Robert R. ‘Bob’ Phillips, age 66, of Gallipolis died Thursday morning August 21, 2014 at his residence. Born February 13, 1948 in the Bladen community in Gallia County, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mabel Hoover Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a sister, Eloise Phillips and by 1 step grandchild.
Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley M. White Phillips,1 son, Robert 'Robbie' Phillips of Huntington, 2 step daughters, Kathy (Johnny) Lively of Vinton and Lisa (Roger) Bing of Mason Co. WV, 5 step grandchildren, 3 brothers, Ronnie (Sharon) Phillips of Chesapeake, Richard (Trina) Phillips of Proctorville, and Randy (Loretta Heck) Phillips of Crown City, 3 sisters, Nancy Mooney of Crown City, Jeanette Pauley of Kenova and Jean Lemley of Ratcliff, KY.
Funeral services will be 3 PM. Saturday August 23, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Swan Creek cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the funeral home to help with Bob’s funeral expenses.

Melvin Jansen Stover
Born: May 24, 1921
Died: August 27, 2014

U.S. Veteran
Melvin Jansen Stover, age 93, of Bidwell, died Wednesday evening August 27, 2014 at his residence. Born May 24, 1921 in Artie, West Virginia. Melvin was the son of the late Eli and Minnie Perry Stover. In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded by 3 brothers, Clinton Paul Stover, Noel Stover and Ira Stover, by 3 sisters, Janice Ford, Irene Wiseman and Florie Grounds, and by 3 nieces and nephews.
Melvin was a farmer; he also drove a school bus for several years, and was involved in the Gallia County farm school back in the 1950’s. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and was of the Christian faith.
He is survived by 19 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Saturday August 30, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
Melvin’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Opal Lee Martin Gauselman
Born: August 11, 1946
Died: August 30, 2014

Opal Lee Martin Gauselman, age 68 passed away on Saturday August 30, 2014 at her home in Nashville, Tennessee.
She was born on August 11, 1946 in Gallia County, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Leonard M. and Emma Lee McGuire Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by a sister, Elsie Martin Saunders, an infant brother, and a niece, Glenna Metz Lockhart.
She was a 1964 graduate of Mercerville, High School, and Mount Saint Joseph College in Cincinnati. She was employed by Mill End Drapery Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, Vogley Todd, Nashville, Tennessee, and retired from Jim Stevens Realty and Auction in Nashville, Tennessee. Opal was meticulous in dress and at work. She enjoyed her employment as an accountant.
Opal attended various churches during her lifetime; however, she never forgot her roots, being reared in a Christian home.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Robert Gauselman, who she married on May 8, 1981. Two sisters, Phyllis (Willis) Wilcoxon of Gallipolis and Retha (Tommy Layton) Metz of Gallipolis, two nieces, Brenda Metz Sexton of Gallipolis, and Rebecca Metz Rayburn of Cedar Lake, Indiana, several great nieces and nephews. Also surviving is one aunt, Judy (Berkley) Saunders of Crown City, two sisters in laws, Carol (Jerry) Hirschauer and Margie (Ron) Hirschauer of Cincinnati, and one brother in law, Jim Gauselman of Cincinnati.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM. Thursday September 4, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Berkley Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn cemetery in Mercerville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday one hour prior to services.

Keith Allen Grate
Born: January 27, 1959
Died: September 12, 2014

Keith Allen Grate, age 55, of Patriot, ‘Went to be with the Lord’ on Friday September 12, 2014 at Holzer Medical Center. Born January 27, 1959 in Gallipolis. Keith was the son of the late Charles Glen Grate, and Donna Baisden Grate of Columbia, MO. In addition to his father, Keith is preceded by his paternal grandparents, Willard and Magdalene Grate, and his maternal grandparents, Lewis and Grace Baisden.
Keith was a 1977 graduate of South Western High School; he retired in 2007 as a Supervisor from the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a former member and Past Master of Patriot Masonic Lodge. Keith enjoyed coaching Midget League football and spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, he is survived his wife, Jackie Corwin Grate who he married on August 27, 1993, a son, Landon Grate, daughter, Kacie Grate, sister, Grace (Chuck) Judy, a nephew, Cole Miller and 2 nieces, Natalie M. and Callie Judy.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Tuesday September 16, 2014 at Salem Baptist Church with Pastor Phil Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Salem cemetery. Friends may call at the Church on Tuesday from Noon until the time of service.

