JOHN J. SPINDER, 71, of Adams Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, WV.
John was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on November 4, 1938, he was the son of the late John A. and Stella A. (Franczak) Spinder.
He was a retired pipe fitter at the former Capital Manufacturing of Lansing, OH.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy J. (Brothers) Spinder; daughter, Joella M. Spinder, Martins Ferry ; son, Donald E. (Toni) Walker, Yorkville, OH; two sisters, Mary E. Edwards and Katherine V. Hood, both of Martins Ferry, OH; grandson, Donald E. Walker, III, Yorkville, OH.
Services were private at the convenience of family.

CHARLES A. (CHARLIE) BELL, 72, of S. 3rd Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on July 13, 1937, a son of the late Edward and Mary J. (Williams) Bell.
Charlie was a former employee for the City of Martins Ferry; Consolidated Coal and Wheeling Brake and Block.
He is survived by three daughters, Pam S. (Harold) Brown, Karen L. Bell, both of Bismark, AR.; Sandra K. Bell, Martins Ferry, OH; son, Charles E. Bell, St. Clairsville, OH; two brothers, Edward (Shirley) Bell, Colerain, OH; George Bell, Martins Ferry, OH; sister, Ocie M. Moore, Martins Ferry, OH. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Memorial service was held at the funeral home Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 7 p.m.

JAMES A TRAVIS, 57, of S. 7th. St. Martins Ferry, OH, died, Monday, May 17, 2010 at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
He was born in Bellaire, OH, on December 2, 1952, a son of the late James S. and Virginia P. (Crawford) Travis.
James is survived by his fiance'e, Mary Schramm, ; two daughters, Betty Jo and Virginia Travis, all of Martins Ferry; two sisters, Diana Travis, Canton, OH and Debbie Farr, St.Clairsville, OH; brother, Gary Travis; two granddaughters, Lynette and Jamie Travis, also of Martins Ferry.
Memorial service was held at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses.

EVELYN V. SCHEEHLE, 87, of Orchid Drive, Martins Ferry, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010.
She was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on June 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Edith (Sedgwick) Speidel.
She was a retired former co-owner of Scheehle Produce ; a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, both of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Scheehle, Sr.; three sisters, Anna Catherine, Mary Martha Speidel and Betty Harrigan; brother, Frank Speidel.
She is survived by two sons, Robert T. (Cheryl) Scheehle, Jr., Martins Ferry and Thomas F. (Amy) Scheehle, Mt. Pleasant, OH; daughter, Marianne (Kenneth) Grate, Martins Ferry; four grandchildren, Carriann, Rob, Tom and Sara., and three great grandchildren
Funeral service was held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.
Interment followed in Riverview cemetery, Martins Ferry.

DONNA L. (BRIGGS) POWELL, 65, Wheeling, WV, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at her residence.
She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on November 25, 1944, the daughter of the late Edward J. and Norma J. (Smith) Briggs.
She was a retired employee of Sledd's Inc., Elm Grove, WV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Powell.
She is survived by son, Robert E. Powell, Wheeling, WV; daughter, Tracee Lee Powell, Mt. Morris, PA; sister, Connie (and her partner, Sandra Lusk) Smith; grandson, Adam R. Powell, Beech Bottom, WV; grandson, Austin King, Beech Bottom, WV; grandson, Dylan P. Harmon, Mt. Morris, PA; granddaughter, Anna Beth Powell, Moundsville, WV; grandson, Samuel Vincent Powell, Moundsville, WV.
Funeral service was held at the funeral home, Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr officiating.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH

DORIS V. (FOGLE) DEW, 87, of Indiana Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio died June 2, 2010 in East Ohio Regional Hospital Long Term Care, Martins Ferry as the result of cancer.
She was born in Ohio Co., WV on Nov. 11, 1922, a daughter of the late Vera H. Gaither Fogle and Edward C. Fogle. The Fogle family made their home in Bellaire and later in Martins Ferry.
Doris was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Martins Ferry and Bellaire Chapter 194 of the Eastern Stars
She is a 1943 graduate of Bellaire High School. Over the years, Doris was employed at various jobs, including as a receptionist, a telephone operator and as a bookkeeper for Walter's Heating formerly of Martins Ferry. In her later years she faithfully served as a volunteer at East Ohio Regional Hospital. She was honored by the hospital in May of this year for having given 1600 volunteer hours.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Dew whom she married on Jan. 26, 1946 and a brother Edward C. Fogle.
She is survived by one sister, Vera E. Graham.
At her request, there is no visitation.
Entombment in Holly Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Pleasant Grove.

KENNETH ALAN JONES, 59, of So.3rd Street, Martins Ferry, OH and formerly of Maynard, OH died Friday, June 11, 2010 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
He was born in Martins Ferry, OH on October 16, 1950, a son of the late Kenneth A. and Joyce E. (Uhazy) Jones.
Kenneth was a retired registered nurse.
He is survived by three brothers, Steven W. Jones, Barnesville, OH; Ronald W. (Janet) Jones, Bridgeport, OH; Warner L (Denise) Jones, Ocala, FL; special friend, Marian J. Martin, St. Clairsville, OH; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at the convenience of the family.

STELLA L. ASHTON, 90, of Totterdale Addition, Bridgeport, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010.
She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on December 4, 1919, a daughter of the late Clarence and Isabell (Baker) Reasbeck.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; Ohio River Valley Elks Lodge # 231; Past President of the Lady Elks, all of Martins Ferry. Stella was the first lady to join the Elks Lodge in Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Ashton and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two sons, W. Gregory (Janna) Ashton, Southlake, TX and Terry J. (Donna) Ashton, St. Clairsville, OH; three grandsons, Scott, Jason and Bradley; three granddaughters, Heather, Amanda and Stephanie; three great grandsons, Brett, Cameron and Evan; great granddaughter, Ashton Leigh; brother, Msgr. David E. Reasbeck, St. Clairsville, OH; two sisters, Sister David Clare Reasbeck, Louisville, KY and Doris J. Burger, Martins Ferry.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 with Rev. Thomas A. Magary as the celebrant.
Interment followed in St. Mary's cemetery, Martins Ferry.
Memorial contributions may be made to SMC 2000, 24 N. 4th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.
Elks Lodge held services Friday at 7 followed by Wake service at 7:30 p.m.

ROBERT BROOKS VIRTUE, 89, of Glen Robbins, Ohio, died Monday, May 2, 2011 at his residence.
Red was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on February 22, 1922, a son of the late Harold R. and Evelyn (Bromley) Virtue.
He was a retired employee of Ferry Hardware of Martins Ferry. He served in the U.S. Marines during WW II.
Red 's hobbies were working with wood and building muzzleloaders.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Marylu Bertus.
He is survived by brother, Harold B. Virtue, Wheeling, WV and a close friend, Glenn Balk of Glen Robbins.
Services are private at the convenience of family.

JOSEPH W. MOORE, 54, of Glenhurst Terrace, Martins Ferry, OH died Monday, April 25, 2011
He was born in Martins Ferry, OH on January 31, 1957, a son of the late Samuel and Rhoda M. (Mills) Moore of Martins Ferry.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Moore.
In addition to his mother he is survived by a daughter, Jessica M. Moore, Wheeling, WV; two sons, Joseph Muldrew, Boca Raton, FL and Joseph W. Moore Jr.; two brothers, Timothy Moore, Martins Ferry and Randy Moore, Powhatan Pt, OH. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
Services are private at the convenience of family.
