Dwight C. Blayney 12/21/2003
Dwight C. Blayney, age 88, formerly of Cardington, passed away Sunday afternoon December 21,2003 at the Woodside Care Center. He was born on Dec. 31, 1914 in Edison to the late Ray and Jessie (Ireland) Blayney.
On February 10,1940 he married Henrietta McArthur in Marion and she preceded him on death on Nov, 14,1992.
Dwight graduated from Mt. Gilead High School in 1933. He then spent 2 years in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he was stationed overseas in the Pacific for 16 months.
Throughout his lifetime Dwight was involved in many different business ventures. He and his father were partners for 8 _ years with Blayney's Lunch in Mt. Gilead. He and his wife Henrietta were partners in Blayney's Shoe and Repair store in Cardington for 6 years and they also built Rainbow trailer court in 1959 and Dwight operated it until he sold it in 1995. In addition, Dwight worked 20 years at the Galion Manufacturing Co. where he retired in 1980.
Survivors include his daughter Lana Rae Blayney of Marion and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents Dwight was preceded in death by three brothers Dalton, Hoyt and an infant Richard; and 2 sisters Eileen and Thelma.
Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home on Tuesday December 23,2003 from 5-8 PM where funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10 AM. Pastor Ronald Ellyson of Gilead Friends Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy.
Virgil D. Denton 12/18/2003
Virgil D. Denton, age 89, of County Road 169, Cardington, died Thursday morning, December 18, 2003 at Woodside Village Care Center. He was born February 26, 1914 in Ashley to the late Owen W. and Fredia (Wood) Denton.
Virgil was married on February 26, 1939, in Cardington to Marguerite Heacock . She preceded him in death on February 20, 1992 after 53 years of marriage.
A life long farmer Virgil had worked with the local schools FFA groups, served as a Lincoln Township Trustee and had co-founded the Morrow County Junior Shepherds Club. He was also a member of the Cardington First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Denny Denton of Fredericktown; a daughter, Karen Stephens of Cardington; grandchildren, Doug, Scott and Greg Denton, Sabrina Conter, Dawn Knapp and Craig Davis, step-grandchildren, Denise Steckel, Greg Stephens, and Linda Price; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Denton of Cardington; and a sister, Maxine Bont of Mt. Gilead.
In addition to his wife and parents, Virgil was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Denton and 3 sisters, Virginia Hobson, Evelyn Perry and Edith McClish.
Friends may call Sunday, December 21, 2003 at Gompf Funeral Home from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday, December 22, 2003 at 11AM with Pastor John Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.

Stella Wells 12/13/2003
Stella Wells, age 77, of Dogwood Drive in Delaware, past away December 13,2003 to see her loving heavenly father and late family. She died of a massive stroke at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. She was born on May 1, 1926 in Preston Kentucky to the late Josh and Gladys (Bentley) Gray.
Stella was a loving, giving and passionate mother and grandmother. She lived her life for her family and loved ones. Her smile, laughter and the wonderful memories she gave to her family will not be forgotten. She will be painfully missed.
In addition to her parents Stella was preceded in death by her husband Paul Wells, Sr.; her son Paul Wells Jr. and infant daughter Deleaiah Ann Wells; sister Gilda Gray-Crager and brother Darwin Gray.
She is survived by the ones for whom she lived her life. Her 2 daughters, Chesalee Wells-Newson of Mt. Gilead; Deborah Wells-Osborne of Delaware; and her son Michael Josh Wells of Delaware.
She is also survived by her grandchildren; Crystal(Miller) Spires, Cardington; Jack Miller and Jennifer Miller both of Marion and Tyler Osborne Cardington. Deleaiah (Branch) Vaughn of N.C.,Desiree Branch and Danella Branch of Cardington, Joshua Howard of Mt. Gilead and Jamie (Wells) Valentine of Galion.
And last, but not least, the ones that could really make her smile and feel complete her great-grandchildren. Kyndall and Cayman Spires; Mariah and Summer Morgan; Darian, Devin, Morgan and Elijah Hursey; Miranda and Logan Baisden all of Cardington; Alexis and Stella Miller and the late Brian Miller of Marion; Chetland, Weston and Avery Vaughn of Raleigh NC; and Taylor and Carter Valentine of Galion.

Marjorie Ruth Carpenter 12/12/2003
Marjorie Ruth Carpenter, age 91, of County Road 135, Cardington, died peacefully Friday morning, December 12, 2003 at Kingston Care Center in Marion. Marjorie was born on February 24, 1912 to the late Arthur and Roma (Gillson) Sellers.
On December 31, 1936 in Mansfield, Ohio, Marjorie married Donald O. Carpenter, and he preceded her in death.
Throughout her lifetime Marjorie was a farmer's wife and homemaker. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Cardington and was active in the chancel choir for 50 years.
Survivors include her son, Richard Carpenter (Karen) of Columbus, OH; sister, Lucille Heacock of Cardington; 2 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington on Friday, December 19, 2003 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 20 at the First United Methodist Church in Cardington with Pastor John Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Union Cemetery.

Janice J. High 12/12/2003
Janice J. High, age 71, of Co. Rd. 24, Cardington, died late Friday evening at her residence. She was born on October 11, 1932 to the late Gilbert and Bessie (Moodispaugh) Young.
Janice had worked at Ranco for 43 years and retired from there in 1994. She was a member of the Eagles, VFW and Amvets all of Delaware.
She is survived by 4 sons and their wives, Robert and Terri Clark of Marengo, Richard and Patricia Clark, Albert 'Bud' and Beverly High Jr. and Steven and Angela High all of Cardington; 1 daughter and her husband Rebecca and Mike Thomas of Cardington; 3 brothers, Harold Young Sr. of Ft. Myers FL, Lawrence 'Sonny' Young of Mt. Gilead and Kenneth 'Kenny' Young of Fulton; 1 sister-in-law Peggy Young of Mt. Gilead; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Janice was preceded in death by 2 husbands Earl E. Clark and Albert N. High Sr.; Special companion and friend Charles L. Miller; 1 brother Ronald Young; 1 sister Katherine Bean and a grandson Myron Clark.
