BETTY J. REASBECK, 87, formerly of Mt. Pleasant Pike, Martins Ferry, Ohio died Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on January 15, 1917, a daughter of the late Harry P. and Marion R. (Rentsch) Colman.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry. Betty was a retired library assistant at Wheeling-Jesuit University, Wheeling and had been employed at the former Zimmerman's Jewerly Store, Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Reasbedk; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann and Judith Ellen Reasbeck and a great grandson, Sean McKitrick.
She is survived by a son, Robert H. (Maureen) Reasbeck, Jr., Warwood, W. Va.; two daughters, Marian (Richard) Skorich, Bellaire and Marjorie (David) Artman, Duncan Falls, Ohio; brother, Harry P. Coleman II, Martins Ferry; three sisters, Marjorie Williams, Glendale, W. Va., Marion Finney, and Carol Holmes, both of Martins Ferry. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated Friday, December 10, 2004 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas A. Magary as the celebrant. Interment followed in St. Mary's cemetery, Martins Ferry.

MICHELLE R. (SHELLEY) (McKINNEY) DUSTMAN, 41, of Market Street, Wheeling, W. Va. died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at Ohio Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Japan on September 12, 1963, a daughter of Rebecca D. (Roberts) McKinney of Martins Ferry.
Michelle was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgeport, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John C. Roberts and her paternal granmother, Kathryn McKinney.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a son, Derek V. Dustman, Wheeling; two brothers, John McKinney, Columbus, Ohio and Clint (Shawn) McKinney, Kansas; maternal grandmother, Wanda Roberts, Martins Ferry and father in law, Donald Dustman, Kansas.
Services were private at the convenience of the family.

MARGARET C. CECIL, 101, formerly of Crawford Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio died Thursday, December 9, 2004 in Brea, Ca.
She was born in New Haven, Pa on March 9, 1903, a daughter of the late John and Julie Ann (Hornik) Birka.
She was a retired 30 year employee of Continental Can of Weirton, WV. She was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred D. Cecil; three sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are a great nephew, James Maynard, Chino Hills, CA.; great niece, Judy LeBree, Warren, MI. and two great-great-nephews and one great-great-niece.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 18, 2004 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating. Interment followed in Riverview cemetery, Martins Ferry.

ALVIN E. BERTSCHEY, 68, of N. 9th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio died Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at East Ohio Regional Long Term Care.
Alvin was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on November 3, 1936, a son of the late Lawrence A. and Elsie B. (McKelvey) Bertschy.
He was a former employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Martins Ferry plant. He also served in the U. S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William and one brother, Kenneth Bertschy.
He is survived by a sister in law, Evelyn D. (Wilkins) Bertschey of Fenton, MI.; niece, Judy (Donald) Jennings and two nephews, Robert J. (Stephanie) and Thomas E. (Beth) Bertschy.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, Cor. 4th and Hanover Sts., Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.

RUDOLPH E. TRATAR, 85, formerly of Park Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio died Monday, December 27, 2004 at East Ohio Regional Long Term Care.
He was born in Creighton, Pa. on September 7, 1919, a son of the late Anton and Frances (Germack) Tratar.
He was a retired electrical engineer at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, a W.W. II U. S. Navy veteran and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna M. (Voytecek) Tratar and one brother, Anthony Tratar.
Surviving are a son, Bruce E. Tratar of Martins Ferry and a sister, Frances Keene of Gastonia, N.C.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2004 with Rev. Thomas A. Magary as the celebrant. Interment followed in St. Mary's cemetery, Martins Ferry.

ROY MARKUS, 84, of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Sunday, January 30, 2005 at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
Roy was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on September 16, 1920, a son of the late Mike and Elizabeth (Kosha) Markus.
He was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Martins Ferry Plant, shipping department. He served in the U. S. Army in the 80th Infrantry Division during W.W. II and received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike and Julius Markus.
Surviving are his wife, Madalyn M. (Rosic) Markus; two daughters, Linda S. Wallace, Columbus, Ohio and Kathleen (Stephen) Kozloff, of Portland Oregon; son, Roy A. Markus, Knoxville, Tenn.
Funeral services and interment in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio was held at the convenience of the family.

