Dwayne E. Carrel, age 42, of Lowell, Ohio died Friday evening (3/12/2004) at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, Ohio. He was born 7/24/1961 at Marietta, Ohio a son of L. Wayne & M. Eileen Hinton Carrel of Beverly, Ohio. He was a 1979 graduate of Caldwell High School; had attended the Dexter City United Methodist Church and was employed as an assistant supervisor and truck driver for Vadakin, Inc. at Marietta, Ohio. Dwayne was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and hunting for ginseng root.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife Pammye K. Jones Carrel whom he married 6/26/1982; 2 sons Dustin Michael & Brady Matthew Carrel and 1 daughter Jessica Jo Carrel all of the home; sisters Mary Jane (Tom) Stotts of Beverly, Ohio & Marlene Faye (Bob) Arick of McConnellsville, Ohio; mother-in-law Alavaretta Jones of Beverly, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday (3/15/2004) from 4 to 8 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell, Ohio where services will be held on Tuesday (3/16/2004) at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Kenneth Ogg officiating. Burial will follow at Dudley cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to the Dwayne Carrel Children Education Fund c/o Citizens Bank, P.O. Box #128, Beverly, Ohio 45715.(envelopes will be available at the funeral home)

Robert Dwight Snodgrass Sr.

Robert Dwight Snodgrass Sr., age 64, of Macksburg died Wednesday March 17, 2004 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 3, 1940 in Mannington West Virginia a son of Charles Dwight and the late Mary E. Hendershot Snodgrass. He served in the Navy and was employed at Dana Corporation with the Steel Workers Union Local #4836. He was a member of the Twin Rivers Baptist Church in Whipple.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife Judi Ammann Snodgrass whom he married on 5/11/1963, 1 daughter; Donna-Marie (Kendall) Vannoy of Marietta, 1 son; Robert Dwight Jr. (Cheryl) Snodgrass of Dexter City, 4 sisters; Katy N. Riggs of Caldwell, Anna Mae (Dave) Wolford of Canton, Mary Lois (Eugene) McKnown of Dexter City, Dorthy L. (Tom) Pack of Macksburg, and 6 grandchildren.

Friends may call at the McVay-Perkins Funeral Home on Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm where services will be held on Sunday at 2 pm with Pastor James Rushing officiating. Interment will follow at Dudley cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

William R. "Bill" Saling, age 59, of Caldwell, died unexpectedly Thursday (7/29/2004) at his residence. He was born 7/3/1945 in Caldwell, a son of Marge E. Crum Saling of Caldwell and the late Bernard J. Saling. He was a 1963 graduate of Caldwell High School, and a 1969 graduate of the Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in education. He had also completed some post-graduate work at Marietta College. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1969 to 1972, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant, and spending one year in Turkey. Mr. Saling taught art at Zanesville Middle School and Caldwell High School for 19 years. He was a professional artist and craftsman, known for his clog dancers. He exibited his art throughout Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. He was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church and its M.A.G.I.C. Sunday School Class. Mr. Saling was a founder of Art on the Square in Caldwell, which recently completed its twenty-eighth year; a member of the Ohio Designer Craftsmen and the Ohio Arts and Crafts Guild; a member of the Michigan Guild of Artists and Artisans; member of the Noble County Arts and Crafts Guild; a member of the Yankee Peddler Foundation, and honored as its Craftsman of the Year in 1997; and he was a member of the Noble County Performing Arts and the Noble County Chamber of Commerce. He was a former member of the Ohio Education Association and the National Education Association.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Beth Wood Saling whom he married 6/11/1966; 2 brothers Kenny (Janet) Saling, and Denver "Butch" (Debbie) Saling, both of Caldwell; 3 sisters Sheila (Jim) Serdy of Belle Valley, Becky Saling and Christy (Rick) Postelthwait both of Caldwell; a sister-in-law Barb (Darrell) Secrest of Shelby; 12 nieces & nephews; 1 grand-nephew and 4 grand-nieces.

