Martha Onalee Taylor

Martha Onalee Taylor, 89, of Findlay, died at 5:25 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2011, at Birchaven Care Center, Findlay. She was born on June 8, 1921, in Arcadia to the late Earl and Troas (Altman) Baker. She married LeRoy Taylor on January 1, 1941, and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1999. She is survived by her sons: Daryl Taylor of Huber Heights, Greg (Rhonda) Taylor of Sanger, TX and Dana Taylor of Lansing, MI; a daughter, Rebecca (John) McClincy of Findlay; a brother, Cloyce (Janet) Baker of Van Buren; sister: Donelda Goldfarb of NC and Maxine (Charles) Stukins of Englewood, OH; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Delton Baker and a sister, Luella Whitman. Onalee was the former owner of the Seagull Sportswear Shop in Manitou Beach, MI. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2011, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Chaplain Michael Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Bechtel cemetery, Allen Township. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice, in her memory.

Donald G. Friar

Reverend Donald G. Friar, 76, of Findlay passed away at 9:24 PM, Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Bridge Hospice Care Center. Pastor Don was born on June 22, 1934 in Oklahoma City, OK to the late Monroe and Jesse R. (Bannister) Friar. Pastor married Betty R. Benton on September 3, 1955 and she survives. Pastor is also survived by three sons: Rick G. (Suzi) Friar of Ft. Bragg, CA, Mark M. (Sheri) Friar of Findlay, and Rodney A. Friar of Findlay; four grandchildren: Alisha K., Travis A., Tyler A., and Tanner A. Friar; two brothers: Mark Friar of Oklahoma City, OK; Martin Friar of Shawnee, OK; and a sister, Roxie Chambers of Shawnee, OK. Don was preceded in death by five sisters: Evelyn Franklin, Frances Conners, Gladys Mezzill, Bessie Botsford, Roselee Friar and daughter-in-law Amanda R. Friar. Rev. Friar was the former pastor for 19 years at Blanchard Avenue Pentacostal Church of God. Pastor Don was the Founder and Pastor of Harvest Ministries International on George St for 10 years. He currently is the Bishop for Harvest Ministries International. Rev Friar's life was based around preaching and teaching the word. Visitation will be from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME and for one hour (1:00 - 2:00 p.m.) prior to the service. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, with Bishop Charles Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay. Memorial contributions can be made to Harvest Ministries International.

Norma Naomi Tesnow

Norma N. Tesnow, 84, formerly of Arcadia died at 11:50 AM Sunday, November 14, 2010 at The Heritage. She was born to the late James Everett and Faye (Uhlenhaker) Akerman on April 4, 1926 in Hancock County, Ohio. She married Harold Louis Tesnow in 1949. They were married for 52 years. He died in 1992. She is survived by two sons: Charles L. (Vickie) Tesnow of Capac, MI; Dennis A. Tesnow of Arcadia, OH; and one daughter, Lou Ann (Donald) Zirger of Arcadia, OH. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Michele (Chris) Rottman, Jason (Jody) Tesnow, Nichole Tesnow, Ryan Tesnow, Tony (Jackie) Tesnow, Tommy Tesnow, Matt Tesnow, Patrick (Hethrye) Tesnow, Chuckie (Emily) Tesnow, Tiffany (Jay) Donaldson and Brock Zirger. There is also fourteen great-grandchildren: Logan, Erin and Addison Rottman; Skielar and Brody Tesnow; Mackenzie Rose Tesnow; Kelsey, Bailey and Joey; Piper and Phoebe Tesnow; and Dominick, Dino and Casey Donaldson. She is also survived by a brother, Bill (Donna) Akerman of Arlington, OH. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Tesnow; a daughter-in-Law, Joan Tesnow and four brothers: Dana, John, Gene and Ray Akerman. She retired from Findlay Industries in 1991. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay, OH, officiated by Pastor Ray Kane. Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay, OH. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Foster Forest Ford

