Karen Sue Sites

ATHENS - Karen Sue Sites, 44, of Weston, Florida, went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning.
Born Oct. 30, 1959 in Little Rock, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Clifford Larry Thompson of Florida and Juanita (Willard) Sycks Coon of Athens.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her fiancé, Greg Skinner; two sons, Jason and Gene Richard Sites of Columbus; a granddaughter, Averi Sites of Columbus; a grandfather, Harold Sycks of Athens; a grandmother, Julia Thompson of The Plains; a brother, Gregory / Valeria Thompson of Gainesville, FL along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens with Earl James officiating. Burial will be in Alexander cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Robert E. Richardson

GUYSVILLE – Robert E. Richardson, 84 of Guysville, passed away Sunday October 3, 2004 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center. Born on June 8, 1920, he was the son of the late Sherman and Frances LaFollette Richardson.
He was a lifelong resident of Athens County and associated with the Laymen’s Home Missionary Movement.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha E. Richardson; three daughters, Carolyn Crippen, Mary (Danny) Mansfield and Sally (James) Goff all of Guysville; a sister, Marian Richardson of Athens; four grandchildren, Kevin Mace, Jim Goff, JoAnna Mansfield Duquette, and Jennifer Crippen Smith; and four great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Ann; a grandson, Michael Mansfield; two brothers, Cameron and Getzel Richardson; and four sisters, Elaine Graham, Blanche Caldwell, Ella Sue Hackney and Naomi Cullison.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 AM at Hughes Moquin Funeral Home with Jon Hanning officiating. Burial will be at Clarks Chapel cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM.

Clarice Powell

ATHENS – Clarice Powell, 82, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to many, of Athens, died October 2, 2004 at her home. Born June 6, 1922 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lizzie Brooks McKibben. She lived her entire life in the Athens County area.
She is survived by five daughters, Carol (Dan) Taulbee, of Tipp City, Brenda Gressner, of Dayton, Janet and Paula Powell, of Athens, and Sara McCallister, of Fairborn; five grandchildren Ginger (Rob) Stuck, of Tipp City, Melissa Gressner, of Maumee, Patty, Lee and Eddie Powell of South Carolina; five great grandchildren, Ashley Packard and Christian Stuck, of Tipp City, Jessie, Amanda and Harry Powell of South Carolina; and 33 nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Powell; three sons, Ronald, Bruce, and an infant son; a brother, Herman Roscoe McKibben; and three sisters, Jane Carsey, Garnett Whan, and Ann Hall.
She was a 50 year member of the Athens Grange, a 50 year member of Nannie Ullom Rebekah Logde, Athens Business and Professional Women, American Legion Auxiliary, and a long time Republican central committee member. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 PM, at Hughes Moquin Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Fetty officiating. Burial will be at Clarks Chapel cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9. Rebekah Memorial Services will be held Tuesday at 7:30 PM. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

Verdelle Brozak

NEW ENGLAND – Verdelle Brozak, 74, of New England, died early Wednesday morning September 22, 2004 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.
Born November 9, 1929 in Glouster, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Addie Van Dyke Stephenson.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, her passion was her family. She loved to cook and embroidery.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mike Brozak; four sons, Michael Brozak, Dennis (Joyce) Brozak, Donnie (Karen) Brozak and Greg (Janie) Brozak; two daughters, Brenda (Larry) McPherson and Cassandra Brozak; 14 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Harriet Arnold and Maxine Paulson; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Gerald, and Robert Stephenson; and one sister, Rebecca Rife.
Services will be Saturday at 11 AM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Rev. Frank Hare officiating. Burial will be in New England cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Anna Marie Montgomery

