JULIA M. DAVIS, 72, of So. Zane Highway, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died October 15, 2006 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on October 20, 1933, daughter of the late Harold and Julia (Lado) Wright Garlowick.
She was a graduate of the former Ruth Brant School of Nursing and a retired Registered Nurse at East Ohio Regional Hospital and a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church all of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack"Rabbie" Davis.
She is survived by daughter, Julie (Michael) Nelson, Martins Ferry; three grandchildren, Richard (Jessica) Nelson, Martins Ferry, Michael (Ashley) Nelson, Thomasville, NC, Julie Nelson, Columbus, Oh.; three great grandchildren, Juliauna Rose, Shayia Grace and Michael August; two sisters, Lois (Donald) Poindexter, St. Clairsville, Oh. and Carol (Earl) Orend of Lansing, Oh
A private family service was held Monday afternoon, October 16, 2006.

MERREL J. KYSER, 87, of Commercial Drive, Lansing, Ohio and formerly of Rose Hills Towers, Bellaire, Ohio died Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Belmont Community Hospital, Bellaire, Ohio.
She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on December 20, 1918, daughter of the late Robert and Merrel (Hall) Winland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Kyser; daughter, Carolyn Carpenter; four brothers, Tom, John, William and Robert Winland; two sisters, Thelma Miller and Bessie Utsinger.
She is survived by three sons, Orville (Sue) Green, Martins Ferry, Oh.; Lawrence Green, Bellaire, Oh.; Allan (Susan) Green, Lansing, Oh.; two daughters, Evelyn Fador, Bellaire, Oh.; Merrell L. (Ed) Kidder, Bridgeport, Oh.. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, and many great and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

PHYLLIS JEAN THOMAS, 64, of West Dix Road, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Monday, November 27, 2006 at Heartland of Lansing Care Center, Lansing, Ohio.
She was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on February 17, 1942, daughter of the late Jesse and Garnet (Norman) Jarrell.
She was the retired owner of Thomas Printing, and a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Chester Jarrell and a sister, Pauline Schnelle.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Thomas; son, Keith M. Thomas, Reynoldsburg, Oh.; daughter, Nancy L. (Doug) Henning, Baltimore, Md.; sister, Betty (Robert) Halman, Norfolk, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2006 with Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 4th & Walnut Sts., Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935 or the American Cancer Society, Serving Belmont Co., 3612 Maple Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.

GEORGANNA R. DAVIS, 79, of Main Street, Wheeling, WV, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Heartland of Lansing Care Center, Lansing, Ohio.
She was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on July 28, 1927, daughter of the late Robert B. and Alice B. (Riddle) Davis.
She was a retired employee of the M. Marsh & Sons, Wheeling, WV., after 42 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Robert Davis and one sister, Nancy Orsatti.
She is survived by a daughter, Sonya (Mark) Neuman, Richland, Ohio.
Private services were held.

RUTH J. BENNING, 89, of Hughes Ave., Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio.
She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on May 12, 1917, daughter of the late Phillip and Mary (Urwin) Zimmerman.
She was retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where she was employed as Office Supervisor. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Bridgeport, Ohio, former Sunday School Teacher and active in Ladies of the Church. She was a member of East Ohio Reg. Hosp. Auxiliary, Past President & Treasurer for 30 yrs., Ivy Twig of E.O.R. H. Aux., Martins Ferry-Bellaire Lady Elks #2836.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Willard "Jack" Woods; two brothers, Urwin A. and William L. Zimmerman: two sisters, Kathryn Neff and Audrey Britton.
She is survived by her husband, John J. Benning; brother, Thomas Zimmerman, Martins Ferry; sister, Jean Jones, Belpre, Ohio; two grandsons, William J. (Rebecca) Woods, Nashport, Ohio; Bruce M. (Stacy) Woods, Cranberry Twp., Pa.; granddaughter, Jennifer (Brian) Richardson, Adena, Ohio., and nine great grandchildren
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Pastor Scott Ness officiating.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to East Ohio Reg. Hospital Building Fund, 90 N. 4th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.

