CATHERINE M. ZIMMERMAN, "KITTY" 91, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Monday, December 2, 2013
She was born in Clarington, OH on November 22, 1922, the daughter of the late John H. and Myrtle A. (Morris) Brake.
She was a retired employee of the former Hub Department Store and a dietician at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
In addition to her parents and her husband of 61 years, Thomas P. Zimmerman, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ermine, Morris and John Alvin Brake.
She is survived by son, Timothy T. Zimmerman, Columbus, OH; three daughters: Judith K. (John) Runkel, Sewickley, PA; Janet L. (Gary) Zurenko, Kalamazoo, MI; Cathy J. Zimmerman, Martins Ferry, OH; sister-in-law, Almeda Brake, Sardis, OH. She is also survived by four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Friday, December 6, 2013 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Pastor Karen Torrez officiating.
Interment followed at Weeks cemetery, Bridgeport, OH.
Memorial contributions may be made to Belmont Co. Animal Rescue League, 45244 National Road West, St. Clairsville, OH 43950 or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 56381 National Road, Bridgeport, Ohio 43912.

PAUL ROBERT MOCZEK, 77, of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away at noon, on Monday December 30, 2013 at Wheeling Hospital. Born July 1, 1936 in Benwood, WV to Stanley and Alice Lowe Moczek, Paul was a 1955 graduate of St. John Central High School in Bellaire, OH. There he met and fell in love with his surviving wife of fifty-six years, Shirley Ann (Tankovits) Moczek. Together they raised four daughters: Paula (Marty) Spanner of Bethel Park, PA; Jayme (Perry) Nardo of Shadyside, OH; JoEllen (Louis) Pytlak of Glen Dale, WV; and Dawn (Todd) Zelczak of Cincinnati, OH. Paul and Shirley are loving and proud grandparents to their baker's dozen: Marty (Sarah) Spanner, Matthew Nardo, Benjamin (Alison) Spanner, Bryan Nardo, Kaitlyn Pytlak, Natalie Spanner, Kyle Pytlak, Daniel Spanner, Hannah Pytlak, Luke Nardo, Riley Zelczak, Steven Zelczak, and Audrey Zelczak.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by brothers Harry, Tom, Mike, his sister Bette, and his two brother-in-laws, Joe "Sonny" Tankovits, and Bill Collignon. Surviving are Paul's sisters Nancy (Tony) Anthony, Rosalie (Bob) Gillespie, his brother Pat (Clara Lou) Moczek, and his sisters-in-law: Marlene (Bill) Collignon, Henrietta (Harry) Moczek, Helen (Mike )Moczek, and Jean (Joe) Tankovits - as well as several special nieces and nephews.
Paul worked at Bayer Corporation (Mobay) for over 30 years as the supervisor of drafting. Paul took great joy in being an active member of St. Mary's Parish and served as the Parish Council President for several years. Paul and his wife Shirley helped rekindle the St. Mary's chapter of the Infant of Prague Society in 1988 and each summer's annual novena to the Infant Jesus brings hope to hundreds of Catholics in the Ohio Valley. Paul was known by many as a man of strong faith, highly devoted to the Blessed Mother. He is also affectionately remembered by his family as a gifted singer, talented carpenter, avid photographer, ingenious trickster, and entertaining "Pumpkin Sucker" storyteller.
Rosary was recited at the funeral home Thursday, January 2, 2013, follwed by a wake service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, concelebrated by Fr. Thomas Marut and Fr. Thomas Magary, was held Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11am at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Martins Ferry.
Entombment in the St. Mary cemetery Mausoleum followed Mass.