ATHENS – Anna Marie Montgomery, 81, of Athens, formerly of Follansbee, WV, died Monday morning, Sept. 6, 2004 at Brookside Manor in The Plains.
Born Feb. 18, 1923 in Wellsburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Serafino and Maria Splendina Romagnoli.
She was a member of Follansbee United Methodist Church where she was formerly church secretary and a member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived four children, Karen Montgomery-Reagan of Athens, Jeff (Debra) Montgomery of Moon Twp, PA, Anna Marie Counts of Roanoke, VA, Dodie (Donna Toothman) Montgomery of Evansville, IN; three grandchildren, Bryon and Nicholas Montgomery of Moon Twp, PA, Victoria Ann Reagan of Athens; a brother, Joseph Romagnoli of Follansbee, WV, two sisters, Helen Romagnoli of Fort Myers, FL, Dora Pielich of Yorkville, Ohio.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Ralph Montgomery; three brothers, Alfred Romagnoli, Albert Romagnoli, Jessie Nepa; Three Sisters, Emma Nazionale, Sylvia Gallo, Ida Cicale
Friends may call Thursday 4:00 to 8:00 pm at James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV with Rev. William Brown officiating. Services will be at 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow. Due to her dedication to the church, faith and love of God, her children ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to the Follansbee Methodist church. Local arrangements are by Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens.

PATTY BARNHOUSE

ATHENS – Dessie Patricia Hudnell Barnhouse, 69, of Athens, died Saturday September 4, 2004 at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
Born September 6, 1934 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Charles Arnold and Minnie Mildred Barron Hudnell.
Before moving to Athens, Patty resided and raised her family in Albany. Patty was a devoted wife and mother, a retired housekeeper of Sigma Kappa Sorority at Ohio University and a caregiver to all.
She is survived by three sons, Steve (Belinda) Barnhouse of Shade, Gary (Sara) Barnhouse of Albany and Timothy Barnhouse of Albany; three grandchildren, Dillon, Kyle and Heather who were very much loved; a brother, Donald (Joy) Hudnell of The Plains; three sisters, Phyllis (Roy) Bias of Columbus, Marlene (Larry) Russell of Athens, and Mona (Reid) Krantz of Cape Coral, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Avril Barnhouse; and two brothers, James Arnold and Joseph Edward Hudnell.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Rev. H. Willard Love officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. May God welcome Patty into his kingdom of Heaven.

Edna McBride

ATHENS – Edna McBride, 71, of Athens, died Saturday morning at her home.
Born September 7, 1932 in Chauncey and was the daughter of the late Carl and Edith Sams Brown.
She was a member of the South Athens Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is survived by her son, David McBride of Athens; two grandchildren, Sean McBride of The Plains and Rose McBride of The Plains; a brother, Earl Brown of Athens; and a sister, Dorothy (Dale) Channell of The Plains.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George (Nicky) McBride.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with James Frye officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Athens County Hospice at 30 Herrold Avenue, P.O. Box 768 Athens, Ohio 45701.

THOMAS JERRY BURDETTE

MILLFIELD – Thomas Jerry Burdette, 64, of Millfield went to heaven on Thursday August 19, 2004 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital.
Born October 12, 1939 in Corning, was the son of the late Thomas E. and Maxine Ackison Burdette. He was a member of the Jacksonville VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Grace Patterson Burdette; and two sons, William Burdette of the home, and Walter (Tressa) Burdette; five daughters, Nancy (Bob) Heller, Sharon (Rob) Thompson, Kristi (Walter) Carpenter, Sheryl (Brian) Kasler, and Lisa (Kevin) Newman; 16 grandchildren including Brittany Burdette who resided with him and 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Jim (Barb) Burdette.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Thomas E. Burdette; a daughter, Wilma Lee Burdette; and a sister, Nancy Jean Burdette.
Services will be Sunday at 1 PM at Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home, Athens, with Jim Brown officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.

Pearl Crews

ATHENS - Pearl Crews, 90, of Gallipolis, Ohio, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at the Hickory Creek Nursing Center in The Plains, Ohio.
She was born May 7, 1914, in Tolar, Ky., daughter of the late William and Alta Mae Parsons Varney.
She is survived by a son, Claude Crews; two sisters, Claudine Dillon and Mary Poffenbrager; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Goffrey Crews; two sons, Goffrey Jr., and Robert; and one daughter, Ruth Frangowlakis.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 1, 2004, at 1 PM, at the Hughes-Moquin Funeral Home in Athens.
[The SSDI shows her state of issue as West Virginia and her last known residence as Hidalgo County, Texas.]

