1915 - 2006
Mildred G. Hardway Jenkins, age 91, of Gallipolis, died Thursday April 20, 2006 at Holzer Senior Care Center. Born January 18, 1915 in Gallia County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Effie Sims Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by two husbands, Howard S. Hardway and William Jenkins, by two sons, Charles and Michael Hardway, a sister, Marjorie Gatewood, and by a brother Clarence Williams.
Mildred was a homemaker and a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Grace Guild Sunday School Class and the Abigail Circle.

She was also an active member of the Gallia County Senior Citizens.

She is survived by:

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Sunday April 23, 2006 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home with Pastor Doug Stockton and Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Crown City cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 6-9 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Grace United Methodist Church Youth Fund, 600 2nd. Ave. Gallipolis, OH. 45631 or to the charity of your choice.

Virginia Helen Stevens
1943 - 2007
Virginia Helen Stevens, age 63, of Gallipolis, died Wednesday morning May 16, 2007 at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Pt. Pleasant. Born October 24, 1943 in Portsmouth, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Stewart F. Spriggs Sr. and the late Florence Seum Spriggs. In addition to her parents she was preceded by a sister, Irma Tackett.

She was a home health aide and a member of the Potters Wheel Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by:

Longtime friend and companion: Eric Goff of Gallipolis
2 Former husbands: Billy Ray Pack of Inez, KY.
Logan Smith of Inez, KY.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM. Saturday May 19, 2007 at the Potters Wheel Pentecostal Church, with Pastor Steve Nibert officiating. Burial will follow in the Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 PM. and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services.

Carolene Fern McDaniel
1945 - 2006
Carolene Fern McDaniel, age 61, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on November 5, 2006 at her residence. She was born on January 5, 1945 in Cattlettsbur, KY to the late Omar and Pearl Green Saunders. She is also preceded by one son Chad McDaniel.
She is a homemaker and is survived by her husband John McDaniel Jr. of Columbus, one daughter April Douglas of Columbus, 2 grandchildren Tina and Brandon Douglas of Columbus, and 2 Sisters Marcella Stumbo of Grayson, KY and Lorena Smith of Trenton,FL. She is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, and many Cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday November 10, 2006 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Denny Coburn officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-9 P.M.

Ella Irene Fife
1922 - 2006
Ella Irene Fife, age 84, of Gallipolis, died Tuesday November 7, 2006 at Heartland at Hillsboro Care Center. Born May 20, 1922 in Gallia County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Lillie Mae Bright Wright. In addition to her parents she was preceded by her husband Elmer Paul Fife who she married December 22, 1939 and who preceded her on March 22, 1987, and 2 Brothers: Clarence and Charles Wright.
She was a homemaker. She is survived by: 2 Daughters: Paula Jean Noren of Hillsboro and Esther Irene Massie of Ellenton, Florida; 7 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother: Gene Wright of Michigan; 3 Sisters: Edna Wright of Columbus, Rosa Burnett of Sandusky, and Katherine Marino of Connecticut.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday November 11, 2006 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Workman officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.

Charlotte A. Wedemeyer
1932 - 2006
Charlotte A. Wedemeyer, age 73, of Gallipolis, died Friday evening November 17, 2006 at the Jenkins Memorial Nursing Home in Wellston. Born December 11, 1932 in Gallipolis, she was the daughter of the late M.V. Vernon Moore and the late Pauline Northup Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by a sister, Ruth Pauline Burrows and by a brother, Eugene Moore.
Charlotte was a homemaker and a member of Chapel Hill Church of Christ.

She is survived by:

2 Sons: Alden Wedemeyer of Gallipolis
Lee (Colleen) Wedemeyer of Marion
4 Grandchildren: Anthony, Karl and Derek Wedemeyer and Jessica Wedemeyer.
A former daughter in law: Cheryl Wedemeyer of Gallipolis
2 Nephews: Dale Saunders of Gallipolis, and Dwayne Saunders of Sarasota, FL.
1 Niece: Robin Dunaway of Tampa, FL.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM. Sunday November 19, 2006 at Mound Hill cemetery, with Minister Denny Douglas officiating.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Chapel Hill Church of Christ 234 Chapel Drive Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.

Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Alva Lee Sullivan
1939 - 2006
Alva Lee Sullivan, age 67, of Gallipolis, died Friday November 17, 2006 at his residence. Born June 5, 1939 in Cedarville, WV. He was the son of the late Ray and Zella James Sullivan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by, a sister, Jean Hought, and by a brother, Lucky Sullivan.
Alva started a law enforcement career with the Pt. Pleasant Police Dept., he then moved to the Mason County Sheriffs Dept. and

Finally to the Gallia County Sheriffs Dept. he later worked as a construction worker, from which he retired.

He was a United States Navy Veteran, and a member of American Legion Post #23, and the Pt. Pleasant Moose Lodge.

He is survived by:

Wife: Kathy McGuire Sullivan who he married on May 22, 1987 in Catlettsburg, KY.
1 Daughter: Karla (Rusty) Shaffer of Pt. Pleasant.
2 Sons: Greg Sullivan of Pt. Pleasant
Chris (Bev) Sullivan of Patriot
1 Step-Daughter: Jodi (K.W.) Fellure of Gallipolis
6 Grandchildren: Nick, Larry, Kennedy, Breanna, Sommer, and Luke.
7 Great Grandchildren: Garrett, Darian, Jozlynn, Matthew, C.J., Dalton, and Abby.
1 Sister: Maycel (Ray) Queen of Florida
2 Brothers: Bob Sullivan of Glouster
Kenny (Kathy) Sullivan of Bidwell

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Tuesday November 21, 2006 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Stansberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Jordan Baptist Church cemetery in Gallipolis Ferry, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 PM.

Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral Detail.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Robert E. Burns
1929 - 2006
Robert E. Burns, age 77 of Gallipolis, died Thursday morning November 23, 2006 at his residence. Born February 7, 1929 in Gallia County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Gladys Sigler Burns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife Luella Blanche Adkins Burns who he married on June 19, 1948, by 2 brothers, William and Clarence Burns Jr. and by a sister, Wilma Sayre.
He owned and operated Robert Burns Roofing and Spouting Co. for many years.

He is survived by:

Otis Oney Lear
1940 - 2007
Otis Oney Lear, age 66, of Vinton, died Friday evening March 30, 2007 at Holzer Medical Center. Born June 4, 1940 in Gallia County, he was the son of the late Virgil and Pearl Wells Lear. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son, Brian O. Lear, by a brother, Richard Lear and by a sister, Maxine Wallace.
Otis was a union laborer, a member of Laborers Local #423 in Columbus. He was a member of Calvary Christian Center, and was a member of the River Country Band.

He is survived by:

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Tuesday April 3, 2007 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home, with Pastors Denny King, Terry Hale, and T.W. Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mercerville cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 PM.
