Jessie "Maxine" DeLong, 81, formerly of E. High Street, Fostoria and currently a resident of St. Catherine's Care Center, Fostoria, died Sunday evening 5:09 PM in Fostoria Community Hospital, February 6, 2005.
Mrs. DeLong was born July 17, 1923 in Fostoria, Ohio to the late Paul & Jessie (Aldrich) Wilcox.
Surviving are 2 Daugters- Kay (Ed) Putman-
Wilson, Tiffin, and Darlene (Charles) Putman-Williard, Auburn, IN, and Son-in-law Raymond Depinet, Findlay, along with 6 Grandchildren, 11 Great grandchildren, and 1 Great great grandson.
She was predeceased by 1 Daughter- Charline Depinet and 1 Brother- Charles Wilcox.
Mrs. DeLong had been a cook at the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria for over 23 years. She was also a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, Findlay.
Funeral Services will take place Wednesday 11:00 AM in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, with the Reverend Gene Milioni officiating. Burial will take place in Fountain cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 4-8 PM Tuesday in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria (419-435-8200).
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Sally May Vargas
Date: 2005-02-06

Sally May Vargas, 88, Fostoria, died 11:45 PM Sunday at her home, February 6, 2005.
She was born March 13, 1916 in Grayburg, Texas to the late John & Dionicia (Rendon) Garcia. She married Joseph Vargas Sr., on December 30, 1939 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Assumption, Ohio and he died October 19, 2003.
Survivors include 1 Daughter- Dolores F. Vargas, Fostoria, 1 Son- Joseph Vargas Jr., Avon Lake, Ohio, 2 Grandchildren- Michelle Rene Huber DagDag M.D., and Jennifer Pushka, 2 Great Grandchildren- Naialani DagDag and Katya Sage Pushka, 2 Sisters- Lola Tomacek, Toledo, and Rose Garcia, Toledo, and 1 Brother- Thatcher Garcia, Toledo.
Mrs. Vargas was predeceased by 4 Sisters- Stella Garcia, Sara Bush, Juanita Miller and Pauline Rojas, along with 4 Brothers- Louis, Frank, Fred and Ted Garcia.
Mrs. Vargas was a homemaker and member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. She immensely enjoyed the raising of flowers and earned the well deserved reputation of being able to make any plant grow and flourish.
Visitation will take place Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria where a Christian wake service will take place at 8:30 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday morning at 10:30 AM in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 AM.
Burial will take place in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Wendelin Church & Schools or Bridge Hospice.

Helen I. Lang
Date: 2005-01-30

Helen I. Lang, 89, Fostoria, died Sunday morning 6:42 AM in Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria. January 30, 2005
Helen was born October 25, 1915 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Charles W. & Margaret (Klein) Fleck. She married Gilbert W. "Gil" Lang on June 27, 1939 in Findlay, and he died May 29, 2004.
Surviving is a daughter- Janet "Jan" Farrell, Bridgeport, West Virginia, three grandchildren Shaun (Pat) Farrell, Brett and Nicole Farrell, two great grandchildren- Courtney and Matthew Farrell, and a brother- Charles Fleck. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and three brothers- Harold, Alfred, and Arthur Fleck, and a sister- Martha Campbell.
Helen was a homemaker and member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.
Visitation will take place Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria where a Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30 AM Thursday morning on St Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 AM. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St Wendelin Church & Schools.

Hilda T. Hay
Date: 2005-01-29

Hilda T. Hay, 82, formerly of Westhaven Drive, Fostoria, died Saturday afternoon in the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria where she resided, January 29, 2005.
Hilda was born December 1, 1922 in Delaware, Ohio to the late Francis G & Ethel (Curtis) Haas. She married Willard R. "Bill" Hay on December 21, 1944 in Napoleon, Ohio, and he died April 6, 1998.
Survivors include one daughter- Teri L. (Ralph) Wise, Fostoria, and a son- Willard R. "Bill" (Brenda) Hay Jr., Fostoria along with six grandchildren- Dale Rumschlag, Billy Hay, Kimberlee McClellan, Dawn Patterson, and Jessica Wise, 14 great grandchildren, sister- Susie Davis, Delaware, brothers- Frank & James Haas, Delaware.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, grandson- Douglas Rumschlag, sister- Mary Davis, and a brother- John Haas.
Hilda retired from RCA, Findlay, and she also enjoyed working at the Fostoria License Bureau. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and its Rosary-Altar Society, and The Fostoria Woman's Club.
Hilda will be remembered by her family as a faithful woman to her family and faith. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Bill, especially wintering at their North Ft. Myers, Florida home. Hilda was an avid card player, and enjoyed taking daily walks with her friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM Wednesday in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery.