James E. 'Jimmy' Foster
Born: September 01, 1945
Died: September 23, 2014

James Elmer ‘Jimmy’ Foster, age 69, of Gallipolis, died Tuesday evening September 23, 2014 at Holzer Medical Center. Born September 1, 1945 in Georgetown, Ohio. Jimmy was the son of the late Hermus and Sarah J. Foster. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded by a sister, Margaret Jane Craig, and by his best friend, Russell ‘Russ’ Shouse.
Jimmy was a laborer and loved to watch wrestling.
He is survived by his friend, Chris (Roberta) Meek of Gallipolis, with whom he made his home for many years, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Monday September 29, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Centenary cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from Noon until the time of service.

F. Keith Moore
Born: January 26, 1939
Died: October 02, 2014

F. Keith Moore, age 75 of Paducah, Kentucky passed away in the loving arms of his wife at 2:42 PM. on Thursday October 2, 2014 at Parkview Rehab Center.
Keith was born on January 26, 1939 in Mason, West Virginia, moving shortly afterward to Gallipolis, Ohio. He was a proud alumni of Gallia Academy High School, class of 1957, where he played football for the Gallipolis Blue Devils for four years. He was a former Bookkeeper and member of the audit team with A&P for 21 years and a Contract Management Director of hospitals for 25 years in Madison, KY, Dayton, OH, Louisville, KY and retired from Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY in 2001. He worked part time after retiring from Baptist with Nabisco for 9 years servicing several grocery stores in the Paducah and Benton area. He was a member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY, a Kentucky Colonel, a volunteer at Graves County Animal Shelter, a former Scout Leader with Troop 200 in Gallipolis, and a former Board of Director of Mt. Healthy Christian Retirement Village in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Keith is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Anita, one son, Jason and wife Cassie, one daughter, Cheryl Harper, three grandchildren, Hudson Keith and Harper Moore of Henderson, Kentucky, Sean Harper of Huntington, WV, and one special niece, Brenda Belville of San Antonio, Texas, sister in-law, Beverlee (Jeff) Haskins of Gallipolis, Ohio, several nieces, nephews, and a Godson, Trent Davis.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Iceyl Moore, one sister, Helen Moore Belville, and one brother, Steve Moore.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:30 PM. on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home in Gallipolis, Ohio. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM. on Monday October 6, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Eugene Harmon officiating. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Monday from Noon until the time of service. Burial will follow the service in the Gilmore cemetery in Meigs County, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Graves County Animal Shelter, 500 N. 12th Street, Mayfield, KY. 42066, in Keith’s name.

Johnny Nick Johnson
Born: December 10, 1944
Died: October 18, 2014

U.S. VeteranJohnny Nick Johnson, age 69, of Gallipolis, passed away Saturday October 18, 2014 at his residence. Born December 10, 1944 in Gallipolis, Ohio he was the son of the late Grover Grant Johnson and Freda Frances Johnson, and his step mother, Vina Johnson. In addition to his parents he was preceded by 1 Daughter; Jackie C. Leach; 1 Sister; Patricia Ann “Patty” Hembre; by 1 Brother; Jackie Lee Johnson, and by step brothers and sisters, Judy George, David Putney and Debbie Cordell.
Johnny was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Army. He retired from Heiner’s Bakery, where he worked as a route driver. He attended the Faith Valley Church.
He is survived by 2 Brothers; Larry (Faye) Johnson of Gallipolis and Terry (Tammy) Johnson of South Florida. his former Wife; Kim Johnson of Pt. Pleasant, Step Son; Rand Clark of Gallipolis, 3 Grandchildren; Tanya Roberts of Gallipolis, Jeffrey Moss of Gallipolis, and Jacob Leach of Cheshire, and by 2 Great Grandchildren, Hailey and Landon Johnson of Gallipolis, and step brothers and sisters, Betty Condee of Gallipolis, Mary Jackson of Pittsburgh, Linda Harrison of Gallipolis, Bob (Betty) Putney of Gallipolis, Shirley Cox of Gallipolis, Brenda (Bob) Price of Cheshire, Janet (Dennis) Lambert of Pt. Pleasant, and Rita (Kevin) White of Crown City.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday October 22, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Junior Preston officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Nick cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM. until the time of service.
Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Funeral detail.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Faith Valley Church.

