Darrel L. Culbertson
(1969 - 2005)

Darrel L. Culbertson, 35, of Bryan, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at his residence. Born on Oct. 1, 1969, at Bryan, to Ima Jean (Palmer) and Donald L. Culbertson, he married Sharon C. Turley on July 6, 1990, at Mesa, Ariz. and she survives.
Most recently employed by H.E. Rudy Trucking Company, he had been a truck driver for several trucking companies.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Phoenix, Ariz. and the Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Steven L. Culbertson, and a daughter, Jennifer M. Culbertson, both of Bryan; his mother, Jean Culbertson of Bryan; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Tina M.) Kyer of Weare, N.H.; a brother, Daniel L. (and wife, Karen) Culbertson; and his maternal grandmother, Esther M. Palmer.
Preceding him in death were his father; paternal grandparents, Howard and Arlene Culbertson; and maternal grandfather, Daniel W. Palmer.
Visitation will be held Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Nicholas Woodall to officiate. Burial will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, near Bryan.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Amanda "Betty" Brown
(1916 - 2005)

Amanda Elizabeth "Betty" Brown, 88, of Bryan, died early Wednesday morning, April 6, 2005, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan, where she was a hospice patient. Born April 11, 1916, in Superior Township, to Jennie D. (Myers) and John N. Young, she married John Edward Brown on May 23, 1936, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1974.
A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Bryan High School in 1933. Primarily a homemaker, she also worked at the Ohio Art Company and the former Holabird Company, both of Bryan.
A long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Bryan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2489, she was a seven time past president as well holding many other offices over the years. She was a member of the Red Cross with her main interest in the blood program as both a worker and a donor. Surviving is a son, Dean E. (and wife, Vicki) Brown of Montpelier; a daughter, Mrs. Scott (Doris J.) Rath of Fremont, Ind.; four grandchildren, Mrs. Jeff (Andrea L.) Rosendaul of Edon, Mrs. Tom (Amanda J.) Hutchinson of Delta, Erik D. (Jinny Boyer) Brown and Erin E. Rath both of Fremont, Ind..; a great-granddaughter, Claire E. Hutchinson of Delta; a brother, John C. (Anita) Young of Bryan; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Forrest and James Young; and a sister, Maude Wiles.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Burr Funeral Home & Crematory, Bryan.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Bill Priest to officiate. Burial will follow in Shiffler Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bryan VFW Auxiliary No. 2489, the Williams County Red Cross or the Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospice.

Dick Fredrick Young
(1931 - 2005)

FLEMING - Dick Fredrick Young, 73, of Fleming, died Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2005, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
Born May 1, 1931, at Marietta, to Elva (Robinson) and Otto Young, he married Ella Mae Tornes on Sept. 21, 1954, and she survives.
A 1948 graduate of Waterford High School, he was a United States Army veteran, serving his country on the 38th Parallel as an engineer during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong farmer and a 50 year member of the Operating Engineers Local 18.
During his lifetime, he was a Washington County Commissioner for eight years, a Warren Township Trustee, served on the Warren Township Volunteer Fire Department and EMT Squad and was an active member of the Washington County Democratic Party. He was currently serving as the president of the Warren Water Association, which he helped form.
He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a member of many organizations including, the VFW Post No. 5108, the American Legion Post No. 64, 40 et 8, Loyal Order of Moose No. 1823, BPO Elks No. 477 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Beverly.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Northwest State Community College President Dr. Betty Young, and her husband, George Gandor of Napoleon and a granddaughter, Mrs. Jeff (Shoshanna) Brooker of Churchtown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lawrence Young.
Visitation will be held today and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service in the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home.
Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Fred Kihm to officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Warren Chapel Cemetery.

Lee Harner
(1910 - 2005)

Lee O. Harner, 94, of Bryan, died early Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan, where he had been a resident the past two years.
Born Sept. 9, 1910, at Martin County, Ind., to Catherine (Baker) and Clement Harner, he married E. Irene Robison on Aug. 6, 1939, in Bryan, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 1987. A factory worker for Bard Manufacturing for 25 years, retiring in 1975, he was a member of Lick Creek Church of the Brethren.
Surviving is his son, Verle L. Harner of Bryan; two grandsons, David Harner of Defiance and Scott Harner of Fairborn; and a brother, Herman Harner of Shoals, Ind.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Anna Harner; a sister and six brothers.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service begins at 1 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan. Pastor David Miller is to officiate. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery, Bryan. Memorials may be made to Lick Creek Church of the Brethren.

Dolly Mae Crist
(1923 -2005)

Dolly Mae Crist, 81, of Bryan, died early Tuesday morning, April 5, 2005, at the Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier.
Born July 15, 1923, at Montpelier, to Imo L. (Gaskill) and Seldon L. Mick, she married Denver Crist on March 25, 1945, and he survives.
Employed as a sales clerk for the Gorny Winzeler Company in Bryan, she had attended the Montpelier United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Rebecca) Bialy; two grandchildren, Mrs. Jeff (Amy) Winters and Mrs. Chris (Lisa) Sadowski; two great-grandchildren, Emmalee and Andrew Winters, all of Perrysburg; brothers, Larry J. (and wife, Mary Lou) Mick of Fayette, Richard E. (Linda) Mick of Tucson, Ariz. and Tommy L. (Susann) Mick of Montpelier; and sisters, Mrs. Gail (Joan M.) Gordon and Shirley L. McGee, both of Montpelier.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Jon Steven Crist; brothers, Lester L., Charles R., James H., Harold D., Herbert R. and Lewis V. Mick; and sisters, Dora J. Hepker and Lucille J. Lamb. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Burr Funeral Home & Crematory, Bryan. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Damschroeder to officiate. Burial will follow at the Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.
Memorials may be made to Williams County Cancer Assistance.

Cheryl L. Hicks
(1948 - 2005)

Cheryl L. Hicks, 56, of Bryan, died Monday morning, April 4, 2005, at the Dilworth Center of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Montpelier, after an extended illness. Born May 13, 1948, at Auburn, Ind., to Evelyn June (Miller) and Willard Easterday, she married Alvin B. "Boyd" Hicks on June 4, 1988, at George Bible Park near Montpelier, and he survives.
A longtime waitress, she was best known for being the morning waitress at the Bavarian Inn, Mohre's and Towne Commons in Bryan. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Montpelier, Bryan Moose Lodge 1064, Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233 and Bryan AmVets.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Scott Robert Pollick of Bryan; a sister, Judith Runyan of Bryan; a brother, Tom Easterday of Fullerton, Calif.; her mother, Evelyn 'Rusty' McCarty of Bryan; three nieces and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Edward Auchard to officiate. Burial will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.
Memorials may be made to the Dilworth Center of Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers.