WILLIAM FRANCIS GRAMMER, 85, of N. 6th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio died Friday, December 8, 2006 at the home of his son, in Cortland, Ohio.
He was born in Bellaire, Ohio on April 1, 1921, son of the late Henry and Helena (Czinski) Grammer.
He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Yorkville Plant having served for 42 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry; a former parish council member as well as a member of the funeral choir. He also coached the Martins Ferry Swim Team for thirty-one years and founded the Belmont Co. Swim League. The pool in Martins Ferry is named after him. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II.
In additiion to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lora E. (Donley) Grammer; four brothers, Elwood, Paul, Harold and Henry; two sisters, Grace Brubacher and Delores Cunningham.
He is survived by son, Michael William (Karen) Grammer, Cortland, Ohio; two daughters, Sharon Lee (Glen) Stone, Jacksonville, Florida and Jenny (Eric) Ordway, Dallas, Ga.; friend, Shirley Grove, Martins Ferry; eight grandchildren, Ron and Chris Hanke, Katherine and Victoria Grammer, and Megan, Jordan, and Madison, and Nathan Ordway.; four great grandchildren, Zachary and Kelsey Hanke, and Chris and Kavyn Hanke.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Monday, December 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Thomas A. Magary as the celebrant.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
Rosary service was held Sunday at 2:30 followed by Wake service at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Martins Ferry Swim Team, Recreation Dept., Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.

GEORGE W. SMITH, 74, of Washington Blvd., Martins Ferry, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Wheeling Hospital.
George was born in Columbus, Oh. on July 9, 1932, the son of the late George and Nellie (Rice) Smith.
He was a crane operator at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Martins Ferry Plant for 22 years until he retired in 1994. He also served in the Korean War with U. S. Army, and he was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Martins Ferry.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Roland, and Theodore Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Judy C. (Hervol) Smith; two daughters, Pamela (Rick) Miller, Martinsville, Ind. and Sharon (Vince) Evelsizer, Little Elm, TX.; a son, Bruce (Dawn) Smith, Tiltonsville, OH.; two sisters, Jenny (Roland) Habig, Senecaville, OH. and Julia (Howard) Sykes, Martins Ferry. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 10 A.M. at the funeral home, with Rev. Father Thomas A. Magary officiating.
Interment followed in St. Mary's cemetery, Martins Ferry, Ohio.

DOROTHY M. WERNIG, 86, formerly of South 7th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at East Ohio Regional Long Term Care, Martins Ferry.
She was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on March 31, 1920, daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Carter) Wernig.
She was a retired 50 year employee of the Stone and Thomas of Wheeling, W.Va. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, member of the Fidelis Class, former church treasurer and very active in the church food and fellowship ministry of Martins Ferry.
She is survived by special friends, Joe & Jackie Bednarik and family of Martins Ferry.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Sanders officiating.
Interment followed in Riverview cemetery Martins Ferry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Food and Fellowship, 3rd and Locust Sts., Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.

CHARLES M. CROCK, 50, of Clinton Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Saturday, December 30, 2006 at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
He was born in Bellaire, Ohio on August 20, 1956, son of Michael W. Crock of Piston, Pa. and Eileen M. (Wenzel) Gleaves of Martins Ferry, Ohio.
Private services were held.

MARGARET L. GRAYSON, 88, of N. Zane Highway Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Saturday, January 20, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Long Term Care, Martins Ferry.
She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on April 6, 1918, daughter of the late George F. and Kate (Kimes) Romal.
She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church, of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Grayson; brother, G. Frederick Romal; three sisters, Virginia Keller, Kathryn Shrodes and Doris Haddock.
She is survived by daughter, Margi Roberts, Martins Ferry; granddaughter, Amy and her husband, Rudy Vavrock, Martins Ferry; grandson, Michael and his wife, Gracie Roberts, Laredo, Tx. and a sister in law, June Romal, of Aurora, Colo..
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence officiating.
Interment followed in Riverview cemetery, Martins Ferry.
Bereavement services were held at the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m. by the Deacons of the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the 1st Presbyterian Church, 4th & Walnuts Sts., or the Martins Ferry Fire Dept., both of Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.