Foster Forest Ford, age 90 of Arcadia, passed away peacefully at 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, in his home. He was born on May 12, 1920, in Findlay to the late Alfred and Alice (Keister) Ford. On May 26, 1946, he married LeJean Mae Farthing, to whom he expressed his love daily and cherished dearly for 64 years, and she survives. Mr. Ford is also survived by two sons: Craig F. Ford of West Independence, Kyle F. Ford and his wife Kris of Findlay, three daughters: Sheila A. Fox and her husband Kenneth of rural Arcadia, Sandra L. Cole-Cassidy and her husband Terry Cassidy of rural Arcadia and Tamara J. Ford of Huron, OH, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his foster mother, Emma Warren, two foster sisters: Mildred Eisaman and Vera Sage, three brothers: Leroy, Donald and Delbert Ford, three sisters: Marguerite Belknap, Helen Ford and Goldie Ford, son-in-law Paul Cole, daughter-in-law Pat Ford, grandson Michael Ford and granddaughter Angela Ford. Foster served his country during WWII in the US Army and received a citation from the French government for his part in the invasion of Normandy. He was awarded the Purple Heart after the Battle of the Bulge and the European Services Medal with four Bronze Stars. In 1985 he retired from Dow Chemical Company after 25 years of service. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Arcadia, where he served on the church council and as a Sunday School Superintendent. Foster was a lifelong mechanic, an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter who loved the outdoors and his family. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010, from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, and for one hour (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) prior to the service at the church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Arcadia with Pastor D.J. Dent officiating. Burial will follow in Arcadia cemetery where the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct full military rites. Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Arcadia.

Mary Jane Deal

Mary J. Deal, 72, of Findlay, passed away at 9:35 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Fox Run Manor, Findlay. She was born on March 31, 1939, in Painesville, OH, to the late William and Ellen J. (Rayser) Appleton. She married Dwight O. Guinn and they were divorced. She later married Clarence Deal and he preceded her in death. Mary is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Michael) Johnson of Reno, NV; a brother, Billy Appleton of Cleveland, OH; 2 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild. Mary was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Findlay. Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m., Friday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, in her memory.

Mary Louise Chatelain

Mary L. Chatelain, 89, of Findlay, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 11:59pm. Mary was born on May 9, 1921 in Findlay to the late Charles and Olive (Ebert) Walters. On September 1, 1939, she married Willis H. Chatelain. He died November 10, 2001. Mary is survived by her daughters Karen Chatelain and Kathy Hinton. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Marge Chatelain. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Janine K. Norris, sisters Dorothy Hugus, Mildred Griffin, and a brother Pete Walters. Mary retired from Kodak after 17 years, where she was a film processor. Memorials may be made to Bridge Home Health & Hospice. The funeral service will be Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 11:00AM at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay, Ohio, officaited by Pastor Debbie Kaylor. Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 2:00-4:00PM & 6:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.

Anthony "Tony" C. Cardwell

Anthony C."Tony" Cardwell, 62, of Findlay, passed away at 5:25 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011 at VA Medical Center, Ann Arbor, MI. Tony was born on February 17, 1949 to Carl W. and Mary (Carter) Cardwell in Redruth, Cornwall, England. He married Ruth A. Bird on March 10, 1972 and she preceded him in death on November 17, 2005. Tony is survived by a sister, Shirley A. (William) Bird of Tiffin and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends: Chuck and Deb Stock. He was preceded in death by a brother: Phillip Cardwell and two sisters: Carole Coleman and Linda Halcomb. He had retired as a custodian for the Findlay City Schools. He was a 1967 graduate of Fostoria High School and volunteered at the Salvation Army and the City Mission. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1968-1971. A Gathering of Friends will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay from 4-6pm. Interment will be private. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donors choice.