Juanita Vinson
Born: March 19, 1930
Died: October 21, 2014

Juanita Vinson, age 84, of Vinton, ’Went to be with the Lord’ on Tuesday morning October 21, 2014 at her residence. Born March 19, 1930 in Exercter, Virginia to the late Robert W. and Bessie M. Markland Wilson Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband Rev. Richard L. Vinson who she married on June 12, 1952 in Detroit Michigan and he preceded her on December 31, 2009, 2 sisters, Coraine Derner and Pauline Barnett, by a step brother, Enos Delph, 2 son in laws, Paul Sword and Ralph Polak and a daughter in law, Donna Vinson.
Juanita was a faithful Pastor’s wife and a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was always young at heart.
She is survived by 5 Children, Rosa Lee Polak of Vinton, Debra Inez Sword of Bidwell, Richard A. Vinson Jr. of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Melody Lynn (Richard) Eblin of Vinton, and David Bryan (Kim) Vinson of Livonia, Michigan. 17 Grandchildren, 39 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild. 1 Brother, Robert W. Wilson Jr. of Morganton, North Carolina, 1 Sister, Flona (Charles) Sexton of Whitesburg, Kentucky, 1 Step Brother, Ronnie Delph of Hurricane, West Virginia, 4, ½ Sisters, Sharon Stiles, Teresa Bevins, Sondra Whitt, and Pamela Potter all of McRoberts, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM. Friday October 24, 2014 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 PM. Pallbearers will be: Joshua Truance, Gary Truance, Jamie McGhee, Michael Haney, Richard Vanco, Josiah Johnson, Gary Wayne Truance Jr. and Noah Vanco.

Mary Ann Bowman
Born: May 08, 1931
Died: January 07, 2009

Mary Ann Bowman, age 77, of Gallipolis, ‘Went to be with her Lord and Savior’ Wednesday January 7, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family, following a long battle with cancer. Born May 8, 1931 in Kanauga, she was the daughter of the late Truman and Stella Smith Burnett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Richard Lewis Bowman who she married on September 4, 1950 and he preceded her on October 17, 1993. Also preceding her are 2 sisters, Rachael Borton and Helen Strickland, 5 brothers, Morris, Woodrow, Robert, Clyde and Vinton Burnett, and her mother in law, Ruth Evans Bowman
Mary Ann was retired from the medical equipment business, of which she was a founder/ co-founder of Family Oxygen and Medical Equipment and prior to that Bowman’s Homecare Medical Equipment. She also formerly worked at Robbins and Myers. In earlier years she and her husband owned and operated Bowman’s Grocery. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by:
5 Children: Sherri (Bart) Repass, Lewis (Nikki) Bowman, Dan (Missy) Bowman, Sue (Keith) Blankenship, and Gary (Connie) Bowman all of Gallipolis.
17 Grandchildren: Angie (Scott) Curfman, Nathan, Richard, Evan, and Ann Bowman, Jeremy (Tracy) Johnson, Matt and Marea Johnson all of Gallipolis, Trevor Bowman of Toledo, Ben, Erin and Brett Bowman, Andy, Brody, and Richelle Blankenship, all of Gallipolis, Lisa (Andrew) Meyn of Lebanon, OH., and Brad (Brittany) Bowman of Pensacola, FL.
And 9 Great Grandchildren.

Wanda N. Taylor
(February 20, 1925 - March 26, 2013)

