimes of Azle, Texas ; two daughters, Mrs. Tim (Katherine) Radenmaker of Ohio, Ill. and Mrs. David (Mary) James of Arlington, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Jane) Storrer of Montpelier; and a brother, Bill Grimes of Savannah, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael; and a brother, Frank Grimes.
Graveside services were held Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Hartsburg Union Cemetery. Full military rites were accorded by Emden Post No. 506 American Legion.
Memorials may be made to Atlanta Fire and Rescue, American Legion Post No. 506 of Emden, Ill., or Defiance College.

Charles E. Gorgas

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. - Charles E. Gorgas, 91, of Merrillville and formerly of Montpelier, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005.
A member of American Legion Post 17, he was a World War II veteran and a retired yard switchman from EJ&E Railroad with 35 years of service.
Surviving are a son, Greg (and wife, Kathy) Gorgas of Lowell; daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Cheri) Seiler of N. Ridgeville, Ohio; grandsons, Brad (Heather) Gorgas of Acton and Michael Gorgas of Lowell; two great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; sisters, Ruth Mocherman, Maxine Sapp and Helen Hass; and brothers, Howard and Donald Gorgas.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. in the Pruzin Brothers Chapel. Graveside services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, Ohio.

Zola M. Elliott
(1923 - 2005)

DEFIANCE - Zola M. Elliott, 81, of Defiance, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance.
Born Dec. 26, 1923, in Defiance County, to Naomie (Sines) and Otto Koeppe, she was married to Gerald Elliott from 1947-1998.
A home caregiver for over 50 years, she was a member of the Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren in Defiance County and the Defiance County Senior Center.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Ura) Martin of Defiance; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband, Gerald Elliott; a brother, Olan Koeppe; and a sister, Lillian Lybarger.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. in the Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Evansport Cemetery, Defiance County.
Memorials may be made to Hospice, The Caring Way, of Defiance or to the Defiance County Senior Center.
