Madeline M. Hall
(Died March 8, 2015)

Madeline Margaret (Boetz) Hall, 92, passed away on Sunday evening, March 8, 2015 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
She was born November 16, 1922 in Williams County, the daughter of August and Germaine (Segers) Boetz. On March 27, 1943, she married Donald Wyatt Hall, who preceded her in death October, 1994.
She was school secretary at Tiffin School, Tinora Junior High School, and worked at Defiance County Clerk of Courts for many years.
She enjoyed sewing, making crafts, polka and square dancing, watching NASCAR, and being with her grandchildren.
Madeline was a member of Evansport United Methodist Church.
Madeline is survived by children Patty (Terry) Fruth, and Ricky (Julia) Hall, of Defiance. grandchildren Angela (Mike) Kwiatkowski, Bryan, Andrew (Kathryn) Fruth, Defiance, Abby (Kent) Siebern, Angola, Indiana, Nicola (Robert) Guisinger, Chad (Betsi) Hall, and Chelsea Hall, all of Defiance; twelve great-grandchildren, Margaret (Maggie), Emma, Joshua, and Grace Kwiatkowski; Wyatt, Westin, and Wade Fruth, Jacob, Joseph, and Levi Guisinger, Hayden and Aubrey Hall. Preceding her in death were brothers, George and Maurice Boetz.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Evansport United Methodist Church and one hour prior to service on Thursday. A Celebration of Madeline’s Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the church, with Rev. Becky Ploughe officiating. Interment will follow in Evansport cemetery. Luncheon for family and friends will follow at the Evansport United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The family requests in lieu of flowers, statues, and other funeral memorabilia, donations be made to Evansport United Methodist Church, Facility Improvement Fund, Defiance Area Society for the Handicapped (DASH), Community Health Professionals - Defiance Hospice. Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, is entrusted with arrangements.

Eva Bella Smith
(1918 - 2008)

Eva Belle Smith, 90, of Bryan, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at Harborside Healthcare of Northwest Ohio.
Born July 1, 1918, near Ney, to Fern (Sell) and Otis Moog, she married George Smith on May 22, 1940, and he preceded her in death in 1986.
A 1936 graduate of Farmer High School, she was employed by Spangler Candy Co. from 1952 to1983 and was a greeter at Wal - Mart in Bryan for 11 years. She also formerly operated George and Eva's Flower Shop in Bryan with her husband. She also was a member of the Melbern United Methodist Church and the Spangler Retirees Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Georgia Patterson of Stryker; six sons, Alan (and wife, Marilyn) Smith, of Chicago, Ill., Jay (Marcia) Smith, of Bryan, Jim (Karen) Smith, of Avilla, Ind., Anthony (Betty Jean) Smith, of Bryan, and Rex (Ella) Smith, of Montpelier; sister, Betty Lee (Ivan) Arend of Dunedin, Florida; daughter - in - law Kay Smith, of Stryker; brothers - in - law, L.D. Grandey and Eugene Miller; and 22 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Smith; a son, Jerry Smith; and sisters, Irene Miller and June Grandey.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Krill Funeral Home in Bryan.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Diane Schaffner officiating. Interment will follow in Farmer cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice the Caring Way of Williams and Fulton Counties.

E. Charles (Charlie) Carroll
(1957 - 2008)

DEFIANCE - E. Charles (Charlie) Carroll, 50, of Defiance, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at his home.
Born Sept. 11, 1957, in Defiance to Mary K. (Thrasher) and Earl W. Carroll, he married Lori "Lisa" (Seal) on Nov. 26, 1994, and she survives.
He worked as a police officer for the city of Defiance for 23 years, retiring in 2006 as a lieutenant.
He was the president of the Maumee Valley Archaeological Society and a member of the Archaeological Society of Ohio; and an Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts of America.
He also was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a son, Samuel Stephen Carroll of Defiance; three sisters, Catherine Morris of Crown Pointe, Ind., Barbara (and husband Tom) Kajfasz of Defiance, and Laura (Russell) Wagner of Baltimore, Md.; and a brother, Thomas (Cheryll) Carroll of Pemberville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Calling hours are 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Lawson - Roessner Funeral Home, and a Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance at 11 a.m. Monday with Father Tim Kummerer officiating.
Interment will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.

Michael W. Winiecki
(1952 - 2008)

DEFIANCE - Michael W. Winiecki, 55, of Defiance died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, in Stow, Ohio.
Born Oct. 10, 1952, in Elmira, N.Y., to Floryne J. (Steiner) and Stanley E. Winiecki, he married Sandra A. Bane, and she survives.
He served a distinguished and decorated career in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era and finishing his service with the first Persian Gulf War. He retired in 1990 as a LCDR with 20 years service to country. He not only served as a nurse anesthetist during active duty but continued this service after retirement throughout the Midwest.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Maximillian Winiecki of Indianapolis, Ind., and David (and wife, Michele) of Shelbyville, Ind.; daughter, Tiffany Winiecki of Franklin, Ind.; sister, Alyce (Brian) Caster of Horseheads, N.Y.; brothers, Stephen (Sherry) Winiecki of Perrysburg, Martin (Sue) Winiecki of Elmira, N.Y., David (Mary Rose) Winiecki of Stow, Ohio, and Paul Winiecki of Elmira, N.Y.; granddaughters, Lilly, Madalin and Amy; several aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was to be this morning from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Glenn E. George & Sons Funeral Home in Shelbyville, Indiana, with a memorial service to follow immediately. Interment with military honors will be at Arlington National cemetery in Washington, D.C., at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Rosana Black Kunkle
(1921 - 2008)