Henry J. Tiell
Date: 2005-01-27

Henry J. Tiell, 96, of the Senior Towers, Findlay, and formerly of Stoner Road, Fostoria, died Thursday 3:50 PM in The Heritage House, Findlay, Ohio, January 27, 2005.
Henry was born December 28, 1908 in Seneca County to the late John H. & Matilda (Hammer) Tiell. He married Viola C. Williams on November 26, 1931 in St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Frenchtown, and she died February 26, 1997.
Surviving are two sons John H. Tiell, Findlay and Michael L. (Mary) Tiell, Fostoria along with three daughters Deloris C. Durain, Findlay, Patricia A. Blackburn, Fostoria, and Louann (Tim) Sterling, Findlay, 21 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, two grandsons Michael L Tiell Jr., and Michael Brooks, five brothers- Frank, George, Albert, Charlie, and David Tiell, two sisters Mary Ann Welly and Rose Reinhart and an infant brother and sister.
Henry retired in 1972 from the Union Carbide, Fostoria, now National Electrical Carbon. He was a member of St Michaels Catholic Church, Findlay and former member of St Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria..
Visitation will take place Sunday from 2-4 & 6-9 PM in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be held at 8:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday 10:30 AM in St Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 AM.
Burial will follow in St Joseph Parish cemetery, Tiffin.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

George H. Faeth
Date: 2005-01-21

George Faeth, 84, Fostoria, died Friday 7:21 PM in Fostoria Community Hospital, January 21, 2005.
George was born October 8, 1920 in Seneca County, Ohio to the late Henry & Johanna (Theis) Faeth. He married Margaret M. "Maggie" Frankart on November 23, 1946 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, and she died August 4, 1991.
Survivors include 2 daughters- Jane (Bob) Frias, Fostoria, and Susan Gardiner, Melbourne, Florida. 6 sons- Ronald Faeth, Fostoria, Donald (Jo) Faeth, Fostoria, Richard Faeth, Maine, William (Terri) Faeth, Fostoria, Jeff "Bo" (Betsy) Faeth, Fostoria and Patrick (Lori) Faeth, Findlay, 18 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters- Helen (Norman) Kromer, Carey and Viola (Bob) Fisher, Texas.
George was predeceased by his parents, wife, 2 brothers- Alvin "Buddy" Faeth and Anthony Faeth, and 3 sisters- Lorena Roth, Marie Regan and Rita Zalas.
George retired in 1982 after 42 years from Atlas, Fostoria as a "machine operator" in the Cutter Grind Department. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree council # 1197, Fostoria, the New Riegel American Legion post # 354. Mr. Faeth was in the US Army during WW II in "heavy artillery" serving in the European Theatre. He was a former member of the Fostoria United Sportsman Club and a meals on wheels volunteer. He enjoyed the annual Pennsylvania "hunting" trip with his brother Buddy and nephews, and fishing as a pastime. He will be remembered for his quick witted dry sense of humor. George was a great babysitter for his grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He also enjoyed a good buffet meal, known by his family as the "buffet king". He spent much of his recent time listening to WFOB's morning programs.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 2-9 PM with the family present from 2-4 & 6-9 PM in Hoening Funeral Home. A Christian wake service will be held at 8:45 PM with a New Riegel American Legion memorial service to follow.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place 10:30 AM Wednesday morning in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, with a Rosary prayed at 10 AM in the church.
Burial will be in St. Wendelin Parish cemetery, Fostoria.
Memorials are suggested to - St Wendelin High School Gymnasium special project "Electronic Flag Fund", DayBreak of Fostoria, or Seneca County Commission on Aging "meals program".
The Faeth family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Fostoria Community Hospital for their caring and kindness.

Donald E. Lowery
Date: 2005-01-16

Donald E. Lowery, 81, Fostoria, died Sunday 12:06 PM in St. Catherines Care Center, Fostoria, January 16, 2005.
Don was born August 5, 1923 in Carey, Ohio to the late Harley "Tom" & Clara (Boes) Lowery. He married Irene E. Hammer on June 20, 1950 at St Michaels Catholic Church, Gibsonburg and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are 2 sons- Larry (Jena) Lowery, Fostoria and Gary (Tina) Lowery, Fostoria and a daughter- Linda (Steve) Faber, Tiffin, 11 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandson, 6 brothers- Dale (Charlotte) Lowery, Fostoria, Ramon (Beatrice) Lowery, Fostoria, Jerry (Joanne) Lowery, Fostoria, Arlen (Sue) Lowery Fostoria, Paul (Marguarite) Lowery, Findlay, Roy (Nancy) Lowery, Wooster, and a sister- Gloria Krupp, Temperance, Mich.
He was predeceased by a son- Dennis E. Lowery and 2 brothers- Dean A & Darrell Lowery.
Don retired from Bendix, Fostoria (currently Honeywell) after 30 years of service. He also worked at Kroger's for 10 years. He was a member of St Wendelin Catholic Church, the Third Order of St Francis, a volunteer for the Fostoria Sharing Kitchen and the Meals on Wheels program.
Don was a humble man who always responded to peoples needs, never expecting credit. His solid commitment to his family and church will not be forgotten. He helped as a mass server, communion distributor, and the former parish bingo. He was also a WW II US Army Air Corp veteran.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday in St Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 AM. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will take place Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM.
Memorials are suggested to Alzheimers Assn. or St Wendelin Church c/o Hoening Funeral Home 242 W Tiffin Street, Fostoria, Ohio 44830 ph419-435-8200.

