Linda L. Reamsnyder

Linda L. Reamsnyder, 52, of Marysville, OH and formerly of Findlay, OH, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, in Westerville, OH. She was born on April 29, 1958, in Findlay, OH to Ross A. and Margaret E. (Borgelt) Reamsnyder. Linda was a graduate of Findlay High School and The Ohio State University. She was active in her school days as a gymnast, cheerleader and musician. Her career was in marketing services in Columbus with Ohio State Life, Gates McDonald and, most recently, Nationwide Better Health. Linda was known as a dedicated worker and caring mentor to her team members. Linda was an avid sports fan, enjoyed gardening, and was a member of the Union County Master Gardeners. She is survived by her mother, Margaret E. (Borgelt) Reamsnyder, Findlay; brothers: Richard (Doris) Reamsnyder of Findlay, Dennis (Anne) Reamsnyder of Westerville, and Thomas Reamsnyder of Rawson; nephews and niece: Lee, Joseph, Jacob (Megan) and Mary Reamsnyder, all of Westerville; and many caring friends from work and childhood days. She was preceded in death by her father, Ross A. Reamsnyder. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky Street, Findlay, 45840. Pastor Robert Krueger officiating. Vitiation will be held 2 hours (1:00-3:00 p.m.) prior to the service on Saturday, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or American Heart Association, in her memory.

Alice B. Painter

Alice B. Painter, 96 of Ft. Myers, FL went to be with the Lord February 23, 2011. Alice was born in Fostoria, OH on April 12, 1914, daughter of the late John & Chloe (Myers) Nau. Alice moved to Ft. Myers from Fostoria in 1979. She was a member of McGregor Baptist Church since 1980. Alice is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Robert E. and Beverly Painter of Pandora, OH, Derol R. and Carol Painter of Ft. Myers; her 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Lynn in 1954, and her husband Robert W. in 2006. Funeral Service celebrating her life will be conducted at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 - 2:00. Pastor Lowell Reeder will officiate and interment will follow at Union cemetery. In her memory, memorial contributions may be made to Whisper Mountain Ministries 2240 Long Creek Rd. Robbinsville, NC 28771, or McGregor Baptist Church 3750 Colonial Blvd. Ft. Myers, FL 33966. Raymond L. Kimmel

Raymond L. Kimmel, 81, of Findlay, passed away at 9:45 AM, Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Bridge Hospice Care Center,Findlay. He was born on July 7, 1929 in Findlay, OH to the late Laurence R. and Helen (Lunn) Kimmel. He married D. Ellen Thomas on August 27, 1950 and she survives. Raymond is also survived by three sons: Keith K. (Linda K.) Kimmel of Findlay, Larry R. (Pamela J.) Kimmel of Fairfield, OH and Mark W. (Carol A.) Kimmel of Petersburg,VA; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary (Jack) Harris of Findlay. Ray retired from the Findlay Fire Department after 30 years of service. He served in the United States Army from June 1948-1950 and 18 months of that time was served in Germany in the Occupational Forces. He was an assistant Boy Scout Master of the fire department troop. He was a member of The First Christian Church of Findlay, Masonic Lodge #227, DAV Buddy 43, Findlay/Hancock County Military Association, Blanchard Indian Pow Wow Club, volunteered many hours at the former Hancock County Home and was the only male President of the County Home Auxiliary. Ray was a 12 gallon blood donor to the American Red Cross. He ran a ceramic tile and antenna business for 40 years. He was an avid fan of the Findlay Trojans, Findlay Oilers, and Ohio State Buckeyes and he loved woodworking and Native American History. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay with Pastor Mike VanDenEynde, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM, on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Houcktown cemetery, Jackson Twp. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health & Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay.

