Donna Knox

ATHENS – Donna Knox, 90, of Athens, died September 20, 2003, at her home.
Born July 5, 1913, in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Wade and Destina Bean Love.
Donna is retired from the Housekeeping division of Ohio University. She was a life member of The Plains VFW and donated countless hours to the Disabled Veterans. She was also a member of the Salvation Army Church.
Donna is survived by one son, Donald (Joan) Knox, Sr. of Coppers Cove, Texas; four grandchildren, Jerry “Fred” Woodruff, Jr. of The Plains, Kelly (John) Sebring of Chauncey, Donald (Linda) Knox, Jr. of Texas, Darryl Knox of Texas; a sister, Dorothy Nell Cunningham of The Plains; and five great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her three daughters, Jennie Woodruff, Freda Howard, and Bonnie Knox; one brother, Watson Love; one sister, Queen Lowery; and one grandson Dwayne Knox.
Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with the Reverend John Elswick officiating. Burial will be at Clarks Chapel.
Friends may call the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Chloe Stotts

NEW MARSHFIELD – Chloe B. Stotts, 90, of New Marshfield, died Saturday, September 20, 2003 at her home. She left us to be with our Lord and her husband, Paul.
Born August 3, 1913, in Zaleski, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Jason and Lillie Hudnell Brickles.
Chloe dedicated her life to her family and grandchildren. She is survived by four sons and their families, Paul Lee (Nancy) Stotts of New Marshfield; Richard Gail (Bernita) Stotts of New Marshfield; Gary Vern (Lynn) Stotts of Grove City; and Terry Curtis (Laura) Stotts of Logan; a brother, Raymond Brickles of McArthur; a sister Theta Mayes of Plain City; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; and fourteen great great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Everett Stotts; two brothers, Silas Brickles and Richard Brickles; a sister, Lucille LeMay; and a great great grandson Zakib Sarnes.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with the Reverend Owen Stotts officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Herman cemetery, Sharpsburg.
Friends may call the funeral home on Monday, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Gary Lee Hixson

Gary Lee Hixson, 48, of Athens, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2003. He was born in Athens on December 29, 1954.
He was retired from Southern Ohio Coal Company, and a 1995 RN Honor's Graduate of Hocking College School of Nursing.
Gary is survived by his parents, Fred and Beverly Hixson, and brothers Robert and Rick. He was a loving father to Jennifer, Richard, Hanna, and Glynnis. Gary was known as a loyal friend and devoted son and brother.
His time was often spent with family and friends. Gary also enjoyed outdoor hobbies such as hunting, fishing, canoeing, and camping.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2003, 7:00 p.m., at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Bill O’Brien officiating.
Friends may call the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 pm until time of service.

Delbert L. Crum, Sr.

GUYSVILLE – Delbert L. Crum, Sr., 60, of Guysville, died Friday, October 10, 2003 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan.
Born January 2, 1943, he was the son of the late George and Rinda Steppe Crum.
Delbert was a union concrete finisher in the Athens area for many years and a former member of the Big Run Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Stover Crum; five children, Debbie (Edward) Bowers of Athens, Dorothy Jean (Harold) Young of Guysville, Delbert Jr. “Bub” (Mary) Crum of Cutler, Barbara Crum and fiancé Mike Robinson of Athens, and Nancy (Robert) Carpenter of Coolville; two brothers, Dick Crum of Vermillion, and Joe Crum of Martin County, KY; four sisters, Clora Thacker of Columbus, Allie Watkins of Athens, Doris Preece of Martin County, KY, and Nannie Johnson of Athens; fourteen grandchildren, including Delbert Crum III; and two great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Nola May Adams and Imjean Preece; a brother, Flem Crum, and a nephew, Ralph Stover III.
Services will be held Monday at 11:00 am, at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Reverend David Roach officiating. Burial will be at Mount Liberty cemetery.
Friends may call the funeral home, Sunday from 5-8 p.m.

Richard P. Bagley

ALBANY – Richard P. Bagley, 66, of Albany, died Friday, October 10, 2003 at his home.
Born November 23, 1936 in Alverda, PA, he was the son of the late James and Cora Flemming Bagley.
He is survived by three children, Cindy (Robert) Meek of The Plains, Richard (Sherri) Bagley of New Marshfield, and Vicki (Chris) Rosser of Albany; eight grandchildren, Jamie and Heather Meek, Richard, Russell, Ryan and Robert Bagley, Linda Bagley, and Breanna Rosser; a great granddaughter, Alexis; and three brothers, Mervin Bagley of Pigeon Forge, TN, Carl Bagley of Clymer, PA, and David Bagley of Indiana, PA.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janette Bagley in 1996, and a grandson, James Bagley.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m., at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens. Burial will be at the New Marshfield cemetery where military services will be conducted by the Athens VFW, Post 3477 and the Athens American Legion, Post 21.
Friends may call at the funeral home, Monday from 5-8 p.m.