JERRY B. ARNOLD, 82, formerly of So. Zane Highway, Martins Ferry, OH, died Sunday, January 5, 2014.
He was born in Fairview, OH on September 6, 1931, a son of the late Ray B. and Elsie F. (Baker) Arnold.
He was a retired employee of the former International Harvester of Shadyside, OH. He was a 32 Degree Mason; Member of the Scottish Rite of Steubenville and a member of the Kirkwood Lodge #0446 F & AM of Hendrysburg, OH, member of the American Legion Post 38 of Martins Ferry. He served in the U>S. Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty and Peggie Arnold and two brothers, Billy and Paul R. Arnold.
In addition to his wife, Vivian (Stevens) Arnold, he is survived by daughter, Susan D. Arnold-Pack, Martins Ferry, OH; granddaughter, Andrea M. Pack, Wheeling, WV; brother, Jimmie B. (Norma) Arnold, Hopedale, OH; sister-in-law, Wanda Arnold, Magnolia, OH; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at the funeral home Wednesday January 8, 2014 at 7 p.m. with Pastor Bob Merritt officiating.
Interment private at convenience of the family in Fairview cemetery Fairview, OH.
The Bel. Co. Council of the American Legion gave military honors Wednesday at the funeral home at 3 p.m. followed by masonic services at 5 p.m. by the Kirkwood Lodge #0446 F & AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kirkwood Lodge # 0446 F& AM Henrysburg, OH.

ALVIN K. WALTON, "PIE", 90, of N. 3rd Street, Martins Ferry, OH, died Sunday, January 19, 2014.
He was born in Martins Ferry, on November 26, 1923, the son of the late John Alvin and Stella (Yoho) Walton.
He was employed as a lineman for Ohio Power for 18 Yrs. and a former employee for the city of Martins Ferry Power Plant for 23 Yrs. He was a member of the Alerts Fire Dept. and Italian Club of Martins Ferry; Sons of Italy of Bellaire; former Eagles and the V.F.W. of Martins Ferry. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt in WW II. 1st Armored Division, Africa & Italy Campaign., Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, EAME TH SER MED W/4 BR STARS, Naples-Foffia, Rome-Arno, No Appennines PO Valley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose M. (Bianconi) Walton; sister, Ina Jo Dawkins.
He is survived by son, Kenneth E. (Cheryl) Walton, Hagerstown, MD; daughter, Sylvia Rhodes, Martins Ferry; six grandchildren, Kristen Nugent; Katie Neavin; Lewie Rhodes; Dan Rhodes; Adam Walton; Mallory Rumler., and ten great grandchildren
Funeral service was held at the funeral home Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating,
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
The M. F. Fire Dept. held services Friday at 7 p.m. The "Belmont County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars" gave military honors Saturday prior to the service at 12:45.

SALLY L. WILLIAMS, 87, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Sunday, January 26, 2014.
Sally was born in Wheeling, WV on September 10, 1926, the daughter of the late William E. and Margaret B. (Weigel) Joseph.
She was a retired employee of the former Sears of Wheeling. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Williams.
She is survived by five daughters, Kathy J. (Vincent) Keller; Becky Johnson, both of Martins Ferry; Ruth Ann (Mark) Sanfort, St. Peters, Missouri; Carolyn (James) Redinger, Columbus, OH; Madalyn (Abner) Jacobs, Gretna, VA; two sons, Bruce Lodge, Beallsville, OH; and John Williams, Lansing, OH; She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at the funeral home, Saturday February 1, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence officiating.
Interment at Union cemetery, St. Clairsville, Ohio.

