WILLIAM B. BRATTON, JR, 63, of So. Huron Street, Wheeling, WVa, died Sunday, October 7, 2007 at his residence.
He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on September 9, 1944, son of the late William B. and Margaret (Bryan) Bratton.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by a daughter, Pamela J. Neiport, Brunswick, Georgia; son, William R. (Cassandra) Bratton, Elmendorf, Texas and three grandchildren.
Services were held at the convenience of the family.

BERNARD E. POLUGA, 85, of N. 8th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Monday, October 29, 2007, at his residence.
He was born in Martins Ferry on July 14, 1922, a son of the late Paul and Catherine (Kusnisz) Poluga.
He was a retired press operator for the former International Harvester of Shadyside, Ohio. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church; and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1421, both of Martins Ferry. Bernard served in the U. S. Navy during W.W. II.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Chester Poluga.
He is survived by his wife, Olga T. (Smila) Poluga; son, Michael E. (Janet) Poluga, Martins Ferry; daughter, Paula C. (Richard) Gorsuch, Columbus, Ohio; three granddaughters, Tammy Lea Weals, Alison (Jeremy) Young, and Alicia Poluga.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2007, with Rev. Thomas A. Magary, as the celebrant.
Mausoleum entombment followed in St. Mary's cemetery Mausoleum, Martins Ferry.
Rosary was recited Wednesday at 3 follow by Wake service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice Inc., 132 Peters Run Rd., Wheeling, W. Va. 26003.

SHIRLEY ANN BURCH, 72, formerly of Kuckuck Lane, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Cumberland Pointe, St. Clairsville, Ohio.
She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on November 10, 1934, a daughter of the late John O. and Edith Shirley (Smith) Keller.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer C. Burch.
She is survived by a daughter, Beth Ann McKelvey, Martins Ferry; a brother, John Keller, Piedmont, Ohio; a sister, Patricia Shemenski, Warrington, Pa. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

HELEN RIGGS, 94, of Sharon Rd., Colerain, Ohio, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio.
She was born in Toronto, Ohio on July 30, 1913, a daughter of the late John and Barbara (Bodnar) Holovacs.
She was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Catholic Women's Club and a member of the choir, all of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard L. Riggs; one brother, Andrew Holovacs; three sisters, Mary Martin, Bertha Schaner and Elizabeth Hilliard.
She is survived by a daughter, Vida Mae Lewis, Bridgeport, Oh.; grandson, Mark Alan (Michelle) Faldoski; great grandson, Kyle P. Faldoski; great granddaughter, Kensie S. Faldoski.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2007 with Rev. Thomas A. Magary as the celebrant.
Interment followed in Riverview cemetery, Martins Ferry.
Rosary was recited Friday at the funeral home at 3 p.m. followed by Wake service at 7:30 p.m.

HEWITT H. NORTEMAN, 85, of Sandusky, Ohio died Thursday, March 19, 2009.
He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on October 14, 1923 the son of the late Homer and Mary (McMahon) Norteman.
He was a graduate of Martins Ferry High School and the University of Cincinnati. He was active in the Alumni Association of Cincinnati, establishing a scholarship for a M. F. graduate who will major in engineering. He lived and worked in Detroit for 55 years. Hewitt was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Clark) Norteman.
He is survived by cousins, Jean (Don) Miller of Sandusky, Hope (Doug) Nottke, Huron, Barbara (Jack) Falfas, Sandusky, Becky (Mike) Nelson, Huron and Margie (Bill) Roll also of Sandusky.
Memorial service was held at the funeral home on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 1 p.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.
Interment followed in Riverview cemetery, Martins Ferry.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, 4th and Hanover Streets, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.

THOMAS P. ZIMMERMAN, 89, of Central Avenue, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 in East Ohio Regional Long Term Care.
He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on February 12, 1920, he was the son of the late Phillip and Mary E. (Urwin) Zimmerman.
He was a retired carpenter for the former William Cooper, Inc. of Wheeling; a member of St. Paul's Luthern Church of Bridgeport; served in the U.S. Army Air Force during W.W. II.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Urwin and William; three sisters, Kathryn Neff, Ruth Benning and Audrey Britton.
Tom is survived by his wife of 61 years, Catherine "Kitty" Zimmerman; son, Timonthy T. Zimmerman, Columbus; three daughters, Judith K. (John) Runkel, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Janet L. (Gary) Zurenko, Kalamazoo, MI.; Cathy J. Zimmerman, Martins Ferry; sister, Majorie J. (Jack) Jones, Belpre, Ohio. He is also survived by four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Karen Torrez officiating.
Interment followed in Weeks cemetery, Bridgeport, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to Belmont Co. Animal Rescue League, 45244 National Road West, St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950 or St. Pauls Luthern Church, 56381 National Road, Bridgeport, Ohio 43912.
Military Honors were given by the Belmont Co. Council of the V.F.W. Saturday at 10:45 a.m.

JOHN J. "JUNIOR" BENNING, 85, of Hughes Ave., Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on May 19, 1923, he was the son of the late John and Susanna (Pitters) Benning.
He was a retired office employee of the former Wheeling-Pitts. Steel, Martins Ferry plant. He was a lifetime member of Saint John's Luthern Church; member of the Ohio River Valley Elks, Lodge #231; American Legion, Post 38; Seibenburger Saxon Club, all of Martins Ferry. John served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth J. (Zimmerman) Benning; two sisters, Elsie (Orville) Beavon and Erma (Kenny) Herr; brother-in-law, William Edler; step-son, Williard "Jack" Woods.
He is survived by a sister, Esther Edler, Fairborn, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.; special friend, Jack Henderson.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Van D. Fisher officiating.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
Elks Lodge held services at the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Luthern Church, N. 4th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.

BARBARA A. CROLLEY, 75, of South Zane Highway, Martins Ferry, Ohio and formerly of Bridgeport, Ohio passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2009.
She was born in Moundsville, W. Va. on June 11, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John and Nellie (Stumbus) Geary.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Bridgeport, Ohio.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hugh Crolley and a sister, Mary Waugaman.
She is survived by daughter, Donna L. (Dale) Schaal; son, Charles John (Shannon) Crolley; daughter, Mary Jo (Tom) Probst; brother, John "Hindu" Geary, all of Martins Ferry; grandson, Jason Schaal; granddaughters, Brittney and Courtney Crolley; grandsons, Jacob and Connor Probst.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Anthony's Church, Bridgeport, Ohio. at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009, with Father Thomas Petronek as the celebrant.
Interment followed at Belmont Co. Memorial Park, St. Clairsville, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Church, 630 Main Street, Bridgeport, Ohio 43912.

JOHN J. KUNZE, "BIG JOHN", 78, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Saturday, December 29, 2012.
John was born in Martins Ferry, OH on August 31, 1934, a son of the late Lawrence and Mary Jeannette (Wagener) Kunze.
He was a retired employee for the former Wheeling-Pitt Steel Mill of Martins Ferry. He was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Martins Ferry. He served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilfred and Donald.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann (Knapp) Kunze; two daughters, JoAnn (Scott) Taylor and Marjorie J. Kunze-Lewis; two sons, John J. Kunze, Jr. and David W. Kunze; grandson, John Lewis; granddaughter, Amanda Lewis; brother, Ronald (Jane) Kunze; two sisters, Phyllis Tate and Suzanne (Henry) Phemester; two special people John Huston and Helen Sun.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Monday December 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Larry Lewis officiating.
Interment followed at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