Philip A. Cook

Philip Cook, 51, of Findlay, passed away at 11:55 AM, Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Fox Run Manor in Findlay. He was born in Findlay, Ohio on Dec. 19, 1959, to the late Richard A. and Eunice (Hart) Cook. He is survived by three daughters: Amber M. Cook, Tia G. Cook and Amanda L. Knight all of Findlay. He also has a brother: Steven W. (Connie) Cook of Findlay and an aunt: Paula (Larry) Butcher of Kentucky and 8 grandchildren. He attended Findlay High School and was involved in construction being the owner/operator of PC Builders. He was a member of the Findlay Moose Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay where funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday. Pastor David Spence will officiate and interment will follow at Maple Grove cemetery. The family has requested that memorials be given to establish an educational fund for his grandchildren.

Gordon Charles Hill

Gordon Charles Hill, age 84, of Findlay passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center. He was born in Staples, Minnesota on August 16, 1926 to Charles and Mildred (Stolhanske) Hill. He married Peggy Paul of Findlay on July 1, 1951, and they celebrated 59 years together. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Norman, who was killed in action in Korea in 1950. He is survived by his wife, sons: Steven (Deanna) of Arcadia; Michael (Jill) of Dacula, GA; Gregory (Julie Hannah) of Braselton, GA; and Gary (Natalie) of Leesville, SC. Also surviving are grandsons: Eric, Daniel, Jacob, John, Micah and Jared Hill; granddaughters: Lauren, Makenna, Megan Hill, Brianna Smith and Shayle Welch; one great-grandchild, Javonte; a sister, Geraldine (James) Montgomery; a brother, Robert (Susan) Hill both of Sturgis, MI; and former daughter-in-law, Mary Hill. He graduated from Montpelier High School and attended St. Ambrose University of Davenport, IA. He was the owner and operator of the Doerty Printing Co. in Findlay for 38 years before his retirement in 1992. For many years, he also published TV Time, a weekly newspaper and TV schedule and will be remembered by many former high school athletes for his pictorial coverage of all sports, especially those in the Blanchard Valley Conference. He was a former member of the Hancock County Sheriff Auxiliary, Findlay Kiwanis Club, Findlay Chamber of Commerce and was a scratch golfer for many years. He was a 58 year member of the Findlay Masonic Lodge #227, Royal Arch Masons Chapter #58, and Valley of Toledo Shrine; a past noble grandmaster of I.O.O.F. Lodge #73, and a member of Central Church of Christ where he had served as choir member, Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, March 10, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Rev. J.D. Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay. Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay, and 1 hour (12-1 p.m.) prior to the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice and/or Central Church of Christ, Findlay.

Nettie Mae Peterman

Nettie Mae Peterman, 73, of Findlay, passed away at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, March 1,2011 at her residence. She was born on September 3, 1937 in Findlay to the late Paul Earl and Helen Marie (Moore) Courtney. She married Richard L. Peterman, Sr. on June 1, 1955 and he preceded her in death on April 23,1997. She is survived by four sons: Earl Lee of Englewood, OH, Richard Lee, Jr. of Findlay, Carl G. of Findlay, and Jesse Wayne (JayLynn) of Forest; three daughters: Rose Marie (Bevon) Niswander of Helena, Rose Anna (Willard) Keaton of Findlay, and Cheryl Jo (Kenneth) Eichler of Colorado Springs, CO; three brothers: William Courtney, Jim (Debbie) Courtney and Terry Courtney all of Findlay; three sisters: JoAnn Siferd, Nancy (Jack) Eisaman and Ruby Clark all of Findlay; one step-brother, Paul Courtney; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Sue Peterman and a sister, Gladys Jean Courtney. She had worked at Findlay City Laundry and prior to that at St. Catherine's Nursing Home and attended Trinity Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 4, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Pastor Michael Spann will officiate with burial to follow at Tawa cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice.