Elsie Eileen Guess

CHAUNCEY – Elsie Eileen Guess, 87 of Chauncey, died Monday, October 13, 2003 at Russell’s Nursing Home in Albany.
Born April 3, 1916, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Cora McDaniel Lenigar.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley O’Nail of Chauncey, and Judith (Gary) Bickley of Columbus; three grandchildren Michael O’Nail, Gregory Bickley, Sheri Parr; six great grandchildren, Joey, Gregory, Cody, Cory, Amber, and Brandon; and a brother, Harvey Lenigar of Chauncey.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Lewis Guess; five sisters, Fay Ramey, Bessie Perry, Trecie Dowler, Everetta Simpson, Tensie Lenigar; and two brothers, Leonard and Jess Lenigar.
Services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Reverend Owen Stotts officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn New Addition cemetery.
Friends may call the funeral home Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Lawrence K. Fell

ATHENS – Lawrence K. Fell, 84, of Athens, died early Saturday morning, October 18, 2003, at his home.
Born April 28, 1919, in Grettinger, Iowa, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary Eichelstein Fell.
Lawrence was a U.S. Army Veteran in WWII, serving in the 37th Division for four years in the South Pacific. He served through many campaigns ending in the Philippines. He was a member of the Logan Moose Lodge and a Charter member of the Albany VFW.
He is survived by one niece and several nephews, including Donald (Irene) Hansberger of Norwalk; and special friends with whom he made his home, Ron and Judy Campbell of Athens.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mae Evans, Lillian Hansberger, Ada Cooper; and one brother, Raymond Fell.
Services will be held at the Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, Monday, at 11:00 a.m., with Kenneth Dean officiating. Burial will be at New Marshfield cemetery, where military services will be conducted by the Albany VFW.
Friends may call the funeral home Sunday, from 2-4 p.m.

Beverly Wade-Stinnett

ATHENS – Beverly Ann Wade-Stinnett, 57, of Athens died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens.
Born June 9, 1946, in Chauncey, she was the daughter of Maxine Hartley Wade of Athens, and the late Ace Wade.
She was a graduate of Rome Canaan High School and a former employee of the FBI and Social Security Administration.
Beverly was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by a son, Curt (Rita) Stinnett of Charleroi, PA; a daughter, Cynthia Stinnett of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Curtis Wade Stinnett, Bethany Nicole Stinnett, Boyd Clifton Stinnett, and Autumn Grey Stinnett; two sisters, Carolyn Koker of Athens, and Charlotte Boysel of Georgia; and a brother Ace Wade of Columbus.
Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Branch President Dan Adams officiating. Burial will be at Canaanville cemetery.
Friends may call the funeral home Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Clarence Watson, Sr.

ATHENS – Clarence W. Watson, Sr., 75 of Athens, died Thursday, October 23, 2003, at the home of his son.
Born June 20, 1928, in Chauncey, he was the son of the late Curtis and Thelma Davis Watson.
He was a 1946 Athens High School graduate. He retired in 1988 from the Athens Post Office, after 27 years of service. He was a former employee of McBee’s and was a member of the Redman Lodge. Clarence also spent six years in the U.S. Airforce.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virgene Watson; a son, Clarence Jr. (Debbie) Watson of Athens; a daughter, Lorrie (Keith) McGuire of Athens; two grandchildren, Craig Watson, and Kelsey McGuire; two great grandchildren, Breanna and Brittany Watson; and a sister Wanda Douglas of Silver Springs, Florida.
Services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Reverend Denver Dodrill officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens, where military services will be conducted by the Athens VFW, Post 3477 and the American Legion, Post 21.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 p.m.

Grace E. Richardson

ATHENS – Grace E. Richardson, 89, of Athens, died unexpectedly, Sunday, December 21, 2003, at her home.
Born October 9, 1914, in Pomeroy, she was the daughter of the late Hollie and Edna Carsey Hawk.
Grace was a graduate of Chauncey High School. She retired from Ohio University Alden Library and a member of the Richland Avenue United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two nieces, Yvonne Colleen Brickles of Shade, and Ladona Garoldene (John) Stephens of Shade; and nine grand nieces and nephews, Lynette, Steve, Tami, Diana, Kim, Tom, Tony, Tonya, and Jamie.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Healey Richardson; a sister, Audra Hayes; and a nephew, Hollie Hayes.
Services will be held Saturday, 1:00 p.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens with Norman Coleman officiating. Burial will be at Alexander cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday, two hours prior to the service, from 11-1 p.m.

Johnathan Victor Lucius Bowen

THE PLAINS – Johnathan “John Boy” Victor Lucius Bowen, 21, of The Plains, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2003 on River Road.
Born April 22, 1982, he was the son of Linda (Gilbert Cooper) Bowen, and Victor (Jackie) Mayles of Athens.
He worked at Ohio University. When not working, John took great pride in caring for and riding horses. He loved numerous other outdoor activities. John was loved by everyone that knew him. He will be sadly missed by his family.
John’s fiancé, Beth Wiseman, will tell their unborn baby boy of John’s love as he is brought into this world. He was also a loving uncle to Astacia and Brenden Grant and Makayla Bowen.
He is survived by a daughter, Shianna; a sister, Heather Bowen of Athens; two brothers, Jamie Bowen of Athens, and James McMillan of Vinton County; grandparents, Fred (Mary) Hart of Athens, Connie Mayles of Chauncey; uncles and aunts, Fred (Pauline) Hart of Athens, Karen Wemmer of Jacksonville, Brenda (Kent) Eddy of Marietta; Guyla Mayles and Lovella Jiminez of New Mexico; and Flo Mayles of Chauncey.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Luther Mayles, and an uncle, Tom Mayles.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 1:00 p.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Pastor Earl James officiating. Burial will be at Hilltop cemetery, Millfield.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m.

Marjorie R. Haigney

ATHENS - Marjorie R. Haigney, 85, of Athens, died Sunday, December 21, 2003, at Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Athens.
Marjorie is the wife of Vincent Joseph Haigney of Athens.
There will be no services at the request of the family.

D. Jane Baker

ATHENS - D. Jane Baker, 86, of Athens, died Friday, December 19, 2003, at Kimes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Athens.
Jane was the wife of Donald Baker of Athens.
There will be no services at the request of the family.