Wanda N. Taylor, age 88, of Crown City, died Tuesday morning March 26, 2013 at the home of her daughter, Naomi Bryan who along with Wanda’s granddaughter, Stephanie Unroe provided care and comfort to her in her final days. Wanda was born February 20, 1925 in Ironton, daughter of the late Wheeler and Mary Sanders Holston. In addition to her parents, Wanda is preceded by her beloved husband, Russell D. Taylor who she married in 1941 and he preceded her in 2000, two sons, Russell L. Taylor, and John R. Taylor, a daughter, Edna Joyce Taylor, Son in law, Ronald Cordrey, and two daughters in law, Judy Taylor, and Judith Copley Taylor. Wanda is survived by, her children, Jim Taylor of Patriot, Jane (John) Gilbert of Huntington, with whom Wanda made her home for many years, Jean (Robert) Gillispie of New Haven WV. Naomi (Gary) Bryan of Crown City, Pam (Roger) Cordrey of Galion, Debra (Dave) Carpenter of Patriot, Jessie (Betty Jo) Taylor of Gallipolis, Jacqueline Cordrey of Crestline, and a daughter in law, Janie Taylor of Gallipolis. 31 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and many great great grandchildren. Wanda is loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Saturday March 30, 2013 in the Chapel of Hope Mausoleum at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens on Neighborhood Road in Gallipolis, with Pastor Phil Taylor officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home 810 2nd. Ave. Gallipolis on Friday from 6-8 PM.

Kenneth Edward 'Smooth' Siders II

Kenneth Edward ‘Smooth’ Siders II, age 46, of Gallipolis, died Monday morning February 2, 2015 at his residence. Born July 7, 1968 in Gallipolis, he was the son of Kenneth Edward ‘Kenny’ Siders and Joan Smith Siders of Gallipolis.
‘Smooth’ was a boilermaker, a member of local #105 and attended both the First Church of God and the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his parents, Kenny and Joan Siders of Gallipolis, his wife, Leighana Patrick Siders of Gallipolis, 4 daughters, Morgan Brook Siders, Maddie Rae Siders, McKenzie Kathleen Siders, and Macey Leighana Siders all of Gallipolis. 1 brother, Wayne (Monica Leigh)Siders of Iowa Park, Texas, his mother in law, Kathleen (Michael) Patrick-Marchi of Gallipolis, sister in law, Tammy Anne Patrick Cebula of Berlin, Maryland, 4 brothers in law, Kenneth Ray Patrick Jr. of Cocoa, Florida, Thomas Charles Patrick of Gallipolis, Darrell Lee Patrick of Crystal River, Florida, and Lucas Daniel Patrick of Gallipolis. 2 nieces, Malerie Jo Siders, and Kayla Jean Siders, 1 nephew, Ashton Blake Siders, and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded by 2 brothers, Jeff Siders, and Kevin Siders.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Thursday February 5, 2015 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Paul McNeal officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 11:00 AM. until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Patrick, Wayne Siders, Darrell Patrick, Luke Patrick, Tom Patrick, Shawn McNeal, Greg Brumfield, and Travis Fisher.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a scholarship fund established at Ohio Valley Bank in Kenneth E. Siders II memory.

Ethan Noah Adam Culpepper (Arrowood)
Born: February 05, 1998
Died: March 05, 2015

Ethan Noah Adam Culpepper (Arrowood), age 17, of Oak Hill, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday March 5, 2015. Born February 5, 1998 in Gallipolis. Ethan was a Junior at Buckeye Hills Career Center and River Valley High School. He was a caring and loving boy. He had a love of music as well as his family and friends. Ethan is survived by his mom, Tiffany Culpepper, step-dad, Seth Arrowood, and sister, Hannah Culpepper all of Oak Hill. Also surviving is Ethan’s grandparents, Bess Culpepper of Gallipolis, Angela (Bruce) King of Buffalo, WV. and Michael Arrowood of Oak Hill, great grandparents, Ervin (Shirley) Arrowood of Oak Hill, Nolan (Wanda) Thornton of Patriot, aunts, Margaret Mandel of Youngstown, Patricia (Zeb) Jones of Gallipolis, Linda Queen of Gallipolis, Jean Culpepper of North Carolina, Susan (Dwight) Swisher of Gallipolis, Leslie Spencer of Gallipolis, and Tabitha (Josh) Taylor of Buffalo, as well as many great aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Ethan was preceded in death by, his great grandparents, Noah and Margaret Fitch, and great aunt, Etta Jo Furst. Ethan loved to play his guitar and spend time playing Xbox with his cousins, Jack Swisher and Jared Spencer. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Thursday March 12, 2015 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Brandon Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the Arrowood cemetery in Oak Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 PM. and on Thursday one hour prior to services. Pallbearers will be: Gus Arrowood, Steve Tackett, James Culpepper, Roy Dummitt, Adam Doles,Justin Arrowood and Jeremy Thornton. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the funeral home to help with Ethan’s funeral expenses.