Connie J. Trevino
Date: 2005-01-11

Connie J. Trevino, 48, Fostoria, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 in Fostoria Community Hospital at 3:32 PM. She was born October 6, 1956 in Marion, Ohio to Jennings O. & Ester (Jaggers) Knotts, and he survives in Marion. She married Jacinto G. Trevino on September 6, 1975 in Fostoria, and he survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are 2 daughters- Misty (Shawn) Blaser, Fostoria, and Jessica Trevino, Fostoria, son- Jacinto G. Trevino Jr., Fostoria, grandson- Braiden Blaser, brother- Kenneth (Julie) Knotts, Marion, and sister- Jennifer Madison, Massillon. Connie was predeceased by her mother.
Connie was a homemaker, who enjoyed crocheting as a pastime. She also read the Bible daily, and appreciated the gift of life and her family. Connie will be dearly missed by her loving family.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria where a funeral service to celebrate Connie's life will take place Saturday 10:30 AM. The Reverend Donald R. Goodwin will officiate. Burial will take place in Fountain cemetery.

Donald J. Roth
Date: 2005-01-11

Donald J. Roth, 76, Fostoria, died Tuesday, Janaury 11, 2005 in Fostoria. He was born March 7, 1928 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Frank C. & Rose I. (Hosman) Roth. He married Mary Charleen Williams on June 13, 1950 at St Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and she survives.
Also surviving is a daughter - KarenSue Roth, Fostoria, grandson- Jamie Roth, Fostoria, brother- Bernard R. Roth, Fostoria, sister- Mrs. Jerry (Marcella "Sally") VanBuskirk, Bascom, stepgrandson- Michael Richards, Bloomville, step greatgrandson- Joseph Richards, Republic, and son in law- Howard Richards, Fostoria.
Don retired in 1988 from Allied, Fostoria (now Honeywell), after 40 years of service as a Tool & Die Inspector. He also was a WW II US Navy veteran where he served as a medic.
Don was a member of St Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where he was an active member. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree council # 1197, Fostoria, Fostoria Eagles # 430, former "Ford Wagon Train" camper, an active volunteer in St. Wendelin activities such as the parish festival, baseball field preparations, and basketball concessions.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday 10:30 AM in St Wendelin Church, where a Rosary will be prayed at 10 AM.
Burial will follow in the Parish cemetery with military honors by the United Veterans of Fostoria.
Visitation will be held Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 PM in Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 PM.
Memorials may be made to chaity of the donors choice.

Earl Eugene "Bud" Hummel
Date: 2005-01-08

Earl Eugene "Bud" Hummel, 70, passed away quietly in his sleep Saturday, January 8, 2005 in Sun City, Arizona. A former Fostoria resident, Bud moved to Arizona to enjoy his retirement.
Bud was born October 28, 1934 to the late Earl R. & Frances (Allen) Hummel. He was a 1952 graduate of Fostoria High School, and then joined the US Marine Corp. soon after graduation, serving his country four years.
Bud married Sandy Keller on June 29, 1957 in Fostoria, Ohio and she survives in Sun City, Arizona.
Also surviving are five sons- Lenny (Deb) Hummel, Wilmont, Ohio, Jeff Hummel, Brazil, South America, Todd (Cheryl) Hummel, Nashport, Ohio, Scott Hummel, Ohio, Kenny (Sonia) Hummel, Clinton, Ohio, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother- Robert (Beth) Hummel Sr., Fostoria, along with several nieces and nephews.
Bud was predeceased by a brother- James Hummel, and a sister- Mildred (John Richard) Smith.
There will be no visitation, cremation will take place along with a memorial service to be held at a later date here in Ohio.
Memorials are suggested to a favorite charity, or the Veterans' Administration c/o Hoening Funeral Home 242 W. Tiffin Street, Fostoria, Ohio 44830