TECUMSEH, Mich. - After a brief illness, Rosana Weber died Thursday, September 4, 2008, in Tecumseh.
Born Feb. 24, 1921, in Warren County, Ind., to Carrie and John Black, she married Wesley Greek "Pete" Kunkle of Kunkle in 1941. They had two children, Leah and Ted Kunkle.
After the death of Wesley "Pete" Kunkle in 1945, she married Russel Weber in 1949 and he survives.
Employed for many years at Carroll - Ames Hardware in Bryan, Ohio, as a bookkeeper, she lived in Bryan until 1994, when she and her husband retired to Bradenton, Fla. Recently, after their son became ill in Florida, they returned to the area to be near their daughter, Leah.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Leah Kunkle (and husband, David) Acus of Tecumseh; a daughter - in - law, Peggy Kunkle of Bradenton, Fla.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Theodore "Ted" Kunkle on Aug. 11, 2008.
A joint celebration of Rosana's and son Theodore's lives will occur Saturday at the Burr Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the memorial service to begin at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a Hospice and Palliative Care facility in the donor's area.

Leroy J. 'Bill' Dominique
(1933 - 2008)

ARCHBOLD - Leroy J. "Bill" Dominique, 75, of Archbold, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 3, 2008, at the Archbold Hospital. Born Jan. 7, 1933, at Archbold, to Florence (Flory) and Leander 'French' Dominique, he married Sue Smith on Nov. 11, 1952, and she survives. A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, he worked for the Village of Archbold for 33 years, many of them as superintendent of the Street Department, and since retirement, worked in maintenance at Sauder Village for 12 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Archbold, a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7552, and a member of the American Legion B.L.W. Post 311.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Marty (and wife, Joyce) Dominique of Orland Park, Ill. and Frenchy Dominique of Archbold; two daughters, Jenny Graber of Archbold and Bonnie Dominique of Stryker; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Elmer 'Shorty' (Rosie) Dominique, Allen Dominique and Jerry Dominique, all of Archbold.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son - in - law, Daryl Graber; and a brother, Vearl Dominique.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 - 8 p.m. in the Short Funeral Home, Archbold, with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father Gary Ferguson to officiate. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Catholic cemetery with military rites by American Legion B.L.W. Post 311.
Memorials may be made to Hands of Grace or the Fulton County Senior Center.

Jackson Henry Crosser
(1944 - 2008)

Jackson Henry Crosser, 63, of Bryan and formerly of Napoleon, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at the VA Hospital, Ann Arbor, Mich.
Born Dec. 7, 1944, at Napoleon, he was the son of Celestie (Rinkey) and Arkie Crosser.
A 1962 graduate of Napoleon High School, he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a former employee for the Napoleon Spring Works, Archbold, and the Midwest Trim Co. of Napoleon.
Surviving is a son, Michael Crosser; a brother, Richard Crosser of Hill City, Kansas; three sisters, Sandra Weirauch of Liberty Center, Maryanne (and husband, Harold) George and Victoria (James) Cabell, both of Napoleon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bryan Crosser.
A graveside service will be held at a later announced date.
Memorials may be made to the benevolence of the family.
Arrangements are by the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon.

Helen M. Stemen - Kaiser
(1922 - 2008)

EDGERTON - Helen M. Stemen - Kaiser, 86, of Edgerton and former long - time resident of Butler, Ind., died early Tuesday morning, Sept. 2, 2008, at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn, Ind., where she was a resident.
Born March 15, 1922, at DeKalb County, Ind., to Louise (Palmer) and Henry Bry, she married Homer Stemen on Dec. 11, 1940, and he preceded her in death in 1968. She then married Robert Kaiser on Feb. 14, 1970, and he preceded her in death in 1974.
She attended the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Butler Eagles and Butler American Legion Auxiliary. She was employed as a secretary in the Records Department at DeKalb Memorial Hospital for 10 years, retiring in 1978, and prior to that had worked at Universal Tool in Butler for 11 years.
An avid bowler, she was a member of the Butler Bowling League for 40 years and was a former Bowler of the Year at Butler Lanes.
Surviving are two daughters, Marge (and husband, Jim) Myers of Huntertown, Ind. and Karen (Brad) Karris of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a son, James (and wife, Elaine) Stemen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two stepchildren, Steve Kaiser of Leonor, N.C. and Sheri Piper of Reading, Mich.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Virginia Finley and Bess Hornet, both of Auburn, Ind.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marsha Faye Stemen; three brothers, Sam, Charles and Bud Bry; and a sister, Mildred.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 - 8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Butler cemetery, Butler, Ind.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
