Edna Rose Roether

Edna Rose Roether, age 86, passed away on Monday, January 29th, 2007 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She was born on July 25, 1920 to the late Thomas M. and Edna (Dindal) Haley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Earl "Rusty" Roether, brothers Thomas and James Haley and sister Mary Jane Smith. Survived by her 10 beloved children Susan (Vilmos) Zsigmond of Venice, CA., Mary Lee Zahler of Findlay, Roseanne Roether of Austin, TX., Julie (Bruce) Deppen of Findlay, Patricia (Jerry) Miller of Alsea, OR., Theresa (Mark) Monday of San Ramon, CA., Barbara (Mark) McNamara of San Francisco, CA., Thomas Roether of Findlay, John Roether of Portland, OR., and David Roether of Findlay. Also surviving are her sisters Theresa Eier and Patricia Alge of Findlay and 19 grandchildren Emily (Scott) Stanton, Mercedes (George) Hughes, Beth Ann (Chris) Merritt, Melanie (Arthur) Gold, Amelia Spyridon, Adrianna Deppen, Jacob Deppen, Grant Deppen, Zachary Roether, Jasmine Mitchell, Justin Roether, Jason Roether, Megan Roether, Kelsey Roether, Hannah Monday, Sarah Monday, Shelby Roether, David Roether and Dashiell McNamara and 12 great-grandchildren. Edna worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone company and The Courier for many years. She was a faithful member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. She proudly served her country during WWII in the Navy Waves. Visitation wil be held FRIDAY, February 2nd, 2007 at the COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, from 4:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM on SATURDAY, February 3rd, 2007 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (Downtown), 422 Western Ave. Interment will follow at St. Michael's cemetery where full military rites will be conduced by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Rose to the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library, 206 Broadway, Findlay, OH 45840 or St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 750 Bright Rd., Findlay Ohio 45840.

Ruth Sullenberger

Ruth Sullenberger, age 93, passed away on Wednesday January 31st 2007 at Carey Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center She is preceded in death by Survived by Friends may call SATURDAY February 3rd 2007 at the WEST INDEPENDENCE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 22876 US 224, from 10:00-11:00AM with a at 12:00 AM. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on SATURDAY February 3rd 2007 at West Independence United Methodist Church 22876 US 224,, Reverend Lowell Reeder and . Interment will follow at the Union cemetery.

W. Dale Ebersole

William Dale Ebersole, Sr., age 91, of Findlay went to be with his Lord at 9:30AM Monday, January 29, 2007 at Birchaven Retirement Village. He was born August 8, 1915 in Washington Twp., Hancock Co., Ohio to the late Herbert H. and Jennie M. (Newhouse) Ebersole. On January 29, 1939 he married Ruth V. Meyer and she preceded him in death on July 17, 1988; he then married Coral "Marie" Dorner on October 26, 1991 and she survives. Also surviving are: sons, Dale (Celia) Ebersole, Jr. of Perrysburg; Lynn (Charlotte) Ebersole of Cincinnati, Ohio and daughter, Mrs. William (Carolyn V.) Gest of Fountain Hills, AZ; five grandchildren, Bryan D. Ebersole of Federal Way, WA; Alexander M. Ebersole of Irving, TX; Nathan A. Ebersole of Hamilton; and Karen M. Stauffer of Cincinnati; Darren W. Gest of Fountain Hills, AZ; three great-grandchildren, Laura E. and Andrew D. Stauffer and Lila Oriana Velaquez-Ebersole;step-children, Ronald (Colleen) Dorner of Findlay; Cheryl (Michael) White of Findlay; 6 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild. Two brothers, Don and Arthur Ebersole preceded him in death. Dale was a retired carpenter. He was a member of First Lutheran Church where he was active in the choir, was a Barbershopper since 1948, a volunteer for Chopin Hall receiving the United Way Spotlight Volunteer in August of 2006 for his work there. He was also a member of the American Bell Association, the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and a lifetime member of the Carpenter's Union. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, February 3, 2007 at First Lutheran Evangelical Church with Pastor Thomas Arheit officiating. Burial will be in Bechtel cemetery, Van Buren. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:30AM Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice or to First Lutheran Evangelical Church in his memory. Arrangements in care of COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.

Isabelle B. Baughman

Isabelle B. Berno Baughman, 80, of Findlay, passed away at 2:10 AM, Tuesday, March 2, 2011 at Heritage Manor. She was born on March 9, 1930 in Topeka, KS to the late Hugh and Beatrice (Bair) Berno. She was retired from RCA. Arrangements were entrusted to COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.