DONNA F. CATON-HIGGS, 77, formerly of Laslo Apts, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Rosewood Manor, Yorkville, Ohio.
She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on March 6, 1927, a daughter of the late Harry and Ruth (Smith) Harding.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Caton and second husband, George Higgs; one brother, Charles Harding and one sister, Ida Nalley.
She is survived by son, Roger (Cheryl) Caton; daughter, Shirley (Lawrence) Savage, all of Roseville, Ohio; two brothers, Harry Harding, Sumerduck, Va.; Sanford (Opal) Harding, Warren, Ohio; three sisters, Bonna Henderson, Rock Island, Ill.; Ruth (Joseph) Calabria, Salem, Or.; Eudora (Guido) Magnone, Steubenville, Ohio. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Friday, January 28, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. with Brother Howard Barcus officiating. Interment was held at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

RUTH C. DUDZIK, 83, of Grant Avenue, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on January 8, 1922, a daughter of the late Albert J. and Bertha M. (Geimer) Stubock.
Ruth was a retired employee of the former Tid-Bit Newstand, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Women's Club all of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley S. Dudzik, four sister; Mary Elizabeth Sullivan, Margaret Gosney, Dorothy Samol and infant sister, Bertha Marie Stubock.
She is survived by four sons, Stanley S. (Judy) Dudzik, Jr., Morgantown, WV; P. Michael Dudzik, St. Pete Beach, FL; Albert J. (Lydia) Dudzik, Fairview Heights, Ill; John E. (Dorothy) Dudzik, Wheeling, WV; two daughters Mary Ann (Douglas) Laslo, Petaluma, Calif.; Kathy L. (Craig) Gazzola,, Martins Ferry, Ohio; sister Lillian A. Sommers, Colerain, Ohio; 10 grandchildren Stephen, Ryan, Trevor, Summer, C. Aaron, Megan and David Dudzik; Krissy Camacho; Stephanie Laslo; Olivia Gazzola; four great grandchildren Lawrence and Lexiss Camacho; Sierra and Carter Dudzik.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 28, 2005 with Msgr. George Coyne as the celebrant. Interment followed at St. Mary's cemetery Martins Ferry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SMC 2000, 24 N. 4th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935 or American Lung Assoc. of Ohio, 1950 Arlingate Lane, Columbus, OH 43228-4102.

MARY E. PHILO, of Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Monday, February 7, 2005, in Belmont Community Hospital, Bellaire, Ohio.
She was born January 5, 1919, the only child of the late Herbert and Louise Freter Philo.
A graduate of the Ohio State University College of Education, Mary taught in Ohio, Wyoming, Nevada, ending her career in Martins Ferry.
Through her unflagging campaign, the trillium (Wake Robin) is the state wildflower of Ohio. Mary was a member of Martins Ferry Area Historical Society and curator at the Sedgewick House Museum.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Friday, February 11, 2005 at 7 p.m., with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating. Interment was held in Greenwood cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Martins Ferry Area Historical Society, Hanover Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.

EARL H. (SHORTY) SANTAVICCA, 92, of Martins Ferry, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
He was born September 22, 1912, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Bernadino and Concetta (DiMaurizio) Santavicca, from Barisciano, Italy.
Earl waas a retiree of Nickles Bakery, having been employed there for 46 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant son, Robert Lynn; a grandson, Gary Francis Santavicca; two brothers, Albert and Tom Santavicca; two sisters, Assunta DePasquale and Kathryn Bakosh.
Earl is survived by his wife of 69 years, Juanita (Stidd) Santavicca; two sons, Francis E. (Thaida) of Pataskala, Ohio and Bernare C. (Gloria) of Martins Ferry; two daughters, Sharon L. (at home), and Janice Andenoro (John), of Sherrard, W. Va.; one brother, William, of Bellaire, Ohio and one sister, Bessie Nemec, of Shadyside, Ohio. In addition, he is survived by two grandsons, Robert L. Santavicca(Tammy) of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Roger Santavicca, Pataskala, Ohio; three granddaughters, Pamela Lanzer (Jeff), of Pataskala, Ohio, Renee Miklas (Mike), Martins Ferry, Ohio and Lisa Rine (Derrick), of St. Clairsville, Ohio. Earl is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Upon his retirement, Earl was never one to sit back and take it easy. He had numerous interests such as restoration of antique automobiles, landscaping, gardening, woodworking, etc., and his heart and soul (and sweat) went into everything he accomplished. He will be sadly missed by his family and numerous friends.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Saturday, February 12, 2005 at 11 a.m. with FatherThomas A. Magary officiating. Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

WILLARD G. TOMER, 82, of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W. Va.
He was born in Bellaire, Ohio on July 25, 1922, a son of the late Henry and Mary (Garret) Tomer.
He was a retired employee of Weirton Steel a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Martins Ferry and a W.W. II Veteran of the U. S. Army.
In addition to his parents Williard was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalind (Brynoski) Tomer and one brother, Travis H. Tomer.
He is survived by two sons, Willard G. (Sally) Tomer, Gloucester, Va. and Travis C. (Linda) Tomer, Martins Ferry; granddaughter, Jessica Tomer, Newport News, Va. and a sister, Lucille Newell, Orlando, Fl.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