Viola M. Rutherford
Date: 2005-02-14

Viola M. Rutherford, 82, formerly of Alvada, died Monday 9:15 PM in the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria where she had resided.
Viola was born January 9, 1923 in Alvada, Ohio to the late Raymond & Anna (Reinhart) LaFontaine. She married Paul Walter and he was killed in France in WW II, then married Norman L. Rutherford on June 21, 1947 at St Wendelin's in Fostoria, and he died March 16, 1999.
Survivors include 2 daughters- Rebecca (Joe) Theis, Fostoria, Kristin (Steve) Lucius, Fostoria and Debra (Mark) Clark, Bloomville, Step-son Robert (Shelby) Rutherford, Reading, PA, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brother- Eugene (Bernice) LaFontaine, McHenry, Ill., 2 sisters-in-law Rita LaFontaine and Emma LaFontaine, New Riegel.
Viola was predeceased by her husband, 2 sisters- Anges Bugner and Lillian Waltermyer, 5 brothers- Florian, Cletus, Lloyd, Sylverius and Bernard LaFontaine.
She retired as a cook from the New Riegel School system, and also had been employed by Autolite, Fostoria. She was a member of St Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and also a member of St Peter Catholic Church, Alvada, New Riegel Women of the Moose, Toledo Craftsman Guild, and a longtime Seneca County 4-H advisor.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:45 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM in St. Peter Catholic Church, Alvada, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10:40 AM. The Reverend Ronald A. Schock will officiate.
Burial will be in St Peter Parish cemetery, Alvada.
Memorials are suggested to the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria, St. Peter or St. Wendelin Catholic Churches.

Wilma L. Guzman
Date: 2005-02-13

Wilma L. Guzman, 45, of Fostoria, died Sunday evening 6:20 PM in Fostoria Community Hospital, February 13, 2005.
Wilma was born February 27, 1959 in South Williamson, Kentucky to Ted & Ollie (Marcum) Van Hoose, and he survives in Fostoria. She married Roberto Guzman on May 13, 1983 in Texas, and he survives in Fostoria. Also surviving are 2 sons- Ted Guzman, Fostoria, and Tony Guzman, Bellevue, 5 daughters- Maria (Refugio Sanchez) Vasquez, Fostoria, Ana (Patrick) Porter, Fostoria, April, Amy and Maria Guzman of Fostoria. 5 grandchildren- Fernando Vasquez, Derik Gregory, Alicia Porter, Teandra Guzman, and Patrick Porter Jr. 1 sister- Judy Bowers, Fostoria, and a half-brother Mike Morrow, Pennsylvania, and half sister- Ruth Hill, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Wilma was predeceased by her mother- Ollie VanHoose, daughter- Melinda Guzman, and a son- Roberto Jr.
Wilma was a kind loving person who always put her family first, she will always be here in our hearts. We love you mom, wife, mother in law, daughter and friend. We're sorry you left in so much pain, at least your suffering is no more, and you now have the wings of an angel.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 7-9 PM in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria with burial in the parish cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family in care of Hoening Funeral Home 242 W. Tiffin Street, Fostoria, Ohio 44830.

J. Vincent Buchanan
Date: 2005-02-12

J. Vincent Buchanan, 53, Risingsun, Ohio died Saturday evening in Fostoria Community Hospital, Fostoria, February 12, 2005.
He was born February 15, 1951 in Ft. Knox, KY to Lt. Col. R. Sam & Jeanice (Moran) Buchanan, and they survive in Opp, Alabama.
Also surviving is a son- Thomas (Rachel) Buchanan, Ft. Knox, Ky, and 2 daughters- Antonia Buchanan, Toledo, and Kendra Buchanan, Dunbridge, 2 sisters- Sue (Steve) Gross, Vermilion and Pat (Gene Harbrecht) Buchanan, Santa Ana, California.
John was a retired Attorney at Law in Risingsun- serving Wood, Sandusky, and Seneca counties. He also served his Country in the US Army. John was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, a 1969 graduate of St. Wendelin High School, 1972 graduate of BGSU, graduate of University of Toledo Law School 1975, and served as a cadet at West Point US Military Academy for 2 years. John was admitted into the Ohio Bar Association in 1976. He was involved in real estate development in the Florida Gulf county area. He maintained a passion for nature and the outdoors, and enjoyed planting trees.
Visitation will take place Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday 10:30 AM in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 AM.
Burial will take place in Pleasant View cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio
The United Veteran's of Fostoria will provide Military Funeral Honors.
Memorials are suggested to St. Wendelin Church & Schools.