Ruth Ann Alspach

Ruth Ann Alspach, age 83, of Findlay died at 10:58PM Thursday, February 1, 2007 at the Heritage Care Center. She was born in Findlay on May 5, 1923 to the late Philip and Fern (Shroy) Wolfrom. She married Raymond E. Alspach on April 14, 1973 and he preceded her in death on November 28, 1987. She is survived by sister-in-law and dear friend, Marty Alspach of Tiffin; niece Kathy Stephens of New Mexico, nephews Gregg Alspach of Canton, MI and Cliff Alspach of Tiffin. Ruth Ann was a 1943 graduate of Findlay High School; she had retired from Ohio Bell in 1971 following 32 years of service, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Findlay. Visitation will be held SATURDAY, February 10, 2007 at the COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, from 12:00-1:00 PM. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm with Reverend Linda Rahe, officiating. A private interment will take place at a later date.

Donna Guarniere

Donna Guarniere, age 70, of rural Alvada died at 8:30AM Friday, February 2, 2007 at her daughter's residence. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 1, 1937 to the late Paul C. and Virginia (Fulks) Collins. She married Robert 'Butch' Guarniere and he preceded her in death in 1986. Surviving are: daughter, Lisa (Harlan) Hoy of rural Alvada; sons, Danny and Tony (Susie) Guarniere, both of Garfield Heights; grandchildren, Katie and Ryan (Jill) Wilson; Ashley; Aaron and Tyler Guarniere and great-grandson, Jacob Wilson. A Memorial Mass will be held in her memory at 9:30AM Saturday, February 10, 2007 at St. Therese Church in Garfield Heights. Burial will follow at Crown Hill cemetery, Twinsburg, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay, Ohio 45840. Arrangements in care of COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.

Delbert Conard Cates

Delbert Conard Cates, age 64,of 107 Brown Street in Benton Ridge died at 10:30pm on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at his residence. He was born on March 31, 1942, in Reed City, Michigan to the late Delbert Orian and Edna (Reed) Cates. He married Joyce Ann (Kimbler) on July 16, 1966, and she survives. He is also survived by a son: James (Kimberly) Cates of Benton Ridge and a daughter: Heather (Kevin) Braker of Findlay. He has a brother: Rockford Neil (Linda) Cates of Willis, Texas and a sister: Diane Yocum of Spring Hill, Kansas. He also has 3 grandsons: Nathan, Ethan, and Ryan Cates. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Michelle Cates. He was retired from management in manufacturing and ran an apartment complex. He is a member of Trinity Baptist Church and loved to fish, garden and read. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Monday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay where funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday. Pastor David A. Shaffer will officiate and interment will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday at Crawford County Memory Gardens. Memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.

Kathryn "Kay" Poole

Kathryn "Kay" L. Poole, 85, of Arlington, died at 2:19 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2007 at the Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. She was born on October 31, 1921 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Walter A. and LaMora (Snively) Beatty. She married J. George Poole on December 12, 1942 in Dayton and he died February 25, 1998. Kay attended Seven Mile High School and Miami University where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She lived 25 years in Van Buren where she served as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher and youth group leader at the Van Buren Presbyterian Church. She also served as a leader in Girl Scouts. In 1968 the family moved to Arlington, where they joined the Good Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church and belonged to the Esther Circle. Kay was a homemaker and one of the proprietors of the Arlington Natural Gas Company. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star #265 in North Baltimore and a former school board member of the Van Buren High School. She is survived by sons, G. Michael of Van Buren, Timothy L. of Van Buren and J. Thomas of Arcadia; a daughter, Patricia L. (Thomas A.) Heavrin of Arlington; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 5, 2007 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Reverend Steve Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Bechtel cemetery, Allen Township. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Arlington in her memory.