Friends may call Saturday (7/31/2004) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Sunday (8/1/2004) at 2 PM at the Caldwell United Methodist Church, 537 Main Street, Caldwell, Ohio with Pastors Larry Hukill & Gary Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Olive cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to the Caldwell Exempted Village Schools Art Department or to the Noble County Historical Society Jail Project. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Cleetus H. Carsey, age 82, of Caldwell, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Select Specialty Hospital in Zanesville. He was born January 4, 1923, in Athens, Ohio, son of the late Edson and Samaria Bridwell Carsey. He had worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation, and retired from the Ohio Division of Wildlife in 1981 following 30 years of service. Mr. Carsey was named the Ohio Wildlife Officer of the Year in 1981. He also served 25 years as the Noble County Game Protector, and owned and operated Skyview Satellite Systems in Caldwell for 13 years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Edson Carsey, in 1972; four brothers, Walter, Leo, Robert, and Mac Carsey; and an infant sister.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Hamer Carsey, whom he married April 9, 1943; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Sharon) Stottsberry of Caldwell; one son, David (Marilyn) Carsey of Caldwell; 5 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Sunday, April 10, 2005, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where services will be held Monday at 11AM with Pastors Jim Garrett and Rodney Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Village View cemetery, Sarahsville.

Mary Ruth Kirkbride, age 93, of Massillon, Ohio, died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at Doctor's Hospital in Massillon, Ohio. She was born April 2, 1913, in Walhonding, Guernsey County, Ohio, daughter of the late Thornton and Chlo Etta Robison Niswonger. She was Protestant by faith and had worked as an aide at the Cambridge State Hospital.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Maywood Kirkbride, who died September 20, 1971; a step-son, Fredrick Kirkbride; three sisters, Bessie Grimes, Gail Bates and Virgil Jones; and three brothers, Don, Oscar, and Billie Niswonger.

Surviving are two sisters, Naomi Blackford and Winifred Hill, both of Massillon, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday, May 3, 2006, from 12PM to 2PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell, Ohio, where services will be held at 2PM with Pastor David Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Village View cemetery in Sarahsville, Ohio.

William Harding Lahue, age 85, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, May 12, 2006, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell. He was born September 29, 1920, in Summerfield, Ohio, son of the late Wilbert and Rosa Vandyne Lahue. He was a 1939 graduate of Summerfield High School, and a WWII Army veteran having served at the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. Mr. Lahue was a self-employed building contractor and a charter member and past commander of Caldwell VFW Post #4721.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Nelda L. Lahue, in 1993; two brothers, Harry Lahue and Hawley Lahue; and two sisters, Bernice Blevins and Eleanor Weber.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Miller Russell-Lahue; one son, Gary (Dee) Lahue of Caldwell; two grandsons, Brian Lahue and Kevin Lahue, both of Caldwell; two step-children, Rodney Russell of Caldwell and Rebecca Patonai of Cuyahoga Falls; his step-grandchildren, Kimberly Latona, Mark and Renee Orolin, Timothy Orolin, and Jimmy and Melissa Patonai; a sister, Elma Shamhart of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and three step-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Sunday, May 14, 2006, from 2-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where the service will be Monday, May 15, at 10AM with Father Dale Tornes officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Noble County Veterans Service Organization.

Norma Jean Long

Norma Jean Long, age 67, of Caldwell, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge, Ohio. She was born December 3, 1938, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, daughter of the late Vibert and Irene Shumate Keck. She was an employee of the former NCR plant in Cambridge and a member of the IBEW Union. She was a very active member of the Main Street Church of Christ, Caldwell.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Richard Long, who died October 18, 2005; a half-sister, Ruby Meyers; and a half-brother, Denver Keck.

Surviving are one son, David A. (Teresa) Long of Caldwell; one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Melinda Jean) Lagle of Caldwell; five grandchildren: Mrs. Wayne (Maria Jean) Sparkman, John and Edward Porter, and Dawna and Korinna Long; four great-grandchildren: Brenda and Brieann Giffin and Jared and Megan Porter; three step-grandchildren: Ian, Cameron, and Normandy Sparkman; special friends of 40 years Bob and Karen Wheatley; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call Friday, May 19, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where the service will be Saturday, May 20, at 11AM with Evangelist Paul Hoover and Pastor John Powell officiating.