Carol Kay Mitchell

Carol Kay Mitchell, 68, of Carmel, IN and formerly of Findlay, died at 12:05 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at her residence. She was born in Findlay, to the late Scott and Florence (Fisher) Firestone. She married Michael J. Mitchell on September 22, 1962, and he survives. Also surviving are sons: Michael K. (Kim) of Cornelius, NC and Anthony "Tony" (Theresa) of Indianapolis, IN; a sister, Marilyn (Keith) Willford of Findlay; grandsons: Anthony and Hayden. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Rev. Msgr. Michael Hohenbrink officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic cemetery. Visitation will be held 3 hours (9 a.m-12 p.m.) prior to the service at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to the IU Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 1367, Indianapolis, IN 46206, and/or St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, in her memory.

Gilbert "Gil" L. Maienknecht

Gilbert (Gil) Layne Maienknecht, 61, of Bowling Green Ohio died Friday March 4th, 2011 surrounded by family. He was born on February 16th, 1950 in Mount Pleasant Michigan to Dr. Gilbert and Frances Maienknecht. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Bonnell), sons Peter (Melissa) and Brian; grandchildren Amaya and Torrey as well as his parents, his sister Julie (Donald) Morath, and many nieces and nephews. Gil is a graduate of the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and earned his master's degree from Indiana University. Gil's career began as a teacher and coach, later an investment professional, and most recently managing director with McDonald Partners. Gil's passion for sports was evidenced as a player, a coach, a fan, and his delight in guiding his sons development as athletes. Gil loved gardening, collecting,and spending time with his beloved family and friends. Gil's grandchildren were the joy of his life. He was a courageous, loyal, generous, and fun loving man. His spirit will remain in our hearts forever. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Aloysius Church in Bowling Green on Friday March 11th at 11am. Immediately following the service, the family will be having a luncheon and receiving friends at the Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research, an organization for which Gil was an active fundraiser. Arrangements are being handled by COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, Ohio 45840.

Andrea Dee Powell

Andrea Dee (Rogers) Powell, 34, passed away at 8:28 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She was born on January 28, 1977, to Robert M. "Bobby" and Sue A. (Crawford) Rogers in Lima, OH. She married Marcus Powell, who survives in Findlay, and they later divorced. She is survived by her mother, Sue Crawford Rogers of Findlay; maternal grandmother, Thelma Crawford of Findlay; son, Landon Powell; daughter Zoe Powell both of Findlay; aunt, Clara Angelyn of TX; and beloved aunt, Carla Crawford of Findlay. She was also preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Blaine Crawford and paternal grandparents: Clarence Rogers and Edythe Bracken. Andrea was a 1995 graduate of Findlay High School and attended the University of Findlay for three years. She was previously the Marketing Sales Manager for Holiday Inn Express and Country Inn & Suites in Findlay. She loved her pet Dachsund's and Great Dane. Andrea was a devoted mother and cherished her children more than life itself. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME.

James Allen Blake

James Allen Blake, 74, of Kettering, OH, passed away after a long battle with several health issues on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, OH. He was born July 2, 1936 in Arcadia, Ohio to the late Louis W. and Madelene Bushong Blake. He attended Arcadia Local School and graduated in 1954. He was united in marriage to Martha Jane Nicklaus on October 28, 1955 in Bucyrus, Ohio. In 1958 Jim began working for Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria, Ohio where he retired after 34 years of service. Jim then began his retirement days creating crafts for family members and close friends. Jim was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Arcadia, Ohio. Jim is survived by his wife, Martha, his daughter Cindy (James) Alspach; son James L. (Anette); daughter Sharon (Anthony) Mosconi; and son Louis W.; eight grandchildren, Jamie (Jessica) Alspach; Jessica Blake; Darrell (Joe) Blake; Blake Morelock; Brenden Blake; Makenzie Blake; Maria Mosconi and Gabriella Mosconi; one sister Barbara Ebersole and one brother-in-law Chuck (Jan) Nicklaus. He is further survived by two Aunts, Ethel Bushong and Katie Bushong, nieces Stephanie Ebersole; Tracy (Jim) Nicklaus Spragg; Elizabeth (Jeff) Nicklaus Wuowinen; nephews Aaron (Carol) Ebersole, Jeff (Brenda) Nicklaus; Scott (Lori) Nicklaus; Sean (Lori) Nicklaus; Cousins, Robert (Shirley) Blake; David (Janet) Corbin; Robert (Karen) Bushong; Tom (Sally) Bushong; Gary (Linda) Bushong; Steve (Linda) Bushong; Carol (Denny) Moore; Sandy (Steve) Hauser as well as many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by aunts, uncles, cousins and recently his daughter in-law Lisa Brison Blake. Relatives and friends are welcome at the COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky Street, Findlay, OH 45840 on Thursday, March 10th from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held for James A. Blake on Friday, March 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 18974 Ohio 12, Arcadia, OH 44804. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to assist with medical costs and funeral arrangements.