Margaret M. Rhoten

Margaret M. Rhoten, age 91, of rural Arcadia, passed away at 5:30 pm Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria. On April 23, 1915 Margaret was born in Arcadia to the late John and Nettie (Brookman) Snyder. She married Carey "Mike" Rhoten on November 19, 1933 and he died July 27, 1975. Surviving Margaret is a son: James A. (Linda) Rhoten of Findlay, daughter: Nancy L. (Gene) Lewis of rural Arcadia, daughter-in-law: Marlene Dooling of MI, grandchildren: Deb (Don) Danko, Kim (Bill) Dangleis, Cindi (Jeff) Curry, Donald (Betty) Rhoten, Johnny Dooling, Brad (Karla) Lewis, Robert Rhoten and Alisha Rhoten (fiance Chad Wlodarek). Also great grandchildren: Billy, Kelly, Nick, Ian, Samantha, Ridge and Connor, great great-grandchild Kaylee and sister: Wilma Park of Kenton. Margaret was preceded in death by her son: Donald D. Rhoten, grandson: Jimmy Rhoten, great-grandson: Dean Dangleis,sister: Dortha Reid, and brother Lawrence L. Snyder. Margaret was a homemaker, member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Arcadia, Dorcas Circle of the church, and Laff-A-Lot Club. She graduated in 1933 from Arcadia High School enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling, traveling and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be TUESDAY, February 6, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME and one hour prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church. The service will be at 10:30 am WEDNESDAY at Trinity Lutheran Church, Arcadia with Rev. William P. Schultz officiating burial will follow at the Arcadia cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Margaret to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 18974 SR 12, Arcadia, Ohio 44804 or Bridge Home Health and Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Ln., Findlay, Ohio 45840.

Kathryn E. Bloom

Kathryn E. Bloom, 85, of Findlay, died Saturday morning, September 27, 2008 at Bridge Hospice Care Center of Findlay. Kathryn was born April 17, 1923 in Findlay to John D. & Ethel M. (Foreman) Hartman. She married Richard F. Bloom March 21, 1963 and he survives. Also surviving are children, Ray A. (Gail) Hecker of Findlay and Deborah F. Montooth (Bob Hixson) of Carey, Calista J. Grogan of Toledo and Steve M. Bloom of Findlay; five grandchildren, Andrew, Mckenzie, Carley, Ryan and Joy; two sisters, Geneva F. Haley of Findlay and Patricia A. Kimberly of Greenville, OH; and a brother, Richard L. Hartman of Colorado. Mrs. Bloom was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Hindall and Thelma Vanlue. Kathryn was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Kathryn was part owner and worked at the former Findlay Hardware for over 20 years. She also worked at the former Kroger Cleaners and retired in 1988 from the Whirlpool Cafeteria. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 at the funeral home with Rev. Gregory W. Creech officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 218 East Sandusky St., Findlay or Bridge Home Health & Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay.

Helen L. Ritter

Our loving daughter and sister, Helen Ritter, 60, of Findlay, went to be with Jesus on September 29, 2008. She is the daughter of Ruth Ritter and the late Howard Ritter. Helen is survived by brothers: Donald (Becky) Ritter, Jerry (Susan) Ritter, Dennis Ritter; sisters: Deborah (Jim) Seems and Lauri Ritter. She is also survived by special friends, Cathy Logan, Tex Dunning, Barb Myers, Ali Wilkins and Linda Holmes. Helen had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Albert D. and Luella Courtney; and her paternal grandparents, Cy and Helen Ritter, and her brother, Jackie Ritter. Helen attended Blanchard Valley Industries for many years. Through Caring Supported Independence (CSI) and her caregivers she was given love, tenderness and kindness. Helen touched many people with her special smile, hugs and kisses. She was our special angel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2008, with Pastor David Cass officiating, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Thursday prior to the service at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made in care of Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, in her memory.

Anne M. Bixby

Anne M. Bixby, age 95, of Findlay, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Birchaven Health Care Center. She was born on December 10, 1912, in Maidstone-Kent, England to the late Charles F. and Heneritta (Whatman) Thomas. Anne married Lee E. Bixby on September 22, 1935, and he preceded her in death on December 4, 1996. She is survived by two children; Lee A. Bixby of Findlay and Judi B. Crates of rural Arcadia, a sister; Emily Gearhart of Shelby, OH, six grandchildren; Lori Bixby of Troy, Kerry Bixby-Perry of Batavia, Kelly Bixby of Milford, Erin Bixby of Columbus, Andrew (Lisa) Crates of Arlington and Matthew Crates of rural Arcadia, four great-grandchildren; Megan, Matthew and Austin Perry and Morgan Crates. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers; Charles, Arthur and Alfred Thomas, a granddaughter Ashley Crates and great-grandson Alexander Perry. Anne was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church for many years and was a long time member of the Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2008, from 2:00-8:00 PM at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. A family funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Knollcrest cemetery, East of Findlay. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Anne to Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary.