Arthur Melvin Eberhard

Arthur Melvin "Mel" Eberhard, 86, of Findlay passed away at 7:25 AM on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Arthur was born on December 6, 1925, to the late Arthur Willis Eberhard and Esther Lucille (Barrs) Eberhard in Anaheim, California. Mel served his country proudly in the U.S. Army in the Occupational Forces in Japan after WWII. Mel was a beloved father, husband,and spent most of his life as a career missionary with a servant's heart. He graduated from California State Polytechnic College, where he majored in agriculture. When he was offered the chance to go to Honduras to teach at The Pan-American School of Agriculture in 1952, he jumped at the opportunity. While in Honduras he helped found the ministry that would become Escuela El Sembrador, a farm and school for underprivileged Honduras boys. While there, Mel met Wanda Sharpton and they were married in 1956. After some Bible training, Mel and Wanda returned to Honduras as World Gospel Mission (WGM) missionaries. They served in various locations within Honduras for the next 13 years doing lay-training, church planting, and evangelism. Wanda became ill with cancer and passed away in 1969. In 1970, Mel was married to Sara Radebaugh of Findlay. Mel worked on and helped direct the El Sembrador Farm. After an earthquake struck Nicaragua in 1972, Mel and Sara were sent to Managua to become the first WGM missionaries to that country. In 1978, the Eberhard's had to leave Nicaragua due to the unstable political situation. They returned to Honduras where they served until they retired from the ministry in 1987. Overall, Mel spent 35 years of his life serving and loving the Central American people, who affectionately called him "Don Arturo." A telling legacy of Mel's life is that all of his children have been inspired to become involved in Christian ministry in some form. Mel was a member of Calvary Church of Benton Ridge, Benton Ridge. Mel is survived by his wife Sara Eberhard of Findlay; five sons: Dan (Jesica) of Lexington, KY, David (Julie) of Lexington, KY, Paul (Audry) of Sandusky, MI, Steve (Kara) of Crawfordsville, IN, and Tim (Angie) of Coshocton, OH; daughter, Rebecca (Kelly) Green of Nairobi, Kenya; father-in-law, Richard Radebaugh of Findlay; brother, Donald (Ann) Eberhard of Holland, MI; 15 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mel was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rachel; a sister, Marlus Fowler; and a grandson. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2012 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Calvary Church of Benton Ridge with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church (10:00-11:00 AM). Pastor Keith DuVernay will officiate and burial will follow in Benton Ridge cemetery, Benton Ridge, OH. Memorials may be made to World Gospel Mission-El Sembrador, Bridge Home Health and Hospice, and/or to the Alzheimer's Association of Northwest Ohio.

Dorothy Elaine Wolery

Dorothy Elaine Wolery, 72, of Findlay passed away at 7:25 a.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2012, at Birchaven Village. She was born on July 27, 1939, to the late Donald M. and Zella (Daring) Wolery in Hancock County, OH. Dorothy is survived by daughter, Melissa B. Wolery; brother, Donald D. Wolery; and sister, Barbara J. Wolery. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Reverend Chris Cravens will officiate and burial will follow in Elm Grove cemetery, Marion Twp., Hancock County. Memorials may be made to Birchaven Village.

Howard J. Rasmussen

Howard J. Rasmussen, age 85, of Mayfield Hts. Ohio, died at 6:35 p.m. on December 31, 2011, at the Birchhaven Care Center in Findlay. He was born on June 29, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Axel S. and Margaret (Strickland) Rasmussen. On August 2, 1952, he married his wife, Elaine, who now resides in Findlay. Howard is also survived by a son: Donald J. (Teresa) Rasmussen of Findlay and a daughter: Joanne (Mark) Longbrake of New Carlisle, Ohio. He is the proud grandfather of Cullen Rasmussen, Clayton Rasmussen, Matthew Longbrake and Jesse Longbrake. He was a mechanical designer for The Reliance Electric Company where he retired in February 1990, after a 39 year career. He was a very active member in the Faith United Methodist Church in Richmond Hts., Ohio and had been the president of the Mayfield Hts. Athletic Boosters Club. His hobby was racing gasoline powered model race cars, traveling extensively through Ohio and Michigan and other parts of the country. Howard was proud of his service in the military, having served in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed carpentry work, gardening and attending his grandchildren's activities. Over the years he had enjoyed traveling with his wife and children. There will be a Gathering of Friends on Friday, January 6, 2012, from 3-6 p.m. at COLDREN CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay. A memorial services will be held at Faith United Church of Christ, 575 Richmond Road, Richmond Heights, OH 44143, on Saturday, January 21, 2012. The memorial service will start at 10:00 a.m., followed by a social gathering also at the church. Graveside rites will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 21st at the Evergreen Hill cemetery in Chagrin Falls, Ohio with full military honors. Pastor Gene McAfee will officiate at the services. Howard had requested that all memorials be given to the Faith United Church of Christ in his memory.

Violet L. Henry

Violet L. Henry, 99, of Findlay, passed away at 9:45 PM, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Birchaven Care Center. Violet was born on February 15, 1912 in Leipsic to the late William and Louise (Werner) Henry. Violet is survived by two sisters: Helen Henry of Cincinnati and Rose Ricker of Findlay. Violet was preceded in death by four brothers: David D., Clarence E., Clyde E. and Clifford C. Henry; five sisters: Edith Henry, Thelma Klopfenstein, Ruth Tate, Hazel Johnson and Margaret Smith. Violet worked several years at the YMCA in Findlay and did domestic work over the years in different homes also in Findlay. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM-12:00 noon Saturday December 31, 2011 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Chris Cravins will officiate and burial will follow at Sugar Ridge cemetery, Leipsic. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