Myda Jane Badertscher

Myda Jane Badertscher, 88, of rural Bluffton, OH passed away at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green, OH. Myda Jane was born on February 21, 1923, to the late Byron and Mary (Lehman) Manges in Orange Twp., Hancock County, OH. Myda Jane married Wayne L. Badertscher on November 22, 1951, and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2008. Myda Jane is survived by two sons: Lynn (Ann) Badertscher of Buena Park, CA and Roger Badertscher of Ft. Wayne, IN; two daughters: Jane (Douglas) Huston of Bluffton, OH and Sandra (Kurt) Nichols of Troy, OH; brother, Byron Dean (Sue) Manges of Ottawa, OH; two sisters: Roberta McKinney of Columbus, OH and Marilyn (Ronald) Heldman of Bluffton, OH; eight grandchildren: Douglas Huston, Jr., Brandon Huston, Becky Anderson, Heidi Badertscher, Katie Badertscher, Ryan Nichols, Jordan Nichols and Dylan Nichols; and two great-grandchildren: Kailee Huston and Landen Huston. Myda Jane was a 1941 graduate of Mt. Cory High School. She had attended Bowling Green State University. She formerly worked at the Bluffton Elementary School cafeteria for 17 years, Lima Tank Plant, and Triplett Corporation. Myda Jane was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton, where she was in the choir and Women's Guild. Myda Jane was also a former 4-H advisor for Klassy Klippers and Gold Star Clubs and member of the Orange Township Women's Club. Myda Jane loved to bake pies, flower gardening, and reading. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay and one hour (9:30-10:30 a.m.) prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton. Reverend Eric Rummel will officiate and burial will follow in Thompson cemetery, Orange Twp., Hancock County, OH. Memorials may be made in her memory to Emmanuel United Church of Christ Youth Missions.

Doris Mae Smith

Doris M. (Cain) Smith, friend, companion and loving, faithful wife of Carl C. Smith, passed away peacefully at 5:00 PM, Friday, March 11th at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Blanchard Valley Hospital. Doris was born March 26, 1924 to Alva L. Cain (deceased) and Ima (Barkimer) Cain (deceased). She married Carl C. Smith on January 3, 1944 and they shared 67 years together. Other survivors include two sons, Craig C. (Barbara) of Elmore, Ohio and Randolph A. (Hazel) of Findlay, Ohio. Four grandchildren, Beverly, Carl, Christopher and Robin and twelve great-grandchildren. She has two sisters, Helen (Cain) Nemire, Tiffin, Ohio who preceded her in death and Connie (Cain) Crawford, Colton, Ohio. Doris was a homemaker. She was a member of Howard United Methodist Church since 1939 where she was active in various committees and projects through the years. She had also been an active member of the League of Women Voters serving on various studies of the League. She was also an active Real Estate Salesperson with Cain Realty and Slough Realty. She was a fifty year member of Order of Eastern Stars. She was active in the Cub Scout Organization. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 15th at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Pastor Jason Wellman, officiating with burial to follow at Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay. Memorial contributions can be made to Howard United Methodist Church and/or Bridge Home Health and Hospice.