MARYANNA (MARYANN) L. SNEZEK, 72, of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 20, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Maryann was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 8, 1936, the daughter of the late Alberto and Helen (Yaczola) Dally of St. Clairsville, Ohio.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her grandson, Bobby Brayer.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Chet Snezek; her daughters, Louann Tedrick, Dyann Loudermilk, and Bethann Brayer; her sons-in-law, Scott Tedrick, Mike Loudermilk and Bob Brayer; her grandchildren, Bryan Brayer, Tyler Tedrick, Liam Loudermilk, Joey Tedrick and Lena Loudermilk.
She attended Duquesne University where she met Chet and earned her Bachelors degree in Business Administration. Her true love was teaching and she began her career at St. Mary's Central Grade School (Martins Ferry) teaching music, history, and English. She directed many memorable Christmas Shows and 8th Grade Musicals there as well. She also taught English at St. John's Central High School and one of her greatest pleasures was to meet former students and catch up on their achievements. After her retirement she worked part-time as a switchboard operator for Ohio Valley Medical Center.
Maryann was very involved in the Catholic Church and loved to "pray twice" through her singing. She previously directed the St. Frances Cabrini choir and was a soloist for many years. Until recently she was a volunteer at the Catholic Neighborhood Center. She always had time to listen to her daughters and loved to hear their stories about her grandchildren. She never gave up an opportunity to "teach" and share her wisdom with all of them.
She will always be remembered and will have a special place in the hearts of her husband, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated Monday, March 23, 2009 at St. Frances Cabrini Church at 10 a.m. with Father Dale Tornes as the celebrant.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
Scripture services was held in the funeral home Sunday at 3 p.m.

AVA M. LINDSEY, 4 months, of Belmont Street, Bellaire, Ohio died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at her residence.
Ava was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on November 12, 2008, the infant daughter of Tiffani M. Lindsey.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a sister, Kendra L. Lindsey, Bellaire; maternal grandparents, Frank "Kip" and Crystal (Johnson) Lindsey; maternal great grandparents, Frank and Carolyn (Davis) Lindsey; step grandmother, Jennifer Blazevich; step aunt, Samantha Blazevich; aunts, Tamika C. and Serena Lindsey; uncle, Zack L. and Kyle Lindsey, all of Bridgeport; numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Noon with Frank Lindsey officiating.

JERRY A. ROBERTS, 70, of St. Clairsville and formerly of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Monday, March 23, 2009 at Country Club Retirement Center, Bellaire, Ohio.
He was born on Dutch Hill, Martins Ferry on March 13, 1939, a son of the late Gernard M. and Freda B. (Bauknecht) Roberts.
He was a retired employee of the Marx Toy Factory. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Bridgeport and also enjoyed the St. Clairsville Senior Center.
He is survived by two brothers, William A. (Edna) Roberts, St. Clairsville and Thomas A. (Dolores) Roberts, Colerain, Ohio.Funeral services were held at the funeral home Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Karen Torrez officiating.Interment followed in Olive Branch cemetery, Harrisville, Ohio.

JOHN McKINNEY ROBERTS, 38, formerly of Martins Ferry, Ohio died Tuesday, March 31, 2009.
He was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on August 24, 1970, the son of Rebecca D. (Roberts) McKinney of Martins Ferry.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Michelle Dustman; maternal grandfather, John C. Roberts and paternal grandmother, Kathryn McKinney.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Clint (Shawn) McKinney, Independence, Kansas; maternal grandmother, Wanda Roberts, St. Clairsville; special friend, Jeremy Hill, Wheeling; John Tucker, Martins Ferry and Sherri of Yorkville; special nephew, Derek Dustman, Wheeling, W. Va.;
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Thursday, April 2, 2009, at 8 p.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Belmont Co. Animal Rescue League, 45244 National Road West, St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950.

MICHAEL WILLIAM GRAMMER, 56, of Cortland, Ohio passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009 with his wife at his side.
He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on December 28, 1952, the son of the late William F. and Lora E. (Donley) Grammer.
Mike was employed for the past 25 years with the Ohio State Parks as a manager, spending 18 years at Pymatuning State Park and the last seven years at Mosquito Lake State Park. He was a recipient of the ODNR's highest award, the Meritorious Life Saving Award; a graduate of the Ohio Certified Public Manager's program and had received several Innovation Ohio honors.
Mike was a loving husband and father, and is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen (Gossett) Grammer; twin daughters, Katherine and Victoria; and two sisters, Sharon Stone (Glen) of Villa Rica, GA. and Jenny Ordway (Eric) of Dallas, GA.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating.
Interment followed in Gates of Heaven cemetery, Lafferty, Ohio.
Wake service was held at the funeral home Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
